Sandra Sue Essary

Funeral services for Sandra Sue Essary, 56, of Rockaway Beach, Ore., will be 1 p.m. today at Assembly of God Church, 4997 Olive Hurst Ave.

The Rev. Gary Phillips will preside. Burial will be at Sierra View Memorial Park in Marysville.

Born Oct. 6, 1941, in Michigan, Mrs. Essary died Feb. 28, 1998, in Portland, Ore., after a short illness. She lived in Rockaway Beach for three years.

Mrs. Essary worked for the Marysville Joint Unified School District as a food preparation employee.

She is survived by friend, George Paulson of Rockaway Beach, Ore.; sons and daughters-in-law, Ross and Ann of Fairfield, John and Marie of Marysville, and Steve Paulson of Rockaway Beach; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Dina Bratten; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia and Ralph Patterson, Carolyn Delecroix of Fairfield, Rebecca and Brent Osterkamp of Sacramento; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, aunts, uncles and nephews.

Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. today at Assembly of God Church.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Stanley Charles Fahlstrom

A memorial service for Stanley Charles "Chuck" Fahlstrom, 50, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Holtzman Fraizer will preside. Inurnment will be private.

Born Feb. 24, 1947, in Illinois, Mr. Fahlstrom died Feb. 28, 1998, in Fairfield after a short illness.

Mr. Fahlstrom was a superintendent of construction, supervising commercial development. He worked for 25 years at Cahill Construction in San Francisco.

He was a member of the Carpenters Union 152 in Martinez. He was an avid fan of the 49ers, NASCAR racing, and sailing. He excelled at design and building and wood carving.

Mr. Fahlstrom is survived by his wife, Deborah of Fairfield; sons, Charles and Todd, both of Fairfield; sister, Karin Knowles of Point Richmond; and brother, Robert of Chicago.

Renato Alafriz Quimel

A Mass of Christian burial for Renato Alafriz Quimel, 50, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will preside. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Nov. 28, 1947, in Narvacon, Ilocos Sur, Philippine Islands, Mr. Quimel died March 4, 1998, at Doctor's Medical Center in Pinole after a brief illness. He lived in Fairfield for nine years.

Mr. Quimel graduated from Far Eastern University in Manila. He worked as an accountant in the Philippines until he came to the United States in 1980. He was an accountant for Tenera Inc. in San Francisco for 13 years. His last accounting position was with the city of Hercules in April 1997.

Mr. Quimel is survived by his wife, Yolli of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Ro-anne Quimel Perez and Philipp Perez of Fairfield; son, Ron of Fairfield; mother, Heleodora of Hayward; sisters, Evelyn, Imelda and Cely, all of the Philippines, and Marilyn and Laurie, both of Hayward; brothers, Dominador Jr. of Hayward, and Joven of Philippines; grandson, Anthony Perez of Fairfield; granddaughter, Arraiya Perez of Fairfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today, 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Lyent Chatman Hogue Sr.

Funeral services with military honors for Lyent Chatman Hogue Sr., 62, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. Stephens C.M.E. Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Joseph Davis will preside. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Jan. 11, 1936, in Shelby, N.C., Mr. Hogue died March 3, 1998, at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base after a long illness. Mr. Hogue retired as a technical sergeant in 1975. He served 21 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He also served in civil service at Travis, working in civil engineering for housing maintenance for 10 years, retiring in 1989.

A 26-year Fairfield resident, he was a member of St. Stephens CME Church of Fairfield, Vanden Booster Club, and a past member of the BPOE Tri-City Lodge No. 1662. He was coach and manager of various youth baseball and softball teams.

Mr. Hogue is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Fairfield; daughters, Patricia Maddox and Pandora Maddox of North Carolina, and Deborah Hogue-Joseph and Karen, both of Fairfield; sons, Lyent C. Jr. and William Larry, both of Fairfield; daughters-in-law, Gloria and Jacquie Hawks, both of Fairfield; son-in-law, Franklin D. Jr. of Fairfield; sisters, Gladys C. Purah of New York and Sadie Harris of Fairfield; brothers-in-law, James E. McDowell and Melvin Lee McDowell, both of North Carolina; nieces and nephews; 14 grnadchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Everist 'Virgie' Jensen

Funeral services will be private for Everist "Virgie" Jensen, 85, of Vacaville. Burial will be also be private and held at St. Vincent's Cemetery in Vallejo.

Born April 30, 1912, in Hanford, Mrs. Jensen died March 5, 1998, in Vacaville after a long illness. She was a resident of Vacaville since 1961.

Mrs. Jensen was a registered nurse, but spent the last 59 years as a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Portuguese Fraternal Society.

She is survived by her husband, Willard S. of Vacaville; son, Willard H.; sister, Laura Lewis of Hanford; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Northern California, P.O. Box 1824, Sacramento. Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Friends may call McCune Garden Chapel between 5 and 8 p.m. Monday.

Lyndall Whitney

Graveside services for Lyndall Whitney, 90, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Monday at Napa Valley Memorial Park. It will be officiated by employees of the Salvation Army.

Born Sept. 17, 1907, in Lavern, Minn., Mrs. Whitney died March 4, 1998, in Vacaville.

She worked as a bus driver at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, transporting shipyard workers during World War II. After the war, she was a country club manager in Sacramento and Stockton.

Mrs. Whitney is survived by her daughter, Rollys Foley of Fairfield; grandsons, Michael Foley of Vacaville and Timothy Foley of Pacifica; granddaughters, Elizabeth Heffernan of Fairfield, Lyndall Herford of Dillon,  Colo., and Kathryn Pendley of Tracy; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John.

Mary Lynn Wilkins

Funeral services for Mary Lynn Wilkins, 53, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Monday at Vaca Valley Christian Life Center.

The Rev. David Crone of Vaca Valley Christian Life Center will preside. Burial will be Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Dec. 21, 1944, in Utica, Okla., Mrs. Wilkins died March 5, 1998, at Kaiser Medical Center in Vallejo after a long illness.

She was a retail merchandiser for Ambassador Greeting Cards the past four years. She enjoyed caring for her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and attended Vaca Valley Christian Life Center. She moved to the area 20 years ago.

Mrs. Wilkins is survived by her husband, Loye of Vacaville; daughters, Tammy Lynn Giber and Jennifer Jewel, both of Vacaville; sons, Charles Wayne Melton, Thomas Darrel Melton and Corey Gene, all of Vacaville, and Loye Dale Jr. of Sacramento; sisters, Leona Devore of Arkansas, Mavis Schultz, Inez Johnson, Oleta Lopez, Norma Steele, and Patsy Ann Romeriz, all of California; brothers, Cecil Williamson, Frank Williamson and Gene Williamson, all of California; and 10 grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Howard E. Desplinter

A Catholic Prayer Service for Howard E. Desplinter, 76, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at 1750  Pennsylvania Ave. in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela of Holy Spirit Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at Tulocay Cemetery.

Born Feb. 23, 1922, in Annawan, Ill., Mr. Desplinter died March 5, 1998, at Sunrise Assisted Living of Napa Valley.

He served in the Air Force, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1967 after 27 years. Also, he worked 16 years in civil service as an aircraft maintenance officer at Travis Air Force Base. He retired from civil service in 1984.

He was a command pilot during World War II, Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the Air Force Association.

Mr. Desplinter is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Linda of Napa; sister, Dorothy of Santa Clara; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Jordan in 1995.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fairfield Funeral Home.

George R. Kennedy

Graveside services for former Vacaville resident George R. Kennedy, 77, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Arlington National Cemetery in  Washington, D.C.

Mr. Kennedy died March 1, 1998, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.

Born in Holyoke, Mass., he graduated from Holyoke High School and Boston College. He also lived in Grass Valley and Penn Valley for several years.

He was a retired Army captain and served 23 years in the Army and the Army Air Corps during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam conflict. He retired in 1971.

After retiring, he received two master's degrees at the University of Nevada, Reno. He worked as a security officer at MGM Grand Hotel Casino in Reno for eight years.

He is survived by his wife, Cleo (Spaulding) Kennedy; son, Don Gentino of Carson City, Nev.; daughters, Gail Garrido of Colfax and Carol Gentine Wilson of Penn Valley; sister, Katherine Moriarty of Holyoke; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Jean Spaulding of Vacaville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home of Holyoke and Arlington Funeral Home.

Leonardo Santos Yalong Sr.

A rosary for Leonardo Santos Yalong Sr., 69, of Suisun City will be at 7 p.m. today at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home Chapel in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela of Holy Spirit Catholic Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at a later date at La Funeraria Rizal, 36 I Lopez St., in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila, the Philippine Islands.

Born Jan. 25, 1929, in Mandaluyong, Mr. Yalong died March 8, 1998, in Fairfield after a short illness. He had lived in Suisun City for five years.

He was a self-employed welder in the Philippine Islands.

Mr. Yalong is survived by his wife, Milagros, of Suisun City; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Ricardo Del Rosario of Suisun City; son and daughter-in-law, Leonardo Jr. and Alma of Fairfield; sons, Edgardo, Ronilo, Orlando and Arnaldo, all of the Philippine Islands; daughters, Josephine and Maila, both of the Philippine Islands; 18 grandchildren; and numerous friends and other relatives.

Beverly Jean Bowers

Funeral services for Beverly Jean Bowers, 65, of Fairfield will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette.

Born April 27, 1932, in San Francisco, Ms. Bowers died March 10, 1998, in Fairfield after a long illness.

A resident of Fairfield for 12 years, Ms. Bowers worked in the medical field for 20 years. She worked at Fairfield Medical Group in the business office for 15 years, retiring in August 1996.

She loved gardening, sewing and painting.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Bellato of Cordelia, Jean Schirlls of The Dalles, Ore., and Cindy Hill of La Grande, Ore.; son, Richard Anderson of Fairfield; brothers, Harry of Concord and Bill of  Washington; grandchildren, Christina Schirlls of Cordelia, William Schirlls III of Sacramento, Matthew Schirlls of The Dalles, Brian, Jason and Nicole Hill of La Grande, Josh Anderson of Fairfield; and great-grandson, William Schirlls IV.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield, 1850 W.  Texas St.

Memorial contributions can be made to the NorthBay Hospice, 1201 B. Gale Wilson Blvd. in Fairfield.
