John V. Yolo

A Mass of the Resurrection for John V. Yolo, 85, of Vacaville will be noon Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Dixon.

The Rev. Maurice O'Brien of St. Peter's will preside. Burial will be in the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery. A rosary will be 7 tonight at St. Peter's.

Born March 24, 1912, in Vacaville, Mr. Yolo died Oct. 29, 1997, at his family home on Meridian Road.

A resident of Vacaville all his life, Mr. Yolo attended Owen School and graduated from Vacaville High School with the class of 1930.

He engaged in the dairy business and with his late brother Joseph started the first Grade A dairy in Solano County with a herd of Holstein cattle.

Milk was sold to Vaca Rancho in Elmira which later became the Vacaville Creamery.

Mr. Yolo was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. He was also a lifelong member of the California Farm Bureau, and was a member of the Vacaville Grange for 50-plus years.

He retired from the dairy business in 1957 and leased the acreage to local growers. He then devoted his time to gardening and was delighted to give his produce to family members and friends.

Mr. Yolo is survived by his sister, Lena; nieces, Patricia Nulk and Margaret Ingram of Sacramento and their families.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Emma Fox.

Contributions may be made to the North Bay Hospice or St. Peter's Church in Dixon.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Beatrice Gomez

Funeral services for Beatrice Gomez, 68, of Fairfield will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 2700 Dover Ave. in Fairfield.

The Rev. Neal McNanna will officiate the ceremonies. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield cemetery.

Born June 5, 1929, in Santa Barbara, Gomez died Oct. 27, 1997, in Fairfield after a short illness.

A resident of Fairfield for 28 years, Mrs. Gomez worked at Solano Community College and was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sons Martin, Frederick and Bernard, all of Rancho Cordova, Chris of Phoenix, Greg of Woodland, and Andrew of Suisun; daughter, Cynthia of Rancho Cordova; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W.  Texas St. in Fairfield.

Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to her church's building fund, 2700 Dover Ave., Fairfield 94533.

Raymond A. Taie

Memorial services for Raymond A. Taie, 66, of Vallejo will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Skyview Garden Chapel, 200 Rollingwood Drive in Vallejo.

Sidney Wright will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born Nov. 21, 1930, in Detroit, he died Oct. 24, 1997, at St. Helena Hospital after a brief illness.

A resident of Vacaville for 28 years and of Vallejo for the past 12 years, Mr. Taie owned and operated Taie's Inn Fish and Chips in Vallejo for 18 years.

He was also a driver for the Solano County Economic Office Council, where he helped the handicap for five years.

He served as an Air Force Flight Chief in the Korean War. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge, the Sons of Norway and the Vallejo Model Railroad Club.

Mr. Taie is survived by his daughter, Michelle Burton of Vallejo; mother, Lillian Dietrich of South Haven, Mich.; sister, Elaine Layne of Medford, N.J.; brother, Melvin of Tracy; and granddaughter, April Burton of Waukegan, Ill.

Memorial contributions can be made to the 1st Pacific Federal Credit Union, Account No. 9119747, 536 Santa Clara St., Vallejo 94590.

Eric 'Cas' Antonio Williams II

Funeral services for Eric "Cas" Antonio Williams II, 23, of Vallejo will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

The Rev. Leonard Clayton Jr. of Clayton Memorial Church of God in Christ will preside. Inurnment will be private.

Born Aug. 1, 1974, in Vallejo, Mr. Williams died Oct. 25, 1997, at NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.

He attended local Fairfield schools and graduated from Fairfield High School. He later graduated from Kenneth's Cosmetology in 1994 and worked at various hair design salons throughout Solano County and the Bay Area.

He enjoyed baseball games with his father, as well as dancing, singing, modeling and entertaining the family.

Mr. Williams is survived by his mother, Deborah of Fairfield; father, Eric of Vallejo; grandparents, Jean Ogles of Vallejo, Robert Williams of Fairfield, and Annie Mae  Jones of Suisun City; sisters, Shamaiya and Rineshe, both of Fairfield; brothers, Donyell, Julius, Ricky and Charles, all of Fairfield; and niece, Danyell of Vallejo.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Mary Louise Hampton

Funeral services for Mary Louise Hampton, 58, of Vacaville will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Vacaville's St. Matthew's Baptist Church.

The Rev. Nathaniel Bragg will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born June 26, 1939 in  Texas, Mrs. Hampton died Oct. 29, 1997, at VacaValley Hospital after a long illness.

A resident of Vacaville for the past three decades, Mrs. Hampton was a homemaker for 40 years. She was also a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church Choir and Missionaries.

She is survived by her sons, Ira and Clark, both of Vacaville and Tony of Stockton; aunt, Alberta Lewis of Fairfield; grandchildren, Keeton of Vacaville and Zachary and Joshua, both of Stockton.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Diabetes Association.

Billy Rohrer

Funeral services for Billy Rohrer, 63, of Vacaville will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W.  Texas, St., Fairfield.

Father John O'Neill of Novato's Our Lady of Loretta Church will officiate. Inurnment will be private at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.

Born March 9, 1934 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, he died Oct. 31, 1997, at home after a long illness.

A resident of Vacaville for 12 years, Mr. Rohrer worked for the California Department of Corrections for 23 years as a correctional officer. He was stationed at San Quentin State Prison for 17 years, Sierra Conservation Center for four years and California Medical Facility for two years.

He retired as a correctional lieutenant in 1988, but rejoined the work force last year as a retired annuitant.

Mr. Rohrer graduated from Paso Robles High School and attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo for two years on a football scholarship. Stationed in Germany, he then spent two years in the United States Army.

He was a member of the Leisure Town Men's Golf Club and the Green Tree Men's Golf Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He was a wood craftsman and a golf and gun refinisher.

Mr. Rohrer is survived by his wife, Joy of Vacaville; mother-in-law, Beryl Parker of Vacaville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jackie and Bill Hampton of Suisun and Claudia and Cliff Knudsen of Colorado Springs,  Colo.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Leigh Parker of El Paso,  Texas; 19 nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kaiser Hospice, 975 Sereno Dr., Vallejo CA 94589.

Col. William J. Thalberg

Graveside services for Col. William J. Thalberg, 59, of Brentwood, Tenn., will be at 9 a.m. today at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

Mr. Thalberg died Oct. 28, 1997.

His family received friends on Sunday at the Brentwood Funeral Home in Brentwood, Tenn.

He is survived by his wife, Yoshi, of Brentwood, Tenn.

Melvin Talovic

Funeral services for Melvin Talovic, 80, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Vaca Valley Christian Life Center.

The Rev. David Crone will preside. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born March 24, 1917, in Beach Bottom, W.Va., Mr. Talovic died Nov. 3, 1997, at VacaValley Hospital after a sudden illness. Mr. Talovic was an electronics materials handler for Varian Associates for 24 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was a member of S.I.R.S. & Leisure Town Mens Club, and he enjoyed golf.

Mr. Talovic is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Vacaville; sons, Gary of San Jose and David of San Carlos; daughter, Sharon Garland of Malibu; brothers, Nick of San Mateo, Bob of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Rudy of Windsor Heights, W.Va.; sister, Anna Caukausky of Donald, Pa.; grandchildren, Alyssa and Michael, both of San Jose, Rex Garland of Malibu and Devon of San Carlos.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Shirley Ann Sainz

Funeral services for Shirley Ann Sainz, 52, of San Francisco will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

The Rev. Richard Osby of Light House Community Church in San Jose will preside. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Sept. 24, 1945, in San Francisco, Mrs. Sainz died Nov. 4, 1997, at NorthBay Medical Center after a long illness.

She worked for the Veterans Hospital in San Jose for 12 years. She lived in Fairfield for two years.

Mrs. Sainz is survived by her husband, Jesse Williams of Fairfield; daughters, Bridgette of Fairfield and Roziland Blue of San Jose; sons, Ricarido, De Andre Domino and Thomas Roundtree III, all of Fairfield; brother, Thomas Roundtree Jr. of San Jose; mother, Ruby Roundtree of Fairfield; and 13 grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Jeremiah Alvarez-English

A memorial service for Jeremiah Alvarez-English, 17, of Vacaville will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center in Vacaville.

Bishop Dan Walberg of the church will officiate. Burial will be in Las Cruces, N.M.

Born Jan. 17, 1980, in San Antonio, he died Nov. 2, 1997, of stab wounds in VacaValley Hospital.

He lived in Vacaville three years.

A former Vanden High School student, he was an athlete who enjoyed baseball and collecting baseball cards. He had been a recreation leader for more than 40 children for the city of Albuquerque, N.M., summer program.

He had also been an apprentice carpenter learning building skills. He loved children and animals.

Mr. Alvarez-English is survived by his parents, Richard and Marty of Vacaville; sister, Jennifer of Vacaville; grandparents, Juan and Eliza Alvarez and Marybelle English, all of Las Cruces; aunts, Cheryl Maxham of Alameda, Eva Truillo of Albuquerque, and Mary Ellen Telles and Eloisa Chavez, both of Las Cruces; uncle, Robert of San Francisco; and 10 cousins.

Visitation will be private.

Arrangements are handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.
