Purl Daryl Benson
Memorial services for Purl Daryl Benson, 85, of Napa will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Fairfield Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. Robert Grove will officiate. Burial will be private at Rockville Cemetery.
Mr. Benson died May 2, 1998, in NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield after a long illness.
Born Nov. 25, 1912, in Lennox, Iowa, he moved to Napa in 1996. He previously lived in Albuquerque, N.M., for 46 years. He worked as an accountant for more than 40 years with many years at Carlson Drywall in Albuquerque.
He was a member of the Ridgecrest Christian Church in Albuquerque for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Knights of Pythian in Albuquerque. He loved horse racing and owned several racehorses.
Mr. Benson is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Linn and Mona of Gordon Valley; sister, Darleen Schofield of Alamo, Texas; grandson, Kevin of Berkeley; and niece, Debbie Nolan of Fairfield.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Louise Catherine Brokenshire
A Mass of Christian Burial for Louise Catherine Brokenshire, 93, of Dixon will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church.
The Rev. Maurice O'Brien will preside. Burial will be at Silveyville Cemetery.
Born Feb. 24, 1905, in Cambria, Mrs. Brokenshire died May 4, 1998, in Dixon after a sudden illness. She lived in Dixon for 55 years.
She worked as a hair stylist for 55 years in Dixon, and owned and operated the Dixon House of Beauty.
She was an active member of the Dixon Senior Citizens, Native Daughters of the Golden West, YLI, and the UPPEC, all in Dixon. She enjoyed making rice pudding and bread.
Mrs. Brokenshire is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Virgil Hood of Sacramento; grandchildren, Ed and Amy Hood of Sacramento, Jim Hood of Sacramento, Lisa and John Wise of Elk Grove, and Cathy Hood of Sacramento; sister, Mary Rocha of Gridley; and brother, Tony Morris of Gridley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.H. Brokenshire.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

Young Chitwood
Funeral services for Young Chitwood, 49, of Suisun will be 11 a.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
The Revs. Hong and Lester will preside. Burial will be at Rockville Cemetery.
Born Oct. 4, 1948, in Korea, Mrs. Chitwood died May 2, 1998, in Sacramento after a brief illness. She lived in Suisun for 12 years.
Mrs. Chitwood was a bartender for six years at the Seagull in Vacaville.
Mrs. Chitwood is survived by her husband, Mike of Suisun; daughter, Leanne Cloud of American Canyon; stepson, Nicholas of Suisun; sisters, Eunice Seo and Hyun-Suk Herman, both of Suisun; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
Jared C. Davis
A memorial service for Jared C. Davis, 65, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Friday at Fairfield Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private.
Born Dec. 29, 1932, in Joplin, Mo., Mr. Davis died May 5, 1998, at his home after a long illness.
He was a flight engineer for the Air Force for 32 years, and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the Vietnam War and retired as a master sergeant.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Christina Baker-Davis of Fairfield; daughters, Marcia Sutton and Carol Ballsmider, both of Anacortes, Wash.; sisters, Ruth Sharp, Dorothy Leathers, Hazel Ewert, Mary Chapman, Barbara Bell and Letha Hubbard, all of Oregon; brothers, Monty of Texas, Ron of Oregon, Johnny of Oregon, and Dan of Fairfield; and four grandchildren.

Roland Hall
Funeral services with full military honors for Roland Hall, 82, of Fairfield will be 3 p.m. today at Grace Episcopal Church, First and Kentucky, Fairfield.
The Rev. John Duncan will officiate. Inurnment will be private.
Mr. Hall died May 1, 1998, from natural causes.
Born June 2, 1915, in New Bedford, Mass., he moved to the area 33 years ago. He graduated from the University of Omaha with a bachelor's degree. In 1936 he graduated from Amherst College with a degree in horticulture. He owned and operated a nursery in Massachusetts for five years.
He retired from the Air Force as a lieutenant colonel in 1969, after serving 30 years. He served in World War II and Korea. He received the Air Force Reserves Medal, AFM 900-3 National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and the Air Force Commendation Medal.
Mr. Hall was a member for 50 years of the Blue Lodge, Marlboro, Mass. A lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans, a member of the Scottish Rite Ben Ali Temple of Oakland, Consistory, Harrisburg, Pa., he was also a member of numerous police organizations.
Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Jane of Fairfield; daughter, Deborah L. Luvisi of Vacaville; son, Gary of Auburn; grandchildren, Jason Hall, Brandon Hall, Alicia Hall, Steve Madore, Scott Luvisi and Dorinda Hiten; and three great-grandchildren.

The Suisun Lodge No. 55 F. & A.M. also will conduct services at the church.

Rose B. Santos
A Mass of the Resurrection for Rose B. Santos, 96, of Vacaville will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville.
The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly of St. Joseph's Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward.
Mrs. Santos died on May 2, 1998, at her home after a long illness.
Born March 29, 1902, in Hilo, Hawaii, she moved to Vacaville six years ago. Mrs. Santos was a homemaker.
Mrs. Santos is survived by her son, Richard of Vacaville; daughters, Lorraine of Vacaville, Barbara Gerlach of Tracy and Marjorie Graige of Anaheim; and 15 grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today with a rosary at 6 p.m. at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home, 180 E. Monte Vista Ave., Vacaville.
Charles B. Stevenson
A memorial service for Charles B. Stevenson, 71, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Friday at McCune Garden Chapel. Inurnment will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Born Aug. 31, 1926, in Tracy, Mr. Stevenson died May 4, 1998, in Vacaville after a sudden illness. He lived in Vacaville the past three years, and had been a resident of Alameda County for 50 years.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was a clerk and manager for Hagstroms Grocery, then later became the representative for the Retail Clerks Union Local No. 870. He also served as vice president of the local union.
Mr. Stevenson is survived by his wife of 51 years, Fernanda of Vacaville; sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Valerie of Fort Bragg and Aldo and Melisa of San Leandro; daughter and son-in-law, Sonia Diane and Carlos Borba of Vacaville; grandchildren, Michael of Roseville, Angela Caoile of Vacaville, Rose of New York, Andria Borba of Vacaville and Veronica of Sonora; great-grandchildren, Meagan and Michaela Stevens of Roseville and Alexander Caoile of Vacaville; brother, Jack of Ceres; sister-in-law, Helen of Sunnyvale; and a niece and nephew.
Trudi Marie Cook
A memorial Mass for Trudi Marie Cook, 37, of Vacaville will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church.
The Rev. Benedict DeLeon will officiate. Inurnment will be private.
Mrs. Cook died May 2, 1998, in the University of California, Davis Medical Center following a long illness.
Born Aug. 30, 1960, in Irvine, Scotland, she moved to Vacaville five years ago. Mrs. Cook was referred to as the "Neighborhood Caretaker." She had been employed at Food-4-Less in Sacramento and Vacaville and most recently by Stir-Fry Restaurant.
Mrs. Cook enjoyed participating in bowling leagues in the past.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband, Phillip Alan Cook of Vacaville; daughter, Rachel Berube of Vacaville; son, Matthew M. Berube of Vacaville; stepson, Craig Cook of Vacaville; stepdaughters, Emily Cook and Sara Cook of Vacaville; mother, Joyce Rudd Martin of Vacaville; father, Ronald Wayne Martin of Gastonia, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Michael A. and Tammy Martin of Gloucester, Va.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lisa A. and Patrick Emmons of Orinda, Bernard and Gabrielle Beaudoin of San Bernardino and Alexandra MacGregor and fiance Stephen Mahrt of Vacaville; brothers-in-law, Eric Cook of Shingle Springs and Cecil Cook of Seattle; aunts, Trudi Foley, Irene Wilson and Dorothy Robertson of Scotland and Julia Drennan of Spain. Mrs. Cook also had many uncles and cousins residing in Spain, Scotland and England.

Willard S. Jensen
Funeral services for Willard S. Jensen, 93, of Vacaville will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at McCune Funeral Home. A member of Masonic Lodge No. 134 will preside.
Burial will follow at St. Vincent's Cemetery
in Vallejo.
Born Jan. 5, 1905, in Salt Lake City, Mr. Jensen died May 4, 1998, in Vacaville after a brief illness. He was a 60-year resident of Solano County and Vacaville.
Mr. Jensen was the owner of Willards Cleaners in Vallejo, with eight outlets from the Bay Area to Vacaville.
He was a member of the Vacaville Lodge No. 134 of the Free and Accepted Masons, and was also a member of the Montezuma Shrine Club of Vacaville. He had recently received his 50-year pin as a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He enjoyed fishing, traveling and the outdoors.
Mr. Jensen is survived by his son, Willard H. of Vacaville; grandsons, Gavin of Mesa, Ariz., Damon of Vacaville, and Ryan of Reno; sisters, Ruth Muzio of South San Francisco and Josephine of Pine; brothers, Gunner of San Leandro, Sam of Richmond.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel.

Mary Grace Coca
A Catholic Prayer Service for Mary Grace Coca, 51, of Fairfield will be noon Saturday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
Interment will be private at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery. The Rev. Sebastian Meyer of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church will officiate.
Born March 16, 1947, in Rocky Ford, Colo., Mrs. Coca lived in Fairfield for nine years. She was a homemaker for the past 30 years.
Mrs. Coca is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nicolette and Brett Hawkins of San Jose; mother, Sarah of Fairfield; sisters, Vera Etter of Fremont, Dilia Floris of Discovery Bay, Phyllis Canavesio of Fairfield and Irene Rodriguez of Fairfield; and brothers, Roger of Hawaii, Art, Tony and Steven, all of Fairfield, and Nievis Jr. of Tacoma.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield.
Edith Brinsfield

Born May 27, 1909, in Mountain Home, Ark., Mrs. Brinsfield died May 6, 1998, in Davis after a brief illness.
She was a 55-year resident of Solano County and lived in Dixon since 1959. She worked for Basic Vegetable for 32 years before retiring.
Mrs. Brinsfield was a member of the Ladies of the Moose in Dixon and belonged to the Teamsters union for 50 years. She loved flower gardening, fishing, travel and was described as a real country girl at heart.
Mrs. Brinsfield is survived by her daughters, Bernice Barnes of Vacaville, Delores Hanson of Placerville, and Joyce Colleen Anders of Vacaville; sons, Arvil Gene of Sacramento, Donald Winford of Berry Creek, and Leroy Junior of Dixon; brother, James Petross of Noble, Okla.; sisters, Cindy McCoy and Wanda Mason, both of Springfield, Texas; 41 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville.

Janice Bera
A memorial services for Janice Bera, 41, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity Baptist Church in Vacaville.

Mrs. Bera died May 8, 1998, in Vacaville, after a long illness.
Born June 20, 1956, in Fairfield, Mrs. Bera was a lifelong Vacaville and Solano County resident. Mrs. Bera was a 1974 Vacaville High School graduate. She had worked for 13 years in the family business as a barber at Barber Joe's in downtown Vacaville.
Mrs. Bera loved dining out, cooking and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Bera is survived by her husband, Steve of Vacaville; daughters, Jessica, Japhia and Jeneya, all of Vacaville; father, Joe Lopez of Vacaville; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Genny Lopez; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Gary Grant; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Greg and Denise Bera; and nine nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Lopez.
