Ollie May Hays

Funeral services for Ollie May Hays, 87, of Dixon will be 11 a.m. Monday in Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

The Rev. Catharine Morris of Dixon United Community Church will officiate. Burial will be in Silveyville Cemetery.

Born July 29, 1910, in Belgrade, Mo., Mrs. Hays died Sept. 16, 1997, in Davis.

She moved to Dixon 57 years ago, and was a homemaker for 67 years. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club, Grace Circle and had been a member of the Dixon United Methodist Church for more than 50 years.

She enjoyed gardening and her church work.

Mrs. Hays is survived by her daughter, Ruth 004 . 0000.00Austin of Dixon; son, John of Hopland; brother, Clate Dane of Missouri; sisters, Sally Scaggs of Fairfield, and Velma Boyher and Lura Lord, both of Missouri; grandchildren, Sandy Scott, Linda Austin, Carla Ganaway, Cari Lizarraga, Valerie Froman, and Carl, John and James; andfive great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jess, and son Carl.

A visitation will be held in Milton Carpenter Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014 Davis 95617; or to the Dixon United Methodist Church, 209 N.  Jefferson St., Dixon 95620.

Renee Irene Ahart

Memorial services for Renee Irene Ahart, 54, of Suisun will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at 806 Travis Blvd., Fairfield.

Malcolm Weston of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. Inurnment will be private at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born March 14, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Ahart died Sept. 17, 1997, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Vallejo after a short illness.

She moved to Suisun 37 years ago. She was self-employed rancher for 14 years and worked as a part-time beautician for the past 35 years.

Mrs. Ahart enjoyed ranching with her husband at Tule Vista Livestock, cooking for family and friends, gardening, cattle ranching and spending time with her children and grandchildren, and Bunko night with the ladies.

Mrs. Ahart is survived by her husband, Ernest Jr. of Suisun; daughter, Denee Nalley of Suisun; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lori Nalley of Napa; two grandchildren, Kayla and Kyle Nalley of Napa; mother, Wanda Virden of Vacaville; sister, Linda Virden of Chico; and a brother, Tom Virden of Las Vegas.

Memorial contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society, 1312 Maryland St., Fairfield 94533.

Arrangements are by Fairfield Funeral Home.

Ruth Irene Blood

Memorial services for Ruth Irene Blood, 69, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Monday in Orchard Avenue Baptist Church. The Rev. Stan Smith will officiate.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Born June 13, 1928, in Toronto, Canada, Mrs. Blood died Sept. 17, 1997, in VacaValley Hospital after a long illness.

She moved to the area 29 years ago. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Blood is survived by her husband of 47 years, Donald; son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Patti Blood of Vacaville; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Rick Kelly of Vacaville, and Dale and Dom Baker of Grass Valley; brother, Douglas E. Patten of Canada; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contribution may be made to the expansion fund of Orchard Avenue Baptist Church, 301 N. Orchard Ave., Vacaville 95688.

Maggie Lee Campbell

Funeral services will be held for Maggie Lee Campbell, 93. Burial will be in the Erick Cemetery in Erick, Okla.

Born April 29, 1904, in Ector, Okla., Ms. Campbell died Sept. 17, 1997, in Davis after a long illness.

She worked for H.K. Speed, and as a registered nurse for 35 years. She had belonged to a nurses association for many years. She lived in Dixon for 12 years after moving there from  Oklahoma.

Ms. Campbell is survived by her brother, Lonnie of Porterville; sister, Ida Wilson of  Oklahoma; nephew, Joe Brown; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

Mary Frances Crudup

Entombment for Mary Frances Crudup, 88, of Fairfield will be private at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born Aug. 12, 1909, in Olds Township, Greene County, N.C., Mrs. Crudup died Sept. 16, 1997, after a long illness.

During her life she worked as a teacher, cosmetologist, domestic help seamstress and secretary. She lived in Fairfield for 25 years.

She is survived by her son, Edward M. of Fairfield, and daughter, Jacqueline Kidd of Fairfield.

Visitation will be 2 to 3:30 p.m. today at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Alberta Lee Doten

Memorial services for Alberta Lee Doten, 61, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset's on the Lake Restaurant at Tahoe Vista. Cremation will be private at Masonic Gardens Crematory in Reno.

Born Nov. 14, 1935, in Levelland,  Texas, Mrs. Doten died Sept. 15, 1997, at her home.

She was raised in Southern California, then moved to the Danville area. She last lived in Agate Bay for seven years.

An artist and gardener, Mrs. Doten was a member of the Danville Art Association and Laguna Art Festival. She was also a member of various parent teachers associations, and was a team mother.

Mrs. Doten is survived by her sons, Michael Scott of Oakland, Steven Laird of Berkeley, and John Edward of San Francisco; mother, Johnnie Lee Vickers; and stepfather, Ken Vickers of Vacaville.

She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Edward Lee.

Arrangements are by Truckee Tahoe Mortuary.

Elnora Ida Johnson

Funeral services for Elnora Ida Johnson, 87, of Dixon will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

Minister Ed Sanderson of Church of Christ in Vacaville will officiate. Burial will be in Silveyville Cemetery.

Born July 8, 1910, in Sacramento, Mrs.  Johnson died Sept. 17, 1997, in Woodland after a long illness. She had lived in Dixon for 66 years.

She was a homemaker who belonged to 4-H for many years and was a member of the Dixon Boat Club and the Farm Bureau Association. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, knitting, crafts and ceramics.

She is survived by daughters, Ellamae Lopes of Woodland, Shirley  Woods of Redding, Frances Sievers of Dixon, Va Dell  Johnson of Dixon and Idell McIntyre of Dixon; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Albert P. Walker

A Mass of Christian Burial for Albert P. Walker, 66, of Suisun will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Burial will be in Fairfield-Suisun Cemetery.

Born July 17, 1931, in Mississippi, Mr. Walker died Sept. 16, 1997, at home after a short illness. He lived in Suisun for 16 years. He worked as a mail handler with the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years, and also served in the U.S. Marines and was a veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Brigida of Suisun; daughter, Fleta of Emeryville; stepdaughter, Renita Gordon of Richmond; and stepson, Fredrick Gordon of Richmond.

Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Monday. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday at Fairfield Funeral Home.

Wilma Morris

A memorial service for Wilma Morris, 92, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
The Rev. Stan Sanderson will officiate.

Burial will be private in Olivet Memorial Park in Colma.

Born Oct. 12, 1904, in Hungary, she died Sept. 17, 1997, in NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield after a short illness.

She worked for Walgreen's Drug Store for 35 years and had been a cosmetics department supervisor.

Mrs. Morris is survived by her brother, William Stulla of West Lake Village; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Fernando Varas de Valdes

A Mass of Christian Burial for Fernando Varas de Valdes, 94, of Suisun will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Entombment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.

Mr. de Valdes died Sept. 18, 1997, at his home after a long illness.

Born June 14, 1903, in Tetecala, Morelos, Mexico, he moved to Suisun one month ago. He came to the United States at age 16 and lived in San Francisco. He worked at the consulate of both Haiti and Uruguay. He also worked in the field of immigration for a number of years.

He owned his own freight-forwarding business in San Francisco for 10 years. He was a notary public for 50 years. He lived in San Francisco from 1919 to 1983. In 1983, he moved to Modesto, until he moved to Suisun a month ago with his daughter.

Mr. de Valdes is survived by his daughters, Virginia of Daly City, Patricia Tyler of Vacaville, Anamarie Lee of Suisun and Catalina of Daly City; sons, Fernando Jr. of Houston, and Raul and Lawrence, both of San Francisco; sisters, Soledad Tortoledo of Livermore and Maria Elena Rivera of Tijuana, Mexico; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today. Rosary will be 7 p.m. today in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Michael David Turner

Funeral services with full military honors for Michael David Turner, 37, of Suisun City will be 2 p.m. Monday at Chapel Center at Travis Air Force Base.

Chaplain Capt. McCaine will preside. Cremation will follow the service.

Born July 14, 1960, at Lockbourne Air Force Base, Ohio, Mr. Turner died Sept. 17, 1997, in Crockett, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

He was a Air Force technical sergeant assigned to the 60th Logistics Squadron as a pneudralic system instructor at Travis. He served 18 years in the Air Force.

He attended Valley High School in Sacramento, graduating in June 1978. He returned to California in June 1994 and was assigned to Travis.

Mr. Turner is survived by his wife, Ute; daughters, Jil and Nachelle; son, Michael Jr.; parents, Jacquelyn and Ruben Sr. of Folsom; sisters, Sheila and Sharon; brothers, Ruben Jr. and Donald Douglas; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Chapel Center.

Arrangements are by Skyview Memorial Lawn in Vallejo.

Mable Ethel Hall

Funeral services for Mable Ethel Hall, 79, of Suisun, will be 10 a.m. today in Bryan Braker Funeral Home.

Pastor Bailey of Solid Rock Church of God will officiate. Interment will be in Rockville Cemetery following services.

Mrs. Hall died Friday at Fairfield Health Care of a short illness.

Born March 1, 1918, in Fresno, she moved to Suisun 55 years ago. She was a homemaker who dedicated life to the caring of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Eastern Stars #222 Rio Vista, an honorary member of Suisun City Firemans Assoc.

She is survived by a daughter, Carlene Hall of Suisun City; son, James Pennington of Rocklin; grandchildren, Michael Torrence and Carl Loney of Suisun City, David Torrence of Fairfield, Tom Loney of San Diego, Ruth Ann Loney of Yuba City; sister, Beulah Reese of James Town; 8 great-grandchildren.

Vistation was 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
