Larry A. Linchner

Larry A. Linchner, 53, died Sept. 8, 2003, in Vallejo after a brief illness. Born in Vallejo, Mr. Linchner was a resident of Benicia.
Mr. Linchner worked on Mare Island for 15 years and for the Humane Society for three years. He enjoyed fishing, stamp collecting, auto racing, and camping outdoors.
Survivors include his sisters, Sandy Buffi of Napa and Dianne Schwartz of Benicia; brother, Craig Linchner of Antioch; and long-time friends, John Swords and Fred Arrit.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia. Contributions are preferred to the donor's choice.
Mattie Sue Adams
Sept. 25, 1921 - Sept. 8, 2003
Mattie Sue Adams, 81, died Monday at home after a long illness. Born in Bear Wallow, Ark., she was a Vallejo resident for 53 years.
Mattie Sue Wootton Adams grew up in Paris, Ark., with her two sisters, Mary and Lucy, and her two brothers, Otto and Bob Wootton.
She and Howard Adams were married in a double ceremony in 1939, with Anna Lee Hallmark and Edward Adams. Eventually, the newlyweds moved to Richmond, Ca., to work at the Naval Shipyard. While residing there, their daughter Diane was born. Later, while residing in Price, Utah, their daughter Cherrie was born. Due to her husband's illness, the family moved to Vallejo, Ca., where Mattie resided until her death.
Mattie made many lifelong friends while working as a cook at Kaiser Hospital for 261/2 years, retiring in 1977. She was a lifelong member of Church of Christ and last attended Merced Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her sisters, brothers and one infant daughter, Sharon Sue.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane (Jeff) Tracey of Fairfield, Ca., and Cherrie (Tim) Zemanek of San Dimas, Ca.; also eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.
A memorial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Skyview Funeral Chapel, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo. The Rev. Richard Coffelt of Church on the Hill in Vallejo will be officiating. Inurnment will be at Skyview Memorial Lawn.
Hayley Horn
June 16, 1986 - Aug. 28, 2003
Hayley Horn was born June 16, 1986, in Walnut Creek, Ca., the only child of David and Karen Horn. She grew up in Benicia, attending Mary Farmar Elementary School, Benicia Middle School and Benicia High School.
Hayley was an outstanding student, earning straight A's every semester from fifth grade through the end of her sophomore year, when she became too ill to attend school. At graduation from elementary and middle school, she won the President's Education Award. She was also valedictorian of her eighth-grade class. Music was Hayley's greatest gift and passion. She played percussion in the high school wind ensemble, jazz and marching bands, winning state-wide competitions with the band, and performing in the 2001 Rose Bowl Parade.
Hayley loved life and cherished her family and friends. Despite her lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis, there was never a trace of bitterness or self-pity at her own plight. She was intensely compassionate and felt her deepest sorrow at the suffering of others. Just weeks before she died, when she was already bound to her wheelchair and oxygen tank, she was moved to an evening of tears by the request of a homeless man for something to eat.
Hayley died Aug. 28th in Oakland, Ca., due to lung failure.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandparents, Edith and Don Dye of Vallejo.
A memorial will be held Sunday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m. at the Benicia High School Football Field, 1101 Military West. Per her request, Hayley has been cremated and her ashes will be spread at a private service in the Montana mountains.

Mario Ferraez
Aug. 29, 1923 - Aug. 24, 2003
Mario H. Ferraez, 79, of Pittsburg, died Sunday in a Concord hospital after a long illness.
Agnes C. Crowell
July 23, 1913 - Sept. 18, 2003
Agnes C. Crowell, 90, died Sept. 18 in a Vallejo care home following a long illness.
Mrs. Crowell was born in Custine and was a Vallejo resident for 61 years.
She was a homemaker and belonged to the Vallejo Gem and Mineral Club.
Mrs. Crowell was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Crowell.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverley L. Hurd of Vallejo; two grandchildren, Dale (Stacy) Hurd of Vallejo and Penne (Dan) Usher of New Mexico; and four great-grandchildren, Alexis and Amber Hurd and Auston and Sierra Usher.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday with a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Skyview Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Skyview Memorial Lawn.

Marjorie Bonebrake

Marjorie G. Bonebrake, 89, died peacefully at home on Thursday. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and lived in Vallejo for 27 years before moving to American Canyon, where she resided for the past year.
Mrs. Bonebrake was a homemaker. She was an active participant in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) during her adult life, sharing her faith, compassion and gratitude in activities through the local congregation, the Regional Church in Pennsylvania (before their move to Vallejo in 1985) and Church Women United.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Jr. Mrs. Bonebrake is survived by her daughters, Sue (James) Schimmel of Ohio and H. Kathleen Bonebrake of American Canyon; sons, Clyde L. (Marlee) Bonebrake III of Virginia and Joe H. (Cheryl) Bonebrake of Iowa; and 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
An inurnment will be held at Skyview Memorial Lawn in Vallejo. A celebration service at First Christian Church will be held at a later date.

Marvin F. McFadden
Feb. 4, 1938 - July 30, 2003
On July 30, 2003, Marvin F. "Mac" McFadden, a Vallejo resident for 57 years, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, after a heroic 25-year battle with muscular dystrophy.
Marvin was born in Portland, Ore., before moving to Vallejo in 1946 with his mother, Lois, and siblings, Nathaniel and Myrna.
He attended public schools and worked for the California Department of Forestry from 1956 to 1957 and Sullivan Marine Sales in 1958. In 1960, he became Mare Island's first apprentice insulator in Shop 56. At the age of 33, he had so excelled at his trade he was promoted in 1971 to general foreman, the youngest at the time in Mare Island history. Marvin retired disabled in 1987 after 28 years of service.
In Marvin's healthy years he enjoyed motorcycles, cars, boxing, playing the piano, listening to music and spending time with family and friends. Upon Marvin's physical demise he greatly enjoyed time with family and friends, listening to music along with boxing on television.
Marvin leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Barbara (Fingerhut) of 43 devoted years; sons, Marvin (Monica) McFadden and Matthew (Jennifer) McFadden of Vallejo; daughter, Jennifer (Jason) Bokum of Vallejo; grandchildren, Devin, Schuyler and Eli McFadden, Ariel, Matthew Jr. and Anthony McFadden, Mitchell Nutt and Ryan and Rebecca Bokum; brother, Nathaniel (Leslie) McFadden; sister, Myrna McFadden; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and in-laws.
A memorial service will be held in Marvin's honor at 11 a.m. Sept. 6 at the Jefferson Street Mansion, 1063 Jefferson St., Benicia.
