Gordon Alexander MacDonald

Services for Gordon Alexander MacDonald, 77, of Vacaville have been held.

Burial was in Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno.

Born May 15, 1920, in Boston, Mr. MacDonald died March 15, 1998, in the Veterans Affairs Hospital in San Francisco after a short illness.

He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, achieving the rank of sergeant. He moved to Vacaville in 1968 and was the former owner of Vacaville Pool Service and was a member of the Vacaville Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his brother, Rod of San Francisco; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jo and Houston Spicer of Vacaville; sister, Lorraine Forbes of Concord, N.H., and Grace of Boulder,  Colo.; and faithful friends Emory Davis, Phyllis Peters and Bobbie Tubbs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roderick and Ida.

Donald Cancino Ibasan

A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald Cancino Ibasan, 64, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will preside. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Jan. 30, 1934, in Pozorrubio, Pangasinan, the Philippines, Mr. Ibasan died March 24, 1998, at David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base after a brief illness. He lived in Fairfield for seven years.

He retired from the Navy after serving from 1956 to 1976. He worked as a storekeeper during his service in the Navy.

Mr. Ibasan also worked in Saudi Arabia for the U.S. government in supply warehousing.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in the Philippines, U.S. Fleet Reserve Association and American Legion. He enjoyed bowling, basketball, cooking and gardening.

Mr. Ibasan is survived by his wife, Margarita of Fairfield; daughter, Deborah Kelsey of Hong Kong; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Maria of Fairfield; brother, David of Guam; and grandchildren, Deanna and Denise, both of Fairfield.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. A vigil service will be 7 p.m. Monday.

John Lee Cheatham

Memorial services for John Lee Cheatham, 47, of Suisun will be 7 p.m. Tuesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home Chapel, 1850 W.  Texas St., Fairfield.

There will be an inurnment.

The Rev. James Ray of True Love Baptist Church in Fairfield will officiate.

Another service will be Friday at Beals Geake Magliozzi Funeral Home in Medord, Mass.

Mr. Cheatham died March 26, 1998, in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born July 18, 1950, Mr. Cheatham lived in Suisun the past 10 years. He worked with the Boston Ladder Truck No. 16 after graduating from the Boston Fire Academy in 1977, and had worked the past six years as a hazardous materials specialist for Industrial Services.

During his time as a firefighter, Mr. Cheatham was awarded the Roll of Merit for heroism.

Mr. Cheatham was a member of the Nation of Islam, F.O.I. in Temple No. 11 in Dorchester, Mass., was a Vulcan Member of the Black Firefighters Association, a registered emergency technician, a lifetime member of the NAACP, and a member of the Prince Hall Mason.

Mr. Cheatham is survived by his wife, Andrea of Suisun; daughters, Aja Li of Suisun, Valerie Calmelat of southern California, Josephine Laverne of Boston, Mass., and Kyiete Lei of Las Vegas; son, John Cheatham III of Suisun; mother, Hazel of Boston, sisters, Vivian Rome of Fairfield, Brenda Davis of southern California, Joyce of Boston, and Joan Rodriquez of Boston; brother, James of Boston; and two granddaughters.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home Chapel.

Dolly Lind

Private funeral services were held for Dolly Lind, 76, of Vacaville.

Born June 4, 1921, in Montana, Mrs. Lind died March 2, 1998, after a long illness.

She was a homemaker. Mrs. Lind enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading. She also enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lind is survived by his daughter, Arlene Cellucci; son, Donald Butts; sisters, Lilly Hill and Jenny Levy; brother, Frank Lind; grandchildren, Larry, Toni, and Laura; and great-grandchildren, Jacqueline, Michael, Sarah, Jennie, and Tony.

Arrangements were by Hooper and Weaver in Grass Valley.

Hope Inez Lozano

A memorial service for Hope Inez Lozano, 78, of Pittsburg will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel.

Inurnment will by at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch.

Born Jan. 21, 1920, in Mexico City, Mrs. Lozano died March 4, 1998, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Walnut Creek.

She was a cannery worker for 29 years for Western Cannery; and was a member of the Young Ladies Institute and the Catholic Daughters of America.

She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking, painting with oils, and working with ceramics.

Mrs. Lozano is survived by her husband, Robert of Pittsburg; daughters, Bobbette Yvonne Cantrell of Sacramento and Patsy Lennette Stroup of Antioch; son, Ronald of Vacaville; cousins, Frank Gonzales of Antioch and Dolores Zuk of Redlands; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1200 Mount Diablo Blvd, Suite 2, Walnut Creek 94596.

Trinidad Ruiz de Chavez

A memorial Mass for Trinidad "Reina" Ruiz de Chavez, 72, of San Francisco will be 1 p.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

Inurnment will be private.

Born Oct. 6, 1925, in El Paso,  Texas, Mrs. Ruiz de Chavez died March 25, 1998, in Napa after a short illness. She lived in San Francisco for 59 years.

Mrs. Ruiz de Chavez was a member of the Union Spanish Club in San Francisco, and the Senior Citizens Morales Club in South San Francisco.

Mrs. Ruiz de Chavez is survived by her husband, Stanley; daughters, Margarita Contreras of Fremont, Gloria Mora of San Francisco, and Leticia Kauffman of Puyallup, Wash.; sisters, Carmen Tonin of Pleasant Hill, Linda Rios of Stanton, and Gloria Abeytaa of West Covina; brothers, Alfrodo Barrio of Mexico City, Joe Barrio of Vallejo, Jaime Barrio of Idaho, and Willie Pratts of  Louisiana; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Arlene F. Babers

Funeral services for Arlene F. Babers, 74, of Vacaville will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 360 Portsmouth Drive in Vacaville. Bishop Wayne Pedersen will officiate.

Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Babers died March 27, 1998, in her home after a long illness.

Born May 30, 1923, in Mexico, she moved to Vacaville nine years ago.

She was an administrative assistant for the U.S. government for 15 years, and was a member of the Mormon church.

Mrs. Baber is survived by her son, Paul E. of New Iberia, La.; daughter, Michelle Scarlett of Vacaville; sister Leona Martorello of San Jose; and eight grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Portsmouth Drive church.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.

Arrangements are under the direction of Vaca Hills Chapel.

Joseph Louis Cabral

A rosary will be said for Joseph Louis Cabral, 84, of Fairfield at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Rockville Chapel in Rockville.

Sister Elizabeth Curtis of Holy Spirit Catholic Church will officiate.

Interment will be in Rockville Cemetery.

Born Nov. 1, 1913, in Conneaut, Ohio, Mr. Cabral died March 29, 1998, at his Fairfield home.

He was a member of the Teamsters Milk Industry Union No. 226 in San Francisco for 33 years.

He was active in the Catholic Golden Agers in Fairfield. His greatest joy was helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice C. Cabral of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Gordon L. and Andrea Cabral of Eugene, Ore.; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn J. and Tom West of Green Valley; sister, Wilhelmina Alton of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Karen Grunwald, Beth Borgman, Stashia Cabral and Nicholas Cabral; great-grandchildren, Emily, Elias and Jacob Grunwald.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Kaiser Hospice, 975 Sereno Dr., Vallejo, or Meals on Wheels, 1350 Amador St., Vallejo 94590.

Gladys Elaine Clarke

Funeral services for Gladys Elaine Clarke, 81, of Vacaville will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

The Rev. Keith Knauf of Vacaville will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Burial will be in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born June 30, 1916, in San Francisco, Mrs. Clarke died March 29, 1998, in her home after a sudden illness.

She moved to Solano County 59 years ago. She was a bookkeeper for Pacific Hardware for 23 years. She owned Winchells Hardware in Vallejo from the 1940s to the 1960s.

She was a Soroptimist and president of the Parent Teachers Association for many years. She enjoyed cooking and planning family outings.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Willis L. Jr. and Nancy Clarke of San Ramon; daughter, Gladys June Fisher of Rancho Cordova; daughter and son-in-law, Claudia Elaine and Dick St. Pierre of Vacaville; brother, Ed Williams of Calistoga; sister, Elsie Hitchcock of Napa; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, care of Mrs. R. P. Bradanini, 290 Fruitvale Road, Vacaville.

Donald William Dowling

A rosary for Suisun City activist Donald William Dowling, 79, will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate.

Born March 26, 1919, in Fulton, N.Y., Mr. Dowling died March 27, 1998, in Fairfield after a short illness.

He kept a close eye on local governments and also was a strong supporter of Travis Air Force Base.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1941 until 1964. He was stationed in Italy during World War II.

He worked in San Francisco for a short time before joining the Solano County Assessor's Office as an analyst.

He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Dowling of Suisun; sons, Tim Dowling of Fairfield, Gary Dowling of Pope Valley, Terrence Dowling of Macedom, N.Y., and Chris Dowling of Green Valley; daughter, Kathy Dowling of Visalia; brother, Paul Dowling of Watertown, N.Y.; four grandchildren, and numerous aunts, uncles and friends.

Joseph Harris

Graveside services for Joseph Harris, 68, of Hiouchi will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Oak View Memorial Park in Antioch.

Born Sept. 2, 1929, in  Oklahoma, Mr. Harris died March 28, 1998, at his home.

He lived in Vacaville for 29 years and had recently moved to the Crescent City area.

He was a self-employed salesman for window and door products before retiring.

He is survived by his wife, Leona Harris of Crescent City; daughter, Joline Weathers of Green Bay, Wis.; son, Tom Harris of San Diego; brothers, J.C. Harris of Antioch and Eddie Harris of Modesto; sisters, Geraldine Escobar and Geneva Costa of Modesto, Letha Thomas of Antioch and Mamie Jean Pesci of Lavallette, N.J.; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous relatives.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in Stanislaus or Solano counties.

Margaret Blundell Perry

A memorial service for Margaret Blundell Perry, 64, of Fairfield will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Louis Harris of the First Assembly of God in Fairfield will officiate.

Born Aug. 17, 1933, in London, England, Mrs. Perry died March 25, 1998, at the University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento after a short illness.

She lived in Fairfield for 30 years, where she was a homemaker and a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters, Heidi, Latisha and Michelle Perry of Fairfield; sons, Edward Cornick of Fairfield and Lawrence Cornich of Stafford, Va.; mother, Ellen Blundell of London; brothers, Gwyn and John Blundell of London; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Wayne.
