Charles Cecil Neal Jr.

No funeral services will be held for Charles Cecil Neal Jr., 73, of Vacaville.

Inurnment will be private.

Born March 16, 1924, in South Charleston, W.Va., he died Oct. 25, 1997, in his Vacaville home after a long illness.

He had lived in Vacaville 30 years and was an Air Force flight engineer for 26 years. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 165 in Vacaville, and Am-Vets of Vacaville; Masonic Lodge 134 and Ben Ali's Shriners of Montezuma, also in Vacaville.

Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, Dolores; daughter, Lisa Phillips of Sacramento; sister, Juanita Cook of Winfield, W.Va.; grandson, Chad Wilson of Vacaville and great-grandson, Alexander Wilson of Vacaville.

A memorial contribution may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital for Crippled Children, Northern California Unit, P.O. Box 21-4477, Sacramento 95821-0477.

Douglas H. Casey

A private memorial service will be held for Douglas H. Casey, 82, of Suisun City.

Inurnment will be in Butterfield, Minn.

Born May 14, 1915, in Mountain Lake, Minn., he died Oct. 25, 1997, in Fairfield after a long illness.

Mr. Casey lived in the Suisun area for 10 years.

He attended the University of Minnesota and worked 15 years for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad as a telegrapher.

For six years, he owned Casey's Drive-In restaurant in St. Petersburg, Fla., and for 29 years was a self-employed pharmaceutical field salesman.

Mr. Casey is survived by daughters, Maureen Thompson of Suisun and Pamela Ginnelley of Syracuse, N.Y.; son, Stephen of San Francisco; sisters, Ruth Lloyd of Butterfield, Carol Pfund of Boston and Beverly Brammel of Minneapolis; brother, Roger of Palm Desert; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Harriet Louise Sullivan

Memorial services for Harriet Louise Sullivan, 73, of Vacaville are pending. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Sullivan died Oct. 24, 1997, in VacaValley Hospital after a long illness.

Born Oct. 11, 1924, in Virginia, she moved to the area several years ago. She was a homemaker for more than 33 years.

Mrs. Sullivan enjoyed cooking and being with people.

Mrs. Sullivan is survived by her husband, Lester of Vacaville; son, David W. King of Fairfield; sister, Ruth Arakelin of Turlock; brothers, Earl Brown of Hayward and Hank Brown of West Palm Beach, Fla.; grandchild, Skylar King of Fairfield.

Memorial contributions can be made to The Presbyterian Home, 150 Linden Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24053.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Robert F. Ruiz

A memorial service for Robert F. Ruiz, 58, of Vacaville will be held at 1 p.m. today in McCune Garden Chapel.

The Rev. Shawn Mossman of Charity Baptist Church in Colusa will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born Dec. 8, 1938, in Manila, Philippine Islands, Mr. Ruiz died Oct. 25, 1997, in Concord after a sudden illness. He had lived in Vacaville 30 years.

He worked as a mechanic for United Airlines in San Francisco for 30 years.

Mr. Ruiz is survived by his wife, Belen; sons, David of Vacaville and Michael of Sacramento; daughter and son-in-law, Melisa and Mathew Mossman of Vacaville, and grandsons, Bradley and Devin of Vacaville.

Visitation was 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Solano LTC Ombudsman, c/o Area Agency on Aging, 601 Sacramento St., Suite 1401, Vallejo 94590.

Leona Pearl Palmerlee Rude

A memorial service for Leona Pearl Palmerlee Rude, 80, of Vallejo was Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Vallejo.

The Rev. Craig Paterson officiated. Burial was in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery.

Born Sept. 22, 1917, in Ashland, Ore., Mrs. Rude died Oct. 25, 1997, at home, after suffering several strokes over the last 15 months.

She grew up in North Sacramento and graduated from Grant Union High School in 1934. She received her associate's degree from Sacramento Junior College in 1936 and she received her bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, from Chico State College in 1939. She received her teaching credential from College of the Pacific in 1941.

Mrs. Rude taught elementary school for several years in North Fork. She moved to Vallejo in 1948, when she and her husband began constructing their new home there, where they lived since 1949.

Mrs. Rude is survived by her son, Thomas of Vallejo; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Patricia of Prather, and Dennis and Dolly of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and James Henry of Vacaville; stepson and wife, Vernon and Nancy Adams of Los Angeles; grandsons, Kevin, Donald, Patrick, Lawrence, Gerald II, Timothy Rude and Michael and Gregory Henry; step-granddaughters, Debra Clune, Annette Snow and Terry Oye; and two step-great-granddaughters.

She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon, in 1996; son, Donald in 1975; parents, Henry Seward Palmerlee and Grace Cynthia Candell Palmerlee; sister, Enid Palmerlee; and brother, Charles Palmerlee.

Contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Kaiser Hospice.

Arrangements are by Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, Vallejo.

Diane T. Buckley

A memorial service for Diane T. Buckley, 41, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. John Hood will preside. Inurnment will be private.

Born Nov. 8, 1955, in Wiesbaden, Germany, Mrs. Buckley died Oct. 28, 1997, at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base after a short illness.

She lived in Fairfield for 14 years. She had previously lived in the Bay Area from 1963 to 1983.

She was a homemaker all of her adult life.

Mrs. Buckley is survived by her husband, Daniel of Fairfield; daughters, Jaime Vaughan and Tracie Vaughan, both of Fairfield; sons, Frank Vaughan and Matthew Buckley, both of Fairfield; mother and stepfather, Gertrud and Andy Anderson of Weaverville; brothers, John Turner and Thomas Turner, both of Fairfield; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Jake Tapia of Florida; sister, Susan Arends of  Texas; grandson, Bryce Egan of Fairfield; and numerous stepbrothers and stepsisters, nieces and nephews.

Wallace James Downhill

Upon his request, there will be no services for Wallace James Downhill, 82, of Vacaville.

Burial will be private at North Meadows Cemetery in Greenfield, Mass.

Born Nov. 12, 1914, in New Bedford, Mass., Mr. Downhill died Oct. 29, 1997, at his Vacaville home after a long illness.

He was a veterinarian from 1943 to 1977 in Northhampton, Mass., and had attended the American International College and the University of  Pennsylvania. He moved to the area in May 1995.

Mr. Downhill is survived by his daughter, Susan of Vacaville; son, James of Plainsville, Mass.; sisters, Alice and Fanny; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada, in 1988; and brother, Owen.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Kenneth Robert Ehmke

Graveside services for Kenneth Robert Ehmke, 61, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Monday at Rockville Cemetery, 4219 Suisun Valley Road.

The Rev. Martin Bergstrom of Trinity Lutheran Church will preside.

Born July 30, 1936, in Sacramento, Mr. Ehmke died Oct. 28, 1997, at home after a brief illness. He lived in Fairfield for 25 years and had lived in Napa until 1972.

Mr. Ehmke worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, serving his apprenticeship and retiring as a radiological control supervisor after 23 years. He was sports-minded and loved fishing.

Mr. Ehmke is survived by his wife, Voneta of Fairfield; daughters, Elaine Kimball of Nashville, Tenn., and Diana of Fairfield; son, Michael of Fairfield; brothers, Jerry of Glendora and Robert of  Washington; granddaughter, Jessica Isberg of Fairfield; and grandson, Sammy Kimball of Nashville, Tenn.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Nicholas James Giromini

Memorial services for Nicholas James Giromini, 25, of Petaluma will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary at Magnolia Avenue and Keokuk Street in Petaluma.

Born in Greenbrae, Mr. Giromini died in an accident Oct. 27, 1997, at Mount Rainier in Tacoma, Wash.

He worked for five years as a residential painter. He went to school in Petaluma and Vacaville. Also, he was an outdoorsman, riding a mountain bike from Bodega Bay to Stanton Island, N.Y.

Mr. Giromini is survived by his parents, Tony of Modesto and Joyce Cooper of North Carolina; brother, Joe of San Rafael; grandparents, Philip and Lucille Harris of Petaluma; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Antonio L. Mazzon

Funeral services for Antonio L. Mazzon, 83, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Civic Center Chapel of Wilson and Kratzer Mortuaries, 24th Street at Barrett Avenue in Richmond.

Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in San Pablo. The Rev. Larry Byrne will preside.

Born Nov. 3, 1913, in Cavaso Del Tomba, Italy, Mr. Mazzon died Oct. 27, 1997, at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield.

Mr. Mazzon immigrated to the United States with his parents, Guisto and Maria, and his sister in 1923, residing first in Algoma, Ore.

In 1942, Mr. Mazzon married Rose Giovanetti of Richmond, who died in 1993. Mr. Mazzon and members of his family operated the Contra Costa Ravioli Factory during World War II.

The business was sold in 1946, when Mr. Mazzon and his wife moved to Smartsville where he was employed with Beale Air Force Base. He was later transferred to the Travis Air Force Base maintenance department, retiring in 1978.

Mr. Mazzon made his home in Vacaville for more than 35 years.

He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, travel-trailer camping and fishing on the Klamath River, Hat Creek and other areas with his close friends.

He was an ardent rockhound for many years, traveling the western states to collect specimens.

Mr. Mazzon is survived by his sisters, Luigina Paulazzo of Richmond; Priscilla ``Dina" Madden of Napa; and Lina Carmagnola of El Cerrito; brothers-in-law, Wayne Madden and Frank Carmagnola; sister-in-law, Mary Brown of El Sobrante; nephew, Gilbert Paulazzo and his wife, Judy, of San Mateo; nieces, Priscilla Vitzthum of Richmond, Arleen and husband, Frank Zwetsloot, Louise Utter of Napa, Corinne and husband, Michael Tallman of Napa, Karen and husband Michael Leroy of Richmond, Annette and husband Jerry Grimm of Seattle, Doreen Byrd of Pinole, Shirley Zierke and Joanne La Torre; nephew, Gary Giovadetti; cousins, Elsa Luchini of Sacramento and Justin Mazzon of San Francisco; and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Visitation will be noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the mortuary.
