Herb Tappin

Services for Herb Tappin, 57, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

The Rev. William Hausler of Trinity Christian Center will officiate. Burial will be in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born March 28, 1940, in San Francisco, Mr. Tappin died Nov. 11, 1997, after a sudden illness.

He worked as an associate distribution engineer for Pacific Gas & Electric Co. for 31 years.

He also coached children's basketball and baseball, and loved to fish.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Sharon; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Charlie Wyatt; grandchildren, Alec, Stefen and Jordan Tappin and Zachary and Emily Wyatt; mother-in-law, Betty High; brothers, Harry and Herman; and sisters, Karen and Carolyn.

Visitations were Thursday.

George Leonard Koehler

George Leonard Koehler, 77, of Vacaville, died at his Vacaville home on Nov. 12, 1997.

At his request, there will be no formal services.

Mr. Koehler had a distinguished Air Force career, serving for 20 years.

He was a decorated pilot in the Pacific during World War II and retired as a lieutenant colonel. He was also a retired state employee.

He was an avid fisherman and an animal lover. He also volunteered for the Travis Air Force Base Museum and the David Grant Medical Center pharmacy.

Mr. Koehler is survived by his wife, Yoko; children, Nancy, Linda, Debra and Michael Koehler; and his brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Mary Lou Koehler.

Contributions can be made to the NorthBay Hospice, 1200 B. Gale Wilson Blvd., Fairfield 95433; or the SPCA Haven of Solano County, P.O. Box 356, Vacaville 95696.

Arrangements are by Neptune Society of Northern California in Sacramento.

James Kay Jeppson

Memorial services for James Kay Jeppson, 42, of Vacaville will be 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 311 Alamo Drive, Vacaville.

Bishop Robert Stewart will officiate.

A funeral service was conducted Nov. 14, 1997, in Rexburg, Idaho.

Born March 3, 1955, in  Texas, Mr. Jeppson died Nov. 8, 1997, in Monterey after a scuba diving accident.

Mr. Jeppson moved to Vacaville in 1982 and worked as a contractor. He was active in scouting with the Explorer Scouts, and also was involved with youth sports, his church, and a scuba group. He coached youth sports, including baseball, soccer and roller hockey teams. He also worked with the handicapped children's baseball team, the Challengers. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.

Mr. Jeppson is survived by his wife, Mindy; and sons, Trenton, Ty, Colter, and Britton, all of Vacaville.

The family requests donations to a trust fund set up for the children at First Northern Bank of Dixon, 661 Elmira Road, Vacaville 95687.

Alice Jean McDonald

A Mass of Resurrection for Alice Jean McDonald, 70, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville.

The Rev. Benedict DeLeon will officiate. There will be a private burial.

Mrs. McDonald died Nov. 13, 1997, in her Vacaville home after a long illness.

Born May 30, 1927, in Boston, Mrs. McDonald lived in Vacaville for 40 years.

Mrs. McDonald graduated in 1945 from Devilbis High School in Toledo, Ohio, and from St. Mary's College of Nursing in San Francisco in 1949.

Mrs. McDonald was a homemaker all her adult life. She also was the founder of the Vacaville Olde Tyme Melodrama Troupe, and wrote and directed numerous melodramas. She was a published playwright.

She was a member of the Mini Fantasies Miniature Club of Vacaville and was an avid doll collector. She enjoyed dollhouse miniatures and potpourri preparations.

She was a member of Upper Solano Association of Retarded Children.

Mrs. McDonald is survived by her husband, Raymond of Vacaville; sons, David and Gregory, both of Vacaville, Hugh of Santa Cruz and Douglas of Santa Clara; daughters, Barbara Stewart and Mary, both of Portland, Ore., and Claire Crain of Kansas City, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Nadeau Funeral Home, 180 E. Monte Vista Ave., with a Rosary at 8 p.m.

Arrangements are by Nadeau Family Funeral Home in Vacaville.

Ronald Hawley Thompson

Funeral services for Ronald Hawley Thompson, 53, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Monday in Nadeau Family Funeral Home in Vacaville.

The Rev. Vic Matson of Community United Methodist Church in Fairfield will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Thompson died Nov. 13, 1997, in VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville after a short illness.

Born April 29, 1944, in Los Angeles, Mr. Thompson lived in Vacaville for five years.

Mr. Thompson was an ironworker for 15 years, last employed by the Golden Gate Bridge. He was a member of the Ironworkers Union of San Francisco. He was an avid history buff and historian of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, LaVerne of Vacaville; stepdaughter, Stacey Thomas of Los Angeles; stepson, Derek Thomas of San Diego; brothers, Kent of Vacaville and Richard of St. Peters, Mo.; and stepsister, Catherine Losch of San Diego.

Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Russell 'Rusty' Thomas Walls

Funeral services for Russell "Rusty" Thomas Walls, 44, of Winters will be 11 a.m. Monday in Skyview Funeral Chapel, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo.

The Rev. Rick Powers of Hillcrest Community Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial will be in Skyview Memorial Lawn.

Mr. Walls died Nov. 13, 1997, at his home after a long illness.

Born Jan. 9, 1953, in Bakers-field, Mr. Walls lived in Vallejo for three years before moving to Winters 14 years ago.

Mr. Walls attended Napa schools and was in the Marines for three years.

He was an ironworker for Local No. 378 in Benicia for 20 years and a rodeo stock contractor for 13 years. Mr. Walls realized his dreams by becoming a rodeo clown, stock contractor and rodeo producer. He was a member of the Rodeo Cowboys Association for 15 years and in 1980 was Bull-fighter of the Year.

Mr. Walls is survived by his wife, Carol of Winters; daughter, Kara of Winters; sons, Russell Walls II of Winters and Shawn of Los Angeles; stepson, Cameron Burrows of  Oklahoma; mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Nino Airoldi of Vallejo; grandmother, Katherine  Taylor of Bakers-field; sister, Judy Farsaie of Rockville, Md.; brothers, Bill of Bremerton, Wash., and Michael of Siverdale, Wash.; and stepbrothers, Rick Airoldi of Vacaville and Mitch Airoldi of Bremerton, Wash.

Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. today in Skyview Funeral Chapel.

Robert Irvin Wilson

Funeral services for Robert Irvin Wilson, 85, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Monday in McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

The Rev. Milton Steck of Trinity Baptist Church in Vacaville will officiate. Private burial will be in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Wilson died Nov. 13, 1997, in his Vacaville home after a long illness.

Born March 27, 1912, in Maud, Okla., Mr. Wilson lived in Vacaville for the past 45 years.

Mr. Wilson worked for 30 years as an airplane mechanic in the civil service at Travis Air Force Base.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Lester of Vacaville; daughters, Linda Cappel and Jo McLain, both of Vacaville; sisters, Hester Wise of Shawnee, Okla., and Lorene Summers of  Oklahoma City; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville.

Memorial contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to the Kaiser Hospice, 975 Sereno Drive, Vallejo 94590.

Barbara Phyllis Donaldson

Barbara Phyllis Donaldson, 83, of Vacaville died Nov. 12, 1997, after a short illness.

Born Sept. 9, 1914, in Newman, she was raised in Winters and attended schools there. She left the area for a number of years to be with her husband during his assignments in the Navy, but had resided in Vacaville for 30 years.

She is survived by her stepson, Robert Donaldson of Arkansas; brother, Hugh Goddard of Winters; and nephews, Fred Manas of Esparto and Dennis Goddard of Sacramento. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil "Don" Donaldson, in 1979.

Private funeral services were held at the Winters Cemetery last week.

Natalie M. Flores

Funeral services for newborn Natalie M. Flores will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Benedict DeLeon will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Natalie was born Nov. 16, 1997, in Vallejo. She died the same day.

She is survived by her father, Luis Flores of Vacaville; mother, Alanna Palacio of Vacaville; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Rachelle Palacio; paternal grandparents, Luis and Katheryn Flores; two aunts; and four uncles.

In memory of Natalie, people should make donations to the charity of their choice.

Viola 'Vi' Winona Hapgood

Funeral services for Viola 'Vi' Winona Hapgood, 51, of Sacramento will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Elk Grove.

Her husband, Jim Hapgood, the funeral director at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield, will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and cryptside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield. Entombment will follow.

Mrs. Hapgood died Nov. 13, 1997, at her Sacramento home after a short illness. She was born July 12, 1946, in Roswell, N.M., and had lived in Sacramento for 46 years.

She was a nurse for 30 years, working in the intensive care and critical care units at Methodist Hospital for 20 years and Mercy San Juan Hospital in Citrus Heights before that. She worked part-time at The Money Store in Sacramento.

Her favorite pastime was traveling with her family and friends, especially taking cruises. She studied classical music at San Jose State University and played as a classical pianist for years.

She is survived by her husband, Jim of Sacramento; daughter, Michelle Hapgood of Sacramento; sisters and brothers-in-law, Faith and Dave Stewart of Scotts Valley and Tanya and Paul Bradley of Clovis; sister, Stedney Phillips of Sacramento; brother, Grant Phillips of Sacramento; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Lonnie and Gloria Phillips of Seattle, Wash., and Darby and Nita Phillips of Yuba City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Hospice Program, 9940 Business Park Drive, Suite 165, Sacramento

Francis Michael Suta III

Funeral services for Francis Michael Suta III, 45, of Vacaville will be at 7 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel. Pastor Scott Brooks of Harvest Church will officiate.

Born Nov. 15, 1952, in Trenton, N.J., he died Nov. 15, 1997, in Vacaville after a long illness.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia Susan of Vacaville; stepson, Shawn Brown of Vacaville; stepdaughter, Staci Smith of Vacaville; stepgrandchildren, Michael Smith, Kassi Smith, McKenzie Capeheart,  Taylor and Kylie Brown, all of Vacaville; sisters, Mary Jo, Nancy Mantuano, Karen Suta and Jane Suta, all of Trenton, N.J.; brother, David Suta of Trenton, N.J.; and mother, Mary Suta of Trenton, N.J.
