ZOOK, LOREN Passed through death into everlasting life, Nov. 11, 2001, at almost 82 yrs of age. Born Nov. 29, 1919, Sunnyside, WA. Employed for 26 years with CalTrans, retired 1985. Beloved husband of Margaret for 51 yrs, loving father of Harriet Zook, David & wife Lisa Zook. Beloved member of River City Grace Community Church, where he served from its beginning. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church towards a special memorial missions fund. Memorial service will be held at the church (4261 Whitney Ave.) on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at 1pm. 972-1106.

ANTONOWICH, STEVE In Sacramento, November 11, 2001. Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Carol. Loving father of Cheryl Rogers and husband Richard of Sacramento. Devoted grandfather to Carrie Hunt and husband Chris of Sacramento. Brother of Pearl Sharpe of Kinnelon, NJ. A resident of Sacramento 18 years, Steve was founder of S-A Climate Control Heat and A.C. Company. A U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, he was a life member of American Legion Post 0608, Moose Lodge #2022 the Tucker Club, the Railroad Museum, the N.R.A. and a former member of the American River Lions Club. A native of New Jersey, aged 80 years. BIELAWSKI, Walter William In Sacramento, November 12, 2001. Beloved father of Chip and Tom Bielawski. Father-in-law of Barbara and Kit Bielawski. Dear brother of Stanley Bielawski and his wife Irene. BOND, CORA Born in Halfway, Wyoming, on October 7, 1913, Cora was called home by our Lord on November 12, 2001, in Sacramento, CA. She was the beloved wife of the late Willard A. Bond, loving mother of Austin S. Bond and Willa Neely, grandmother of Stacy Bond and Jael Neely, sister of Ned and George Davison, Lena Olson and Frances Baker. She is also survived by her niece Georgia Wenz and nephews Ron Davison and Pete Olson. She was a native of Wyoming and a 45 year resident of Sacramento, aged 88 years. Friends are welcome to attend a funeral service on Friday, November 16th, at 10:00am, at W.F. Gormley & Sons Chapel, 2015 Capitol Avenue. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.

BROWN D.D.S., WARREN HARDY Born August 31, 1920 in San Francisco, CA. Passed away gently at his home in Sacramento, CA on November 7, 2001, surrounded by his loving family. Survived by his beloved wife Wilma of 55 years, daughter Pamela Telles, son Stephen Brown, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, grandchildren James (Erica) Telles, Lynne (Jeff) Gibboney, Matthew (Laurie) Telles, Corinne and Andrea Brown, great grandchildren Brooke and Conrad Gibboney, Autumn Telles and loving brother-in-law of Beth Manning and Tom Kircher. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1937 and attended San Francisco State before serving in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Searaven in the Pacific during W.W.II. Following his return to civilian life, he attended U.C. Berkeley for pre-dental and graduated in 1960 from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, in San Francisco. He had a private dental practice in Castro Valley, CA before moving to Sacramento where he worked as a dentist for the California Youth Authority, Northern Reception Center Clinic until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed soccer as a participant, coach and spectator. His favorite leisure activities were fishing, camping and hiking in the Sierras at Mono Hot Springs, wood carving, cooking and spending quality time with his loving family and friends. Former member of Alameda and Sacramento County Dental Societies and of the National and local chapters of the U.S. Submarine Veteran's of World War II. Member of St. Georges Episcopal Church, Carmichael. The family wishes to thank the staff of Kaiser Hospice Program for the care and support which provided comfort, love and dignity to Warren and his family in his final days. BURT, FRANCES RIEMER In this city, following a short illness, died Nov. 12, 2001. Born Frances Augusta Riemer, March 23, 1917. Aged 84 years. Preceded in death by her husband, A. Oren Burt. Mother of Meredith (Nancy) and Michael (Pam) Burt and Orene (Phil) Dunzweiler. Grandmother of Shelley Lacy, Steven Burt, Julie Jones, Sandi Burt, Phillip Burt, Glen and Krista Dunzweiler, Christopher Burt, and Erin Paige. Also Great Grandmother of Tyler, Taelor and Alexa Burt. Frances was an active volunteer in PTA, Arthritis Foundation Auxiliary, Sacramento Arts Council, Old Sacramento Schoolhouse Museum, Tuesday Club, Camellia Festival, United Methodist Women, Daughters of the Nile, and the National League of American Penwomen, the Ballet Guild, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She also performed as Mother Goose in schools, hospital and at craft fairs and children's festivals for many years. She has illustrated children's books and is a published writer. She also taught children and adult art classes at the YMCA, at South Hills Racquet Club and in her home. She is listed in "Who's Who of American Women". Her influence in the arts community of Sacramento will be remembered. Visitation for friends and family will be in THE LAND PARK CHAPEL OF HARRY A. NAUMAN AND SON, 4041 Freeport Blvd. Thurs., Nov. 15, from 2PM-6PM. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 21st and J Sts. on Fri., Nov. 16, at 4PM. CLEMENCE, JAMES ELDEAN Born July 2, 1914, in Delmont,  Pennsylvania. Passed away at home November 2001, at age 87. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Elizabeth (Busy) Clemence. His loving sons, James Barry and Robert Wayne, survive Jim. Five grandchildren, Christopher, John, Shannon, Sara, and Todd; three great grandchildren, Jennifer, Patrick, and Brenden; one great great grandchild; his loving niece Linda Clemence Reib and her husband Larry; his companion and dear friend, Lenora Meddles; his sister-in-law Jeannette Hoffman and her husband Darwin. Jim was in the grocery business all his life and a member of Retail Clerks Local 588 Union. He enjoyed many activities and weekends on his houseboat where he entertained family and friends. Jim was an avid golfer and a member of Mission Oaks Senior Center, where he enjoyed playing pinochle. He was a member of the Nifty Fifties Senior Group, attending breakfasts, parties, and other activities and will be missed there by many of his friends. A gathering of family and friends celebrating Jim's life will be held Saturday, November 17, from 12-4, at 2313 Santa Anita Drive, Sacramento. CONCKLIN, GERALD WILLIAMS In Carmichael on November 8, 2001. Much beloved husband of Nancy for 20 years. Jerry is survived by his loving family son Scott, his wife Julie, and their children Travis and Danny from Redding; son Barry from San Jose; brother Wil and his wife Beth from San Jose; brother Steve from Mt. Shasta; and sister Millie and her husband Gary from Sumner,  Washington. He is also survived by three nephews, one niece, their families and many long-time friends. Born in San Jose November 24, 1930, he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948. After four years in the Air Force, he returned to San Jose and graduated from San Jose State. After working for one year at Tidewater Oil Co., he relocated to Sacramento where he worked 10 years for the Department of Finance and 20 years for the Legislative Analyst's Office. He dearly loved his jazz and working on family genealogy. There will be a private service for the family, but all friends are invited to the Concklin home November 25 from 2:00 to 5:00 to celebrate Jerry's life. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

DAME, EDNA A. Age 88, of Narragansett, RI, died Monday South Bay Manor South Kingstown, RI. She was the wife of the late Rev. Harold L. Dame. Born in Shelton, Conn., she was a daughter of the late Chester Arthur and Jennie Augusta (Combs) Heath. Mrs. Dame had lived in Westport, MA and Canterbury, CT before moving to Narragansett, RI in 1950. She was a member, Sunday school director, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, women's bible study leader and active in the church choir of the Calvary Bible Church Narragansett. She was a 1936 graduate of the Providence Bible Institute. She leaves a son Charles E. Dame of Canterbury, CT, two daughters Ruth E. Carrico of Fair Oaks, CA and Shirley A. Jackman of Emporia, KS, a sister Florence Howard of East Bridgewater, MA, a brother Everett Heath of Ashland, NH; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was mother of the late Larry Dame, sister of the late Walter, Clinton and Donald Heath. Funeral service will be held Friday at 10AM in the Calvary Bible Church, 32 Avice St., Narragansett. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery North Kingstown, RI.

HEIDTMAN, WALTER KARL In Folsom, CA, November 12, 2001. Beloved husband of Carolina C. Heidtman (Hoffart) of 48 yrs. Loving father of Alan A. Heidtman of Sacramento and Cathryn A. Heidtman-Koefod (Kirk) of Moscow, Idaho. Devoted brother of Velma Holmes and the late Dorothy Lee. Loving grandfather of Mica Koefod and Ryan and Natalie Heidtman and the late Scott Koefod. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A native of Gardnerville, NV, age 82 years. HELGESON, Orville Edward In Sacramento, November 8 in his home, passed peacefully into the Kingdom of Heaven. Born October 22, 1918 in Powers Lake, North Dakota, Orv was the third youngest of seven children born to a Norwegian Homestead farmer, then banker. He followed in his father's footsteps and became a banker also. He served in the U. S. Army in Italy in WW II. He married Zelda on December 21, 1941. After his military service he joined his wife in California in 1943. He worked for the Bank of America from 1946 to 1980, as Vice President and Branch Manager. Upon retirement, he continued to enjoy lasting relationships with family and friends. He also enjoyed golf, snowmobiling, baseball, and life in Sacramento. He was preceded in death by his wife after 58 years of marriage. Orville is survived by one son, Douglas. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. at Lombard & Company Funeral Directors, 1550 Fulton Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95825 (916) 483-3297, one block South of Arden Way. HILDEBRAND Sr, Theodore C. Born July 21, 1918 in Tacoma,  Washington. Passed away November 11, 2001 in Orangevale, California. Retired after working over 30 years at McClellan Air Force Base. Was preceded in death by his son: Teddy Hildebrand. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years: Edith, his loving daughter: Diana Evans, granddaughter: Page Self, grandsons: Britt Evans, and Jerry Evans Jr., and 8 great grandchildren. MASON, ARNOLD E. Aged 77 years. After a two-year illness passed away in Carmichael, CA on November 10, 2001. Born Jan. 12, 1924, he was the son of William (dec'd) and Tressie (Creviston) Mason (dec'd) of Markle, Indiana. Mr. Mason is survived by his wife Lois; his sons, Lynn Mason and wife Susan of Sacramento, CA and Larry Mason and wife Denise of Nevada City, CA; grandchildren, Holly Marsh and husband Tyler, Amy, Brooke and Drew Mason; brothers, Kyle and Paul Mason of Indiana and Oliver Mason of Kentucky. Mr. Mason was a Veteran of WWII. MCGRAW, CLARA ALLIE Gone home to be with the Lord November 12, 2001. Age 91 years. Born October 6, 1910 in Grove Springs, New York. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years Herschel. Loving mother of Kenneth McGraw, Janet Braninburg, Marlene McGraw, and Arlene Walters. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, November 16 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Funeral Services on Saturday, November 17 at 12:00 noon at SUNSET LAWN CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES 4701 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento (922-5833). MUNKNER, FREDERICK WILHELM Born January 11, 1914, in S.F., California. Passed away at his home in Folsom on November 10, 2001, at age 87. Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Emile, in 1987. He leaves to mourn his passing, his cherished and devoted Vivian, his daughter Diane Burgess, his son Fred, Jr. (Mickey) and his wife, Barbara, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. His sister, Anne Bisazza, her husband, Guido, and their children. Vivian's children, Phillip Houston, Tamara Pierson and Robert Houston and his wife, Pat, Vivian's grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Fred owned and operated several grocery stores in S.F. most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II as a heavy artillery operator and photographer. Fred was a natural at photography and many of his photos were published in international publications. He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. After the war he returned to S.F. and his grocery market, The Monterey Food Palace. He spent the next twenty years running his store and enjoying an active family life. After his retirement he lived life to the fullest, doing a lot of traveling all over the world. He loved dogs and they loved him. He always carried a pocketful of doggie treats for all the neighborhood dogs. One kind neighbor even built a special bench for Fred to rest while he was walking the dogs. He loved and enjoyed his family very much, and counted himself wealthy to have such wonderful neighbors in San Carlos and then in Folsom. A memorial service will be held at Green Valley Mortuary, 610 Coloma St., Folsom, CA on Saturday, November 17, 2001 at Noon, with a reception following, at his home, for family and friends who wish to attend. NEVES, OLIVIA (OLIVE) Born December 12, 1912, died in Sacramento, November 12, 2001. Beloved wife of the late Walter Neves, Sr. Dear mother of Walter Jr., Marlene Pinola, Oliver Neves, Robert Neves and JoAnn Santos. Grandmother to Kenneth Neves, John Neves, Gary Pinola, Joe Neves, Gayle Turpin, Rick Neves, Lynne Mitchell, Joan Neves, Steven Neves, Lori Gauagher, Brian Santos, Ronald Neves and Annette Santos. Great-grandmother of 28. She is also survived by many sisters and brothers-in-law, nephews and nieces. SANDBECK, OPAL Services for Opal Sandbeck will be Friday, Nov. 16, 2001 at 11am, at Christ The King Lutheran Church, 5811 Walnut Ave. Orangevale. Burial will be at 3pm. South East Lawn. Opal was 89. She was a Registered Nurse for 40 yrs. Preceded in death by her husband of 50 yrs, Rev. Carl J. Sandbeck. She is survived by a son, Mark Sandbeck, of Grass Valley; a daughter, Barbara Griffin, of Gold River; and a grandson, Jonathan Sandbeck, of Grass Valley. Visitation will be from 12-8pm Thursday, Nov. 15th, South East Lawn, 9819 E. Stockton Blvd. Elk Grove.

SLATER, SIGRID SINA Age 53 in Walnut Creek, November 9, 2001. A native of Sacramento, Sigrid was born December 5, 1947. She was a graduate of San Francisco State. Sig is survived by her husband, Ken of Walnut Creek; daughter, Katie of Fresno; son Zachary of Santa Cruz; mother, Hazel Lindelof of Folsom; sisters, Sonja Truscott of Rancho Cordova, Barbara Hall of Sacramento and Joann Wilson of Folsom; brothers, Bill Lindelof of Sacramento and Wayne Lindelof of Antioch. Preceded in death by her father, Stanley Lindelof; sister, Beverly Cutshall; and brother, James Lindelof. SWETZ, JOHN BERNARD "THE BEAR" In Sacramento October 5, 2001. Born in Hapwood, PA, July 20, 1915 age 86. Loving husband of Leanor E. Swetz of 59 years. Loving father of Suzanne Solberg and Bernard Swetz. Preceded in death by a grandson Bradley J. Swetz. Loving great grandfather of Joseph, Bradley and Nathan Swetz and their mother Sherry and step-grandfather of Bill Coffman and the late Mike Coffman. Loved brother of Paul Swetz of Baltimore, MD, Anna DeBord of Palo Alto, CA and Martha Hamashin of Fairfield, CA. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Swetz was responsible for developing two different type of combines for rice harvesting after which he went to work for John Deere in the 1940's, then had his own two harvesters and was self employed, owning a welding and machine shop business. After that he went to work for Aerojet from 1959 to 1969, then for the Southern Pacific Railroad 1970-1983. He was a former member of the Holy Name Society at All Hallows Church. THOMPSON, HELGA Born on January 13, 1940 in Idar-Oberstein, Germany. Helga passed away on November 12, 2001 in Sacramento, California. Loving wife of William P. Thompson for 37 years, caring mother of Sabine Greer and Sonja Duckett, special Oma of Ross, Alexandra, Andrew and Erik Greer. Daughter of Ewald and Paula Borchert, sister of Gunter Borchert, sister-in-law of Regine Borchert and caring mother-in-law to Doug Greer and Willie Duckett. She loved and lived for her family. She will be deeply missed and remembered everyday. MARIE M. Passed away in Sacramento November 11, 2001 at age 93. She will be sadly missed by her loving daughter, Sondra Goforth. Dearly beloved grandmother of Scott Harp, Deborah Hanlon, David Shaw, Lisa Bianchi, and Billy Goforth. Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, Oliver. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother of 5, great-grandmother of 12, and great-great grandmother of 2. No services are scheduled. COLBERT, FRANKLIN SCHOLL 85 year old Sacramento resident since 1920, died suddenly on November 13, 2001 after a heart attack. He proudly served in the Pacific in WWII. Also retired from the Post Office in 1975, after working there 39 years. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Betty Colbert Sharpe of Sacramento and Carol J. Alsman of Palm Springs. Also 2 grandchildren Holly J. Quintana of Sacramento and Tod Alsman of San Francisco; 3 great-grandchildren, Anna Quintana and Michael and Jesse Shaw. Loved by friends, family and neighbors. He was a kind, good person and the Best Dad a girl could ever have. No Services.
DRAKE, SARA VIRGINIA (LENHART) Passed on 11/13/2001 after a courageous bout with lung cancer, age 69. Sara was at home in the loving care of her husband of 53 years, Myron Drake. A native of Beatrice, Nebraska, she moved to Sacramento in 1965. A devoted wife, mother and grandma, she will be remembered for her thoughtful, loving ways, her hard work, her exceptional cooking, and her sense of humor. She took great pride in her home and family, and was an avid reader. Beloved mother of Nancy Thompson and Beth Bennett. Cherished grandma of Carrie Brooks, Derek Bennett, and great-grandma of Rudy Brooks, all of Sacramento.
