DAY, HELEN SORENSON WILLIAMSON Helen died October 13, 2001 in an automobile accident near Reno, Nevada. She is survived by her beloved family, husband John Day of Sparks and Henderson, Nevada, daughters Ruth Person of Carmichael and Joan Scurran (Jeff) of Tucson, grandchildren Matthew and Andrew Person of Carmichael, Shelley Robinson (Jamie) of Tucson, and Joshua Scurran of Portland, Oregon, brother Arthur Peterson (Inga) of Vancouver,  Washington, sister-in-law Helen Sorenson of Renton,  Washington, seven nieces and nephews, several cousins, and many friends across the country. Helen was predeceased by her first husband, Edwin Williamson M.D., her parents Hans and Emma Sorenson, and her brothers Albert, Henry and Clarence Sorenson. She was born December 23, 1914 in Stady, North Dakota on a homestead, graduated from high school in Noonan where she played on the girls championship basketball team, and earned her RN degree at St. Barnabas Hospital nursing school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During WWII she served in the Army Nurse Corps in England, North Africa and Italy and achieved the rank of first lieutenant. After the war Helen returned to the States where she and Ed raised their daughters, in Battle Creek, Michigan. When Ed passed away she moved to Reno to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren, and continued her nursing work at Washoe Medical Center. She married John Day in 1991. Helen was involved lifelong in leadership positions in many church, school and community activities, including the Reno AARP. She also enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and reading and had traveled to all fifty states. She was a warm, caring and generous person and a friend to many. She will be sadly missed. Funeral services were held October 17, 2001 in Reno. Any remembrances may be made to the American Red Cross.

EARL SR., HERBERT Passed away peacefully on October 18, 2001 in Sacramento, CA. He was a native of Bayou Goula, LA. Member of the Mason Order Philomathean #2 and a Deacon at the Greater St. Stephen Church. The family invites you to his visitation on Friday, October 26, 2001 from 4-8PM with Masonic Rites at 7PM in THOMPSON'S ROSE CHAPEL, 3601 Fifth Ave. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2001 - 11AM at Greater St. Stephen Church 6380 63rd Street. EKLOF, MURIEL B. LARSON In Sacramento on October 23, 2001. Beloved wife of John Eklof for 49 years, who preceded her in death in 1995. She is survived by her loving family; daughter, Nancy Concklin and her husband Gerald; son, David Eklof and his children Mark, Ellen and Emily; daughter, Judy Watts and her husband Dave and two children, Lindsey and Jeffrey and daughter Sherri Eklof and her son, Jordan Hayes. Also her sister-in-law, Myrtle Widmark and her family and many long-time friends. Raised in Berkeley, she moved to Sacramento after getting married. She was a member of the Sacramento Fine Arts Center for many years and will always be remembered for her beautiful paintings that so many are fortunate to have hanging in their homes. There will be a private service. Because Muriel had such a love of animals, the family requests that memorials be made to the Sacramento SPCA or the Castaway Animal Sanctuary, P.O. ERICKSON, BARBARA J. SELBY Age 79, born February 20, 1922, passed away from a massive stroke on October 21, 2001 at Villa Pomerado in Poway, CA. Barbara was a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. She obtained a Master's Degree at a later date. She was a Home Economics Teacher for many years in the Sacramento School District. Barbara was a very devout Christian. She was preceeded in death by her husband Floyd Erickson. She is survived by her two sons, Steven Marcus of Vancouver, B.C. and Kirk Erickson of San Jose. She is also survived by a brother, William "Bill" Selby of Petrolia, CA. No services will be held.

FEBANSKE, LEROY FRANK Born May 27, 1918. Passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2001. Beloved husband of Rosa Febanske. Loving father of Martin and Adriana. Caring brother of Mabel Knick of Fresno, CA. FLOYD, CHARLES "SIR CHARLES" A long time resident of Rancho Cordova, passed away surrounded by family And friends on October 19, 2001. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 yrs., Vera. Two daughters, Kay and husband David, Patricia and husband, David. Three sons, Michael, Jack and wife, Nancy, Stephen and wife Bev. Eight grandchildren, and Four great grandchildren. Two brothers, William and Jack and Sisters, Joan and Lilly all Of England also survive him. Charles was a member of the Royal Air Force in WWII. Also a member of the Moose Lodge and Shriners. FOEY, HENRY L. In Sacramento, October 16, 2001. Brother of Pearl  Jones of Monterey, Lily Mason of San Leandro, Sam Foey of Oregon, Helen Louis, Annie Wong, Fannie Wong, and David Foey all of Sacramento and Brenda Foey of Oregon. He leaves many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces & Great Nephews. A native of Red Bluff, aged 67 years. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea, has lived in Sacramento for the past 50 years and retired as a Foreman from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years. HOLLAND, JACQUELINE "JACKIE" Born 3/25/50 in Webster, Mass. Passed away Oct. 21, 2001. She is survived by her loving husband, Dana Holland, and children Scott, Nicole and Jason. Cherished grandmother to Brandon and Clarrisa. Beloved sister to Jim and his wife Patty. Daughter of James Joseph Maloney, Sr. and Annette Marie Maloney. Native of Sacramento. Member of the Capitol City Mountain Goats, Rough and Ready, Sacramento Jeepers, she loved the outdoors, jeeping, and her family. A beautiful person and gentle soul, she will be missed. HUFF, MARY KATHLEEN March 25,1935 - October 21, 2001. Mary was preceded in death by husband Robert L. Huff, parents Harold and Marjorie Teasley. HUNT, HAROLD A. A Sacramento dairyman and rancher for many years, went suddenly to heaven on October 18, 2001. He was born to a pioneer family in Elk Grove, CA, on August 18, 1922. He attended schools in Elk Grove and graduated from the University of California at Davis. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II. He was a founding member of Faith Bible Church, and served as an elder for many years. He will be sadly missed by Audrey, his beloved wife of 50 years, and by his children, Susan Gonzalez, William Hunt, Patricia Dann, David Hunt, Nancy Pease, Donald Hunt, and their spouses; and by fourteen grandchildren, his brother, Wilfred Hunt, and his sister, Marian Cahill. Friends are welcome for visitation Friday from 3PM to 8PM at Andrews & Greilich, 3939 Fruitridge Road, and are invited to attend a service at Faith Bible Church, 2231 59th St., Sacto, CA, on Saturday at 2PM, and the burial at East Lawn Cemetery, following the service. ISBILL, LULUBELLE LOWE Born July 14, 1916 in West Ely, Missouri. Passed away on October 23, 2001 in Fair Oaks. Preceded in death by her husband Rev. O. Ralph Isbill. Survived by her son, Terry Isbill and wife Nancy, daughter, Vonda Mellott and husband Carl; brother, Gerald Lowe of Burlington, lA; 5 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. KELLEY, JUNE A. Passed away in Cedar Grove on October 22, 2001. She was the beloved wife for 55 years of Robert Kelley; Loving mother of Robert Larson of Cedar Grove, Michael Kelley of Hawaii, and Patrick Kelley of Lake Tahoe, CA; Loved grandmother of 4. She was preceded in death by her first husband Wayne Larson and also her brother Clive Mefford. She was a native of Greeley, CO, a graduate of the McClatchy High School Class of 1940 and resided in Carmichael until moving to Cedar Grove with her husband in 1983. She worked for 21 years until retirement from McClellan AFB. In her free time she loved animals, gardening, painting landscapes, gambling and horseback riding at Lake Tahoe. She also volunteered at the Stanford Home for Children. She was 79 years of age. Friends are welcome for services on Saturday, October 27, 2001 at 2:00 PM at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento. Burial will follow.

KENT, LEONA M. In Carmichael on October 21, 2001, at the age of 85. Born in Chicago, Illinois on February 4, 1916. Mrs. Kent's entire professional career was spent working with men and women who were addicted to alcohol and other drugs. While working as Prevention Coordinator for the State Department of Alcoholism Program in the early 1960's she pioneered new and innovative programs in prevention and paraprofessional training. In the 1970's she began a long tenure as the Executive Director of the Women's Recovery Association (WRA) of San Mateo County, CA. Under her direction WRA become a nationally recognized program for recovering women. Mrs. Kent was involved at both the state and national level on boards and commissions related to alcohol and drug problems. She was a founding member of the California Women's Commission on Alcoholism. She was also listed in California's Who's Who and was elected to the San Mateo County Women's Hall of Fall in 1985. Upon retirement in 1985 she returned to Carmichael to be near her family. Mrs. Kent authored a number of articles on recovery from addiction and is the co-editor of the book, "The Paraprofessional in the Field of Alcoholism, A New Profession." This past July she celebrated her 50th year of sobriety. Mrs. Kent was the widow of Edwin Kent of Carmichael and the mother of eight children, seven of whom survive her: Darlene Davis of Sacramento, CA; Garth Kent of Victoria, Canada; Timothy Kent of New Mexico, David Piercy of Eugene, Oregon; Donald Piercy of Drain, Oregon; Jay Piercy of Lincoln, CA; Barbara Willbur of Elverta, CA. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 27, under the direction of Mount Vernon Memorial Park and Mortuary located at 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA. Remembrances preferred to Women's Recovery Association (WRA), 1450 Chapin Avenue, First Floor, Burlingame, CA 94010, Attention: Bette McDonnell or to any other non-profit organization related to the prevention and treatment of addiction.

Morrison and family, all of Sacramento. Sister Judith and husband Ronald Bond and family of Pleasanton, brother Danny Sisk of San Louis Obispo and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services are to be held Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, 10AM at Sac. Memorial Lawn, 6100 Stockton Blvd., with a gathering to follow.

LANSDON, MABLE Born March 9, 1932, peacefully passed away to continue her journey with our Lord on October 24 in Oroville. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, JW. Lansdon of 33 years. She is survived by three brothers, Bill Glaspie of Oroville, CA; Jim Glaspie of Post Falls, ID; and Kenneth Glaspie of Clarkston, WA.; by her three children, Venita and David Ellick of Bainbridge Island, WA, Ron and Jeri Lansdon of Rancho Cordova, CA, and Anina and Mark  Jones of Kooskia, ID; by her six grandchildren, Eric Raynolds, Michael Ellick, Sean Ellick, Amanda Jones, Ryan Jones, and Jay Lansdon and by many other nieces and nephews. She was a long time resident of Orangevale, CA and a recent resident of Oroville. She will be remembered for her gracious demeanor and her optimistic spirit that greeted everyone with a smile. Her grandchildren will always remember Grandma saying, "You're so pretty, you hurt my eyes." Our love for our mother will follow her to Heaven and her legacy will be with us for all the days of our lives. LEE, SAMUEL ALLEN Samuel Allen Lee, 76, passed away Wednesday, October 17th, 2001 at his home. He was born September 29th, 1925 in Paris, Arkansas, the son of Daniel and Hattie Bernice Lee. Sam was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific with the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946, aboard the USS Belle Grove. After leaving the service, Sam settled in the Marysville California area where he met and married Stella LaVerne Shaw on November 9th, 1946. Sam moved his family to Roseville in 1948 after becoming employed by the Pacific Fruit Express in Roseville. Sam also operated several businesses in the Roseville and Citrus Heights area during the late 50s and early 60s. He briefly ran a dry cleaning service in Old Town Roseville, owned and operated Sam's Signal Service Station in Citrus Heights on Auburn Blvd, and was a licensed Real Estate Broker handling properties in the Roseville/Citrus Heights area. He went to work for Sacramento Regional Transit, as a bus driver in 1965 and worked there until his retirement in 1995 with 30 years of service. During retirement, Sam volunteered his time and services to the Salvation Army. Sam enjoyed working with the public and went to great length's to provide his customers the best of service. Customers of his service station always received "full service" and when things were a little tight, a few extra days to pay the bill. Regular passengers on his bus route will remember him as someone who displayed great personal interest in them. Over the years, we came to feel as if we personally knew the regulars of his various routes from the stories he brought home. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and brother. Surviving are his wife of Roseville; his children, Stephen Allen Lee and partner Elaine of North Odgen UT; Mitchell Scott Lee and wife Linda of Roseville; Vincent Pike Lee of Roseville; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and nephew Curtis Lee of Petaluma. Family requests donations, in lieu of flowers, to the Salvation Army, Lincoln Street, Roseville.

LEWIN, KATHLEEN (CHICKIE) Of Fair Oaks, October 23, 2001, a native of San Francisco, age 55 years. Wife of Eugene Lewin. Mother of Sheri Lewin. Sister of Edward Stokes (Josie), John Stokes, her twin sister Norma Berg (Timothy), Colleen Seck (Donald) and Mark Stokes (Diane). Friends are invited to attend a memorial service celebrating Chickie's life Saturday 10AM at PRICE FUNERAL CHAPEL (6335 Sunrise Blvd, Citrus Heights, 725-2109). MARTIN-KINT, BETTY LOU Born May 8, 1931. Passed away at a local hospital Oct. 19 after a lengthy illness. A native of  Oklahoma, she was a graduate of Portola High School before moving to Sacramento 50 years ago. She was a 34 year employee of Western Union. She ended her working career as a secretary with the Salvation Army. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Genevieve Martin of North Highlands and a sister of the late Charles Martin of Reno. She is survived by her husband Wayne. She was a member of the Retired Western Union Employee's Association and a member of the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society and the Western Swing Society. In respect to her wishes there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Salvation Army or the American Diabetes Association. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes.

MATALONE, DOMINICK (DOM) 54, rose to the Spirit World to continue his journey on Oct. 22, 2001. Still loving him are his mother Mickey Crocker, his wife Lindy, his children Rich Sampognaro and Suzie  Whitesel, his grandchildren Rocky, B.J., Jaime D., Jenna and many, many friends he loved while here. MAYER, STANLEY The Native American community lost a great champion on October 23, 2001. Stanley Mayer, a Mono Indian healer, has been called to join his Spirit Helpers. Born December 21, 1947, and raised in North Fork, California, Stanley was the only son of Bill and Sylvena Mayer. Stan spent 24 years at the State Department of Health Services, where he worked to improve the lives of Native Americans throughout California. He was instrumental in organizing the Chaw Se Traditional Medicine Gathering. Because of Stan's vision, the Bear Dance Ceremony has become a treasured annual event at the Round House in Yosemite. Stan was a tireless advocate on behalf of the non-federally- recognized tribes. A Viet Nam veteran, Stan also devoted himself to helping fellow veterans at the yearly Stand Down here in Sacramento. Stan will be sorely missed by his many devoted friends. Remembrances may be made to the Mono Nation, P.O.Box 1377, and North Fork, CA 93643 A sweat will be held in Stan's honor at 6pm Saturday in North Fork. McINTYRE, RUTH Received by the Lord, October 21, 2001 in Sacramento. Born Martha Ruth Wise August 5, 1912 in Bridge Port,  Texas to John Qunnie Wise and Pattie Morgan, the third of seven children. Ruth resided in the Carmichael area for the past 50 years. Once the Executive House Keeper for the Sacramento Inn. Hobbies included bowling, square dancing (Pathfinders) and gardening. A member of Carmichael Presbyterian Church. Ruth was a modern day Will Rogers as she never met anyone she didn't like. Ruth was preceded in death by husband Maurice A. McIntyre and daughter Hazel Jo Vegas. She is survived by a loving brother Donald Wise and wife Mimi, sons Gill McIntyre (Mardel), San Diego, Gary McIntyre, North Highlands. Grandchildren Glen Vegas (Sandi), Carmichael, Susan Gratner (Chuck), Mt. Lebanon, PA., Jeffery McIntyre (Courtney), Saugas, CA., Mark McIntyre (Amanda), San Diego, Sean McIntyre, Reno, NV., 9 great grand children and 2 great great grandchildren. ACKERMAN, PATRICIA LEE In Folsom, October 25, 2001. Wife of Roger Ackerman; mother of Susan, Judy, Amy, and Mark Ackerman; sister of Sandra McFarland; grandmother of Rachael, Caroline, and Stephen. A native of Bellaire, Ohio, aged 62 years. Mrs. Ackerman was a Professor of Nursing at California State University at Sacramento. Her passions included her family and teaching. ADAMCZYK, KATHRYN "KAY" 7/30/37 to 10/19/01 Kay passed on peacefully in Olympia, WA. A native of Philadelphia, PA, and a longtime resident of Sacramento, CA. She was 64 years old. Preceded in death by her late husband, Frederick Adamczyk of Buffalo, NY. Forever loved and sadly missed, she leaves three children, Frederick Adamczyk, Donna Adamczyk, and Kathy Monroe Billingsley (late son-in-law Donald Monroe) and wonderful new son-in-law Ron Billingsley of Sacramento, CA; five grandchildren, Valerie Schield-Avalos of Sacramento, CA, Robert and Diana Schield Jr. of Bakersfield, CA, Manfred Schield of Folsom, CA, and Christopher Monroe and Donald Monroe II of Sacramento, CA; three great-grandchildren Dallis Avalos and Gabriel Moreno of Sacramento, CA, and Samantha Schield of Bakersfield, CA. Kay served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps. Her hobbies were dolls, and all sorts of needlework. Kay worked hard at various jobs all of her life and always did her best. She will be forever loved, missed, and remembered by all. Services will be private.

AZEVEDO, RICHARD D. In Sacramento, Age 59. A life long resident of Sacramento, born April 28, 1942. Preceded in death by his father, Virgil S. Azevedo and his grandparents, Pansy B. and Dr. Manuel L. Azevedo and Lelia Belle Wyatt. Survived by his mother, Merle L. Azevedo. His wife, Patricia, father of Kevin, Christy and Eric. Richard was a graduate of Hiram  Johnson H.S. where he was a member of the football and track teams. He graduated from California State University at San Francisco in 1966. After completion of college he served in the Army for two years at the rank of Sergent. He became a licensed architect in 1982, and worked for the University of California at Davis, Office of Architects and Engineers for more than 25 years. He was especially proud that he was project manager for the Comparative Medicine facility and the Vet Med Diagnostic Lab. In 1989 he received an A & PS Achievement Award from UCD for outstanding performance. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects, and participated in the annual  White Knuckle Downhill Race held at Northstar. He will be missed by family and friends. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10 AM at Andrews & Greilich Mortuary, 3939 Fruitridge Rd., Sacramento. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice.

BORRE, MARY E. Passed away on October 4, 2001 in Sacramento. She was born on January 20, 1937 and was a resident of Elk Grove for the past 15 years. Lovingly known as Granny Goose, she is survived by her husband Jim and sons Michael and Matthew. She was a devoted grandmother to Nathan, Kaylee, Kristin, Nickelous and Elizabeth. Family and friends are invited to an open house in celebration of her life on Sunday, October 28th from 1:00pm - 4:00pm at 12215 Blake Rd. in Wilton. BRAUN, III, CARL ROBERT (TRE) Born July 13, 1946 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Passed away at home in Antelope on October 26, 2001. Loving husband of Jennie. Loving father of Nicole and Jillian. Devoted grandfather of Qiyaman ChappelI and DeJon January. Caring son of Robert Chappell and Geneva Townsend. Brother of Janet Benton, Ruth Jackson, Larry Chappell and Michael Chappell. Son-in law of Rev. Lue Bertha Potts. Also leaves a host of other loving relatives and friends. Preceded in death by a brother Bob Earl Chappell. Friends may call at MORGAN  Jones CHAPEL OF CHIMES , 4200 Broadway on Monday, October 29, 2001 from 3-7PM and may attend his service on Tuesday at 11AM at St. Jude Christian Center, 2828 33rd Street. Interment Sacramento Memorial Lawn.

CLICK, KENNETH VINCENT Passed away in Sacramento, California, on October 22, 2001, Kenneth Vincent Click, 88, beloved husband, father grandfather and brother. Mr. Click was born December 9, 1912 in Sheridan, California. He attended Sacramento High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II. During his lifetime, Mr. Click enjoyed bowling, playing golf and spending time with his family, as well as his membership in SIRS. He built a career in the frozen food business until his retirement as division manager at United Grocers Association. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Juanita, his daughters, Christine, of Garden Valley, and Valerie, of Sacramento, five grandchildren, Mark, Sloan, Caton, Zachary and Lacey, two of his sisters, Ethelda and Yolonda and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest sister, Hermona. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on October 29, 2001 at East Lawn Memorial Park, Folsom Blvd. at 43rd Street. In celebration of his life, family and friends are invited to meet for a round of golf at Bing Maloney Golf Course at 1:00 p.m., October 29, 2001.
