Lucille Genung King

A memorial service for Lucille Genung King, 93, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Episcopal Church in Fairfield.

Born March 4, 1905, in Indianapolis, Mrs. King died June 29, 1998, in Dixon after a short illness.

A 35-year resident of Fairfield, Mrs. King was a graduate of Wellesley College and retired from the Solano County Hospital.

Mrs. King is survived by her daughter, Anne Fortunato of Vacaville; daughter-in-law, Cathy Creighton; grandsons, Charles, Thomas and Michael; six great-grandchildren, all of California; and sister-in-law, Mary Louise Creighton of  Washington, D.C.

Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Animal Services, 51 Commerce Place, Vacaville 95687.

Charles Edward 'Ed' Barton

A funeral Mass for Charles "Ed" Edward Barton, 65, of Salinas will be 10 a.m. Friday at San Angela's Catholic Church in Pacific Grove.

Burial will follow at Mission Memorial Park in Seaside.

Mr. Barton died July 6, 1998, in Hospice House in Monterey.

Born Dec. 7, 1932, in Caldwell, Idaho, he lived in Salinas the past two years. A graduate of Solano Community College, he served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 1971. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 593 in Prunedale, and president of the Gem and Mineral Society.

Mr. Barton is survived by his mother, Madelyn Ora of Salinas; son, Thomas Edward of Troy, Ill.; daughters, Cynthia Elaine Knecht of Vacaville, Victoria Lynn Dresselhans of Grants Pass, Ore., Traci Lee Adiego of Vacaville, and Theresa Louise Reed of Enterprise, Ala.; brothers, Patrick of Salinas and Anthony of Reno; and 14 grandchildren.

Vigil services will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at San Angela's Catholic Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Paul Mortuary of Pacific Grove.

Jim Farrell

A memorial Mass for Jim Farrell, 70, formerly of Vacaville, will be 5:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville.

A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. in the Little Theater at Vacaville High School. The service will be casual with music, stories, jokes and will offer friends an opportunity to share their memories of Mr. Farrell.

Formal services were held in Abilene,  Texas. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt, Kan.

Born April 7, 1928, in Pratt, Mr. Farrell died May 22, 1998, in  Texas after a long illness.

He lived in Vacaville for 36 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. He then enrolled in Sacramento State University where he earned his master's degree and a credential allowing him to work as a school psychologist. Mr. Farrell taught in Vacaville from 1955 to 1957 and ultimately became the director of special education for the Vacaville Unified School District. He retired in 1984 and moved to  Texas in 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Kay of Abilene,  Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia Farrell-Lane and David Lane of Vacaville and Lisa and Steve Smentek of  Texas; and grandson, Theron of  Texas.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jamey.

Following the memorial service, friends may gather at Pietro's No. 2 on Merchant Street to toast Mr. Farrell with an Irish blessing.

Ernesto Medina

A Mass of the Resurrection for Ernesto Medina, 23, of Vacaville will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville.

The Rev. Eugenio Lopez will preside. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Medina died July 3, 1998, in Vacaville after a sudden illness.

Born April 9, 1975, in Turlock, Mr. Medina lived in Vacaville for the past 14 years.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary at 7 p.m. in McCune Garden Chapel.

Andres 'Andy' M. Pastor

A Mass of Christian Burial with full military honors for Andres "Andy" M. Pastor, 47, of Suisun will be 11 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2700 Dover Ave., Fairfield.

The Rev. Sebastian Meyer will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Pastor died July 4, 1998, in David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base after a long illness.

Born May 31, 1951, in Makati Rizal, Philippine Islands, he had lived in Suisun for the past three years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1991. During his time in the Air Force, he worked as a structural maintenance technician for 7 1/2 years and an operations resource management technician for 14 1/2 years. He retired as a technical sergeant. After retirement he worked at the Sunnyvale Medical Center in the medical records department for 2 1/2 years. He was an avid fisherman and loved to bowl.

Mr. Pastor is survived by his wife, Sylvia Ann of Suisun; daughter, Lisa of Suisun; sons, Jeremy, Mark and Dereck, all of Suisun; sisters, Liguaya of the Philippines and Aurora Abadam of San Jose; brothers, Bonifacio of the Philippines, Paul of Lodi, Arsenio of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ricardo and Loretto, both of San Francisco.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today and Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W.  Texas St., Fairfield. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Josephine Rico

Funeral services for Josephine Rico, 95, of Victorville will be 1:30 p.m. today in Oak Hill Funeral Home in San Jose.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Mrs. Rico died July 4, 1998, in Sterling Commons convalescent home.

Born in New Orleans, La., Mrs. Rico lived in San Francisco and the Bay Area before moving to Southern California. She had lived in California for 75 years, 60 of which she spent as a self-employed business investor.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and traveling.

Mrs. Rico is survived by her husband, Louis Rico of Victorville, who arrived in Vacaville in 1917 with his family. He attended Vacaville schools and at one time worked with his brother, John, at The Reporter. She is also survived by a daughter, Julia Balistreri of Manteca; grandson, Bob Balistreri of Victorville; granddaughter, Joan Christian of Manteca; five great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are handled by Victor Valley Mortuary Inc.

Carolyn Taylor

Funeral services for Carolyn Taylor, 59, of Vacaville will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville.

Burial will be in Skylawn Cemetery in San Mateo.

Mrs.  Taylor died July 6, 1998, in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born March 31, 1939, in San Francisco, she had lived in Vacaville for the past 19 years. She was a mother and a homemaker. She was a member of the United Veterans Memorial Association and an active member of the bingo community.

Mrs.  Taylor is survived by her husband, Robert of Vacaville; daughters, Tammy Stracener and Linda Heimann of Vacaville; stepdaughters, Robin of Suisun, Patricia Larson of Clearlake, Charlene  Johnson of Pleasanton, and Karen Shocklett of Everett, Wash.; brother, Jack Leslie of South San Francisco; sisters, Beverly Herting of Walnut Creek, Jane Simons of Vacaville, and Gloria Lane of Idaho; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today in McCune Garden Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to United Veterans Memorial Association, 549 Merchant St., Vacaville 95688.

Jimmy 'Jim' Hamilton Crow

Memorial services for Jimmy "Jim" Hamilton Crow of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Monday in McCune Garden Chapel.

Mr. Crow, 73, died July 8, 1998, at David Grant Medical Center after a short and unexpected illness.

Born March 6, 1925, in Roscoe, Pa., he resided in Fairfield for the last 29 years.

He began his military career as an aviator cadet and retired as a chief master sergeant at Travis Air Force Base in 1974 after 32 years of service in the Air Force. During his enlistment, Mr. Crow served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

After retirement from the Air Force, he worked an additional 10 years in civil service at Travis Air Force Base, retiring in 1984. He received medals and honors while serving his country, including the 60th Military Airlift Command NCO of the Year and Civil Service Employee of the Year.

Mr. Crow was a Mason who enjoyed fishing, golfing and traveling to Reno. He was loving and devoted to his family.

Mr. Crow is survived by his wife, Bonita of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Bonita I. and Donald A. Fisher of Vacaville; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy H. and Colleen of Naperville, Ill., Thomas A. and Jennifer of Martinez, Ga., Robert and Karen of Ukiah and William T. "Tim" and Pamela of Vacaville; son, Richard R. Crow of Savannah, Ga.; grandchildren, Carmen, Christina, Alyssa, Del, Crystal, April, Aaron, Carly, Alex, Emily, Jim, Chris and Tony; and one great-grandson, Christopher.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Disabled American Veteran Foundation, Humane Society or the donor's choice of charity.

Joann Jelinski

A Mass of the Resurrection for Joann Jelinski, 53, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. today in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will be private.

Born May 19, 1945, in Santa Rosa, Mrs. Jelinski died July 7, 1998, in University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento after a long illness.

Mrs. Jelinski had lived in Vacaville for the past nine years. She was a self-employed day-care operator in Vacaville for the past eight years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Mrs. Jelinski is survived by her daughters, Jill Diane Cheshier of Vacaville and Jennifer J. Bauser of Dixon; son, Rick of Vacaville; parents, Milton and Josephine Boertmann of Florida; brother, Walter Kenneth Boertmann of New Jersey; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. on March 19, and her grandson, Matthew Edward on June 20.

Visitation was held Thursday night.

Janie Jo Kosydar

Memorial services for Janie Jo Kosydar, 44, of Siletz, Ore., will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newport, Ore.

The Rev. Jack Wells will preside. Burial will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Eureka Cemetery in Newport, Ore.

Born July 21, 1953, in Fairfield, Mrs. Kosydar died July 7, 1998, in Siletz after a long illness. Mrs. Kosydar lived in Winters from 1953 to 1962 when her family moved to Vacaville. She moved to Oregon in 1971.

She was one of the pillars of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Siletz. She was also active in Siletz-Toledo-Newport community projects such as Kids' Connection and Smile, and was a volunteer at the Siletz Grade School both before and after she did home-schooling for her children for four years.

She was strongly committed to right-to-life and Birthright groups.

Mrs. Kosydar is survived by her husband of 17 years, Jerry of Siletz; mother, Josephine Hobbs of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Kassi and Josh Figueroa of Springfield, Va.; sons, Jeremy, Jonathan and Nicholas, all of Siletz; daughter, Alea of Siletz; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jesse and Kris Rutledge of Rocklin and Tommy and Vonda Hobbs of Vacaville; brother, Timmy Hobbs of Vacaville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Paul Lockaby of Marietta, Ga., Jackie and Carl Corley of Fort Smith, Ark., Norma and Jerry Distler of Jacksonville, Ark., Peggy and Brian O'Neal of Orangevale, and Pam and Ted Williams of Vacaville; sister, Connie Hobbs of Vacaville; grandson, Gabriel Figueroa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sister, Patricia, and father, Jack.

William Pedrick

Funeral services for William Pedrick, 64, of Dixon will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon.

Pastor Wesley Nordman of Dixon Community Church will preside. Interment will follow at the Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon.

Mr. Pedrick died July 7, 1998, in Oregon after a sudden illness.

Born Dec. 5, 1933, in Lakeview, Ore., he lived in Dixon for 50 years. He was a farmer in Dixon. He was a member of the Dixon Moose Lodge and American Legion and the National Rifle Association. He loved fishing.

Mr. Pedrick is survived by his daughters, Debbie of Paso Robles and Denice of Los Angeles; sons, Richard of Salinas and David of Santa Barbara; sister and brother-in-law, Arline and Elmer  Jones of Dixon; five grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402.

Arrangement are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.

Ruth Pearl Potts

There will be no services for Ruth Pearl Potts, 77, of Fairfield. Inurnment will be private at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born Aug. 14, 1920, in Mississippi, Mrs. Potts died July 8, 1998, at Solano Care Center after a long illness.

She lived in Fairfield for eight years. She worked as a self-employed home health-care aide for six years and lived in the Chicago area for most of her life. She was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness on Oct. 5, 1975, at Three Oaks Congregation in Harbourd, Mich.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Richard M. Fischer

Richard M. Fischer, 79, of Vacaville, died July 8, 1998, in Vacaville after a long illness.

There will be no formal services for Mr. Fischer.

Born Nov. 30, 1918, in Shawneetown, Ill., he lived in Vacaville the past 14 years. He graduated from Enfield High School in Enfield, Ill., in 1935. After graduation he entered the Army Air Corps in Indianapolis. During his career, he flew A-20 low level strafer aircraft in 38 combat missions. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked as a car salesman in the Bay Area and later for the Lucky food chain corporate office in Dublin.

He was a volunteer at David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base, a Mason in Enfield Ill., a life master bridge player, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Vacaville and member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Bruce Fischer.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Beulah "Mickie" of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Donald Messenger of London, England; granddaughter, Louisa Messenger of London; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Fran Thompson of San Diego; and niece, Jeannine Schubert of Portland, Ore.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.
