Arlene Irene Kentra

Upon her request, there will be no formal funeral services at this time for Arlene Irene Kentra, 58, of Vacaville.

Born Aug. 11, 1938, in San Francisco, Mrs. Kentra died June 28, 1997, after a long illness.

She lived in Vacaville and Fairfield for six years, and was a homemaker for 42 years. She enjoyed going to garage sales.

She is survived by her husband, Anton of Vacaville; daughters, Denise, Karen, Carol, and Mickey; sons, Donald and Joseph; 13 grandchildren; and mother, Florence Wight f Petaluma.

Lorraine P. Vivell

No funeral services are scheduled for Lorraine P. Vivell, 66, of Vacaville.

Born May 31, 1931, in San Francisco, Ms. Vivell died June 7 in Vacaville of pneumonia.

Ms. Vivell moved to Vacaville during the 1960s.

She loved cats and bonsai trees. She travelled widely and was involved in the travel industry. She established Vacaville's first travel office. She worked on cruise ships and specialized in senior travel. She also was active for many years in the Travellarians, a San Francisco-based travel agent group. She was active in the Vacaville Community Theater Fund.

She is survived by her cousin, Ian Zellick.

Leonard Julius Whitman

Funeral services for Leonard Julius Whitman, 18, of Fairfield have been postponed until a later date.

Born Dec. 24, 1978, in Fairfield, Mr. Whitman died June 29, 1997, at NorthBay Medical Center.

He worked for flood control at Labor Ready.

He is survived by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Barbara of Fairfield; sisters, Vickie  Washington, Shawn Watley, Olga, Jessica, and Nycole of Fairfield; brothers, Stephen Watley, Joseph B., Joseph J. Jr. and Byron of Fairfield; grandmother, Cherry Skinner of Fairfield; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Romulo 'Zosimo' Austria

A memorial Mass for Romulo "Zosimo" Austria, 69, of Fairfield will be 9 a.m. today at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Louis Valenzuela will officiate. A private burial will follow.

Mr. Austria was born June 18, 1928 in Lingayan Pangasinan, in the Philippines and died Wednesday at David Grant Medical Center in Travis.

He retired from Clarke Air Force Base in the Philippines after 21 years of service as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He attended the University of Pangasinan for two years.

He lived in Fairfield for four years.

Survivors include his wife, Nenita of Fairfield; sons, Gerald Austria of Abilene,  Texas and Norman Austria of Fairfield; daughter, Emerincina Austria of Fairfield; brother, Romulo Austria of South San Francisco; sisters, Asuncion Verceles, Purita Torres, Nieves De Vera and Elsie Ramos of Mountain View and Ester Rico of Canada; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Northern California at 856 Stanton Rd., Burlingame, 94010.

Connie Marie Crowley

A memorial service for Connie Marie Crowley, 54, of Vacaville, will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Elmira Baptist Church.

The Rev. Jerry Harder of the church will officiate.

Inurnment is private.

A gathering of family and friends will be 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Vacaville's Pena Adobe.

Born March 18, 1943, in Springfield,  Colo., she died June 25, 1997, in Fairfield after a short illness.

She had been active with Rainbow Girls, was a Sunday school teacher, enjoyed reading, flowers and plants, country music and dancing.

Ms. Crowley is survived by daughters, Mona Lisa Garcia of Fairfield, Madonna Marie Garcia of Vacaville, Michelle Denise Nix of Vallejo and Miriam Nicole Green of Vacaville; son, Shawn of Vacaville; mother, Wilma Elbrader of Colorado; sister, Cherlynn Baldwin of Colorado, and six grandchildren.

A memorial contribution may be made to the East Bay Region American Cancer Society, 1700 Webster St., Oakland 94612.

Alice M. McCloskey

Funeral services for Alice M. McCloskey, 79, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Janet M. Corpus will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, N.D.

Mrs. McCloskey died Monday in Fairfield after a long illness.

She was born Dec. 1, 1917, in Pelican Rapids, Minn.

She worked as a sales clerk for 15 years.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening.

She belonged to the Sons of Norway and St. Marks Lutheran Church in Fairfield.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws, Allen and daughter-in-law, Helen Bergoust of Fairfield and Donald and Carol Bergoust of Missoula, Mont.; sister, Tillie  Johnson of Jamestown, N.D.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ruth Ann Loomis Prouty

Funeral services for Ruth Ann Loomis Prouty, 93, of Denton,  Texas, will be Tuesday at McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

The Rev. Vic Matson of Community United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Vacaville Elmira Cemetery on Tuesday.

Born Oct. 11, 1903, in Gilmonton, Wis., Mrs. Prouty died Wednesday in Denton,  Texas.

She lived in Vacaville for 35 years before moving to  Texas. She was a school teacher for 25 years.

She enjoyed painting and writing poetry and was a member of the Saturday Club and the Daughters of the Revolution of Vacaville. Mrs. Prouty is survived by her sons, Herb of  Texas, and Preston of Manhattan Beach; and granddaughter, Paula Creacy of Dallas.

Roy Dale Creager

Funeral services for Roy Dale Creager, 76, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fairfield Funeral Home.

Burial will follow. The Rev. Ed Sanderson of the Church of Christ will preside.

Born July 10, 1920, in Vinco, Okla., Mr. Creager died July 1, 1997, at his home after a long lung-related illness.

He was the past president of Carpenters Union No. 180, and was a member for 50 years. He moved to Fairfield 54 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Uruth of Fairfield; son, Leon of Fairfield; daughter, Carolyn Perdigao of Manhattan Beach; brothers, Frank of  Oklahoma, and Omer of New Mexico; sister, Maxine Savory of  Oklahoma; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. today at Fairfield Funeral Home.

George Albert O'Bra

Graveside services for George Albert O'Bra, 85, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Jan. 20, 1912, in Chicago, Mr. O'Bra died July 3, 1997, after a long illness.

He was a retired member of the U.A. Local No. 342 Steamfitters.

He is survived by his wife, Frances; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Ray Adema of Dixon; son and daughter-in-law, James and Susan of El Dorado Hills; sister, Marion Stephens of Steger, Ill.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, Vacaville chapter.

Cloys D. "Corky" Walser

Funeral services for Cloys D. "Corky" Walser, 65, of Dixon will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Dixon Community Church.

Private burial will be in Silveyville Cemetery. The Revs. Bud  Jones and Bob Brigham of Vaca Valley Christian Life Center will preside.

Born Nov. 14, 1931, in Brownsfield,  Texas, Mr. Walser died July 2, 1997, in Sutter Davis Hospital.

Mr. Walser was the owner and operator of the commercial hay harvesting business C.D. Walser, Inc. in Dixon.

He was a Dixon resident since June 1968, and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Dixon. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed duck hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah of Dixon; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Debbie of Albany, Ore., and Dave and Jeannine of Dixon; son, Galen of Albany, Ore.; brother, Wayland of Dixon; sister, Pat Phelan of Albany, Ore.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon. Contributions can by made to the American Heart Association.

Lori Baxter

A memorial service for Lori Baxter, 32, of Fairfield, a public affairs officer for David Grant Medical Center, will be at 11:30 a.m. today at the medical center auditorium at Travis Air Force Base.

The public is invited, although civilians must enter from the hospital gate off Airbase Parkway.

Baxter died June 29, 1997, from injuries in a Portland, Ore., hospital following a head-on collision on Interstate 5 north of Tangent.

Authorities said an Oregon man whose vehicle crossed the freeway median into Baxter's path, died at the accident scene.

Baxter's injured son, Phillip, 7, remains in guarded condition at a hospital's intensive care unit in Albany, Ore., according to Travis Air Base officials Monday.

Baxter had worked at the Travis Air Force Base hospital for about three years. Previously, she had worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard.

And friends said Baxter was also a part-time comedian who had once been an opening act for country-western musician Garth Brooks.

Mrs. Baxter is survived by her husband,  Jefferson; son, Phillip; sister, Lisa Nielsen; and her mother, Florence Scussel.

Dominador C. Canlas

Funeral services for Dominador C. Canlas, 77, of Suisun, will be in the Philippine Islands.

Burial is in Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City in the Philippine Islands.

Born March 6, 1920, in Arayat, Pampanga, the Philippine Islands, Mr. Canlas died July 4, 1997, at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield following a brief illness.

A four-year resident of Suisun, he worked at Clark Air Force Base in Manila, the Philippine Islands.

He also worked for the United States Agency for International Development in the Philippine Islands for 28 years as a professional photographer.

Mr. Canlas is survived by his wife, Cecilia of Suisun; sons Albert and Edwin, both of Suisun, Edwin Cadell of Vallejo, and Wendell, Roland and Norman all Canlas, all of Manila; brothers, Aguinaldo and Benjamin, both of Manila; sisters, Maria Mercurio of Phoenix, and Juanita Palma, Rosenda Ibay and Marcelina Chua, all of the Philippine Islands; and 12 grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
