James Altieri

A funeral Mass for James Altieri, 92, of Oakdale will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 1 Notre Dame Ave., San Mateo.

Burial will be in Skylawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Altieri died from natural causes June 8, 1998, in Modesto.

Born Nov. 13, 1905, in Vacaville, he moved to San Mateo when he was young and lived there for many years. Mr. Altieri was a former assistant state director for the American Association of Retired Persons and past president of AARP Chapter 139.

A member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the San Mateo Reserve Police Officers Association, and the Hibernian Luncheon Club and a gardening lover. Mr. Altieri moved to Oakdale last fall to be closer to his family. He was twice chosen as Senior Citizen of the Year in San Mateo County.

Mr. Altieri was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Altieri in 1989.

He is survived by two sons, Don of Oakdale and Brent of Sunnyvale; daughter-in-law, Gail Altieri of Oakdale; brothers, Mike of San Mateo, Frank of San Mateo, and Bill of Belmont; and three grandchildren.

A vigil service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at O'Connell's Chapel, 1311 S. El Camino Real in San Mateo.

Colleen Mary Bruder

A memorial Mass for Colleen Mary Bruder, 69, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Friday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fairfield.

Inurnment will be private.

The Rev. Michael Downey of the church will officiate.

Born March 16, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Mrs. Bruder died June 8, 1998, in the Sunrise Care Center in Fairfield after a long illness.

She had been a homemaker and enjoyed trips to the ocean and watercolor painting. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish.

Mrs. Bruder is survived by daughters, Marianne Duncan of Vacaville, Kathy Lago of Fairfield and Roberta Chisam of San Jose; son, Timothy of Walnut Creek; sister, Mikell Birrer of Walsenburg,  Colo.; mother, Aline Gibbons of Walsenburg; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert.

William Lewis Zachary

A funeral service for William Lewis Zachary, 76, of Vacaville will be 4 p.m. Friday in McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

The Rev. Keith Knauf will officiate. A private inurnment will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Zachary died June 5, 1998, in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born Nov. 7, 1921, in Arkansas, he lived in Vacaville for more than 40 years. Mr. Zachary's career as a union carpenter in Vallejo spanned more than 30 years. He loved hunting and fishing, playing guitar, and singing at family gatherings.

Mr. Zachary is survived by daughters, Linda Ackerson of Vacaville, Beverly Layton of Lawton, Okla., and Terri Coleman of Waterford, Va.; son, Monte of Tonapah, Nev.; sisters, Georgia Foster of Phoenix, Ariz., Gladys Turner of Vacaville and Euleta Hembree of Vacaville; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.

Col. Charles G. Dennis

Funeral services for retired Col. Charles G. Dennis will be 10 a.m. Friday at McCune Garden Chapel.

The Rev. Vic Matson of the Community United Methodist Church in Fairfield will preside. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Sept. 12, 1915, in Pittsburgh, Pa., Mr. Dennis died June 8, 1998, at David Grant Medical Center after a short illness. He was 82.

He served 35 years in the Air Force, where he was a pilot and flew both B-52s and the C-5 aircraft. He was in World War II and flew in the Berlin Airlift. He also served in the Korean conflict and was a test pilot of the first supersonic jet airplanes.

After retirement, he and his family settled in Vacaville and have lived here for 33 years. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge No. 134 of Vacaville; and he was a Shriner, affiliated with the Ben Ali Temple of Sacramento.

Mr. Dennis is survived by his wife, Elaine of Vacaville; daughter, Maggie Colvin of Sacramento; granddaughter, Rochelle Colvin of Sacramento; sister, Ann Broughton of  Pennsylvania; and a niece, Barbara Rogers of  Texas.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel.

Deloras Mae Mayer

Funeral services for Deloras Mae Mayer, 70, of Vacaville will be at 2 p.m. today in Nadeau Family Funeral Home, 180 E. Monte Vista Ave., Vacaville.

A private burial service will take place in New Jersey.

Mrs. Mayer died on June 7, 1998, at VacaValley Hospital after a brief illness.

Born June 29, 1927, in Sioux City, Iowa, she moved to Vacaville 20 years ago.

She was a homemaker, actively involved with FISH, Meals on Wheels and worked with Tele-Care. She was also an avid bingo player.

Mrs. Mayer is survived by daughters, Kathy C. Knowles of Trenton, N.J., Lynita D. Mayer of Anaheim Hills, Juanita M. Bartel of Olathe, Kan., and Patricia A. Frame of Sydney, Australia; son, Thomas of Trenton; brothers, Ed Smith of Oregon, Robert Smith of Vallejo and George Smith of Arizona; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Family visitation will be private at Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made to FISH, c/o Bethany Lutheran Church, 621 S. Orchard Ave., Vacaville.

Wilda Felice Dohr

A memorial service for Wilda Felice Dohr, 79, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

A private burial will be at Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon.

Born Dec. 21, 1918, in Dixon, Mrs. Dohr died June 9, 1998, at Sierra Solano Care Center in Fairfield. She was a resident of Dixon for 37 years.

Mrs. Dohr graduated from Dixon High School. She retired an accounting supervisor from the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District after 21 years.

Mrs. Dohr is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Salley of Fairfield; granddaughter, Sara of Fair-field; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Virginia Pritchard of Vallejo; sister-in-law, Jewell Pritchard of Fairfield; and a niece and nephew.

John V. Stout

Graveside services with military honors for John V. Stout, 76, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

The Rev. Liciano Valanzuela of Fairfield's Holy Spirit Church will officiate.

Born Aug. 14, 1921, in Ontario, Canada, Mr. Stout died June 4, 1998, at Travis Air Force Base's David Grant Medical Center after a short illness.

He became a naturalized citizen in 1953. He served with Canada's First Battalion of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders during World War II.

He also served as a chief master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for 25 years, retiring in 1976.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Bud Goucher of Canada; cousins, Larry and Sheila Stout of Canada; and longtime friends and adopted family, Jerry and Joan Coyle and family of Fairfield.

Rosa Telgemeier

Funeral services for Rosa Telgemeier, 95, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Vance Madron will officiate.

There will be a private burial at the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Sept. 25, 1902, in Richmond, Mo., Mrs. Telgemeier died June 11, 1998, at the Sierra Solano Convalescent Hospital in Fairfield after a brief illness.

She worked as an apartment manager until retirement and lived in Fairfield for 50 years.

Mrs. Telgeimer was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Johanna Best of Fairfield; sister, Temple Vaughn of Richmond, Mo.; brother, Joseph Stockton of Richmond, Mo.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Eric Thomas Vincenty

Funeral services for Eric Thomas Vincenty, 27, of Dixon will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

The Rev. Paul Fair of the First Baptist Church of Vacaville will preside. Interment will be at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery following the funeral services.

Born April 29, 1971, in Vallejo, Mr. Vincenty died suddenly at his Dixon home on June 10, 1998.

He worked as a receiving clerk at an automotive parts store. He loved four-wheeling and working on his truck.

He lived in Solano County for more than 15 years.

He is survived by his father, Arthur of Vacaville; mother, Nancy DeWitt of Davis; brother, Jason of Vacaville; sisters, Evelyn Fair of Vacaville and Rylee DeWitt of Davis; grandmothers, Alice of Vallejo and Carol Brum of Davis; and numerous cousins.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind, 350 Los Ranchitos Road, San Rafael 94903, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Maxima S. Alvarez

A Mass of Christian Burial for Maxima S. Alvarez, 91, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Monday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate.

Burial will be in the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born June 2, 1907, in Nueva Ecija, the Philippines, Mrs. Alvarez died June 11, 1998, at her Fairfield home after a long illness.

She worked as a beautician in the Philippines for fives years. She also was a homemaker for many years.

Mrs. Alvarez is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rosario and Jaime Barrios of Ontario, Canada; sons and daughters-in law, Jess and Raquel of Fairfield, Richard and Elizabeth of La Mirada, and Jose and Natividad of Manila, Philippines; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, with a rosary at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Eleanor 'Nell' Chalmers

A Catholic prayer service for Eleanor "Nell" Chalmers, 76, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Inurnment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born July 31, 1921, in Ross, Mrs. Chalmers died June 6, 1998, at her Fairfield home after a short illness.

She lived in Fairfield for 44 years.

She graduated from Mount Tamalpais High School and from the College of Marin. She moved to Fairfield in 1954, where she worked for the Solano County Agriculture Department as an executive secretary for 15 years.

She was always loving, forgiving and supportive of all whose lives she graced. She loved her home and garden, entertaining friends and balancing family, friends and work.

She belonged to the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Green Valley Country Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, William.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Susan of Novato and Scott and Cindy of Chico; brother, Kenneth Schwerin of Southern California; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and John Reza of Vallejo; brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Marie of Vallejo; grandson, Mark of Novato; granddaughters, Mary Ann of Novato, Christa of Chico and Cara of Eugene, Ore.

Leonard Jorgensen

Funeral services with military honors for Leonard Jorgensen, 66, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Air Force Lt. Carson Bush will preside. Inurnment will be private.

Born Oct. 26, 1931, in San Francisco, Mr. Jorgensen died June 12, 1998, at David Grant Medical Canter on Travis Air Force Base after a short illness. He lived in Fairfield for 42 years.

Mr. Jorgensen served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1972, working as a security police officer. He retired as a staff sergeant.

He then worked for the Solano County Department of Education as a transportation supervisor for 11 years.

His primary interests included fishing and hunting.

Mr. Jorgensen is survived by his wife of 45 years, Simone of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Lillian and Daniel Blanton of Omaha, Neb.; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Michelle of Fairfield; sister, Edna Stottlemeyer of Yarington, Nev.; brothers, Donald of Green Valley, Ariz., Harold of Pacifica, and Gerald of La Crosse, Wis.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
