John 'Pat' O'Hara

No formal services will be held for John "Pat" O'Hara, 58, of Fairfield. Inurnment will be private.

Born Nov. 7, 1939, in Coos Bay, Ore., Mr. O'Hara died Sept. 28, 1997, at Kaiser Permanente, Vallejo after a long illness.

He lived in Fairfield for 34 years. He attended elementary and secondary schools in Coos Bay, Salem and Independence, Oregon. In 1963, he received his bachelor's of science degree from Oregon State University, and in 1970 earned his master's of science degree from University of  South Carolina. He taught junior and senior high school mathematics in Benicia, Canada and Vallejo. Poor health forced his retirement in 1973. He pursued numerous business interests, projects and hobbies.

Mr. O'Hara is survived by his wife, Carole of Fairfield; father, John of Seattle; sister, Barbara Leahy of Seattle; sister-in-law, Miranda of Salem, Ore.; special friend, Hutch Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Isabelle.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crohnes Disease, 1730 S. Amphlett Blvd., Suite 230, San Mateo 94402.

Arrrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

David Dean Wallin

Funeral services for David Dean Wallin, 59, of Fairfield will be 3:30 p.m. Oct. 2 at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. David T. Wallin of Ben Wade Covenant Church in Minnesota will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born June 19, 1938, in Tyler Village, Lincoln County, Minnesota, Mr. Wallin died Sept. 27, 1997, at his home in Fairfield.

Mr. Wallin was a graduate of Chico High School and Chico State College. He was a longtime educator for the Travis Unified School District, teaching choral and instrumental music at Golden West Middle School and Vanden High School for 27 years, and history and economics at North Campus High School for the last five years.

He is survived by his son, Melvin Brito of Vacaville; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth and Charles Hartjen of Chula Vista; Janet Slade of Woodbury, Minn.; and Debra Enemark of Osage Beach, Mo.; brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Vera of Bloomington, Ill.; and eight nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Contributions may be made to the "David D. Wallin Music Scholarship Fund" in the care of Melvin Brito, 561 Eldridge Ave., Vacaville.

Ava Nell Easter

Funeral services for Ava Nell Easter, 52, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Friday in McCune Garden Chapel.

The Rev. Neil Hubbard of Epiphany Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will follow immediately after the services in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born March 17, 1945, in Hope, Ark., Mrs. Easter died Sept. 29, 1997, in Vacaville after a long illness. She had lived in Vacaville for the past 26 years. She worked in food services for the Napa and Fairfield-Suisun school districts, with her last position being food services manager for the Travis Unified School District.

Mrs. Easter enjoyed camping, fishing and reading.

She is survived by her husband, William R. of Vacaville; sons, William Suellau of Rancho Cordova and Michael Suellau of Cleveland; sister, Irene Kneezle of St. Louis; brother, William Webb of Folsom; one stepson; one stepdaughter; two grandchildren; and three step-grandsons.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Margaret Mae Triplett

No formal services will be held for Margaret Mae Triplett, 89, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Born Nov. 11, 1907, in Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. Triplett died Sept. 26, 1997, in Vacaville after a short illness.

She lived in Vacaville for 32 years. She retired from Will C. Wood High School after giving years of love and hugs to students and teachers alike while she performed her duties as a yard duty aide. Affectionately called "Grandma," Mrs. Triplett will be remembered as the "Pied Piper" of Vacaville because of her love of children.

Mrs. Triplett is survived by her son, Arthur R. Triplett of College Park, Ga.; daughter, Betty J. Thompson of San Bruno; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Leonardo Tantiangco Baluyot

Formal services for Leonardo Tantiangco Baluyot, 46, of Fairfield will be Oct. 10 at Loyola Memorial Chapel in Manila, Philippines.

Born April 11, 1951, in the Philippine Islands, he died Sept. 30, 1997, at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base after a brief illness.

A resident of Fairfield for seven months, Mr. Baluyot served in the U.S. Navy from 1974 to 1997.

He retired in Italy on his last tour of duty. He worked as a dental technician during his service time, and moved to Fairfield for his retirement years.

He is survived by his wife, Susan of Fairfield; daughters, Cecile and Arlene of Fairfield; son, Lester of Fairfield; brothers, Rafael of Manila, Philippines, and Meddic of San Jose; sisters, Mila Manuel of Austria and Rose DeVries of Luxembourg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosenda and Benjamin.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Barbara Wilkerson

Funeral services for Barbara Wilkerson, 75, of Gardnerville, Nev., will be during a private ceremony in Rockville Cemetery.

Born May 4, 1922, in Albuquerque, N.M., she died Sept. 30, 1997, in her home after a brief illness.

An owner of a furniture store since 1943, she enjoyed country-western dancing, painting and flying.

Mrs. Wilkerson is survived by her son, Evert II; daughter, Patty Epperly; grandchildren, Evert III, Jessica Wilkerson, Amy Delcom, Katty and Roonie, and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army.

Arrangements are under the direction of Capitol City Cremation of Carson City, Nev.

Harold 'Jack' Hoover

Memorial services for Harold "Jack" Hoover, 68, of Fairfield will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Masonic Temple, 412 Travis Blvd., Fairfield.

Inurnment will be at Mooreland Cemetery in Mooreland, Ind.

Born Feb. 12, 1929, in Mooreland, Ind., Mr. Hoover died Oct. 3, 1997, at La Mariposa Nursing Center in Fairfield.

Mr. Hoover was a master sergeant in the Air Force. He served from 1949 to 1969, and worked in sheet metal and production control.

After retiring from military service, Mr. Hoover was employed as a correctional officer at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville. He retired in 1985 after 14 years.

He was a member of the Suisun Lodge No. 55, F&AM Scottish Rite, Ben Ali Shrine, Montezuma Shrine Club, Eastern Star, and Suisun and Rio Vista chapters of the Eastern Star. He was a 32nd degree mason.

Mr. Hoover is survived by his wife, Elenora "Ele" of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Tony Jack and Alicia of San Juan Capistrano; grandsons, Eric, Kevin and Scott, all of San Juan Capistrano; sister, Jean Houser of Lorida, Fla., and aunt and uncle, Helen and Don Butler of Mooreland, Ind.

Contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento 95817.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Peggy George

Catholic Prayer Service for Peggy George, 76, of Danville will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Vaca Hills Chapel.

The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly of St. Joseph Church will preside. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Nov. 14, 1920, in Albany, Ms. George died Oct. 4, 1997, after a short illness. She moved to the area 20 years ago.

Ms. George was a butcher, and was known to many as "gramma." She developed many friendships during her long career in poultry.

She is survived by her sons, Jean LeBrun of Redding and Dean Wilson of Redding; daughter, Donna  Johnson of Vacaville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Marion Malacord; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at Vaca Hills Chapel.

Contributions may be made to the Children's Hospital in Oakland.

Milton O. Pyle

Graveside services for Milton O. Pyle, 79, of Franklin, Tenn., will be 2 p.m. today at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born March 10, 1918, in Vacaville, he died Oct. 2, 1997, at his Franklin, Tenn., home of a heart attack.

Mr. Pyle graduated from Vacaville High School in 1936. He entered San Jose State University in 1938, graduating in 1942.

That same year, he entered the U.S. Army Air Corps and was sent to Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, where he was trained in the use of radios.

He married in Boston during World War II.

He later became one of three in his graduating class of 160 at Scott Air Force Base to be selected for specialized one-year training in radar at Harvard University.

After his stint at Harvard, he was sent to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for another six months of radar training.

He later served overseas during World War II in South America, Burma, India, China, Iwo Jima and Okinawa, Japan.

Mr. Pyle retired from the Army Air Corps at the end of the war with the rank of captain.

After the war he worked for the Radio Corporation of America.

Mr. Pyle also worked for the U.S. government on intercontinental ballistic missiles.

He is survived by his wife, Jean of Franklin, Tenn.; sons, Charles of Tucson, Ariz., Milton Jr. of Seattle and Cabot of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter, Cynthia, also of Nashville; brothers, Louis of Susanville and Edlef of Vacaville; and six grandchildren.

Russell Aldridge

A private inurnment will be held for Russell Aldridge, 83, of Vacaville.

Mr. Aldridge died Oct. 5, 1997, in Vacaville after a long illness.

Born June 20, 1914, in  Oklahoma, he moved to Vacaville 21 years ago. He worked as a machinist for Owens-Illinois for 25 years.

Mr. Aldridge enjoyed woodworking. He was a resident of Leisure Town and enjoyed riding his bicycle around the neighborhood.

Mr. Aldridge is survived by his wife, Velma of Vacaville; daughters, Wanda Booker of Tennessee and Janice Clough of Alturas; grandchildren, Colleen Roden, Kristin Clough, Dawn Booker and Kelli Hensley; and sister, Dee Deere of  Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Clough.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Mary Teresa Mitchell

Catholic Prayer Service for Mary Teresa Mitchell, 88, of Vacaville will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

The Rev. David O'Rourke of St. Mary's Church will officiate. Interment will be in  Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Mitchell died Oct. 6, 1997, in her Vacaville home after a long illness.

Born Oct. 4, 1909, in  Pennsylvania, she moved to the area 11 years ago. She worked as a teacher for 20 years, last serving Catholic Prayer Schools. She was a member of the Fairfield Rosary Group.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her daughter-in-law, Dora of Vacaville; grandchildren, Brian of San Leandro, Kevin of Newark and Maureen of Vacaville; great-grandchildren, Natasha of Big Spring,  Texas, and Mariah Leigh Sparkman of Vacaville.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.
