Florence Marie Burkhardt

A Memorial Service for Florence Marie Burkhardt, 81, of Vacaville will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in McCune Garden Chapel.

Jim Hardy will preside. Inurnment will be in Cincinnati.

Mrs. Burkhardt died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, in Fairfield after a sudden illness.

Born March 18, 1916, in Cincinnati, she lived in Vacaville since 1977. She retired from the state of California where she was secretary for the California State Egg Advisory Board.

She was a member of the Vacaville Art League, Vacaville Museum Guild with the North Bay Guild at Vaca Valley since 1977, and had 3,310 hours of volunteer work she started at Intercommunity Hospital currently NorthBay Medical Center and then at Vaca Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Burkhardt enjoyed painting in oils and playing golf.

Mrs. Burkhardt is survived by a daughter, Linda Gleason of Sunsites, Ariz.; son, Jim of Vacaville; granddaughters, Laura  Taylor of Boston, Robin of Walnut Creek, and Adele and Wendy, both of Vacaville; and a grandson, Kyle  Taylor of Sacramento.

Margaret Gylock

A Memorial Service for Margaret Gylock, 74, of Vallejo will be 11:30 a.m. Monday in McCune Garden Chapel.

Pastor LeRoy Gainey of First Baptist Church will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Gylock died Jan. 15, 1998, after a long illness.

Born Aug. 9, 1923, in Missouri, she lived in Vallejo.

Mrs. Gylock is survived by her husband, William of Vallejo; daughters, Margaret Adele Carlsen, Mary Lou Foster, Madeline Carol Earls, all of Vallejo, Linda Sue Riggers of Sacramento, Verna Lee Ariza of Vacaville, and Cheryl Ann Parks of Florida; sons, Richard Lee Parks Jr., James Parks of Nevada and Russell Allen Parks of Oregon; 23 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Shirley Ann Millwater

Private memorial services for Shirley Ann Millwater, 67, of Fairfield will be held in Los Angeles, Colorado and  Texas. Inurnment will be in Brush Prairie, Wash.

Mrs. Millwater died Jan. 11, 1998, at her home after a long illness.

Born June 1, 1930, in Denver, she resided in Fairfield for 35 years. She worked as a Solano County employee as an accountant.

Mrs. Millwater is survived by her cousins, Sheila Marchus of  Jackson and Tommy Clement of Nigeria; nephew, Scott Clement of Colorado; and nieces, Shereen Walter of Huntington Beach and Denise Beaty of  West Virginia.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1652 W.  Texas, Suite 110, Fairfield 94533 or North Bay Hospice, 1200 B. Gale Wilson Blvd., Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

William Waldthaler

Memorial services for William Waldthaler, 80, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fairmont Memorial Park Chapel with full military honors. Inurnment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mr. Waldthaler died Jan. 16, 1998, at home after a long illness.

Born May 5, 1917, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, he moved to Fairfield 42 years ago. He served with the U.S. Air Force for 21 years, retiring in 1963 at Travis Air Force Base as a staff sergeant. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea and served three overseas tours. He worked at Foster Lumber Yard for 10 years until 1972. He and his late wife, Helga, who died in 1995, owned and operated Helga's Figure Salon in Fairfield from 1972 to 1989. He worked as a self-employed carpenter for 17 years, retiring in 1990.

Mr. Waldthaler enjoyed fishing, gardening and was an avid bowler.

Mr. Waldthaler is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Jon Soper of Napa; son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Kerry of Fairfield; sisters, Hilda of San Jose and Helen Boes of San Rafael; and grandchildren, Jonnieann and Zachary Soper of Napa, Kandace and Ken of Fairfield.

Memorial contributions can be made to North Bay Hospice, 1200 B. Gale Wilson Blvd., Fairfield, 94533.

Sharon Kay Mosher

Funeral services for Sharon Kay Mosher, 48, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home in Vacaville.

The Rev. Paul Hom of the First Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born June 2, 1949, in Yankton, S.C., Mrs. Mosher died Jan. 16, 1998, at her home in Vacaville after a brief illness. She lived in Vacaville for the past 11 years.

Mrs. Mosher had been a collection agent employed by such firms as Clorox, Berkeley Pump Company CMX in  Washington state, and several firms in Denver for 15 years.

She particularly enjoyed writing to a pal in the Ukraine.

Mrs. Mosher is survived by her husband, Thomas of Vacaville; daughter, Elizabeth of Vacaville; son, Brice of Vacaville; mother, Louise Valasek of Kenai, Ala.; sister, Janet Scanlon of Vancouver, Wash.; and brother, James Matuszewicz of Mobley, Mo.

Contributions may be made to the Sky Ranch for Boys, Sky Ranch Lane, Sky Ranch, S.D.

Fred L. Plahte

A Masonic memorial service for Fred L. Plahte, 89, of Leisure Town will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Vaca Hills Chapel in Vacaville.

Inurnment was held at Arlington National Cemetery in  Washington, D.C.

Born March 21, 1908, in Denver, Mr. Plahte died Dec. 3, 1997, at Vacaville Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Plahte was educated in Denver and attended the University of Maryland. He served for 38 years in the Artillery Branch of the Army, advancing to the rank of full colonel. He served in the Pacific during World War II and in Korea.

His last command was post commander of Kaiserslautern, Germany. He retired at Fort Hamilton, N.Y., in May 1963, and lived in Vacaville for 34 years. He like world travel and golf.

He was a member of Vacaville Masonic Lodge No. 134, Scottish Rite Consistry in Memphis, Ben Ali Shrine in Sacramento, and Gen. Robert F. Travis Chapter 490 National Sojourners.

Mr. Plahte is survived by his wife, Dolores "Bobbie" of Vacaville, who he met in the 43rd Mobile Army Surgical Hospital and married in June 1956. Other survivors are his son, Fred Jr. of Tacoma, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and John Dent of Cape Coral, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, William and Dorothy of Denver; grandson and wife, John and Mary Dent; great-grandsons, Mike and Doug, both of Alexandria, Va.; nephews, Carl and Warren Magdanz; and niece and nephew, Tom and Marian of Denver.

Contributions may be made to the Shriners' Hospitals for Children in Sacramento.

Mary Catherine Mulz

A memorial service for Mary Catherine Mulz, 70, of Suisun will be 6 p.m. Thursday at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Mulz was born June 5, 1927, in Glendale, Ohio, and died Jan. 16, 1998, in Fairfield.

She lived in Suisun for 12 years. From 1950 until 1971, she worked as a switchboard operator for the El Monte Unified School District. For the next 10 years she worked as a switchboard operator for Allstate Insurance Co. From 1985 until 1988 she was a USARC/Pace instructor.

Mrs. Mulz was active with the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield and the Fairfield Senior Sewing Circle. She loved to travel, crochet and garden.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Riggs of Ventura and Cynthia Junker of Suisun; sons, Larry of Hayward and Anthony of Hesperia; and brothers, Paul Davis of Cucamonga and Jim Davis of Yucca Valley; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Bryan-Braker Funeral Home is at 1850 W.  Texas St. in Fairfield.

Pauline J. Pugh

Pauline J. Pugh, a Fairfield resident for 48 years, died Jan. 17, 1998, at the age of 75. At her request, no formal funeral services will be held.

Mrs. Pugh was born April 25, 1922, in Carolton, Miss. She worked as a dietitian for Fairfield Health Care for 10 years. She also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mrs. Pugh died at Fairfield Health Care after a long illness.

She is survived by a daughter, Pam Smith of Dayton, Nev.; sons Ray, Phil, Steve and Larry, all of Fairfield, Jim of Vacaville and Pat of Los Angeles. She is also survived by seven grandchildren.

Catherine Lucille Brown

Visitation for Catherine Lucille Brown, 77, of Fairfield will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. The Rev. Vic Matson will officiate. Interment will be in the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown died Jan. 17, 1998, in the David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base after a short illness.

Born Aug. 6, 1920, in Bells,  Texas, she lived in Fairfield for the past 52 years. She married Morris J. Brown on Feb. 7, 1930. She worked as a stenographer for the North American Aviation Co. during the early years of World War II. Her husband entered the military and she followed him to several different Air Force bases until 1946, when they settled in Fairfield. She worked for the Waterman Park Housing Office and was later transferred to the Civilian Personnel Office at Travis, where she was promoted to supervisor of administrative services. She retired with 30 years of U.S. civil service in 1972.

She loved traveling, camping, fishing, cooking and gardening. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Suisun Chapter No. 2, the Nite Hawk Seniors, the Westerners RV Club, the American Association of Retired Persons, the NARFE, the Sergeants Association Auxiliary 1320 and the Community United Methodist Church of Fairfield.

She is survived by her husband, Morris J. Brown of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Karin and David Young of Sacramento; grandson, Andrew Young of Sacramento; granddaughter, Angela Collins of Elk Grove.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1652  Texas St., Fairfield 94533.

Frances B. Hurd

A private inurnment will be held for Frances B. Hurd, 74, of Vallejo.

Mrs. Hurd died Jan. 15, 1998, in Vallejo Convalescent Hospital.

Born in January, 1923, in Republic, Pa., she lived in Benicia for 28 years.

Mrs. Hurd is survived by her daughters, Janet Costa of Benicia; Helen and son-in-law Jody Breedwell of Vacaville; two sisters; two brothers; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Louis Hampton Little

Funeral services for Louis Hampton Little, 87, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

The Rev. Eric Walbolt of Shepherd of the Hills Church in Vacaville will officiate.

Interment will be in the Rockville Cemetery.

Mr. Little died in Fairfield on Jan. 18, 1998, after a short illness.

He was born Aug. 28, 1910, in Suisun Valley.

He was a life member of the Fairfield Host Lions Club, having belonged to for 55 years. He was a charter member of Sirs, Tri-City Branch 106 in Fairfield. He was married for 61 years.

He graduated from Rockville Elementary School in 1924 and Armijo High School in 1928. He later graduated from Healds Business College in San Francisco in 1930.

He was a member of the Volunteer Fairfield Fire Department.

He was an avid golfer and loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Marvel May Little of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Dorothy Little of Suisun City; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Robert Waters of Fairfield; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Fairfield Host Lions, P.O. Box 126, Fairfield, or to a favorite charity.
