Louise Hendrix

A Mass of Christian Burial for Louise Hendrix, 86, of Vacaville, will be held at 11 a.m. today in St. James Catholic Church in Davis.

The Rev. Dan Looney of the church will officiate.

Entombment will be in Chico Memorial Mausoleum in Chico.

Born June 16, 1911, in Portland, Tenn., she died May 16, 1998, in Woodland Memorial Hospital, after a short illness.

She lived in the Yuba City area 50 years and in Vacaville and Davis one year.

Mrs. Hendrix was a retired teacher and had taught several years in the Live Oak Elementary School in Sutter County. She also was an author of several books, including "Land of Histum Yani."

And she was active in several organizations, including the California Retired Teachers Association, Save the Sutter Buttes Association, of which she was principle founder, the Sierra Club and the Yuba City Women's Club.

She was a charter member of the National Museum for Women in the Arts in  Washington, D.C., based on her work as an author, conservationist, environmentalist and educator.

Mrs. Hendrix is survived by her daughter, Lynette Green of Vacaville; son, Edwin of Davis; grandsons, Nathan of  Washington state, Chris Green of San Francisco, Andrew of Oregon, and Steven Green of Berkeley, and granddaughters, Amy Green of Berkeley and Kathleen of Oregon.

Mrs. Hendrix was preceded in death by her husband Edwin who also was an educator and had been Sutter County Superintendent of Schools for 18 years.

A memorial contribution may be made to the Sutter County Museum, Butte House Road, Yuba City, 95991.

Arrangements are being handled by Vaca Hills Chapel, in Vacaville.

Robert E. Waters

Graveside funeral services for Robert E. Waters of Fairfield will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rockville Cemetery.

The Rev. Eric Walbolt will officiate. Inurnment will be at Rockville Cemetery.

Mr. Waters died May 16, 1998, at Kaiser Medical Center in Vallejo after a short illness.

Born in Ava, Mo., he moved to Fairfield in 1938. He was in the U.S. Army during World War II and he served in Europe. Mr. Waters was a school administrator at Armijo and Fairfield High Schools for the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. He retired in 1987.

He was a president of the Fairfield Teachers Association; chairman of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention commission; and a reserve police officer for Fairfield.

Mr. Waters is survived by his wife Diane; son Craig Robert of Suisun; daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and Joel Orr of Fairfield and Lynn and Marlin  White of Vacaville; brother Russell L. of Escondido; sister Jessie Greene of Gainesville, Ga.; mother-in-law Marvel Little of Fairfield; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wayne and Dorothy Little of Suisun; and four granddaughters.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Mt. Zion Bible School, Route 1, Box 48, Ava, Mo., 65608.

Michael Lee-Anthony Watson

A memorial service for Michael Lee-Anthony Watson, 22, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Emmanuel Faith Tabernacle Church, 5286 Feather River Blvd., Marysville.

The Rev. Archie Webb will officiate. Inurnment will be private under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City.

Mr. Watson, a 1994 graduate of Vanden High School in Vacaville, died May 14, 1998 at Kaiser Permanente hospital in Sacramento.

Born Nov. 15, 1975, in Yuba City, he was a student at California State University, Sacramento. He served as a cadet commandant in the university's ROTC program and was an Air Force pilot selectee.

Cadets from the university's ROTC program plan to participate in Thursday's memorial service.

Mr. Watson is survived by his parents, Vincent and Gwen of San Antonio,  Texas; brother, Joshua of San Antonio; paternal grandparents Richard and Janice of Roy, Wash.; maternal grandfather Garland Hart of Chico; paternal great grandfather Elbert D. Reynolds of Spanaway, Wash.; and praternal great grandmother Margaret Walker-Dixon of San Antonio.

Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Glenna M. Hart, who died May 4, 1998.

A memorial contribution may be made to Emmanuel Faith Tabernacle Church, 5286 Feather River Blvd., Marysville, 95901.

John E. Boric

Services are pending for John E. Boric, 85, of Vacaville.

Born March 15, 1913, in Wheeling, W.Va., Mr. Boric died May 18, 1998, at Vacaville Convalescent Center.

He was retired from the U.S. Army. He and his wife were longtime residents of Leisure Town.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Robert Goodwin of Vacaville; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Boric was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, who died July 15, 1996.

Mr. Boric's body was donated to University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, Body Donation Program.

Mark Warren Johnson

A memorial service for Mark Warren Johnson, 44, of Suisun will be on the afternoon of May 31 at Grizzly Bay Brewing Co. in Suisun City.

Inurnment will be private.

Born May 17, 1953, in Evanston, Ill., Mr.  Johnson died May 15, 1998, in Fairfield.

Raised in Mount Prospect, Ill., he attended school there until his family moved to California in 1968. He lived in Suisun for 30 years.

Mr.  Johnson played violin and piano in grade school and started guitar in high school. He played in jug bands and mariachi bands during his college years at California State University, Chico, and at the University of California, Los Angeles. He studied saxophone, piano, guitar, banjo and theory with George Koith in Denver. He studied with Frank Wakefield and joined the Berkeley Mandolin Ensemble in 1988 and played classical guitar and mandolin.

Mr.  Johnson played with the Fiddle Dusters and Twin Sisters Brothers in Fairfield. He performed with Mother Lode and Miss Freda's Cajun Band from time to time at the Northridge Inn in Nevada City.

Since the early 1980s, he never missed the Bluegrass Festival at the Nevada County Fairground, where he enjoyed playing music with many talented artists into the early-morning hours. He had a day job with Suisun Valley Fruit Growers Association to support his music pursuits.

Mr.  Johnson is survived by his parents, Edwin and Rosemary of Alta Sierra; brothers and sisters-in-law, Erik and Nan of Avon, Ind., and Karl and Vicky of Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Linnea and Neil Kosbab of Port Angeles, Wash.; uncles and aunts, Richard and Phyllis Northam of Indianapolis, Vin and Ellen of Ellenton, Fla., and Joan Parks of Venice, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews; and good friends Larry Ricketts of Vacaville and Carla Dillinger of Sacramento.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Nora Helen Riseling

A memorial Mass for Nora Helen Riseling, 64, of Vacaville will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville.

The Rev. Benedict DeLeon of St. Mary's Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Riseling died Monday, May 18, 1998, in Fairfield after a sudden illness.

Born Feb. 25, 1934, in Santa Fe, N.M., she moved to Vacaville 45 years ago. She worked for 15 years at the Nut Tree Restaurant.

Mrs. Riseling is survived by her daughters, Janice Cervantes of Forest Grove, Ore., and Ilene Lunceford of Vacaville; son-in-law, Gary Lunceford of Vacaville; stepchildren, Lisa Bond of Minnesota, Lyndi Martines and Celia Waldrop, both of Vacaville, and Todd of Fairfield; 16 grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Charles J. Knox

Memorial services for Charles J. Knox, 68, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Travis Air Force Base Chapel Center. Chaplain Maj. Steven Barrett will preside. Inurnment will be private.

Born Dec. 31, 1929, in Albion, Ind., Mr. Knox died May 18, 1998, at David Grant Medical Center after a long illness.

He was an aircraft maintenance technician for 21 years. Before retiring, he served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He had been involved with the Boy Scouts of America and Loyal Order of Moose.

Also, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and recreational vehicle travel with his wife of 41 years.

Mr. Knox is survived by his wife, Ann of Fairfield; daughter, Katherine of Fairfield; and sons, Charles of Oroville and Russell of Fairfield.

Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402.

Arrangements are by Fairfield Funeral Home.

William W. Morris Jr.

Graveside services for William  Washington Morris Jr., 73, of Modesto will be noon Saturday at Rockville Cemetery. The Rev. Stan Sanderson will preside.

Born July 27, 1924, in Parsons, Kan., Mr. Morris died May 18, 1998, at Napa Hospital after a short illness. He had lived in Modesto for 38 years.

Mr. Morris worked for Midstate Construction Corp. as a superintendent, and was a member of the Carpenter's Union.

He served in the Navy and was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Morris is survived by his sons, Mac of Vacaville and John William of Fall River Mills; stepsons, James Glen Oliver of California and Billy Max of  Oklahoma; daughters, Kita Marie Wolfe of McKinleyville and Tanya Ann Daub of San Jose; stepdaughter, Barbara Marie Oliver of Lower Lake; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 105 Astrid Drive, Pleasant Hills 94523.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Bobbie Louia Sparks

Funeral services for Bobbie Louia Sparks, 58, of Green Valley will be 2 p.m. Friday at Nadeau Family Funeral Home, 180 E. Monte Vista Ave., Vacaville.

Interment at Rockville Cemetery in Suisun will be private.

Born Feb. 22, 1940, in Palestine, Ark., he died May 19, 1998, at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield.

Mr. Sparks had been a resident of Green Valley for 22 years. He served in the Navy for 20 years before retiring in 1976 with the rank of E-7. He then worked as self-employed painting contractor.

Mr. Sparks is survived by his wife, Donna Lea of Green Valley; sons, Gary of  Texas and Rick Mason of Ohio; daughters, Deeanna Insall of  Texas and Liana Severin of Fresno; mother, Louise of Arkansas; brothers, Millard and C.W., both of Arkansas, Drury of  Louisiana and Larry of Tennessee; sisters, Frances Roberts, Nona Bevins and Paula McArthur, all of Arkansas, Rosie Peterson of Vacaville, Willmath Yaden of  Washington, Barbara Colling of Michigan and Kathy Davis of  Louisiana; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Donald Keith Adams

A memorial service for Donald Keith Adams, 31, of Fairfield will be 4 p.m. Saturday in the clubhouse at Country Club Estates Mobile Park, 1800 E. Tabor Ave., Fairfield.

Family and friends will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born July 24, 1966, in Hayward, Mr. Adams died May 15, 1998, in University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento after a long illness.

A resident of Fairfield for 14 years, Mr. Adams worked as a swimming pool analyst for a Vacaville pool service for three years.

He was active in boating, kneeboarding, scuba diving and motorcycle racing. He was a very sports-minded and sports-loving individual.

Mr. Adams is survived by his son, Jacob Allen of Lynchburg, Va.; mother and stepfather, Nadine and Bill of Fairfield; sisters, Dena Rae of Fremont and Dawna Frederich of Vallejo; brother, Richard Dale of Vallejo; and grandmother, Velma Huckabee of Fremont. He was preceded in death by his father, Don, and sister, Sandra Frederich.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Jacqueline Brown

Memorial services for Jacqueline Brown, 42, of Oakland will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Claybon Lea of Mount. Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Ms. Brown died May 17, 1998, in Oakland after a short illness.

Born Aug. 5, 1955, in Oakland, she lived in Oakland for nine years. She was a homemaker.

Ms. Brown is survived by her son, Julius of Fairfield; parents, Clarence and Julia of Fairfield; sisters, Freida Walls of Ogden, Utah, Diane Campbel of Carmichael, Sylvia Hammond of Vallejo, Ingrid Powell of Richmond and Theresa Powell of Pittsburgh; and brothers, Larry of Ogden, Nathaniel of Vacaville, Eric of Layton, Utah, and Harold Powell of Richmond.

Kristine Grace Lundblad

At the request of the family there will be a private memorial service for Kristine Grace Lundblad, 40, of Fairfield.

Inurnment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Ms. Lundblad died May 16, 1998, in San Francisco after a short illness.

Born Feb. 27, 1958, in Kalamazoo, Mich., she lived in Fairfield for seven years. She worked at the Nut Tree Restaurant candy department as a sales clerk for a year. She loved arts and crafts and was a writer of poetry.

Ms. Lundblad is survived by longtime companion Rick Ayala of Fairfield; daughters, Julie Ayala of Fairfield and Sharon Wallace of Mariposa; son, Jonathan of Fairfield; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and David Biggins of Mariposa; brothers, Jeff Barber of  Washington, Russell Barber of  Oklahoma and Michael Barber of New York.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
