Gary D. Webster

A Mass of Christian Burial for Gary D. Webster, 56, of Vacaville will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Travis Air Force Base Chapel Center.

Chaplain Tim McKenna of Travis Air Force Base will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Webster died Dec. 7, 1997, in NorthBay Hospital in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born Feb.17, 1941, in  Pennsylvania, he moved to the area 20 years ago.

As a master sergeant in the United States Air Force, he served in Puerto Rico, Libya, England and in the United States, including Travis Air Force Base as well as bases in Maine, Indiana and Kansas.

He retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service, then worked for the Department of Defense for the past 10 years in the Western area office of the U.S. Military Traffic Management Command.

A member of St. Michael's Parish at Travis Air Force Base, Mr. Webster received many awards and commendations, including a life decoration for meritorious civilian service and the Superior Civilian Service Award.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Vacaville; sons, Daniel S. Webster of McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey, David S. Webster of Clayton and William E. Webster of Vacaville; mother, Arlene Webster of Dubois, Pa.; brother, Larry D. Webster of Chino; grandson, Nicholas D. Webster of McGuire Air Force Base.

Mr. Webster was preceded in death by his father, Edward.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Vaca Hills Chapel, 524 Elmira Road, in Vacaville.

Memorial contributions can be made to NorthBay Health Care Hospice Program.

Lucille Justine Hibbs

Visitation for Lucille Justine Hibbs, 85, of Fairfield will be 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 West  Texas St., Fairfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate.

A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1050 North  Texas St., Fairfield.

Internment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born May 5, 1912, in Ansonia, Conn., Mrs. Hibbs died Dec. 7, 1997, in Fairfield after a short illness.

During the Great Depression, she worked at various retail stores. During World War II, she worked in the aircraft industry in San Diego.

She later became a homemaker.

She lived in Fairfield for the past 37 years.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Wilson and Marianna Hibbs of Gridley and Jeffrey Hibbs of Fairfield; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Matthew Lewis Gnos

Memorial services for Matthew Lewis Gnos, 34, of Citrus Heights will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Dixon.

Father Maurice O'Brien will officiate. Burial will be at Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon. A reception will follow at the Dixon Moose Lodge.

Mr. Gnos died at Sutter Hospital in Roseville on Dec. 4, 1997, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

Born July 26, 1963, in Woodland, Mr. Gnos worked for California Pavement Maintenance Company in Sacramento for 11 years. He loved fishing with his children, gourmet cooking, working with heavy equipment, driving his '67 Camaro and spending time with his family.

Mr. Gnos is survived by his wife, Kimberly; son, Gregory; daughters, Michaela and Alyssa; father, Josef Lewis Gnos of Dixon; mother and stepfather, Sonnia and Joseph Laurence Belisle of Vacaville; mother-in-law, Merrilyn  Johnson of Sacramento; sisters, Babetta Gnos and Katrina Gardner of Sacramento and Heidi Kuban and Alicia Birchell of Spokane, Wash.; brothers, Josef Eric Gnos and Trisk Belisle of Vacaville; grandmothers, Johanna Gnos of Dixon and Laura Robbins of Sacramento; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Contributions to the Matthew Gnos Memorial Trust for his children can be made at account No. 61157931, First Northern Bank, 661 Elmira Road, Vacaville 95687.

Jarena Wolfskill-Armstrong

Jarena Wolfskill-Armstrong, a descendant of the pioneering Wolfskill family, died Monday after a brief illness.

Born in Suisun Valley in 1893, she was the only daughter and last surviving child of Joseph C. Wolfskill and Mary Blake Wolfskill.

The Wolfskills were one of the first families to settle in Suisun Valley in the 1850s. There is now an annual Wolfskill Holiday Festival celebrating the lineage and commemorating their journey to the West, and well as their struggles to survive and prosper.

In 1920, she married Ernest C. Armstrong and moved to San Francisco. Later, she and her husband returned to Suisun Valley to farm the land inherited from her mother in 1937.

She was a homemaker for more than 40 years. She was also a member of the Solano County Historical Society and the Solano County Farm Bureau.

Mrs. Wolfskill-Armstrong is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Lester Siebe of Suisun Valley.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1959.

Private inurnment for Mrs. Wolfskill-Armstrong will be held in the Wolfskill family plot at Rockville Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Gladys F. Boyer

A Mass of Christian Burial for Gladys F. Boyer, 82, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville.

The Rev. Benedict DeLeon of St. Mary's Catholic Church will preside. Burial will be at St. Dominic Cemetery in Benicia.

Born July 18, 1915, in Estherville, Iowa, Mrs. Boyer died Dec. 10, 1997, at VacaValley Hospital after a short illness.

She was a homemaker for 57 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Parish, Y.L.I., and Autumn Leaves Association.

Mrs. Boyer is survived by her husband, Henry of Vacaville; daughters, Suzanne Board of Rodeo, Sally McNelley of Vacaville, Sara Hansen of Suisun Valley, Sybil Simmons of Vacaville, Rita Sutliff of Winters, and Patricia Harvey of Manteca; sisters, Velma Kincaid of Milford, Iowa, Faye England of Los Angeles and Kathryn Miller of Whittier; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Contributions may be made to the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael, 1500 Grand Ave., San Rafael 94901; or to Notre Dame School, 1781 Marshall Road, Vacaville 95687.

Beatrice C. 'Bea' Brown

Upon her request, there will be no formal services for Beatrice C. "Bea" Brown, 69.

Born March 15, 1928, in San Fernando Valley, Mrs. Brown died Dec. 8, 1997, in Fairfield after a sudden illness.

She was a 26-year resident of Vacaville and a 32-year resident of Solano County. She was a homemaker for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Alberta, Canada. She also was an avid bridge player with her friends in Leisure Town.

Mrs. Brown is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Curtiss and Kerry Brown of Vacaville; and two grandsons.

Idell Kelley

Funeral services for Idell Kelley, 68, of Fairfield will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1651 Sunset Avenue in Fairfield.

Burial will be private. Elder Jeff Bauer will preside.

Born Feb. 17, 1929, in Houston,  Texas, Mrs. Kelley died Dec. 8, 1997, at her home after a long illness.

She worked for the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District for 29 years, and had been working until her death. She lived in Fairfield for 35 years.

Mrs. Kelley is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Larry Brown of Fairfield; son, Ronald Earl Parks of Fairfield; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mary June Peters

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary June Peters, 80, of Vacaville will be 7 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The Rev. Joseph Chinnici, OFM, of Berkeley will preside. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Presidio, San Francisco.

Born June 2, 1917, in Vallejo, Mrs. Peters died Dec. 8, 1997, at her Vacaville home after a long illness. She moved to Vacaville 15 years ago.

She was a homemaker and served as a WAVE in the Navy from 1943 to 1945.

Mrs. Peters is survived by her sister, Janice Hathaway of Long Beach; daughters, Mary Lyons of St. Cloud, Minn., and Joanne Rowlands of Vacaville; sons, Jeffrey of Fort Bragg, Joseph of Olympia, Wash., and Anthony of Santa Rosa; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo.

Contributions may be made to the Mary June Peters Scholarship at the College of St. Benedict, 37 South College Ave., St. Joseph, Minn. 56374.

Florence Lee Roat

Graveside services for Florence Lee Roat, 87, of Anderson were Dec. 2, 1997, at Los Molinos Cemetery. A family member presided.

Mrs. Roat died Nov. 16, 1997, in her home.

Born Dec. 7, 1909, in Harrison, Ark., Mrs. Roat moved to Shasta County in 1989 from Vacaville. She had lived in Vacaville since 1929. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Roat is survived by daughters, Florence Willson of Anderson and Shirley Barbour of Manton; brothers, Eugene Potter of Vina and Ralph Potter of Red Bluff; sister, Faye Kincheloe of Los Molinos; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Contributions may be made to the Northern California Osteoporosis Awareness Group, 3304-48 Shasta Dam Blvd., Shasta 96019.

Arrangements were handled by Anderson's Chapel.

Rodolfo G. Rocha

Funeral services for Rodolfo G. Rocha, 81, of Dixon will be noon Friday at the Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon.

Burial will be in Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon. The Rev. Mejia of the Church of Praise in Dixon will preside.

Born Aug. 24, 1916, in San Antonio,  Texas, Mr. Rocha died Dec. 5, 1997, in Davis after a sudden illness. He worked as a roofer for 30 years before retiring.

Mr. Rocha is survived by his wife, Juanita of Dixon; sons, Jacob, Rudy and Manuel, all of Dixon; daughters, Margarita Casteneda of Dixon and Virginia Rosas of Oakland; daughter, Maria Barrajas of Dixon; sisters, Lupe Castillo of Arizona and Juanita of Arizona; 24 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

Carolyn K. Bennett

Funeral services for Carolyn K. Bennett, 75, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Vaca Hills Chapel in Vacaville.

The Rev. Keith Knauf of Vacaville will preside. Interment will be private in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Dec. 26, 1921, in Ridgeway, Pa., Mrs. Bennett died Dec. 12, 1997, at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center. She moved to the area 25 years ago.

She was a supervisor for the Air Force Commissary for 17 years.

She enjoyed traveling to Reno and Lake Tahoe and playing bingo. She also enjoyed gardening and playing with her great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by her daughters, Carol Rose Cade Buzzard of Columbia, S.C., and Sandee Neese of Fairfield; brothers, Gerald Gaylor of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Robert Georgia of New York; grandchildren, David Leroy Jenness of Virginia, Debra Lynn Lattimore of Chapin, S.C., Danna Louise Kaminer of Lexington, S.C., Robert Eugene Cade of Shadeville, Ohio, and Kimberly Ann Nesse-Ledford of Vacaville; and seven great-grandchildren.
