Grayce Lillian Nelson

A memorial service for Grayce Lillian Nelson, 81, of Vacaville will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 13 at Dassel Covenant Church in Dassel, Minn.

Burial will follow.

Born March 27, 1916, Mrs. Nelson died Sept. 3, 1997.

She was a homemaker, and was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Vacaville and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She lived in Vacaville for three years.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband of 57 years, George; sons, Gary of Danville and Robert of Minneapolis; daughter, Debe Rougeau of Reno; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of  Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel.

Contributions can be made to the Community Presbyterian Church, 425 Hemlock St. in Vacaville.

Arthur William Stanley

A memorial service with military honors for Arthur William Stanley, 69, of Suisun City will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. John Duncan of Grace Episcopal Church in Fairfield will officiate. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born May 28, 1928, in Grinnell, Iowa, Mr. Stanley died Sept. 1, 1997, at his home after a long illness.

He had lived in Suisun City for 25 years.

He was a yeoman second class in the Navy from 1948 to 1967, serving in Korea and Vietnam. He served as a records keeper for several tours of duty.

After his military service, he was a warehouseman and delivery driver for Furniture Freight of Suisun City for 12 years. He became a limousine driver in 1983 and drove a taxi for Fairfield Cab Co. until 1993.

He enjoyed bowling and playing darts.

He is survived by his wife, Joy; daughters, Sherry Caldwell of Napa, Brenda Thompson of Suisun City and Tyra Fowler of Napa; son, Michael of Suisun City; stepdaughters, Louella  Taylor of Suisun City and Edna Clouse of California; stepsons, James Savell and Daniel Savell, both of Philadelphia, Miss.; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Roshond M. Vance

Funeral services for Roshond M. Vance, 19, of Phoenix will be 3 p.m. Monday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

The Rev. Nathaniel Bragg of St. Matthew Baptist Church will preside. Inurnment will be private.

Born Nov. 26, 1978, in Stuttgart, Ark., Mr. Vance died Sept. 2, 1997, in Phoenix. He was a victim of a shooting.

Mr. Vance moved to Phoenix to explore a career in rap music.

He is survived by his mother, Estell of Vacaville; father, Phillip of Arkansas; brothers, Phillip Jr. of Sacramento and Robert of Vacaville; sister and brother-in-law, Latanya and Emelio Escavelle of Sacramento; grandparents, Ertha Mae and Osea of Arkansas; nephews, E.J. Escavelle, Christopher Escavelle, and Exavior Escavelle, all of Sacramento.

Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Monday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Raul C. Castro

A Mass of Christian Burial for Raul C. Castro, 81, of Fairfield will be 7 p.m. Monday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Burial will be 10 a.m. in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Oct. 12, 1915, in Cotula,  Texas, Mr. Castro died Sept. 5, 1997, in NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield after a short illness.

He lived 45 years in Fairfield. He worked as a farmer for 45 years.

Mr. Castro is survived by his wife, Consuelo of Fairfield; daughters, Lydia Machuca and Mary Allen, both of Fairfield, Laticia Gonzalez of Rio Vista, Alice Morris of Vallejo, and Jovita Herrera and Gloria Martinez, both of San Jose; sons, Ernie of Fairfield and Mario of Sunnyvale; sisters, Lupe of San Ramon, Margarita Ramirez of West Covina, and Maria of Jalisco, Mexico; brothers, Javier of Fairfield and Jesus of Los Angeles; 31 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Monday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W.  Texas St., Fairfield.

Freddye Mae Gillens

Funeral services for Freddye Mae Gillens, 75, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Monday in Fairmont Memorial Park Chapel in Fairfield.

The Rev. W.A. Burkey of First Baptist Church will officiate. Entombment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born July 14, 1922, in Greensboro, S.C., Mrs. Gillens died Aug. 31, 1997, in David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base after a long illness.

She moved to Fairfield 29 years ago. She worked for more than 20 years as a cafeteria worker for the school districts of Knoxville, Tenn., and Fairfield-Suisun. She also worked 21/2 years as a security guard during high school events for Harris Security Co.

Mrs. Gillens was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fairfield, where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Hanna Women's Club. She also enjoyed singing and cooking.

Mrs. Gillens is survived by her husband, Nathaniel of Fairfield; daughter, Cornelia "Connie" Peterson; son and daughter-in-law, Theodore and Jo-Ann of North Pole, Alaska; sister, Clara Hassler of Knoxville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Fairmont Memorial Park Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 631 Howard St., Suite 250, San Francisco 94105.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

William Dale Neal

Mass of Christian Burial for William Dale Neal, 58, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Church.

The Rev. David O'Rourke will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Neal died Friday in Vaca Valley Hospital after a sudden illness.

Born Oct. 29, 1938, in Arkansas, he moved to Vacaville 13 years ago. He worked as a Correctional Officer for California State Prisons Solano for 15 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was the Job Steward for CCEPOA.

Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, Jennifer of Vacaville; children, Zowie of Vacaville and Mark of Colorado; grandchildren, Kenon, Avary and Kenyan, all of Colorado.

Visitation is today from noon to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. in Vaca Hills Chapel. Rosary will be Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to a trust fund established at Golden 1 Credit Union, Golden Hills Shopping Center, Vacaville; Account #1000103581.

Mary M. Darling

Catholic Prayer Service for Mary M. Darling, 56, of Fairfield will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W.  Texas St. in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela of Holy Spirit Church will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born Aug. 22, 1941, in North Dakota (Cavalier County), Mrs. Darling died Sept. 3, 1997, in Fairfield after a short illness.

She moved to Fairfield 21 years ago. She worked as a registered nurse for Kaiser Permanente Health Foundation the past 30 years.

Mrs. Darling is survived by a son, Charles Lundquist of Santa Cruz; daughters, Tami Greene and Toni Lundquist, both of Fairfield; brothers, Wallace of El Sobrante, Joe of Point Richmond and Larry of Santa Rosa; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

David Eugene Morgan

Funeral services for David Eugene Morgan, 72, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Friday in McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

The Rev. Leo Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Nov. 10, 1924, in Bell Tower, Mont., he died Sept. 8, 1997, in Vacaville after a long illness.

Mr. Morgan lived in Vacaville 34 years, and had worked for the Postal Service 21 years as a clerk. He also had been a manager of the Rural Electrification Association in Ashland, Mont.

He served in the Army in Panama during World War II after enlisting in 1943. He was honorably discharged in 1947, but continued as an Army reservist for three years.

Mr. Morgan was past president of GSMOL, Chapter 1392, in Skylark Mobile Park, Vacaville, and was past president of American Postal Worker's Union Local 1743.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening and his grandchildren.

Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife, Ione; daughters, Anna of South Dakota and Michelle Elgin of Fremont; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Rick Smith of Vacaville; son, Michael of Vacaville; brothers, Max of Vacaville and Harold of Santa Maria; mother-in-law, Jean Elmore of Montana; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St. in Vacaville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 290 Fruitvale Road, Vacaville 95688.

Frederick Marshall Yoelin

Funeral service for Frederick Marshall Yoelin, 52, of Suisun will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

The Rev. Larry Vilardo of Rockville Presbyterian Fellowship will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born Jan. 7, 1945, in Boise, Idaho, Mr. Yoelin died Sept. 8, 1997, in Fairfield after a long illness.

Mr. Yoelin lived in Suisun for three years. He was a truck driver for Conway Western Express in Hayward for 25 years.

He loved the outdoors, boating, fishing and camping.

Mr. Yoelin is survived by his wife, Kelly of Suisun; daughter, Rachel of Suisun; son, Paul of Los Angeles; brother, Tony of Arcadia; and two nieces and two nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to NorthBay Hospice, 1200 B. Gale Wilson Blvd., Fairfield 94533.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Hazel Sybil Sumner Plaskiewicz

A memorial service for Hazel Sybil Sumner Plaskiewicz, 83, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Chapels.

Inurnment will be in Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond.

Born May 28, 1914, in Arkansas, Mrs. Plaskiewicz died Sept. 9, 1997, at home after a long illness. She was a Vallejo and American Canyon resident for 15 years.

Mrs. Plaskiewicz was a homemaker, and was a member of the Women of the Moose No. 468 in Vallejo.

She is survived by her husband, Julian of American Canyon; daughters, Shiela Morse and Venita Redford, both of Vacaville; sons, Kenneth Sumner of Vacaville and John Sumner of American Canyon; sister, Opal Ipock of American Canyon; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Anna M. Haddox

Funeral services for Anna M. Haddox, 72, of Vacaville, will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Vacaville, 1127 Davis St.

Pastor Leroy Gainey will officiate. Burial will follow in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born April 26, 1915, in Bower, Okla., she died Sept. 11, 1997, in VacaValley Hospital after a sudden illness.

A resident of Vacaville since 1942, she was the head cook at Solano County Hospital for 12 years and a homemaker.

She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Vacaville and Grandma's Bible Club of Vacaville.

She enjoyed cooking, crafts, traveling and being with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Frances L.  Jackson of Vacaville, Ruth Carolyn Coulon of Chico and Sally Ann Ellis of Fredericksburg, Va.; son, Allan of Reno; brothers, Baxter Anderson of Missouri, and Dale, Don, Mirl and Kim, all of  Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred.

Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Vacaville, Special Fund, 1127 Davis St., Vacaville 95687.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.
