Raymond Herman Bachman

Funeral services with full military honors for Raymond Herman Bachman, 79, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

A chaplain from Travis Air Force Base will preside. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born March 21, 1918, in Sacramento, Mr. Bachman died Jan. 29, 1998, in Fairfield after a long illness.

He served in the Air Force for 30 years, retiring as a senior master sergeant. He was a flight engineer.

Mr. Bachman was a member of the Veterans Foreign Wars in Vacaville. He lived in Vacaville for 21 years.

He is survived by his wife, Chong of Vacaville; daughter, Kim Tu of Vacaville; and son, William of Massachusetts.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Alfred Charles 'Gordon' Bosanquet

Funeral services for Alfred Charles "Gordon" Bosanquet, 60, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fairfield. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born June 27, 1937, in Port Mac Quarrye, Australia, Mr. Bosanquet died Jan. 28, 1998, in Vacaville after a brief illness. He had lived in Fairfield for a year.

Mr. Bosanquet was as automobile salesman for the Barber Group.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Fairfield; sons, Jonathan of Australia, and Andrew, Nicholas and Dean, all of Fairfield; two sisters of Australia; three brothers of Australia; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. A rosary will be 6 p.m. today.

Amelia 'Mena' Barragan Garcia

A Mass of Christian Burial for Amelia "Mena" Barragan Garcia, 79, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville.

The Rev. Benedict DeLeon will preside. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born July 6, 1918, in Florence, Ariz., Mrs. Garcia died Jan. 29, 1998, from a sudden illness.

She was a homemaker for more than 50 years. She enjoyed being with her family and, especially her grandchildren.

She moved to the area 37 years ago.

Mrs. Garcia is survived by her daughter, Gloria Munoz of Vacaville; son, Raymond "Jerry" Mesa of Vacaville; sisters, Margaret Ortiz of San Jose, Eleanor Castillo of Firebaugh, and Esther Lopez of Napa; brothers, Eddie Barragan of San Diego, and Tony Barragan of Firebaugh; grandchildren, Ernestina and Andrea Munoz, both of Los Angeles, and Manuel Mendez of Monterey; and great-granddaughter, Gabriella Mendez of Monterey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 1995.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Tom Gerken

Funeral services for Tom Gerken, 84, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 360 Portsmouth, Vacaville. Bishop Innes will preside. Burial will be at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Dec. 29, 1913, in Dallas, S.D., Mr. Gerken died Jan. 27, 1998, at the NorthBay Nursing Center in Fairfield after a long battle with cancer. He moved to the area 20 years ago.

Mr. Gerken was drafted to the Army in early 1941 and served in the Aleutians in the Engineers. After his Army service, he worked as a district manager for a life insurance company for 31 years. He also owned several pieces of income property.

After his retirement, Mr. Gerken attended Solano Community College for two years. He took up golf, bowling, pool playing and ballroom dancing. He also enjoyed travel in his trailer to resort areas.

Mr. Gerken was also active in other Leisure Town clubs, serving as president of the Dance Club for two years, and as president of the Theatre Guild for two years.

He later took up writing and at age 83 finished writing his autobiography as well as a collection of short stories.

Mr. Gerken is survived by his wife, Irene of Leisure Town; daughters, Mary and Anne from the Bay Area; two brothers from Southern California; two grandchildren; five stepchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; and 17 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o R. Bradanini, 290 Fruitvale Road, Vacaville 95688.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Gary L. Derr

There will be private services for Gary L. Derr, 51, of Fairfield. Inurnment will be private.

Born Jan. 7, 1947, in Denver, Mr. Derr died Jan. 28, 1998, in Fairfield after a short illness.

Mr. Derr was an industrial mechanic for American Plastic Manufacturing of Benicia for 10 years. He was in the Army for two years.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association, and a 15-year resident of Fairfield. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping.

Mr. Derr is survived by his wife, Sharon of Fairfield; sons, Shawn of Fairfield and Joe Loflin of Fairfield; brothers, Steve of Denver and David of Napa; and grandchildren, Jacob of Fairfield and Christopher Loflin of Sacramento.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Amelia 'Mena' Barragan Garcia

Vicie Agnus Hopper

A funeral service for Vicie Agnus Hopper will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel. Burial will follow at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

The Rev. Douglas Gonzales of Frostburg Church of the Nazarene, Frostburg, Maryland will officiate.

Mrs. Hopper was born in Ada, Okla., on March 10, 1908. She died in Vacaville on Jan. 30, 1998, after a long illness. She was 89.

Mrs. Hopper lived in Vacaville since 1941 and was a 20-year employee at Basic Vegetable. She was a member of the Church of God of North America.

She is survived by daughters, Billie Caldwell of Vacaville, Judy Gregorich of Valley Springs and Jonni Gonzales of Vacaville; sons, Jim of Michigan, Jerry of Arizona, Doyle of Vacaville and Jack of Vacaville. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and her sister, Mary Belle Golden of  Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; and daughters, Joan Lopez, Deon Wareham and Victoria Hopper.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel.

Constance 'Connie' Monson

Funeral services for Constance "Connie" Monson, 80, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2075 Dover Ave., Fairfield.

The Rev. Martin Bergstrom will officiate. Interment will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Sept. 7, 1917, in Sisseton, S.D., Mrs. Monson died Jan. 31, 1998, in Fairfield after a short illness.

A resident of Fairfield for 52 years, she worked for 20 years at Fairfield Motor Inn on West  Texas Street until it closed. She also worked for four years at Sunny Acres Convalescent Home in Fair-field.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active in the Trinity Boutique and R.E. Breakfasts.

Mrs. Monson is survived by her daughters, Lorelee Love of Granite Bay and Evanelle Molde of Santa Rosa; sons, Arlee of Vallejo and Galen of Greeley; sisters, Beth Conova of Fairfield, Margreth Bubak of Fairfield, Delores Rolstad of South Dakota and Marcella Rinas of South Dakota; brother, Leroy Vig of Cerritos; grandchildren, Kristen and Daniel of Colorado, Oliver and Ivana of Vallejo, Kevin Kelly of Pasadena, Treva Kelly of Sacramento, Terry Stowe of Santa Rosa, Diana Stowe of Simi Valley and CandyHousholder of Redwood City; and great-grandchildren, Laua and Hunter Kelly, both of Pasadena, Cassie, Shawn and Tiffany Housholder, all of Redwood City, Cody Stowe of Simi Valley and Jerome Stowe of Santa Rosa.

Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Arrangements are handled by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Franklin H. Rose

A Catholic Prayer Service with full military honors for Franklin H. Rose, 77, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

The Rev. Michael Downey of Holy Spirit Catholic Church will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born May 4, 1920, in Chicago, Mr. Rose died Jan. 31, 1998, in David Grant Medical Center after a long illness.

Mr. Rose lived in Fairfield for 40 years.

He was a retired master sergeant, serving in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 1964. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea and retired from the California Medical Facility in 1975 after 11 years.

Mr. Rose is survived by his wife, Mary of Fairfield; daughters, Marilyn Mendez of Fairfield and Kim Pichardo of Suisun; son, Keith of Lemon Grove; sister, Audrey Gerbac of Huntington Beach; and seven grandchildren.

Arrangements are handled by Fairfield Funeral Home.

Mary Bera

Funeral services for Mary Bera, 82, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Friday at McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

The Rev. Dennis Beatty of Fair Oaks Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Jan. 11, 1916, in San Francisco, Mrs. Bera died Feb. 1, 1998, in Walnut Creek after a long illness.

Mrs. Bera lived in Vacaville for more than 50 years. She was a mother and homemaker for more than 60 years. Her family meant the world to her.

Mrs. Bera is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Del Wyatt of Concord; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Carlotta of Vacaville; sisters, Carment and Rosie of Vacaville; brother, Manuel Ojeda of Vacaville; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sr. and daughter, Mary.
