Warner 'Alec' Wilson

Memorial services for Warner "Alec" Wilson, 52, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Vaca Hills Chapel in Vacaville.

The Rev. Vic Jenkins of Unity Church of the Valley will officiate.

There will be a private inurnment.

Mr. Wilson died Nov. 29, 1997, in his Vacaville home after a sudden illness.

Born May 23, 1945, in Polson, Mont., Mr. Wilson moved to the area 39 years ago. He was a 1963 Armijo High School graduate.

He was a supervisor-auditor for Napa County for 30 years and a member of the Napa County Employees Union. He enjoyed playing golf.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Mary of Vacaville; sons, Alec of Sacramento and Chad Elsridge of Vacaville; brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Connie of Fairfield; granddaughter, Haley of Sacramento; and nephew, Gordon Roadcap of Sacramento.

Arleen Diane Cole-Price

Funeral services for Arleen Diane Cole-Price, 49, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. today in Harvest Church, Vacaville.

Inurnment was private.

Born July 31, 1948, in Lodi, she died Nov. 27, 1997, at University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento after a short illness.

She lived in Vacaville for 22 years after being raised in Rio Vista, where she graduated from Rio Vista High School and was a member of the Rainbow Girls.

She worked in retail management for several years and enjoyed reading and bingo.

Cole-Price is survived by her daughter, Amanda Perez of Vacaville; father, Harry Cole of Red Bluff; mother, Marilyn Cole of Vacaville; sisters, Jacque Devine and Terri of Arizona, and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by North Sacramento Funeral Home.

Candace Irene Corda

Funeral services for Candace Irene Corda, 4, of Vacaville will be 9:30 a.m. Friday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, Fairfield.

The Rev. Gilbert A. Jensen will officiate.

Burial will be in Rockville Cemetery.

Born Nov. 17, 1993, in Vallejo, she died in Kaiser Medical Center, Oakland, Dec. 2, 1997, after a long illness.

Miss Corda is survived by her mother, Victoria Dawn  Jones of Vacaville; father, Ronald of Green Valley; maternal grandparents, Ona and Robert  Jones of Vacaville; paternal grandparents, Ruth and Roger Corda of Green Valley; aunt and uncle, Wendy and Michael Sheets of Vacaville; uncle, Robert  Jones Jr. of Dixon; maternal great-grandmother, Lucy  Jones of Fairfield, and paternal grandmother, Irene Corda of Vallejo.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today in the funeral home.

A memorial contribution may be made to NorthBay Hospice, 1200-B Gale Wilson Blvd., Fairfield 94533.

Luis R. Cortes Sr.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held for Luis R. Cortes Sr., 77, of Vacaville at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Vacaville.

The Rev. Benedict DeLeon will officiate.

Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Ccemetery.

Born Jan. 20, 1920, in Caimamera, Cuba, he died Dec. 2, 1997 in Vallejo after a long illness.

He lived in Vacaville for 34 years and retired after 25 years with Basic Vegetable Products.

Mr. Cortes is survived by his wife of 52 years, Clarisa; daughters, Millie Harris and Mary P. Cueva of Vacaville; son, Luis Jr. of Vacaville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today in McCune Garden Chapel.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. today in the chapel.

Ingibjorg Johnson

A memorial service for Ingibjorg Johnson, 96, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Saturday in McCune Garden Chapel, Vacaville.

The Rev. Norm Pfotenhauer, a retired Lutheran minister, will officiate.

Burial will be private in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.

Born June 2, 1901, in Reykjavik, Iceland, she died Nov. 28, 1997, in Vacaville after a long illness.

She lived in Vacaville for 40 years and had been a homemaker for 46 years.

 Johnson is survived by a niece, Gundrun Arnason of Punta Gorda, Fla., and special friends, John and Wilma Redmond of Fairfield.

Private inurnment for E. 'Jay' Johnson

E. "Jay" Johnson, 75, a former Vacaville music store owner, died Nov. 21, 1997, in Grass Valley.

At his request, no services were held. Inurnment was private.

Born May 17, 1922, Mr.  Johnson died in Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley, near where he lived since the 1970s.

Mr.  Johnson owned Jay's Music when it was operating on Parker Street in downtown Vacaville. He moved to the Alta Sierra/Grass Valley area after selling his Vacaville business to Bill and Marge Carroll in 1970.

Carroll's TV/Vacaville Music & TV was at its present Merchant Street address when the Carrolls merged operations with Mr.  Johnson in 1968.

Earlier, Bill Carroll, now a Solano County supervisor, had worked about a year as a television technician for Mr. Johnson.

And from the late 1950s to early 1960s, Mr.  Johnson managed Bill Carroll's band, The Impala Six.

Mr.  Johnson enjoyed his family, golf and the Sierra foothills.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mildred; son and daughter-in-law, Denis and MaLinda of Grass Valley; daughter, Linda Miller of Sacramento; mother, Grace, and brother, Romie, both of Grass Valley; sisters, Barbara Sweat and Lois Coatney, also of Grass Valley; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Aid Thrift Shop, 317 S. Auburn St., Grass Valley.

Arrangements were by Hooper and Weaver Mortuary, Nevada City Chapel.

Jennie Louise Talburt

Graveside services for Jennie Louise Talburt, 86, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Concord.

The Rev. Vic Matson of Community United Methodist Church of Fairfield will officiate.

Born Oct. 22, 1911, in Ti, Okla., she died Dec. 2, 1997, in Fairfield after a long illness.

She had been a homemaker for 56 years.

Mrs. Talburt is survived by her daughters, Anna Marie and Clarsia Jean Satchwell, both of Vacaville; brother, Richard Maroon of Wilburton, Okla., and two grandchildren.

A memorial contribution may be made to Alzheimer's Society of Northern California, P.O. Box 1824, Sacramento 95812.

Mearl Eugene Brown

Funeral services for Mearl Eugene Brown, 75, of Dixon will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Jan. 23, 1922, in Udall, Mo., he died Dec. 3, 1997, in VacaValley Hospital after a sudden illness.

The owner and operator of Brown Family Restaurant in Vacaville for 10 years, he also owned and operated several other restaurants during the past 40 years.

He was the past president of the Tennessee Walking Horse Association. He liked to hunt, fish, travel and play cards with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Jean of Dixon; daughter, Sheila Ruzzamenti of Petaluma; sons, Rick of Granite Bay and Jerry of Yuba City; brother, Donald of Vallejo; sisters, Francis Looney of Vallejo and Jessie Laas of Simi Valley; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Penny M. Currier

Funeral services for Penny M. Currier, 34, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fairfield Funeral Home, 1750  Pennsylvania Ave., in Fairfield.

The Rev. Cary Hill of the Living Waters Outreach Ministry will officiate. Burial will follow at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Oct. 12, 1963, in San Francisco, she died Dec. 2, 1997, in the University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento.

A packager for Bey Labs for one year, she enjoyed citizens band radio.

She is survived by her husband, Garry of Fairfield; daughter, Michelle Lipps of Suisun; mother, Betty Bruce of San Pablo; sister, Brenda Hunt of Benicia; brothers, David Lewis of Vallejo, Michael and Manuel Lewis of San Pablo, Donald Lewis of North Dakota; and uncle, Donald Bruce of Vacaville.

Jen Huang

Funeral services for Jen Huang, 86, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W.  Texas St. in Fairfield.

Burial will be in Rockville Cemetery, 4219 Suisun Valley Road, Suisun.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Born March 27, 1911, in Chongmingdao, Jiangsu Province, China, he died Nov. 27, 1997, in Vacaville after a long illness.

Mr. Huang served in the Chinese army for 30 years in charge of the Logistics Department. He retired in 1968. Mr. Huang lived in Cupertino for 17 years before moving to Vacaville where he resided the last six months.

He is survived by his wife, Huai of Vacaville; daughters, Regina Yin of Vacaville and Julie Tuan of Fremont; son, Bill of Florham, N.J.; sisters, Mu Ying and Cui Ying of Jiangsu, China; granddaughters, Mary Liu of Fairfield, Betty Lin of San Mateo, Carol Yin of Vacaville and JoAnn Tuan of Fremont; and grandsons, Allan Tuan of Fremont, Simon of New Jersey and Spencer of New Jersey.

Elizabeth D. Nucera

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated for Elizabeth D. Nucera, 76, of Vacaville at 1 p.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Father Benedict DeLeon will officiate. Interment will follow at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Jan. 31, 1921, in Wilpen, Pa., Mrs. Nucera died Dec. 4, 1997, in VacaValley Hospital after a brief illness.

She had been a resident of Vacaville for the past 14 years. She was a homemaker all her life.

She is survived by her husband, Francis J. of Vacaville; daughter, Lynne Knisely of Vacaville; brother, George Sukel of  Pennsylvania; sister, Anne Burin of  Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home, 180 E. Monte Vista Ave.
