Jaevon Christopher Huff

Funeral services for Jaevon Christopher Huff, 2, of Vacaville, will be 10 a.m. Monday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Chaplain Rex Carpenter of Travis Air Force Base will officiate.

Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

The child died June 1, 1997, in VacaValley Hospital.

Born October 28, 1994, in California, the child had lived in Vacaville one year.

He is survived by his parents, Christopher and Darlene of Vacaville; twin brother, Deshawn of Vacaville; grandmothers, Christine Peay of North Carolina and Edna Mae Fontenette of  Louisiana; two uncles; and one aunt.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. Monday and continue until the service.

Arrangements were handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Frances Louise Myers

Funeral services for Frances Louise Myers, 63, of Fairfield will be 7 p.m. Monday at Vaca Hills Chapel. The Rev. Henry Mayberry of Berean Baptist Church in Fairfield will preside. Burial will be private in Morro Bay.

Born Sept. 12, 1933, in Coalinga, Mrs. Myers died June 6, 1997, at her daughter's Vacaville home after a long illness.

She was a psychiatric technician for 25 years for the state. She was a member of the Ukiah and Fairfield Moose lodges. Also, she enjoyed crocheting and reading.

Mrs. Myers is survived by her son, Harold Eugene Nash of Kingman, Ariz.; daughters, Darline Binion of Vacaville and Laurie of Los Osos; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Vaca Hills Chapel.

Betty Marie Schafer

Graveside services for Betty Marie Schafer, 76, of Fairfield will be 3 p.m. Monday at Rockville Cemetery.

Born June 14, 1920, in Superior, Wis., Mrs. Schafer died June 3, 1997, in Fairfield. She moved to the area in 1949.

Mrs. Schafer taught kindergarten for 20 years in Vallejo public schools, retiring in 1981, and was a member of the California Retired Teacher's Association.

She is survived by her children, Becky Heins of Fairfield, Barbara Hayman of Silverdale, Wash., and Bryan and Bruce, both of Vacaville; and grandchildren, Gregory, Breanna, and Neil.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, in 1975; and her granddaughter, Lisa, in 1994.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Frank Miller Scruggs

Services for Frank Miller Scruggs of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fairfield Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Lewis of Temple Baptist Church will preside. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mr. Scruggs died June 5, 1997, at David Grant Medical Center after an illness. He was born in Coffeeville, Ala.

He was an X-ray technician for the Air Force for 23 years and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. A master sergeant, he was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association.

Mr. Scruggs is survived by his wife, Ethel of Fairfield; daughters, Angela, Sandra Hayes and Vivian Chism, all of Fairfield, and Marcia Ferrante of Germany; sons, Frank and Darryl, both of Sacramento; brothers, Joel of Indiana, Coleman of Georgia and Charles of Alabama; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fairfield Funeral Home.

George Franklin Fernandez

Services for George Franklin Fernandez, 48, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at McCune Garden Chapel. The Rev. Leo Nelson will preside. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Oct. 25, 1948, in Fairfield, Mr. Fernandez died June 4, 1997, at VacaValley Hospital.

Mr. Fernandez was an attendant for Beelard and Burton's Gas Station in Vacaville. He also was a groundskeeper at Travis Air Force Base. He coached Pop Warner football, and loved gardening and working on cars.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Mary Fernandez of Benicia; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Bill Hopkins of Kake, Alaska; niece, Amber Hopkins of Alaska; nephews, Kyle Hopkins of Alaska, and Matthew and Andrew Fernandez, both of Benicia; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alice and George.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at McCune Garden Chapel.

William Ray Beene

Services for William Ray Beene, 75, of Vacaville, will be 11 a.m. Monday in Cypress Lawn Cemetery in Colma.

The Rev. John Ryan will officiate.

Burial will be in Cypress Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Beene died May 31, 1997, in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born on Dec. 8, 1921, in Fort Sumner, N.M., he lived in Vacaville for eight years.

He worked as a warehouseman for Holt, Winston, Rinehart Publishing for 12 years.

He loved sports, including tennis, baseball and walking.

Mr. Beene is survived by his daughter, Barbara Watkins of Vacaville; son, Donald of Redwood City; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

William E. Zimmerschied

Graveside services for William E. Zimmerschied, 84, of Sedalia, Mo., will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the IOOF Cemetery in Otterville, Mo.

The Rev. Bert Eickhoff of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sedalia will officiate.

Mr. Zimmerschied died June 6, 1997.

He was born Feb. 27, 1913, and was a lifelong resident of the Smithton, Otterville and Sedalia areas.

Mr. Zimmerschied was survived by his sister, Leota Geotz of Vacaville; brothers, Junior of Sedalia and Harold of Arvada,  Colo.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Sedalia.

Arrangements are handled by Ewing Funeral Home in Sedalia, Mo.

George Franklin Fernandez

Services for George Franklin Fernandez, 48, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at McCune Garden Chapel. The Rev. Leo Nelson will preside. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Lula Mae Huerls

Memorial services for Lula Mae Huerls, 60, of Suisun will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Kenneth Montgomery will officiate. Burial will be in Rockville Cemetery.

Born Dec. 12, 1936, in Beaumont,  Texas, Mrs. Huerls died Thursday at her Suisun home after a short illness.

She worked as a packer for the Herman Goelitz Candy Company for 32 years. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Oakland for 19 years.

Mrs. Huerls is survived by her daughters Veoletta of Palmdale and Regina of Suisun; sons Eugene of Suisun and Dave of Belmont.

She is also survived by sisters Willi Mae Joubert and Alice Joubert of Beaumont, Catherine Harrison of Port Arthur,  Texas, Rose Lee Baptiste of Houston, Helen Moore of Pacoima and Mamie Fisher of Las Vegas; brothers Junior  Jones of Santa Ana, Morris  Jones Jr. of Pacoima and J.C.  Jones of Barstow; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

John 'Jack' William Jones

Private funeral services were held for John "Jack" William Jones, 66, of Bangor.

Born July 26, 1930, in Clinton, Iowa, Mr.  Jones died May 30, 1997, at Oroville Hospital after a short illness.

He left Clinton after joining the U.S. Army in 1948. He served for 20 years, doing two tours of duty in Korea and two in Germany. He retired with the rank of 1st Sergeant. After his retirement, he moved from Concord to Bangor.

He belonged to the local Welcome Wagon group, the Bounders RV Club and the VFW. He also belonged to the Neptune Society of Northern California.

He enjoyed camping and barbecuing. But his greatest joy came from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately named him "Gumpy."

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn (Espenes) Jones.

He is survived by his daughter, Christine A. Lynch (James) of Vacaville; sons, John W. Jr. of Seattle and Philip E. of Mercer Island, Wash.; sisters, Carrie Fannfeldt (Ray) of Iowa and Arleen James of Ireland; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Graybeal

There will be a private burial in Skyview Memorial Lawn in Vallejo for Evelyn Graybeal, 87, of Green Valley.

Upon her request, there will be no formal funeral services.

Mrs. Graybeal died June 10, 1997, in NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born April 3, 1910, in Bellingham, Wash., Mrs. Graybeal moved to Green Valley 57 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Green Valley Country Club.

She is survived by her husband, Herbert of Green Valley; daughter, Claire Wright of Redway; sister, Zelda Hunt of  Washington; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements were handled by Fairfield Funeral Home in Fairfield.
