JOSEPH JR. Joseph Niedzwiedz, born on September 11, 1935, passed away gently at home in Sacramento, California on November 6, 2001, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived and cherished by his beloved wife of 42 years, Judith Trowe Niedzwiedz. He also leaves and is loved by his son John Niedzwiedz, daughter Alicia Davis, son-in-law Aaron Davis, Sr., grandsons Carl and Adam Niedzwiedz and Aaron Davis Jr., and granddaughter Anna Davis, all of Sacramento. He is survived and cherished by his loving mother Veronica Niedzwiedz, brother Charles Niedzwiedz and sister-in-law Saundra, nephews Donn Niedzwiedz (April and Cody) all of Westminster, South Carolina, and Chris Niedzwiedz (Brenda) of Florida. His father Joseph Niedzwiedz Sr. preceded him in death. Mr. Niedzwiedz was born and raised in Fairfield, Connecticut, educated in Fairfield County schools and entered the U.S. Air Force in 1953. He served with Air Rescue in Labrador and the Strategic Air Command at Travis and Mather Air Force Bases. He left the Air Force in 1961 and owned and operated two Joe's Chevron Stations in Sacramento for 28 more years. After retiring he worked as a diesel engine mechanic at the Sacramento Lumber Jack Distribution Center, retiring only after a long battle with lung and tongue cancers. Mr. Niedzwiedz was an avid golfer, mariner and fisherman, spending many hours on the links and waterways around California and beyond. He was a member and past president of the Sacramento Lions Club and a member and past Commander of the Twelfth District U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He had an extensive collection of polkas and other Polish music which he loved to share with family and friends. He has been cared for at home by his wife for the last ten years and spent his last days in the loving embrace of his family. The family wishes to thank the staff of Kaiser Hospice Program for the care and support which provided comfort, love and dignity to Mr. Niedzwiedz & his family in his final days. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Florin Road and Gardner Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95828. Inurnment will be private and there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice or the Kaiser Permanente Hospice Program, 2025 Morse Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95825. PANEBIANCO, ALESSANDRO Of North Highlands, everyone called him "Al" for short. Al passed away in Sacramento on November 9, 2001 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Ada Panebianco for 48 years. Al and Ada, both Air Force military veterans, were married in Nagoya, Japan in 1953. Dear father of Rosalind Davis (Richard) and their children, Jennifer and Timothy, of Antelope and Steven (Julie) and their children, Adam, Jena, Nicholas and Anna of Vancouver, WA. Son of Rosalind Archer and brother to Matt Bianco (Zuleica) of Houston TX. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1926. Retired USAF from Beale AFB in 1967. Charter member of the Italian Catholic Federation (ICF), Branch 236 and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4647, North Highlands. POWELL, CHARLES In Sacramento on November 11, 2001. He is survived by his children Linda Bonnet and Jeff Powell; Grandchildren Sheri Bonnet and Sean Bonnet; Great-granddaughter April Butler; and a sister MaryJane Lillard. SEPAROVICH, MICHAEL J. In Sacramento, November 10, 2001 at the age of 94. He was the loving father of James (Janis), Robert (Patricia) and Richard (Marianne) Separovich. The adoring grandfather of Rebecca (Todd) Wolger, Michelle (Todd) Carrey, David, Matthew (Kristi), Mark, Michael, and Monica Separovich. Great grandfather of Jack & Lucas Wolger, Jason & Will Carrey and John Separovich. Brother in law of Marie and Theresa Separovich. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was the husband for 62 years of the late Mary Manassero Separovich. He was the brother of the late Tony and Mark Separovich and Francis Kavaloski. A Sacramento resident for 91 years Michael was born on September 10, 1907 in the town of Blato, on the island of Korcula on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, which was, at the time, a province of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His parents brought him to Sacramento at the age of 3 years. He graduated from the old St. Stephens School and attended Sacramento High School. He played semi pro baseball as a young man and has been inducted into several local bush league halls of fame along with his two brothers Tony & Mark. Michael also played soccer. He and his brother Mark were on the Dante Club teams that, in the twenties defeated the Olympic Club of S.F. two years in a row to win the State Cup. Michael worked as a machinist and tool maker at the Southern Pacific shops, starting his employment there in 1922 at the age of 15 and retiring in 1972. He was a charter member of Sutter Lodge No. 536 of the International Association of Machinists serving as an officer and representative. He was active in the Sons in Retirement, the Eagles Lodge, The Southside Improvement Club, The Italian Catholic Federation and the LaSalle Club of Christian Brothers High School. He was an honorary alumnus of Christian Brothers. Family and friends are welcome to the Recitation of the Rosary Wednesday at 6PM in the LAND PARK CHAPEL OF HARRY A. SWARTZ, KAY ELLEN Kay Ellen Swartz was born Feb. 1, 1955, in Roseville, CA, passed away in the morning of Nov. 8, 2001, at her home in Antelope, CA. Beloved wife, of Raymond E. Swartz and loving mother of Stacey D. House. Kay is survived by her brothers Emil H. Bosick, Jr. of Sacramento, CA, and William G. Bosick of Wheatland, CA, and by her sister Deborah D. Bosick of Washington, DC, was a graduate of Roseville High School in 1973. She worked in the insurance industry 17 years for All State, Etna, and USAA. ABNER, ERNEST C. Age 70, passed away November 11, 2001. ACKER, GARY MARTIN Born on October 25, 1954, passed away in Sacramento, California on November 7, 2001. Gary Martin graduated from McClatchy High School and worked for the Department of Corrections and the D.M.V. for almost 11 years. Gary Martin was a very patriotic U.S. Marine who served as a Shipboard Marine, USS Ranger CVA-61. He traveled around the world and spoke several foreign languages such as Spanish, Portuguese and German. Dearly beloved husband for 15 years of Dora Carolina Acker and loving father of John Martin Acker and Franchesca Nicole Acker. Loving son of Carl and Joyce Acker and dearly loved son-in-law of Luis and Dora Salazar. Gary Martin was very passionate about camping, biking, swimming, diving, hiking, kayaking and skiing. ALLEN, MARVIN O. Born in Cleveland, Arkansas, September 28, 1919, passed away at home, November 12, 2001, at age 82. In 1948 he moved to Sacramento and worked as a welder for the Southern Pacific Railroad retiring in 1980 after 30 years of service. He was a devoted husband and father and a devout Christian and was a member of the Oak Park and Central Church of Christ from 1950. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Valerie Lynn Allen. BRINKOETTER, CARL "BUD" Passed away November 10, 2001 at home in Nampa, ID, age 79. Carl was born June 20, 1922 in Decatur, IL to Bernard J. and Marie Appenzellar Brinkoetter. Carl served in the Company A 823rd tank destroyer battalion in the US Army during WWII. He was a prisoner of war for 6 days before he was able to escape. Carl was awarded the Battle Honors and a Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. Carl returned to Decatur after his discharge in 1945 and on June 13, 1947 married Nancy A. Eaton in Kansas City, KS. They had two sons, Anthony "Tony" in 1950 and Mark in 1954. Carl worked at various railroads and as a commercial painter before taking a job in 1950 as a civilian tool and die maker at the Decatur Army Depot. In 1960 Carl was transferred to the Sacramento, CA Army Depot and worked there until his retirement in 1977. Carl and Nancy have made their home in Nampa, ID since 1990 where he enjoyed yard sales and fishing. Carl is survived by his wife Nancy A.; son Anthony "Tony" and his wife Dorothy of Logandale, NV, son Mark A. and his wife Dolores of Nampa. Granddaughters Leeann Mary Brinkoetter, who attends University of Nevada at Las Vegas, Nancy Diane Brinkoetter of Nampa, ID and Meda Miller of Nampa, ID. Brother Tom and his wife Jackie of Decatur, IL; sister Evelyn Longeran of Jacksonville, IL, sister Dorothy Raver and her husband Dwight of Decatur, IL. His parents preceded him in death. BROWN D.D.S., WARREN HARDY Born August 31, 1920 in San Francisco, CA. Passed away gently at his home in Sacramento, CA on November 7, 2001, surrounded by his loving family. Survived by his beloved wife Wilma of 55 years, daughter Pamela Telles, son Stephen Brown, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, grandchildren James (Erica) Telles, Lynne (Jeff) Gibboney, Matthew (Laurie) Telles, Corinne and Andrea Brown, great grandchildren Brooke and Conrad Gibboney, Autumn Telles and loving brother-in-law of Beth Manning and Tom Kircher. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1937 and attended San Francisco State before serving in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Searaven in the Pacific during W.W.II. Following his return to civilian life, he attended U.C. Berkeley for pre-dental and graduated in 1960 from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, in San Francisco. He had a private dental practice in Castro Valley, CA before moving to Sacramento where he worked as a dentist for the California Youth Authority, Northern Reception Center Clinic until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed soccer as a participant, coach and spectator. His favorite leisure activities were fishing, camping and hiking in the Sierras at Mono Hot Springs, wood carving, cooking and spending quality time with his loving family and friends. Former member of Alameda and Sacramento County Dental Societies and of the National and local chapters of the U.S. Submarine Veteran's of World War II. Member of St. Georges Episcopal Church, Carmichael. The family wishes to thank the staff of Kaiser Hospice Program for the care and support which provided comfort, love and dignity to Warren and his family in his final days. CLEMENCE, JAMES ELDEAN Born July 2, 1914, in Delmont, Pennsylvania. Passed away at home November 2001, at age 87. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Elizabeth (Busy) Clemence. His loving sons, James Barry and Robert Wayne, survive Jim. Five grandchildren, Christopher, John, Shannon, Sara, and Todd; three great grandchildren, Jennifer, Patrick, and Brenden; one great great grandchild; his loving niece Linda Clemence Reib and her husband Larry; his companion and dear friend, Lenora Meddles; his sister-in-law Jeannette Hoffman and her husband Darwin. Jim was in the grocery business all his life and a member of Retail Clerks Local 588 Union. He enjoyed many activities and weekends on his houseboat where he entertained family and friends. Jim was an avid golfer and a member of Mission Oaks Senior Center, where he enjoyed playing pinochle. He was a member of the Nifty Fifties Senior Group, attending breakfasts, parties, and other activities and will be missed there by many of his friends. A gathering of family and friends celebrating Jim's life will be held Saturday, November 17, from 12-4, at 2313 Santa Anita Drive, Sacramento. FREEMAN, MARGARET JANE Passed away, in Santa Rosa on Tuesday, November 6, 2001 at the age of 52. Beloved wife of 29 years to Michael John Freeman; loving mother of Carrie Ann Freeman, a graduate student at Oregon State University, Katherine Marie Freeman, a student at UC Berkeley and Goal Keeper on UCB Women's Soccer Team; and dear sister of Christine Gunter of Salinas. Maggie received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences in 1971 from University of California, Davis. She completed her studies in Exfoliative Cytology at the University of California, San Francisco in 1972. Maggie was employed for 12 years as a Cytotechnologist and was a wonderful Domestic Goddess (aka Homemaker). She was a native of San Francisco, and a resident of Sonoma County for 25 years. Margaret belonged to many clubs and organizations including: Past President and Member of the Board of the Sonoma/Napa/Marin Women's Tennis League; a Past Treasurer and Board Member for Santa Rosa United Youth Soccer; twice a Member of Sonoma County Grand Jury; Past Secretary of the Mirabel Kayakers; a Youth Soccer Coach - Team Magic won the State Association Cup as U-12's; a player on the Santa Rosa Hustler's Women Soccer Team 1977-1988; a Player on Hap's Hazards Coed Volleyball Team and a Lair of the Bear Camper for 14 years. Maggie was very involved in promoting and encouraging sports for kids. She enjoyed traveling, board games and pulling practical jokes on friends. Maggie was always ready for an adventure. Her greatest pleasure was her two daughters. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Monday, November 19, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at the Quail Inn, Oakmont Country Club, 7035 Oakmont Dr., Santa Rosa, CA. FUJII, TOKO Passed away in Sacramento on November 8, 2001. Age 81. Mr. Fujii is survived by his loving wife, Sayoko; two beloved sons, Scott Fujii and Roger Fujii and his wife Valerie Quinn. One cherished daughter, Terry Kornelly and husband, Tom. Devoted grandfather to Brian, Rachel, Quinn and Ami, great grandfather to Taylor. One sister, Chizue Ito and husband, Yasushi. Uncle to Jerry, Vivian, and Joyce. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 PM, at Andrews & Greilich Mortuary, 3939 Fruitridge Rd., Sacramento. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 PM at the Buddhist Church of Sacramento - Betsuin, 2401 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento.
