Dale Curtis Hurd

Oct. 29, 1962 - April 1, 2004

Dale Curtis Hurd of Vallejo died April 1 at the age of 41 as a result of a boating accident.

He was born in San Luis Obispo on Oct. 29, 1962, to the late Jimmie R. and Beverley L. Hurd. Dale grew up in Vallejo and graduated from Hogan High in 1981.

He worked for Caltrans for more than five years in a job he enjoyed, especially "shoulder-shopping." His least favorite workday was "litter pick-up day," as most Caltrans employees would agree.

Dale valued time with his family, tinkering with his grown-up toys and riding his prized Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He pushed everything to the limit, and lived life on his terms.

Dale leaves behind his wife of 10 years, Stacy (MacMillan); two beautiful daughters, Alexis, 16, and Amber, 9; his mother, Beverley; sister, Penne Usher of Cameron Park; and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Loren and Agnes Crowell, and his father, Jimmie Hurd.

We will miss his smile, his sparkling blue eyes, his laughter and never-ending wit.

The viewing will be held Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Skyview Memorial Lawn. Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at Skyview.
