Elva J. Webber

Jan. 18, 1914 - June 3, 2004

Elva J. Webber, 90, of Vallejo passed away of natural causes on Thursday morning at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo.

A native of Cherry County, Neb., Elva was a resident of Vallejo since 1942. She was a homemaker for 71 years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Vallejo and also attended First Presbyterian Church in Vallejo.

Mrs. Webber loved music. She was an accomplished pianist and organist from her early youth and was the pianist at church services and functions. She was a dedicated volunteer to Meals on Wheels for more than 20 years and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin E. Webber, in 1970; twin daughters, Bonnie and Vonnie Webber, in 1935; and brothers, Gay and Lesley James.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda (Richard) Tharp of Green Valley; sons, Thomas (Linda) Webber of Napa and William E. (Sherry) Webber of Vallejo; brother, James C. (Mabel) James of Yuma, Ariz.; grandchildren, Charlene (Matthew) Webber-Schuss of Monterey, Jeffery (Amy) Webber of Vacaville, Richard D. Tharp of Fairfield, Stephen E. (Melissa) Tharp of Vacaville, Lindsey Swift of Benicia and Danielle Swift of Vallejo; and great-grandchildren, Chloe and Samuel Tharp, Cassandra and Madison Webber, Elinor Schuss and Anthony Jimenez.

At her request, private family services will be held.

Arrangements are under the direction of Twin Chapels Mortuary, Vallejo.

The family would prefer donations sent to your local chapter of Meals on Wheels.

Felix Victa Ballar

Sept. 26, 1922 - June 2, 2004

Felix Victa Ballar, 81, of Vallejo died Wednesday at home.

Visitation will be at Colonial Chapels, Vallejo, from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday, with a vigil at 7 p.m. Saturday.

A prayer service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Colonial Chapels.

Sister Peter Damian Lang

June 16, 1918 - May 31, 2004

Sister Peter Damian Lang O.P., (Grace Margaret Lang), a native of Passaic, N.J., died peacefully in San Rafael on Monday.

Sister Peter Damian entered the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael in 1952. Sister taught and administered for 16 years, primarily in secondary education, including: Manogue High School in Reno, Nev.; St. Vincent Ferrer High School, Vallejo; and San Domenico Upper School, San Anselmo.

In 1971, Sister Peter Damian was elected for two terms as prioress general of the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael. In 1981, Sister Peter Damian was appointed chair of the Board of Trustees at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno; she served in that position for 11 years.

During the tenure a special project of Sister's was the founding of the Casa da Vida, a home providing support services for unmarried pregnant women. In 1993, Sister Peter Damian retired from hospital ministry and moved to Vallejo, where she continued to bring her gifts and talents in service with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. For the past eight years she has been in residence at Our Lady of Lourdes Convent in San Rafael.

A private vigil service will be held Friday, June 4, at Our Lady of Lourdes Convent in San Rafael. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m., also on Friday, at the Dominican Sisters' Center, 1520 Grand Ave., San Rafael. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Dominic's Cemetery, Benicia.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dominican Sisters of San Rafael, 1520 Grand Ave., San Rafael, CA 94901.

Joan Knight

May 20, 1950 - May 26, 2004

Joan A. Knight, 54, died May 26 at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center-Redwood City. She was a Benicia resident for 25 years.

Inurnment will be private.

Arrangements were made by Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo.

Toney Mosley Sr.

March 30, 1963 - May 28, 2004

Toney Ray Mosley Sr., 41, died Friday at Highland Hospital in Oakland. Mr. Mosley was a resident of Vallejo and Oakland.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Harmony Baptist Church, 4113 Telegraph Ave., Oakland, with Pastor Al Cobbs officiating.

John A. Daly

July 17, 1918 - June 2, 2004

John A. Daly, retired chief master sergeant, passed away peacefully June 2, 2004, in Fairfield.

Beloved husband of the late Marjorie Daly. Loving father of Ann Mitchell. Dear grandfather of Matthew and Virginia Mitchell.

John was born July 17, 1918, in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force, retiring as chief master sergeant. After his retirement from the Air Force in 1967 he went on to teach at the Air Force ROTC program at Fairfield High School, retiring in 1983.

Friends are invited to attend the graveside service at 2 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery, 1707 Union Ave., Fairfield.

The family respectfully requests contributions in John's memory be made to Diabetes Society, 801  Jefferson St., Fairfield, CA 94533.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 425-4694.

Russell "Boot" James Martin

Jan. 5, 1949 - May 21, 2004

Russell James Martin, 55, died of cancer Friday, May 21 at Sutter Solano Medical Center in Vallejo. He was born in Richmond and was a Vallejo resident for 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David John Martin.

Survivors include his son, Jesse James of Orangevale; John Paul David of Santa Rosa; brother, Brian of Orangevale.

Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 4 at Church of Christ, 3450 El Portal Dr., Richmond. Inurnment at Rolling Hills Cemetery, Richmond.

Stephen Edward Frisbie

Dec. 11, 1934 - Jan. 12, 2004

Stephen Edward Frisbie, 69, of Vallejo, died Monday at Sutter Solano Medical Center.

A visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with a vigil at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Colonial Chapels. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Colonial Chapels. Private inurnment will be at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.
