Margaret E. Mayland
There will be a private inurnment for Margaret E. Mayland, 71, of Vacaville, who died May 28, 1998, in Vacaville after a long illness.
There will be no formal services.
Born Aug. 16, 1926, in Joliet, Ill., Mrs. Mayland lived in Vacaville 30 years and worked as a certified public accountant for 30 years in San Francisco and Vacaville.
She was a member of the Coast Guard auxiliary and became the first woman commodore in the auxiliary in the Coast Guard's 12th District.
She enjoyed boating and the outdoors.
Mrs. Mayland is survived by stepsons, Wesley of Idaho and Leslie of Oregon; and godson, James Sorensen of Pacifica.
A memorial contribution may be made to the American Heart Association's Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402, or to a favorite charity.
There will be an Open House on Saturday from 12-3 p.m. at her home, 115 Olympic Circle, Leisure Town.
Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.
Carl Turner
Funeral services for Carl Turner, 82, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fairfield Funeral Home.
Members of the Elks Lodge No. 2638 will officiate. Burial will be in the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
Mr. Turner died May 30, 1998, at David Grant Medical Center after a long illness.
Born Oct. 5, 1915, in Pendleton County, W.Va., he moved to Fairfield 49 years ago.
A veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, Mr. Turner was a supervisor of the Travis Air Force Base motor pool for 30 years. He retired from the Air Force as a staff sergeant, having served in World War II.
He was also a member of Vacaville's Elks Lodge No. 2638.
Mr. Turner is survived by his wife, Elsa of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Roger Keranen of Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Jane of North Carolina; sisters, Blanche Miller of Virginia and Cleo of Delaware; brother, Clinton; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fairfield Funeral Home, 1750 Pennsylvania Ave.

Virginia Pauline Waxman
Funeral services for Virginia Pauline Waxman, 89, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
The Rev. Lanny Partain will officiate. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Waxman died May 31, 1998, in Kaiser Permanente Hospital, Vallejo after a short illness.
Born Aug. 17, 1908, in Vallejo, Mrs. Waxman was a resident of Fairfield all her life. She worked for the civil service as a seamstress in 1930 and was a mother and homemaker.
Mrs. Waxman was a member of Post 104 of the American Legion and the Fairfield Senior Center.
She is survived by her son, Jack of Fairfield; brother, Elmer Doda of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; cousin, Melvin Cook of Yountville; niece, Carol Doda of San Francisco; and one grandchild.
Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. today at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
Norman Yates
Funeral Services for Norman Yates, 72, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Assembly of God, 2207 Union Ave., Fairfield.
The Rev. Robert Clay will officiate. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
Mr. Yates died May 31, 1998, in his home after a long illness.
Born Dec. 8, 1925, in Hot Springs, Ark., Mr. Yates was a resident of Fairfield for 31 years. He worked as a hod carrier for Union Local No. 326, Vallejo for 50 years. Mr. Yates served in the U.S. Army in Korea.
Mr. Yates is survived by daughters, Wanda of Vacaville, Deborah Adair of Fairfield, Brenda Eddy of Suisun, and Verda Ryan of Suisun; special friend, Juanita Paige of Folsom; grandchildren, Joe, Kristin, and Justin Adair of Fairfield, Erika and Nikol Eddy and Jenna and KaseyRoso Ryan of Suisun.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fairfield Funeral Home, 1750 Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield.
Juan R. Fernandez
Funeral services for Juan R. Fernandez, 96, will be 10 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville.
The Rev. Eugenio Lopez will officiate. Entombment will follow in Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.
Mr. Fernandez died May 30, 1998, in Vacaville after a brief illness.
Born Feb. 28, 1902, in El Pilar de Lubrin Almeria, Spain, he was a Vacaville resident for 38 years. Before his retirement he worked for Basic Vegetable in Vacaville. He belonged to the Senior Citizens Card Club.
Mr. Fernandez enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.
Mr. Fernandez is survived by his wife, Felomena; sons, Francisco of Vacaville and Raphael of Almeria; sister, Ana of Pilar, Spain; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Tuesday in McCune Garden Chapel.
Frederick William Miller
A funeral service for Dr. Frederick William Miller, 64, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Napa's First Presbyterian Church, 1133 Third St. Burial will follow at Tulocay Cemetery.
Born Sept. 17, 1933, in Portland, Ore., Dr. Miller died May 31, 1998, at a Vallejo hospital.
His family moved to California when he was 2 years old, and he was raised in the East San Francisco Bay Area.
He was the first member of his family to earn a college degree and received his veterinary degree at the University of California, Davis, in 1958.
He married Deborah Staggs, and entered the Air Force Veterinary Corps. He was stationed at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware; and twice at Lajes Air Force Base in the Azores, Portugal, where his daughters, Julie and Laura, were born. He also was stationed at McChord Air Force Base in Washington, where his son, Patrick, was born.
Dr. Miller received the Legion of Merit for his work in the People-to-People Program at Lajes. The family spent a year in Ann Arbor, Mich., while he earned his master's degree in public health.
After 12 years of active service, Dr. Miller and his family moved back to California where he ran Cal West Veterinary Hospital in Fairfield.
Dr. Miller remarried in 1975 to Nina Jacobs. They lived in Vacaville, San Francisco and Napa while he managed or worked in local veterinary hospitals. He retired from the Air Force as a lieutenant colonel in September 1993, and from veterinary medicine in January 1998.
Dr. Miller is survived by his wife, Nina Jacobs; mother, Winifred Basch; daughters, Julie Hare and Laura Miller-Belokapova; son, Patrick; and granddaughters, Kristen and Lily.

Frank M. Randle
Funeral services for Frank M. Randle, 65, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Friday in Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Suisun.
The Rev. Claybon Lea will officiate. Internment will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
Mr. Randle died May 29, 1998, in Kaiser Hospital, San Rafael, after a brief illness.
Born Sept. 25, 1932, in Jacksonville, Texas, he was a Fairfield resident for 27 years. He graduated with a bachelor's in architecture from Tuskegee University in 1955. He served with the Air Force from 1956 to 1963 as an intelligence officer, ending his career as a first lieutenant. He worked at Hunter's Point and Mare Island Naval Shipyard as an engineering technician for 24 years. He was a real estate broker for 34 years. He was a member of the Tuskegee Alumni Club of Oakland and Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Suisun.
Mr. Randle enjoyed sports, especially basketball and football. He was known to friends and family as "Chief" or "Coach."
Mr. Randle is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Robert of Vacaville and Ray, Richard, Ron and Thomas, all of Fairfield; mother, Ella Phillips of Fairfield; brother, John of Los Angeles; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Stanley James Tooke
Services will be private for Stanley James Tooke, 85, of Vacaville.
Mr. Tooke died June 2, 1998, in Sierra Health Care Center, Davis, after a long illness.
Mr. Tooke was born Jan. 19, 1913, in Outlook, Mont. He was a graduate of Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont., class of 1938. He was an educator and school principal for 34 years and was employed with the Castro Valley Unified School District before his retirement in 1972.
He was a member of the Vacaville Moose Lodge No. 861, the local chapter of S.I.R.S. and was very active in the Leisure Town community and Seniors Bowling.
Mr. Tooke is survived by his dear friend, Ruth Von Berg of Leisure Town; sons, James, Robert and Jeffrey, all of Vacaville, Michael of Palm Harbor, Fla., and John of Suisun; daughter, Daphne of San Francisco; brother, Bill of Chandler, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet; and son, Thomas.

The Rev. Granville A. Waldron
A funeral service for the Rev. Granville A. Waldron, 68, a former chaplain for the Vacaville fire and police departments, will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Epiphany Episcopal Church, 300 West St., Vacaville.
The Rev. Stephen Leonetti will officiate. Interment will be private.
Born Sept. 25, 1929, in Pasadena to Michael and Maude (Butterfield) Waldron, the Rev. Waldron died May 27, 1998.
He was a resident of Sisters, Ore., for the past six years.
The Rev. Waldron worked at St. Paul's Cathedral in Los Angeles and was curate and assistant to the dean from 1963 to 1964. He was rector for the associated Parishes of East Los Angeles from 1964 to 1965, where he worked in the areas of civil rights and street gangs.
He then moved to Crescent City and served as vicar at St. Paul's Mission. He was chaplain and therapist for the Del Norte County Probation Department as well as disaster chairman for the county. He was chaplain and therapist at the Bar-O Boys Ranch and the Air Force Requa Site in Klamath.
In 1973, he moved to Bend, Ore., and lived there for the next 10 years. The Rev. Waldron was the rector of the Trinity Episcopal Church through 1983. He also served as a counselor at the Juvenile Department, worked at the J-Bar-J Boys Ranch and was the Oregon state fire chaplain. In 1983, he moved to Eugene, Ore., and was the rector of St. Thomas Episcopal Church until 1986.
He married Dee Milne on June 19, 1986, in St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Eugene.
In 1986, the Rev. Waldron moved to Vacaville and became the rector at Epiphany Episcopal Church until his retirement in 1992. During this time he volunteered as the chaplain for the police and fire departments. The Rev. Waldron and his wife then moved to Sisters.
The Rev. Waldron's hobbies included writing, cooking, eating gourmet foods and traveling. He was on the original committee of the Hospice of Bend and served as police and fire chaplain for Eugene. He also volunteered as a firefighter and chaplain for Bend.
Along with his wife the Rev. Waldron is survived by his sons, Ronald Granville and Richard Grant, both of Portland, Ore., and William Edward Stanley of Seattle; daughter, Hilary Janette Stanley of Oregon City, Ore.; brother; Joseph of Riverside; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William Gerard.

Kurt Heyer
Private services will be held for Kurt Heyer, 67, of Fairfield, who died June 2, 1998. Inurnment will be private.
Born June 18, 1930, in Bremerhaven, Germany, Mr. Heyer lived in Fairfield for 26 years. He retired as a technical sergeant in the Air Force from 1958 to 1978. He worked in supply and retired as a safety inspector.
After he retired from the Air Force, Mr. Heyer worked for Chevron Oil Refinery in Richmond as a safety inspector. He retired from there in 1988.
He was an avid stamp collector and loved reading about history.
Mr. Heyer is survived by his wife, Rosemarie of Fairfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Oliver and Lyn of Berkeley and Robert and Coey of St. James, Mo.; and grandchildren, Johanna and Theo of Berkeley.

Hubert 'Ski' Meirowsky
A memorial service for Hubert "Ski" Meirowsky, 62, of Cedar Point, Kan., will be held today.
Born Jan. 16, 1936, in Kansas, Mr. Meirowsky died May 31, 1998, in Wichita, Kan., after a short illness.
Mr. Meirowsky was a resident of Vacaville for 24 years. He joined the Navy in 1953 where he met and married Patricia Gray. His livelihood was auto body painting and repair. In 1974, he received his teaching credential and became the first auto body teacher in Solano County. He taught until 1985 when he retired and returned to Kansas.
Mr. Meirowsky was a member of the Vacaville Kiwanis, Lions Club, Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce.
He was known for his love of nature and his sense of humor. He enjoyed boating, camping, hunting, auto racing and spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Meirowsky is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia of Cedar Point; son, Michael of Emporia, Kan.; daughter, Lorraine of Vacaville; granddaughters, Lyndsey of Oregon and Hilery of Elmdale, Kan.; nieces, Donna Finke of Kansas, Marlene Sibley of California, Margaret King of Minnesota; and nephews, Rodney and Robert Herzet of Kansas, Stephen King of Wyoming, Richard King of Oregon, and Jesse King of California.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph and Guy and sister, Alberta Herzet.

Kathleen 'Kathy' Meredith
A memorial celebration of life for Kathleen "Kathy" Meredith, 61, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6.
Born in Mississippi on June 18, 1936, Mrs. Meredith died June 1, 1998, in Vacaville.
Services will be conducted by family and friends at the Elks Lodge, 304 Parker St., Vacaville. The family has asked that casual dress be worn for the memorial. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Meredith enjoyed many hobbies including boating, camping, sewing, and arts and crafts. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; and most of all, she loved fishing.
Mrs. Meredith is survived by her husband, James of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Marcie and Ed Mann of Vacaville; son, Matt of Vacaville; grandsons, Vincent and Beau Mann of Vacaville; mother, Lou Carpenter of Woodland; sisters, Billie Halabasch of Woodland and Becky Dye of Lodi; and brother, Michael Carpenter of Vallejo.
