Raymond Leo Majesky-Beaudoin

Raymond Leo Majesky-Beaudoin, 57 year old Siskiyou County resident, passes away at his home in Hornbrook on Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998.

Raymond was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on December 21, 1940 to Homer and Rita Beaudoin. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961 as a telegrapher and French interpreter for the fleet in Europe. Raymond was a past member of the California Professional Hypnotist Association and the American Guild of Hypnotherapists. He was an author, teacher and lecturer and practiced holistic healing techniques and hypnotherapy for some 20 years. Raymond was a minister for the Universal Church of the Master and also spent time teaching awareness classes and self healing through hypnosis. He and his wife Katherine moved to Siskiyou County in 1991 from Sebastopol and made their home in Hornbrook.

In addition to his wife Katherine, he is survived by his mother, Rita Lewis of Worcester, Massachusetts; 3 step-children, Ed Balmer of Kingston,  Washington, David Balmer of Anza, Karl Majesky of Hornbrook; 2 brothers, Ronald Beaudoin of Germany, Roger Beaudoin of Grafton, Massachusetts; 3 sisters, Jeannie Couture, Joann Muzzy, Janet Goldschmitt all of Worcester, Massachusetts; one grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

No services are planned. Girdner Funeral Chapel is handling the cremation arrangements.

Claretta Thelon Moe

Mrs. Claretta Thelon Moe, 85 year old Weed resident, died Jan. 28, 1998 at Weed Nursing & Rehab Center in Weed of natural causes.

Claretta was born April 22, 1912 in Watson, Minnesota. Claretta lived in Yuba City from 1993 to 1997, then moved to Siskiyou County. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include sons, Charles Moe of Albany, Oregon, Henning Moe of Santa Cruz, Martin Moe of Stayton, Oregon, John Moe of Marysville, Paul Moe of Carmichael and Hudson and Edvin Moe both of Weed; daughters, Sonja Muster of Homer, Alaska, Vernita Bigler of Sylmar and Marion Concannon of Weed; a sister, Alice Ruth Dennison of Roseburg, Oregon; 33 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Claretta was predeceased by her husband Harald Moe and 2 sons, Harald and Woodrow Moe.

Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998 at Assembly of God Church in Weed. Pastor Fred Muster and Pastor Phil Bigler will officiate. Burial will follow at Winema Cemetery in Weed. Visitation will be private.

Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Sue Jennings Davis

Mrs. Sue Jennings Davis, 86, of Weed, died March 7, 1998 at Mercy Medical Center of natural causes.

Services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 12 at the Grace Presbyterian Church in Weed with burial at the Winema Cemetery in Weed. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Mar. 11, 1998 from 12-4:30 p.m. at the Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel. Pastors Ron Smith and Henry DeGraff of Grace Presbyterian will officiate.

Sue was born Nov. 8, 1911 in Doerun, Georgia. In 1940 she moved to Siskiyou County from Doerun, Georgia. She worked as a secretary for Weed High School for 18 years and was the church organist for the Grace Presbyterian for 53 years. Sue was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Weed; Sission  White Pine #175 OES; and Atlanta Rebeka Lodge #373 of Weed.

Survivors include her sons Franklin Davis of Mt. Shasta and Bill Davis of Norfolk, Virginia; daughter Darleen Ramsted of Whitmore; brother, Franklin Jennings of Jasper, Georgia; three grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, 1090 N. Davis St., Weed, CA 96094.

Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Dino George Marconi

Lifelong Siskiyou County resident, Dino George Marconi, 75, of Mt. Shasta, died Mar. 6, 1998 at his residence of natural causes.

Services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. March 13, 1998 at St. Antony's Catholic Church in Mt. Shasta, with a private visitation. Burial will follow at McCloud Cemetery. Father Aidan O'Reilly of St. Anthony's will officiate.

Dino was born May 12, 1922 in McCloud. He was a machinist for Champion International in McCloud for 50 years. Dino was a member of the Elks Lodge #2333 of Mt. Shasta; Son's of Italy in Weed; St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Mt. Shasta; and Seniors in Retirement.

Survivors include his nephew Roland Brooks of Mt. Shasta; sisters, Amila Rossi of Mt. Shasta and Angelina Malanca of San Jose.

Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Wanda Faye Karney

Hornbrook resident, Wanda Faye Karney, 73, passed away at Madrone Hospice House in Yreka on Aug. 5, 2003.

Wanda was born in Holton, Kansas on June 10, 1930 to Cornelius and Lucy Ridgway. She lived in Kansas, Oregon and California.

Wanda was married to E. James Karney on July 16, 1946 in Crescent City. She lived in Del Norte County for some 40 years. Wanda worked as a school bus driver for 27 years. She was a member of the Hornbrook Community Church and Welcome Wagon of Yreka.

In addition to her husband James of Hornbrook; survivors include two children, Jaunita Jellison of Mount Shasta and Jimmie Hayden of Crescent City; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

No services are planned.

Contributions may be made to Children's Summer Bible Camp, Hornbrook Community Church, P.O. Box 287, Hornbrook, CA. 96044.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Aug. 11 at the Hornbrook Community Church.

Girdner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Ora Jean Seaver

Ora Jean Seaver, passed away in Yreka on Oct. 5, 2003.

Ora and her twin brother, Oran, were born in Webb, Ariz. on Oct. 16, 1921. Coming from a large Mormon family, her parents, Rufus A. Jean and Ella Lovinnie Webb, had 13 children.

Ora eloped with Charles W. Seaver to Agua Prieta, Mexico an Dec. 5, 1936. They moved to Scott Valley in 1944 where they farmed for over 50 years.

Ora rode motorcycles, was a private pilot, drove windrower, chauffeured kids, and served as one of the first EMT's on the Etna Ambulance. She loved nursing from childhood and achieved her goal to be a nurse at age 43, working at the hospital and Beverly Manor in Yreka for years.

She was a great musician and was conductor in the Mormon church for almost 30 years. Always with a song in her heart and a sweet smile, she will be sorely missed by family and friends.

In addition to Charles, her beloved husband of over 66 years; survivors include children and their spouses, William Victor and Carol of Etna, Carol Diane and Bill Henry of Everett, Wash., Terry R. and Annelee Seaver of Pleasanton, Christine Elaine and Terry Kramer of Waldport, Ore. and Crynthia Jean and Nelson Palmer of Mesa, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 10 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Etna, with interment following.

Laura Martha (Boggs) Libby

Bend, Ore. resident, Laura Martha (Boggs) Libby, 48, died May 30, 2002.

A memorial service was held in early June.

Laura was born Nov. 1, 1953 in Placerville. She married Larry Libby on Nov. 12, 1977 in Yreka.

She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed teaching, spending time with her family, hiking and camping. Laura graduated from Multnomah School of the Bible and homeschooled her children from kindergarten through middle school.

She was affiliated with the First Baptist Church and worked with "Moms In Touch," praying for public school teachers. She also volunteered at Bend High School.

In 1992 she moved to Bend from Gresham, Ore.

In addition to her husband, Larry; she is survived by her parents, Robert and Patricia Boggs of Yreka; her brother, Ben Boggs of Sacramento; and her children, Matthew and Melissa, both of Bend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse, a Franklin Graham ministry, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607.

Deschutes Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Reverend Samuel L. Houston

Hornbrook resident, Reverend Samuel Lawrence Houston, died Aug. 2, 2002 at Roseburg Veterans Medical Center in Roseburg, Ore. of natural causes.

A memorial service will be held 7 p.m., tonight at the First Southern Baptist Church, 921 So. Oregon. St. in Yreka.

Reverend Houston was a native of Yucaipa. He came to Modesto in 1920. He was a minister for the Southern Baptist Church for 48 years.

Reverend Houston led churches in Modesto, Bakersfield and Susanville. He also managed a church park at Jenness Park, near Sonora, for eight years. He moved to Hornbrook in 1996. He served in the Army in 1945.

Reverend Houston is survived by his wife, Doris Lee Houston of Hornbrook; children, Nadine Phipps of Benson, Ariz., Gene Houston of Montague, Clark Houston of Lake Don Pedro and Logan Houston of Merced; 10 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Remembrances may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church, 921 S. Oregon St., Yreka, CA. 96097.

Dorothy O. Jones

Former long-time Hornbrook resident, Dorothy O. Jones, 88, passed away Oct. 19, 2002 at her home in Cameron Park.

No services are planned.

Dorothy was born March 17, 1914 in Riffe, Wash. She was well known for her beautiful yard, vegetable garden and prize winning baked goods.

Survivors include her son, Bill  Jones of Cameron Park; grandchildren, Tori, Danny and Trudi; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bob Justice of Crescent City.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; son Darrell; grandson Chris; and five brothers.

Remembrances may be made in Dorothy's name to the Darrell and Chris  Jones Scholarship Fund for students of Ponderosa and Oakridge High Schools, 3281 Chasen Dr., Cameron Park, CA. 95682 or Snowline Hospice, 670 Placerville Dr., Placerville, CA. 95667.

Green Valley Mortuary and Cemetery in Cameron Park handled the arrangements.

Joseph Louis Sandra

Joseph Louis Sandra, 87 of McCloud passed away on Dec. 14, 2002 of natural causes.

A memorial Mass is planned at a later date.

Sandra was born on Sept. 15, 1915 in Oakland. He was a welder for Pipe and Steam Fitters Local 342 and moved from Walnut Creek to Siskiyou County in 1975.

He is survived by his spouse Molly C. Sandra of McCloud, his son John L. Sandra of McCloud, and his daughter Jolene Mudgett of Concord. He is also survived by five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to Mercy Hospice at P.O. Box 239, Mount Shasta, CA 96067.
