Alianza Vanessa Garcia

Funeral services for Alianza Vanessa Garcia, 3, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fairfield Funeral Home. The Rev. Greg Ojeda of Celebration Prayer Center in Cordelia will preside. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Feb. 12, 1994, in Fairfield, she died June 17, 1997.

She is survived by her parents, Yvette Montez and Matthew, both of Fairfield; grandparents, Susie Sturgeon of Fairfield, and Monte Montez of Fresno, and "grandmother," Chris of Fairfield; sister, Briana of Fairfield; brothers, Matthew, Joseph, and Mark Lara, all of Fairfield, and Anthony Montez of Cutler.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jackie Darrel Kingsley

A Catholic Prayer Service for Jackie Darrel Kingsley, 63, of Fairfield will be 4 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

The Rev. Louie Valenzuela of Holy Spirit Catholic Church will preside. Burial will be private.

Born June 2, 1934, in Folsomville, Ind., Mr. Kingsley died June 18, 1997, in San Francisco after a long illness. He lived in Fairfield for 18 years.

He was a veteran of the Navy, and served for nine years. He worked in the Merchant Marines for 38 years, sailing from the port of San Francisco.

He as a member of Seafarers International Union in San Francisco.

He is survived by his wife, Remedios of Fairfield; daughter, Christine of Fairfield; and brother, Connie Norden of Suisun City.

Jerome 'Jerry' Rutta

Upon his request, there will be no services for Jerome "Jerry" Rutta, 65, of Vacaville. Burial will be private.

Born Nov. 17, 1931, in Green Bay, Wis., Mr. Rutta died June 14, 1997, in Winsor House Convalescent Hospital after a long illness.

He was an aircraft mechanic for 20 years, and served as a master sergeant for the Air Force. Also, he worked at California Medical Facility as a manager of service station for 20 years. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, and was a resident of Vacaville for 27 years.

He enjoyed fishing and being in the outdoors.

Mr. Rutta is survived by his sons, Craig of California, and Phil of Sacramento; sister, Elaine Hoxie of  Washington; and brother, Ronald Stanke of  Washington.

Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease, 70 East Lake St., Chicago, Ill. 60601.

Devinder Singh Hothi

Funeral services for Devinder Singh Hothi, 56, of Suisun will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W.  Texas St. in Fairfield.

Inurnment will be private.

Born Oct. 9, 1940, in India, Mr. Hothi died June 17, 1997, in Fairfield following a short illness.

A 19-year resident of Suisun, he served in the Indian navy from 1957 to 1968 as a radio operator. He came to the United States in September 1968, and worked as a farm equipment operator in Yuba City until 1975.

From May 1975 until his death, he worked at C&H Sugar Co. in Crockett.

Mr. Hothi is survived by his wife, Sukhinder Kaur Hothi of Suisun; sons, Jaswinder, Harminder and Rupinder, all of Suisun; and grandson, Devon Jatinder Singh Hothi.

Grace Cordelia King

Graveside services for Grace Cordelia King, 95, of Fairfield were June 19, 1997, in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born March 2, 1902, in Elmira, she died June 17, 1997, in Fairfield.

Mrs. King was a homemaker all of her life, and occasionally worked on the Hawkins Ranch picking and packing fruit. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth of Vacaville and Dayl of Fairfield; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements by McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

Judy Ann Ressler

Graveside services for Judy Ann Ressler, 47, of Vacaville will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond.

Born Aug. 14, 1949, in Nebraska, Mrs. Ressler died June 16, 1997, at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento after a brief illness.

She was a homemaker and single mother who lived in Vacaville for the past 13 years.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis of Rodeo; daughters, Jeanette Whipple and Laura, both of Vacaville; son, Adam of Vacaville; son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Deena Whipple of San Pablo; father, Martin Wilcox Sr. of  Texas; sisters, Kathy Wuelzer of Vallejo and Connie Piskac of El Cerrito; brothers, Martin Wilcox Jr. of San Pablo, Marlin Wilcox of Vallejo, and Matt Wilcox of El Cerrito; granddaughter, Katelin of Vacaville; and many friends.

Donations may be made to a burial fund: In memory of Judy Ressler, c/o Whipple, 32 Las Morades Circle, San Pablo 94806.

Sudie Mae Smith

Funeral services for Sudie Mae Smith, 71, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Suisun City. Rev. Claybon Lea will officiate. Burial will be private.

Mrs. Smith died June 18, 1997, at La Mariposa Nursing Center in Fairfield after and long illness.

Born Aug. 13, 1925, in Jackson, Miss., she was a 39-year resident of Fairfield. She worked for the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District in food services for 19 years.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Walter J. Smith Jr. of Fairfield; daughters, Mildred Boggs of Fairfield, Ruth Forney of Suisun City, Dianne Martin of Ringwood, N.J., Jenda Pettigrew of Tacoma, Wash.; sons, James  Jefferson of Long Beach, Walter III and Davis  Jefferson, both of Fairfield, and Jim of Vallejo; 26 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Heather Dawn Allshouse Blyth

Funeral services for Heather Dawn Allshouse Blyth, 28, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Latter-day Saints Chapel at West 8th Street and Elmwood in Davis.

Elder Steven McBride will officiate. Burial will follow at the Davis Cemetery.

Born Aug. 11, 1968, in Harbor City, she died June 16, 1997, after a long struggle with Lupus.

A graduate of Ricks College in Idaho, she worked in the Human Services Department of the University of California, Davis, Extension for the past five years.

She served in missions in Korea and Iowa, and her love of the Gospel was strong. She loved athletics, especially volleyball, softball and dance.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; and son, Kyle, both of Davis; parents, Ron and Mariel Allshouse of Vacaville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Nathan and Barbara of Fairfield, Seth and Ronnie of Vacaville; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Katrina and Mike Korsak of Roseville, and Shawnda and Rachel, both of Vacaville; 35 cousins; 20 aunts and uncles; six nephews; and three nieces.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, 1300 Piccard Drive, Suite 220, Rockville Md. 20850.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel in Davis.

Louis Brown

Services for Louis Brown, 77, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Monday at Rose Manor Chapel, 3331 Macdonald Ave. in Richmond.

The Rev. C.W. Ridley will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born June 21, 1919, in Sandy Spring, S.C., he died June 16, 1997, in Vacaville.

Mr. Brown lived in Richmond for 15 years before moving to Vacaville 40 years ago.

He retired after 22 years as a mechanic for Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Ella of Vacaville; daughter, Bernadette  Jackson of Vacaville; sons, Anser El Muhammad and Willie Brown, both of Sacramento; sister, Leoni Warren of New York; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.

Judy Ann Ressler

Graveside services for Judy Ann Ressler, 47, of Vacaville will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond.

Veronica M. Tooma-Ferguson

Funeral services for Veronica M. Tooma-Ferguson, 28, of Vacaville will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Vaca Hills Chapel in Vacaville.

Burial with military honors will be in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Oct. 20, 1968, in Louisville, Ky., she died June 18, 1997, in VacaValley Hospital.

A 10-year resident of Vacaville, she served in the Air Force and was a licensed vocational nurse for Wesley Resources.

She loved her dogs, Terminator and Rambo, and also enjoyed playing golf and computer games.

Mrs. Tooma-Ferguson is survived by her husband, Patrick of Vacaville; parents, Milton and Irma Tooma of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Anton Tooma of Louisville, Ky.; grandmother, Bertha Tooma of Louisville, Ky.; and numerous relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Vaca Hills Chapel, 524 Elmira Road in Vacaville.

Memorial contributions can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Northern California Chapter, 150 Grand Ave., Oakland 94612.

Anthony James Barrett

A Mass of Christian Burial for Anthony James Barrett, 70, of Dixon will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Dixon.

Mr. Barrett died June 20, 1997, in Dixon after a long battle with lung cancer.

Born July 9, 1926, in Lawrence, Neb., to Edmund and Elenora Barrett, He purchased a ranch in Dixon in 1970.

Mr. Barrett was a retired attorney who founded the law firm of Barrett, Harper, Wohl, Raatz & Stenson, a professional corporation in Sacramento.

After graduating from Lawrence High School in Nebraska, he took a job with the Stinson Aircraft Co. building airplanes for the Army. He later joined the Navy and served on a mine destroyer in the Pacific during World War II. He was recalled to active duty and served again during the Korean War.

Mr. Barrett was honorably discharged and joined his brother in an insurance agency partnership in San Jose. Later, he joined the State Farm Insurance Co. in Sacramento as a claims adjuster and eventually became interested in law. He received a law degree after being a student at University of Santa Clara School of Law and McGeorge College of Law in Sacramento.

In 1961, Mr. Barrett started the law firm in Sacramento, where he practiced until his retirement in 1993. After retirement, he continued to serve as an arbitrator for Sacramento, El Dorado and Placer counties for the American Arbitrator Association.

During his career, Mr. Barrett was president of the Association of Defense Counsel for Northern California; chairman of the Medical-Legal Malpractice Committee of the Northern California Defense Counsel; and served on the Joint Executive Committee for Legislation of the Defense Counsel Associations of Northern and Southern California.

He was a member of the Sacramento County Bar Association and served on their Judicial Liaison Committee. He is a past president of the Sacramento chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

After moving to his Dixon ranch in 1970, he was very active in the community, having been a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Peter's Catholic Church; Fire Commissioner; founding member of Dixon High School sports booster club; sponsor to Little League teams; and spearhead for the fund-raising drive to build the educational center for St. Peter's Catholic Church.

In 1995, Mr. Barrett was named Dixon Father of the Year.

He is survived by his wife, Leah; children, Rick of Sacramento, Michael of Dixon, Leisa Miller of Dixon, Linda Webb of Dixon, Sheila McCabe of Brea and Jennifer Butts of Herald; sisters, Marcella Thomas of San Jose and Lois Guay of Venice, Fla.; brother, Patrick of Denver; and eight grandchildren.

There will be a rosary at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Peter's.

Arrangements are by Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon.
