Lucy Boudreau

Sept. 7, 1905 - Nov. 5, 2003

Lucy Boudreau, 98, of Benicia, passed away Wednesday in a local hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Santa Rosa, lived in Walnut Creek for over 30 years and had been a Benicia resident since 1962.

She graduated from Benicia High School in 1924 and later from Santa Rosa Business College with a degree in Culinary Arts. She worked at Tommy's Grocery Store in Walnut Creek and later owned a restaurant with her husband called Virg N' Lou's.

Lucy is survived by her cousins, Paul "Kiki" Chiotti of Benicia and his daughters, Paula Chiotti of Santa Rosa and Carla Chiotti of Richland, Wash. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Boudreau and her daughter, Nina deMonner.

Lucy enjoyed traveling to Europe and Mexico and for a time lived in Guadalajara, Mexico. She also enjoyed gardening and having her annual yard sale the same day as the Peddler's Fair at her home of West H Street.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia. A private burial will be held in Alamo Cemetery, Danville.

Mary J. Suglian

March 30, 1911 - Oct. 29, 2003

Mary J. Suglian, 92, of Benicia passed away October 29th in Vallejo. She was born in Douglas, Arizona, lived in Fresno for over 30 years and was a longtime Benicia resident.

She worked as a legal secretary for more than 33 years.

Mary is survived by her son Mark Joseph Suglian of Nevada; stepdaughters Janice "Patty" Smith of Pacific Grove and Consuelo Smith-Basalt of Spain; sister Prudy Kovacevich of New York and 4 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark in 1995 and her daughter, Prudy Ann in 1942.

Memorial services will be held Friday, November 14th at 5 p.m. at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel. Her ashes will be scattered in the Carquinez Strait. The family prefers donations to Benicia Community Action Council.

Elisha "Tate" Pruitt Jr.

June 25, 1929 - Nov. 20, 2003

Elisha "Tate" Pruitt Jr., 74, of Benicia, passed away Thursday at his home after a short illness. He was born in Marshall,  Texas and lived in Benicia since 1955.

He was a veteran of the Korean War as a member of the United States Army from 1950 to 1952. Elisha worked as a metal inspector at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for more than 32 years, before retiring in 1985.

He was a member of King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, was a former coach of Benicia Little League Baseball and enjoyed all sports. One of his favorite hobbies was playing dominoes.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Benicia; daughters, Deborah (Early) Foster of Sacramento and Marilyn Pruitt of Vallejo; sons, Donald of Healdsburg; Dennis of San Francisco; Elisha III of Benicia; David of Vallejo; Gregory of Benicia; Richard of Benicia; Andrew of Vallejo; Timothy of Suisun City and Ocie of Benicia; grandson, Leonzo of Brentwood and 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church in Benicia with Pastor Willie Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel in Benicia with a quiet hour from 7 to 8 p.m.

Steven J. Brandon

April 25, 1956 - Nov. 25, 2003

Steven Joseph Brandon, 47, died Tuesday after a long illness. He was born and raised in Vallejo and recently resided in Benicia.

Mr. Brandon graduated from Vallejo High School in 1974. He served three years in the U.S. Army with a tour of duty in Korea prior to his honorable discharge. He returned to Vallejo and began working as an electrician at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. He later joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Robert R. Brandon. Survivors include his mother, Evelyn D. Price (Gary); brothers, Curtis (Mary Jo) and David (Janet); paternal grandmother, Nellie M. Roush; nephews, Jason, Kevin and Brian Brandon; and nieces, Alexandra Brandon and Rebecca Jacobs.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Vallejo. Cremation will be private.

Contributions may be sent to the donor's favorite charity.

Leonardo M. Alcos

Dec. 8-1941-Sept. 29, 2003

Leonardo M. Alcos died Sept. 29 at home.

A memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Benicia.

Inurnment is private.

Ferne Frances Vasconcellos

Nov. 17, 1926 - Oct. 8, 2003

Ferne F. Vasconcellos, 76, of Vallejo, passed away Wednesday in a local hospital after a short illness.

She was born in Eugene, Oregon, and was a Benicia and Vallejo resident for over 30 years.

She worked for Pacific Bell in San Francisco for 20 years and most recently at JC Penney in the Sun Valley Mall for more than 20 years, retiring in 2001.

Ferne is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Haskett, and son-in-law, Robert, of Vallejo; brother, Oscar Bischoff of San Jose; lifelong friend, Lucille Bourquin; close friend and niece, Margaret Bacigalupi of Vallejo; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as countless friends. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth and Elsie, and her brother, Ruben.

She was a longtime member of Calvary Community Church in Benicia, where she oversaw the library.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Twin Chapels Mortuary, Vallejo. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the mortuary. Her ashes will be scattered in the Sierra Mountains.

Marie Eldridge

Jan. 15, 1911 - Sept. 19, 2003

Marie (Finerty) Eldridge, 92, passed away Sept. 19 at Sutter Solano Medical Center of injuries sustained after being struck by a car while she was walking across the street on Aug. 27.

She was born Jan. 15, 1911, in Vallejo, Ca., and lived many years in Crockett. She was a graduate of St. Vincent's, Vallejo High and U.C. Berkeley. She worked for many years in her brother-in-law Samuel Eldridge's medical office.

She enjoyed reading and traveling. She was a member of the Carquinez Women's Club; Italian Catholic Federation, San Carlo Branch 14, Crockett; Friends of the Crockett Library; and St. Rose of Lima Parish.

She was predeceased by her sister, Josephine Finerty, and her brother, Joseph Finerty. Survivors include her daughters, Frankie Eldridge and Susan Eldridge Chegwyn; sister, Catherine Galligan; nephews, Lee Michael Finerty, John (Fr. Raymond) Finerty and Pat Finerty; and several great-nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Crockett.

Private burial for family only.

Arrangements were made by Hosselkus Chapel/Wilson and Kratzer Mortuaries.

Ricardo Flores

Sept. 29, 1972 - Sept. 20, 2003

Ricardo Murguia Flores, 30, of Fairfield, died Saturday at Sutter Solano Medical Center from injuries sustained in an auto accident on Highway 780 in Benicia.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Thursday at Colonial Chapels, Vallejo, with a vigil there at a 7 p.m. Thursday.

A Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Vallejo.

Burial will be at All Souls Catholic Cemetery, Vallejo.
