Ruby M. Wood

Memorial services for Ruby M. Wood, 80, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Vaca Hills Chapel. The Rev. Leo Nelson will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born Jan. 8, 1917, in  Texas, Mrs. Wood died Dec. 30, 1997, in the Fairfield Health Care Center after a long illness.

She moved to Vacaville eight years ago and was a homemaker for over 50 years.

Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband, Albert of Vacaville; son, Kenneth of Vacaville; daughter, Betty of Vacaville; brother, Marlin Major of  Texas; sister, Ruth Crum of Fort Worth,  Texas; grandchildren, Jeffrey of Galt, Cindy of Martinez, Todd of Canoga Park and Lianne of San Ramon; great-grandchildren, Bonnie of Martinez and Lauren and Samantha of Galt.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Willo Mae Woolery

Funeral services for Willo Mae Woolery will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield. Stan Sanderson will preside.

Mrs. Woolery was born Aug. 19, 1921 in Salem, Oregon and died Dec. 28, 1997 at La Mariposa Convalescent Hospital after a long illness. She lived in Fairfield for nine years and in California for 52 years.

Mrs. Woolery enjoyed bowling and fishing. She was an avid reader and loved animals, especially dogs and cats. She was a homemaker for 50 years.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy D. and Mary Lawson of Fairfield; sisters Violet Hoy of Salem and Vivian Embrey of Anaheim; brother L. John Van Lydegraf of Lyons, Ore.; two grandsons and three great-grandaughters.

Her inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1312 Maryland St., Fairfield, Ca 94533.

Timothy Steven Carter

A memorial service for Timothy Steven Carter, 23, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

The Rev. Raleigh Galgan of Valley Evangelical Free Church in Vacaville will preside.

Inurnment will be private.

Born April 22, 1974, in Fairfield, Mr. Carter died Dec. 30, 1997, in Walnut Creek from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He lived in Vacaville all his life.

He worked with his father, Bill, at Bill's Automotive.

Survivors include his son, Zachery of Vacaville; daughter, Katie Morris of Vacaville; father, Bill and stepmother, Elaine of Vacaville; sister, Debbie Carter Davidson of Pittsburg; brothers, Jeffrey and Robert M. of Vacaville; sister-in-law, Patty Carter of Vacaville; two stepbrothers, a niece and two nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of Ruth Bradanini, 290 Fruitvale, Vacaville 95688.

Herman John Meyer

A memorial Mass for Herman John Meyer, 86, of Fairfield will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Sebastian Meyer will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born Nov. 2, 1911, in Ladysmith, Wis., Mr. Meyer died Dec. 31, 1997, at his home after a long illness.

One of six children of a Wisconsin dairy farmer, he began work as a finisher in a furniture factory. To support the World War II effort, he worked at Bodewin'sn Yacht Harbor finishing and painting PT boats.

In 1955 he moved to Santa Clara, working for a painting contractor. In 1965 he received his first contractor's license.

From 1965 to 1982 he was self-employed as the owner of Meyer Painting and Decorating, specializing in custom home and cabinet work. He retired in 1982.

He lived in Cupertino from 1960 to 1993, and in Santa Clara from 1955 to 1960.

Mr. Meyer was a member of the American Paint Contractors Association. He loved gardening and yard work. He also raised parakeets and canaries.

He is survived by his wife, Marion of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, James and Thelma of Fairfield; granddaughters, Janet and Stephanie of Fairfield; and brother, Roman of Ladysmith.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Takham Thammasen

A memorial service for Takham Thammasen, 74, of Fairfield will be noon Sunday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Buddhist priests will preside. Inurnment will be private.

Born July 15, 1923, in Laos, Mrs. Thammasen died Dec. 31, 1997, in Fairfield after a short illness. She lived in Fairfield for four years.

She was a homemaker for 58 years.

Mrs. Thammasen is survived by her sons, Maikong of Denver, Da of Contra Costa, and Paeng of Fairfield; daughter, Nouane Saengchalern of Contra Costa; brother, Napap of Laos; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Benjamin Huerta

A Catholic Prayer of Service for Benjamin Huerta, 86, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

The Rev. Michael Downey of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield will preside. Inurnment will be private at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born July 6, 1911, in Los Angeles, Mr. Huerta died Dec. 31, 1997, at NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness. He lived in Fairfield for 18 years.

Mr. Huerta worked for National Can Company as a shipping supervisor for 43 years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family.

Mr. Huerta is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Dolores and Mike Buchanan of Dublin, and Christina and Merle Lindstrom of Fairfield; and granddaughter, Michele Gray of Fairfield.

Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402.

Ignatius 'Montey' Thomas Monteleone

A memorial mass for Ignatius "Montey" Thomas Monteleone, 86, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Sebastian Meyer will preside. Inurnment will be private.

Born Sept. 22, 1911, in San Francisco, Mr. Monteleone died Dec. 28, 1997, in Fairfield after a long illness. He lived in Fairfield for 18 years.

Mr. Monteleone worked as a supervisor at the U.S. Postal Service, Rincon Annex, San Francisco. He retired in 1969.

He was active in Fairfield Senior Center activities where he was the woodshop supervisor and with his own money bought woodworking tools. He also started the Christmas party for children in the center, and organized trips to Reno.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 3 in San Francisco; and was a scout leader in San Francisco during the 1930s and 1940s. He had been an avid golfer and loved driving powerful cars.

Mr. Monteleone is survived by his daughter, Judy Gross of Tracy; son, Ronald of Rhonert Park; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Edward Simonson

A memorial service for Edward Simonson, 90, of Fairfield will be 3 p.m. Monday at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.

The Rev. Stan Sanderson of the Church of Christ will preside.

Inurnment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born Oct. 3, 1907, in San Francisco, Mr. Simonson died Dec. 27, 1997, in Fairfield after a short illness. He lived in Fairfield for eight years.

Mr. Simonson was a sheet metal worker for World Airways of Oakland for four years. He loved to golf, fish and was an avid baseball fan.

Mr. Simonson is survived by his wife, Eileen of Fairfield; daughter, Shirley Simonson Roesch of Fremont; and son and daughter-in-law, James and Corrine of Hercules.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Paula Marie Zick

Visitation for Paula Marie Zick, 67, of Boulder,  Colo., will be noon to 5 p.m. today at Crist Mortuary in Boulder.

A rosary will be 7 p.m. today at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Boulder. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. The Rev. Herman Jayachandra will officiate.

Born Oct. 25, 1930, in Colorado Springs,  Colo., Mrs. Zick died Jan. 9, 1998, at home from lung cancer.

She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Colorado Springs in 1948. She attended Lorreto Heights College in Denver and graduated as a registered nurse from the Seton School of Nursing in Denver in 1952.

She married Dr. H. Rolan Zick on Feb. 5, 1955, in Denver.

She worked as a registered nurse in Lake Forest, Ill., and Denver's Veterans Administration Hospital. She also worked as a public health nurse in Colorado Springs.

She moved to Boulder from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs in 1980.

She was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, the Boulder Country Club, the Boulder Women's Medical Auxiliary, the Buffaloe Belles and the Flatirons Club. She also was an officer of the Directors Club of the University of Colorado Alumni Association.

She enjoyed golf, bridge, skiing, gardening and family.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. H. Rolan Zick of Boulder; son, Herbert L. Zick of Central Point, Ore.; daughters, Gail Ann Haycock of Vacaville, Sharon K. Richey of Alameda and Carol Corrine Herbstman of Novato; brother, James T. Montgomery of Denver; and nine grandchildren.

Wardell Colbert

Private funeral services will be held for Wardell Colbert, who also went by the name Ahmad Hasan, 51, of Fairfield.

Burial will be in Rollinghills Cemetery in Richmond.

Born Aug. 10, 1946, in Overton,  Texas, Mr. Colbert died Jan. 10, 1998, in Sierra Solano Care Center after a long illness.

He was a Fairfield resident for three years.

Mr. Colbert is survived by sisters, Linda Taylor, Brenda and Dorinda Harris, all of Fremont, and Jeanette of Richmond; brother, Leonard of Fairfield; niece, Jasmine of Fremont, and many other nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care of Fairfield Funeral Home.
