Betty Florence Palm

Funeral services for Betty Florence Palm of Vacaville will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Foothill United Methodist Church, 3301 Green Valley Road in Rescue.

Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Placerville.

Born Sept. 8, 1920, in Twin Falls, Idaho, she died July 4, 1997, in Vacaville, following a short illness.

She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1942 and taught school for many years in San Jose. She retired to Camino where she lived until moving to Vacaville in 1995.

She loved family, friends, gardening and bridge. She was a faithful member of the P.E.O., a philanthropic women's organization, and attended the United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Anne Blakesman of Richmond; son John P. of Benicia; brother John D. Provost of Gulfport, Miss.; grandchildren Chad, Tiffany and Shannon Blakeman and Brad and Cheryl Dean; and great-grandchild, Kyle Blakeman.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Pines in Placerville.

Ruth Ann Loomis Prouty

Funeral services for Ruth Ann Loomis Prouty, 93, of Denton,  Texas, will be held in McCune Garden Chapel, Vacaville, at 10 a.m. today.

The Rev. Vic Matson of Community United Methodist Church will officiate.

Burial will be held in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Oct. 11, 1903, in Gilmonton, Wis., Mrs. Prouty died July 2, 1997, in  Texas.

She lived in Vacaville 35 years prior to moving to  Texas, and had been a school teacher 25 years.

She was a member of Vacaville's Saturday Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution in Vacaville and enjoyed painting and writing poetry, some of which was published.

Mrs. Prouty is survived by sons, Herb of  Texas and Preston of Manhattan Beach; and a granddaughter, Paula Creacy of Dallas.

A memorial contribution may be made to the Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 2200 Peabody Road, Vacaville, 95687.

David Joseph De La Rosby

A memorial service for David Joseph De La Rosby, 49, of Suisun City, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fair-field.

The Rev. Sebastian Meyer of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Born Jan. 10, 1948, in Glendale, Mr. De La Rosby died July 2, 1997, in his home after a sudden illness.

He lived in Suisun 10 years after being a Fairfield resident 30 years.

And, he had been a Tech. Sgt. and jet mechanic in the Air Force from 1967 to 1997. He was a decorated Vietnam War veteran serving in Phan Rang, Vietnam.

He was also an avid bass fisherman.

Mr. De La Rosby is survived by a daughter, Shelbi D. Ellis of Winters; sons, Paul and David of Sacramento; sisters, Ann Marie and Karen, both of Fairfield; brother, Robert of Suisun; and granddaughters Breanne and Kenzi Ellis of Winters.

June 'Maki' Woodruff

A memorial service for June "Maki" Woodruff, 66, of Suisun City, will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, Fairfield.

The Rev. Akira Tairyo Hata will officiate.

Inurnment will be at the Junisha Shrine, Tochigi-Shi, Tochigi-Ken, Japan.

Born July 28, 1930, in Tochigi-Shi, Tochigi-Ken, Mrs. Woodruff died at home July 2, 1997, after a long illness.

She lived in Suisun City 11 years and had been an aviculturist seven years and a homemaker 32 years.

Mrs. Woodruff is survived by her husband, Michael, and several relatives in Japan.

A memorial contribution may be made to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Northern California, 600 Nut Tree Road, Vacaville, 95687.

Lee David Cameron Jr.

Funeral services for Lee David Cameron Jr., 71, of Auburn, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

The Rev. Marshall Stevens of Calvary Baptist Church in American Canyon, will officiate.

Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Aug. 14, 1925, in Mason,  Texas, he died July 6, 1997, in Auburn Faith Community Hospital in Auburn after a short illness. He lived in Auburn six years.

Mr. Cameron owned and operated an amusement business. He was involved in drag racing and was an avid golfer.

He served in the Merchant Marines for 1949 to 1951 and the Army from 1952 to 1954.

Mr. Cameron is survived by his wife, Joan; daughter, Anita Denise Jelinski of Salt Lake City; sons, Edwin of Gambrils, Md., Rodney of Vacaville, Curtis of Lincoln, and Lee Davis III, of Citrus Heights; sisters, Vernell Moddison of Sacramento and Wanda Boot of Vallejo; brothers, Jim of Oregon and Jack of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Susana E. Cortez

A Mass of Christian Burial for Susana E. Cortez, 79, of Fairfield, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

Inurnment will be private.

Born Aug. 11, 1917, in Santa Ana, El Salvador, Mrs. Cortez died July 7, 1997, in her home after a short illness. She lived in Fairfield 15 years.

She worked as a nurse in El Salvador for 30 years and operated a medical clinic there.

Arriving in the United States 29 years ago, she worked as a nurse's aide for 20 years.

Mrs. Cortez is survived by a daughter, Anna "Vicky" Rodas of Fairfield; sons, Rene of Torrance and Jose of El Salvador; brothers, David of San Francisco and Ismael of El Salvador; 13 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Mary Jane Duncan

Inurnment for Mary Jane Duncan, 72, of Vacaville, will be in Valley Memorial Cemetery in Novato. At her request, no other services will be held.

Mrs. Duncan died July 3, 1997, in Vacaville Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.

Born April 3, 1925, in Renfrue, Scotland, she moved to the area in 1996. She was a homemaker for 30 years.

She is survived by her sons, Paul of Vacaville, Chris of Delhi, and Robert of Poway; daughter, Karen Duncan-Wood of Whittier; and seven grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Mary May Fontes

Graveside services for Mary May Fontes, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum in San Diego. Monsignor Patterson of St. Rita's Church will officiate. Inurnment will follow the services.

Born Sept. 26, 1911, in San Francisco, Mrs. Fontes died July 4, 1997, in Fairfield.

She was manager of the Casa Mobile Park for 28 years and was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville. She enjoyed cooking, baking and dancing.

She is survived by her son, Ernest of Vacaville; sister, Frances Rancatore of San Francisco; brother, William Federici of San Francisco; nephew, Leonard Altieri of Vacaville; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease National Headquarters, 70 East Lake Street, Chicago, Ill. 60601.

Arrangements are being handled by McCune Garden Chapel.

Susan Rogers Rock

Funeral services for Susan Rogers Rock, 42, of Santa Cruz, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Santa Cruz Bible Church in Santa Cruz. Burial will be private in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Sept. 23, 1954, in Fairfield, Mrs. Rock died July 2, 1997, at her family home.

Mrs. Rock attended Vacaville schools, and served six years in the Air Force. She was employed several years by an electronics company in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She had also been employed by the county of Santa Cruz.

She is survived by her husband, James; daughter, Kristn of Santa Cruz; mother, Bonnie Rogers of Vacaville; brothers, Ronald Rogers of Napa and Dale Rogers of Vacaville; and three nephews.

James Eugene Todd

A Catholic Memorial Mass for James Eugene Todd, 66, of Fairfield, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery. The Rev. Michael Downey will preside.

Born May 23, 1931, in Anacortes, Wash., Mr. Todd died July 8, 1997, at his home. He retired from the Air Force in 1971 after 20 years of service. He was a tech sergeant, and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He was a member of the Fairfield Moose Lodge, the Air Force Sergeants Association, and the Senior American Club.

Mr. Todd is survived by his wife, Maria of Fairfield; daughter, Sally Modrich of Fairfield; son, James Jr. of Fairfield; sister, Mary Sechrengost of  Washington state; and five grandchildren.

Clifford Francis Dyer

A memorial service for Clifford Francis Dyer, 77, formerly of Vacaville, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Lake Church.

The Rev. Michael Deptula will preside.

Born April 4, 1920, in Los Angeles, Mr. Dyer died July 1, 1997.

Mr. Dyer was an equipment maintenance supervisor in Vacaville for the state of California for 25 years. He was a resident of Arizona and Lake Havasu City, Ariz., for seven years. He was a member of the Havasu Singles.

He was in the Army during World War II. He participated in the North Africa and Sicilian campaigns. He was wounded during the landing at Anzio, Italy.

He is survived by his daughter, Patty of Livermore; step-daughter, Lee Abernathy of Yucaipa; stepson, Jim Crosby of Claremont; brother, Ed of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; half-brother, Larry of Sacramento; sisters, Annette Blackford of Milwaukee, and Dorothy  White of Fullerton; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Contributions may be made to the Hospice of Havasu.

Margaret S. O'Connell

A memorial service for Margaret S. O'Connell, 83, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

The Rev. James E. Harvey will preside. Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore.

Born Aug. 21, 1913, in Nova Scotia, Canada, Mrs. O'Connell died July 7, 1997, in Fairfield after a long illness. She lived in Fairfield for four years.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Portle Hurst Presbyterian Church in San Francisco, and the Suisun Senior Center. She loved needlework and traveling.

Mrs. O'Connell is survived by her daughters, Lois J. Makinster and Janet, both of Fairfield; sister, Sadie Barrett of Denver,  Colo.; and brother-in-law, Lyle of Millbrae.

Contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, P.O. Box 21-4477, Sacramento 95821.
