Artemio Rilcopiro Antonio

Artemio Rilcopiro Antonio passed away on March 24, 2004 early in the morning. A long-term heart ailment was the cause of his passing. He was 55 years old. Family and many close friends in Vallejo, Hawaii, and the Philippines will miss him.

Artemio was raised in the green lush island of Santa Maria Ilocos Sur in the Philippines. In his ambitious 20s, he served in the military and was a Nautical Science graduate. A few months later, he was sent to Camp Aguinaldo, a military base in Quezon City, to serve in the Disaster Control Service Department. In 1979, he came to America to support his family back home.

A skilled tradesman in the Philippines, he worked in maintenance for Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael. After 5 years, his love of building homes became a reality. For many years, Artemio was an active church member at Faith Gospel church on Sonoma Blvd. He was a member of the Men's Fellowship and church choir. He also served as an usher, performed skits with the men and sang Filipino songs to the congregation. He vastly enjoyed the company of his friends, playing cards and singing Karaoke. A fantastic cook, Art was well known for his tasty "pinakbet," a vegetable dish with succulent goat meats brimming with succulent eggplant, squash, okra, onion and bitter melon. He recently took up ballroom dancing with his wife practicing in the evenings with his fellow Tango friends, perfecting the art. While building a new community of thoughtful and true friends.

Art is survived by Nora B. Antonio, his wife of 31 years. He has an older sister named Milagros Antonio, residing in the Philippines. He has four children. The eldest are twin girls, both
