PUFFER, PEGGY Peggy Wilson Puffer, a native of Los Angeles, arrived October 13, 1923 and departed at her home in Folsom November 19, 2001. She leaves behind, her husband Herb Puffer, a native of Folsom, son Courtney, daughter Kathe, and sister Betty Lou Bachiero. Peggy and Herb with Courtney, opened Pacific Western Traders American Indian Gallery in Folsom, which is celebrating its 30th year of operation. Peggy and Herb actively support the heritage of Native California culture and have been the catalysts for many events and exhibitions. Services were private. Contributions in Peggy's honor may be made to the Maidu Interpretive Center, 1960  Johnson Ranch Drive, Roseville, CA 95661.

RAYMOND, MAXINE ADELE Passed away Thursday, November 15, 2001 at the age of 92. She and her twin brother Carroll were born on November 4, 1909 in Napa, CA to William and Dessie Riecken. The family moved to Sacramento when she was very young. She remained in Sacramento all her life until her husband Lloyd Raymond's death in 1992. She then moved to her daughter's house in Alta, CA where she was a welcome addition to a large family. Before her retirement in 1973, she worked for SMUD for 30 years. In her later years, she enjoyed gardening and her dogs. She will be sadly missed by her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Pat Finley; her grandchildren and their spouses, Craig and Cindie Stetlen, Julie and Ryce Hopkins, Katy and Tim Johnson, all of Alta, and Danny Finley of Citrus Heights; also her great-grandchildren, Scott, Sarah, Jason, Amy, and T.J. of Alta. She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Raymond and brothers Carroll and Leslie Riecken. Private graveside services were held at East Lawn Park on Folsom Blvd. on November 19, 2001. Remembrances may be made to the charity of ones choice.

RICHARDSON, EARLINE L. Went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 23, 2001 in Sacramento, CA. Age 81 years, a native of  Texas. Survived by her children, Ernest Richardson, Jr., Warah J. Hunter, Laura L. Watson and Joyce Samuels. The family invites you to her viewing on Thursday from 1 - 6 PM and her funeral service on Friday at 11 AM both in THOMPSON'S ROSE CHAPEL 3601 5th Avenue. RYALL, MARJORIE MIRIAM Marjorie Miriam Ryall (nee Deal) passed away in her sleep about 5:45 AM on Tuesday, November 13, 2001, in Davis, CA. The first child of Hiram Linus Deal and May Alice Beauford Deal, she was born on their farm in Christian County, IL, on July 7, 1909. That farm is still owned by the family. After growing up on the farm with her three younger siblings, she graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. She worked for many years in government offices, first in Baltimore and  Washington, then in San Bernardino, CA. In the 1960s she returned to college to earn her Master of Library Science Degree from the University of Southern California. She was the head librarian at McClellan Air Force Base near Sacramento, CA, for several years before retiring in 1974. She is survived by her son Leonard Ryall and grandson Dylan Ryall of Davis, CA, and by her daughter-in-law Gail Ryall and granddaughter Sabrina Ryall of Sacramento, CA. A memorial service will be held for her on Sunday, December 2, 2001, at 2 PM, at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Sacramento, 2425 Sierra Blvd., Sacramento. Instead of flowers, she would prefer memorial gifts to the Nature Conservancy or the Sacramento Audubon Society.

HELEN MURIEL Born January 5, 1914 in San Jose, CA. She died November 25, 2001 at her home. She had suffered from Alzheimers. Helen was married 49 years to L.V. (Sandy) Sanderson, who preceded her in death in 1985. She was a member of Berry Creek Community Church, Berry Creek Grange, and in Fresno and Sacramento, Bible Study Fellowship and Christian Women's Club. She is survived by her son, Stuart of Berry Creek; her daughter, Janet Cole of Sacramento; grandsons, Heath & Sean Cole; son-in-law Percy Cole; and one brother, Milton Burtner of Terrabella, CA. SHELTON, FRANK A. Born March 3,1924 in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away on November 20, 2001. He is survived by his wife Naoma Shelton, his sister Dorothy Myers, his brothers Phillip Dalton and Lawrence Dalton, his children Russell Shelton and Sandra Shelton. Frank was a member of the Carmichael Elks Lodge #2103. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, December 1, 2001 at 10 am at Mount Vernon Memorial Park - 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks. SHORT, MARY VIRGINA Friend and champion of persons with developmental disabilities, born in Princeton Missouri August 20, 1928 passed on at UC Medical Center November 22, 2001. Preceded in death by mother Hildred Hill-Elliott, her cherished pets Helen, Norman & Madam Chang. Survived by husband retired state Senator Alan Short, Sacramento and brother Sherman Hill of Kansas City, Missouri. Though she had no children of her own, her "babies" were Bonnie Ritchie of Sonora and Laura Hayward of Sacramento. Her "family" of friends who loved her and will deeply miss her are Michael Ritchie, Santa Rosa, Sarah Ritchie, Sonora, Perry & Eli McCauley, Flagstone Arizona, Lorraine Short, Stockton, Amy Nishimura and Margaret Clemens, Sacramento. She was a special lady to all who knew or met her. Mary enjoyed photographing the "winners" at Special Olympics, founded the "Very Special Art Show", a statewide art exhibit of work by persons with developmental disabilities, and founded the Short Centers in Sacramento and Stockton, which offer persons with developmental disabilities the opportunity to experience creativity through the arts. Mary had many different aspects to her personality. She was gentle, kind, had a sharp wit, boundless energy, and a "photographer's eye" through which she saw beauty where others could not. Special thanks to Dr. Reginald Low for his support during Mary's illness. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, November 29, 2001 at 10:00AM in the Yuki Gardens at 2331 St. Marks Way, Sacramento. Loving mother of Catherine Sills of Portland, Oregon; Sara and husband, Jim Kersting of Springwater, New York, Rosemarie and husband, H. Pike Oliver of Sacramento, and Edward M. and wife, Wynette of Pleasant Grove. Loving grandmother of five, Blake Oliver, Paul Oliver, Katelyn Sills, Jessica Sills and Andrew Sills. Loving sister of two brothers who preceded her in death, Frank E. Ricks and Paul A. Ricksecker. Survived by one brother, Albert C. Ricksecker of Citrus Heights. Born in San Rafael, May 1, 1915. Earned a B.A. in Mathematics at Dominican College in 1936 and obtained a secondary teaching credential in 1937. First teaching job was at Williams High School in Colusa County where she was affectionately known as "Teach". Taught mathematics and science in California high schools for five years. Began a new career in 1943 as a war-time worker at Marinship in Sausalito and then as an engraver in 1944 at a San Francisco firm. Married Thomas Sills in 1945 upon his return from WWII service in Europe and devoted herself to her husband and family. Faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in North Sacramento for fifty years. SMITH, DARLENE B. Passed away on November 24, 2001 in Santa Rosa. Dearly beloved mother of Mark Smith of Los Angeles, Keri Luttrull and her husband Wayne of Reno, Denyse MacMillan and her husband James of Santa Rosa, Dana Smith of Fair Oaks and John Smith of Oakland; loving grandmother of Scott, Chris, Jessica, Travis, Kayla and Brenna. SOOHOO, MITZIE Peacefully passed away on November 25, 2001 at the age of 78. Preceded in death by her husband Stanley, son Gary, daughter Betty, and brother-in-law Frank. She is survived by her loving Children Patricia, Jeanette (Bobby), Nancy (Manuel), Karen (Jesse), Debbie (Robert), Peggy (Ken), Vickie, Lori (Michael), Stan Jr. (Cathy), and Richard (Donna). Adoring grandmother of 25, and great-grandmother of 47. Cherished sister of Belle and beloved friend of Spud. Mitzie was a generous soul who welcomed all into her home as if they were family. STARN, RICHARD B. Of Carmichael, CA, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001. Dick served our country as a first sargeant in WWII, and worked for many years as a County Sealer for the Weights and Measures dept. He is survived by many loving and admiring nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday Dec. 1st at 4 p.m. at St. George's Episcopal Church in Carmichael. Everyone who knew Dick thought of him as a true gentleman. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite charity in his name.

STONE, JOLENE A. Passed away in Sacramento on November 21, 2001. She is survived by her mother Faye Miller; brothers Anthony Roden and Hunter Miller; sister Doreen Crouse; and aunt Kathryn Saulnier of Arkansas. She was a native of Long Beach, California, born December 1, 1943 and had resided in the Sacramento area since 1989. She retired from Pacific Bell after 23 years of employment. She was a licensed pilot and loved to travel and enjoyed ceramics. She was 57 years of age. Friends are welcome to attend a memorial service on Friday, November 30, 2001 at 10:00 AM at Liberty Towers Church of the Nazarene, 5132 Elkhorn Blvd., Sacramento. SUTTON, ROBERT H. Born August 28, 1922 on "Oak St." in Galt, CA, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2001 in Sacramento. Preceded in death by his devoted wife Agnes, loving brother Leo Jensen and sister Dubey Gilligan. He is survived by his son Shayne, daughter Cathe and her husband Aaron, his grandsons Shayne 11, Justin, Shane Michael, Nick and AJ. Also survived by his loving sisters Dorothy Capps, Josie Dubach and Louise Denver, his brother Ben Stevens and Dear friend Shirley Zorn. Mr. Sutton was a WWII Veteran and retired from McClellan Air Force Base. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and bowler. THORGRIMSON, PAUL H. Born on May 11, 1917 in Vancouver, B.C. Passed away on November 24, 2001. Married for 48 years to Betty Thorgrimson. A resident of Wilton for 33 years. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Asgrimur and Johanna Thorgrimson of Iceland, and his sisters and brothers Mary, Johanna, Harold and Stephen. Loving father of Susan Hooper and her husband Tim of Elk Grove, Janet Thorgrimson of Citrus Heights, and Joyce Thorgrimson and her husband Greg Stewart of Wilton. Devoted grandfather of Thomas and Meghan Hooper and Lauren and Evan Stewart. Also survived by brother-in-law Elwyn Judd of Sacramento, sisters-in-law Donna Ewing of  Washington and Jane McCarty of Seal Beach, and numerous nieces and nephews. Moved to Los Angeles, California in 1923. Became a naturalized citizen on August 23, 1940. Was a graduate of Los Angeles City College. Army Corporal with the 18th Engineer Combat Battalion in W.W.II, and was involved with the building of the Alaskan Highway. Retired after 35 years from the Department of Motor Vehicles. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Wednesday, November 28 at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, 3901 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento. TISDALE, ALLEN HAROLD Entered into rest Saturday, November 24, 2001 at the age of 89. An only child, he is a native of Bridgeport, Connecticut born Tuesday, March 19, 1912 and a resident of Rio Linda since 1953. He is preceded in death in 1998 by his beloved wife Georgina whom he met in Honolulu in 1934 and after a 2 year courtship they were married in 1936. They remained in Honolulu, surviving the attack of Pearl Harbor in 1947; they left Hawaii for the mainland abroad the USS Matsonia. They settled in the bay area until moving to the Sacramento area and in 1953 they decided to settled in Rio Linda and raise their family. He is the loving father of Raymond and Gilbert Tisdale, Barbara Knipe and Priscilla Smith. Precious grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, also 1 great-great grandchild. He is also preceded in death by three children, Allen Jr., George and Ruth Marie. He was a dedicated Army veteran from 1933 through 1940. He was employed for Campbell Soup before joining the Rio Linda School District for 18 years. He will be missed by his fellow members of Eagles Lodge #9 and Woodman of the World Lodge #922. TRUDEL, KATHLEEN (LANE) Aged 35, passed away November 22, 2001 in Brandon, FL after a brief illness. Born in Barnstable, MA, she moved to this area in 2000. She was a Catholic and a Child Care Provider for McDill A.F.B. Child Development Center and Fish Hawk Early Learning Center. She is survived by her husband, David, a Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force; and daughters Heather and Stephanie. Visitation will be November 27, 2001 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with services on November 28, 2001 at 2:00 PM, both at Hillsboro Memorial F.H. in Brandon, FL.

WESTCOT, GEORGE DUANE George D. Westcot passed away quietly, after a long illness, in Citrus Heights Thursday, November 22, 2001. He was 74 years old. Born in Winterset Iowa, son of George and Ella on October 8th, 1927 he was an engineering graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York and served as an officer in the US Navy. He joined Aerojet in 1955 as a test engineer in Azusa, Ca. He held a number of executive positions within Aerojet, including President of Graver Energy Systems of East Chicago, and concluded his 34 year career as President of Aerojet Solid Propulsion Company and Gencorp Group Vice President in 1990. A resident of Roseville, he was involved in numerous community organizations, including the Sacramento Safety Council, The United Way, The Navy League and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jackie Lord Westcot, three sons, George, Michael, Duane and wife Cathy, two daughters, Patricia and Virginia and husband John Wells, and three grandchildren, John Westcot Wells, Sara Frances Westcot and Jack Robert Westcot. Memorial service will be held 10 AM, Thursday, November 29th at St. Rose Catholic Church, 615 Vine Avenue Roseville, Ca. In lieu of flowers the family requests any contributions be made to the American Cancer Society (800-227-2345).

WIENHOLZ, NICK Born August 17, 1920 in San Francisco, California. Passed away November 26, 2001 in Carmichael, California. Preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Helen. He is survived by his children, Fred, Nicky, and JoAnne, 7 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren. Friends are invited to visitation Wednesday, November 28, 4:00-8:00 PM. WIMER, CHYRL EVONNE Beloved wife of Rex L Wimer for 43 years, passed away after a lengthy illness on November 25, 2001. Mrs. Wimer was born on June 10, 1920 in Deloit Iowa to Wayne and Doris Cose. She attended schools there and graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. She is survived by her brother Wayne E. Cose and his wife Ila, sister Dorothy Bayless, stepdaughter Valarie Wimer Meldahl and her husband Jeff, grandchildren Rene Nicole, and Brett Haworth, great grandchildren Jessee Haworth, Alexa Miller. Also survived by brother in law Abe Ellis, nephews Steven Ellis and children, Gary Bayless and his wife Lynda and their children Jacob, Eli, Micah and Tristran, and James Bayless nieces Chyrl Sue Sandusky, Doreen and her husband Bob, Ronnie and Tina Barton and their children, Karen Abercrombie and her children Chris and Andrea, Mike Corbett and son, Candy and John Winter and their children, Diana and her husband Rob Swonger and their children Tim and Brian Doss. Preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Ellis. Mrs. Wimer was a member of the Mother Lode Colony of Mayflower Descendants, the Sacramento WAVES as she served in the US Navy during WWII, the Bay Area Huguenot Society of California, a 50 year member of the order of the Eastern Star, a member of Natoma Chapter #233 and Presidio Chapter #183 Order of the Eastern Star, Folsom Priscilla Alden Chapter Colonial Dames XVII Century, Researched and found 5 coat of Arms descendants. Retired from Chevron Oil after 27 years and was a member of the Sacramento Chapter of Chevron Prior Employees. Friends are welcome visitation on Thursday, November 29, from 4-8 PM, and Friday November 30 from 10 AM-8 PM, and a funeral service on Saturday, December 1, 2001 at 2 PM all at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane in Sacramento. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospital.

WOLFE, VIRGIL L. Born in Iowa. Passed away in Sacramento at the age of 82. Survived by sons Dick (Charlotte) Wolfe of Laguna Beach, CA, David (Jill) Wolfe of Carmichael, and 4 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Florence Faith Wolfe and 7 of his 10 siblings of whom he was the eldest. Virge loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, his dogs & the slot machines.
