Lucia Avila Martinez

A Funeral Mass for Lucia Avila Martinez, 89, of Winters will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Winters.

Burial will be in Winters Cemetery.

Mrs. Martinez died July 8, 1998, at Sutter Davis Hospital in Davis.

Born Sept. 25, 1908, in Marchal DeLubrin, Spain, she had lived in Winters for the past 59 years. She was a mother and homemaker.

Mrs. Martinez is survived by her son, Valdomero of Winters; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Joe Campos of Winters; daughter-in-law, Isabel Martinez of Arbuckle; sister, Beatriz Avila of Marchal DeLubrin, Spain; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Martinez was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, John R. Ramos; son, John of Arbuckle; and sisters, Carmen Ramos and Elenor Campos of Marchal DeLubrin, Spain.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Smith's Colonial Chapel, 14 Main St., Winters.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel Inc.

Joan A. Nunez

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joan A. Nunez, 66, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Rev. Louis Valenzuela will officiate. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Nunez died July 10, 1998, at home after a long illness.

Born May 29, 1932, in East Boston, Mass., she had lived in Fairfied for the past 37 years. She worked with Harold Pressas CPA for several years, later going on to work for Solano County as an accountant in the Public Guardians Department for 15 years.

She also owned and operated Joan Nunez's Bookkeeping and tax service. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Sons of Italy and the Young Ladies Institute of the Catholic Church.

Mrs. Nunez is survived by her husband of 47 years, Charles of Fairfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Lisa of Dayton, Ohio, and Kenneth and Deborah of Hillsboro, Ore.; son, Charles Jr. of San Jose; sister, Patricia DeVeau of Haverhill, Mass; brothers, Michael Siracusa of Lynn, Mass., and John Siracusa of Boston; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 West  Texas St., Fairfield.

Wilbur Pedrick

Funeral services for Wilbur Pedrick, 64, of Dixon will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon.

Pastor Wesley Nordman of Dixon Community Church will preside. Interment will follow at the Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon.

Mr. Pedrick died July 7, 1998, in Lakeview, Oregon after a sudden illness.

Born Dec. 5, 1933, in San Jose, he lived in Dixon for 50 years. He was a farmer in Dixon. He was a member of the Dixon Moose Lodge and American Legion and the National Rifle Association. He loved fishing.

Mr. Pedrick is survived by his daughters, Debbie of Paso Robles and Denice of Los Angeles; sons, Richard of Salinas and David of Santa Barbara; sister and brother-in-law, Arline and Elmer  Jones of Dixon; five grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402.

Arrangement are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.

Verna Ethel Rerich

Funeral services for Verna Ethel Rerich, 69, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Monday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home Chapel, 1850 West  Texas St., Fairfield.

The Rev. Larry Vilardo of Rockville Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Rockville Cemetery.

A memorial service conducted by the Emblem Club No. 371 Vallejo Elks Lodge will precede the funeral service.

Mrs. Rerich died July 8, 1998, in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born March 1, 1929, in Cresbard, S.D., she lived in Concord from 1955 to 1977 before moving to Fairfield 20 years ago. She worked as a homemaker for 49 years. She also was an active member of the Fairfield-Suisun Newcomers, Emblem Club No. 371 Vallejo Elks Lodge, and the Vallejo Elks RV Club.

She also was an avid bowler and was secretary for various bowling leagues.

Mrs. Rerich is survived by her husband, Frank of Fairfield; daughters, Rosemary of Livermore and Sherry of Fairfield; brothers, Dale Beets of Rochester, Minn. and Donny Flaten of San Francisco; sister, Viola Hagger of Minneapolis; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anthony Joseph Amoroso

Funeral services for Anthony Joseph Amoroso, 45, of Vacaville will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at Vaca Hills Chapel.

His father-in-law, James Sotomayor, will preside. Inurnment will be private.

Born June 25, 1953, in San Francisco, Mr. Amoroso died July 11, 1998, at Vaca Valley Hospital after a sudden illness.

He moved to the area two years ago.

Mr. Amoroso was a truck driver for the Teamsters Union Local No. 85. He loved his children.

Mr. Amoroso is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Vacaville; sons, Tony and Matthew, both of South San Francisco; daughter, Danielle of Vacaville; mother, Helen Sacco of Modesto; sister, Yvonne Winters of South San Francisco; and brother, Buzz of San Mateo.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Helen H. Thompson

A memorial service for Helen H. Thompson, 66, of Harrisonburg, Va., will be 3 p.m. Monday in Virginia.

Dr. John F. Sloop will preside. Burial will be private at the Oak Lawn Memory Gardens in Staunton, Va. She will be cremated at the Lindsey Cremation Chapel.

Born Oct. 1, 1931, in St. Louis, Mrs. Thompson, fondly known as "Poppy," died July 10, 1998, at her home. She was formerly of Houston and Mount Sidney.

On Sept. 2, 1950, she married Loy Frank in Wurzburg, Germany. They lived in several cities, including Staunton, Va. From 1971 to 1979, the couple lived in  Oklahoma.

After her husband's death in June 1980, Mrs. Thompson moved to Houston where she started a career as a medical office assistant. She moved to Harrisonburg, Va., in 1990, where she lived with her daughter, Katherine, and granddaughters, Tami and Kelly.

Mrs. Thompson was of the Presbyterian denomination. She had been active in hospital auxiliaries and enjoyed playing golf with her husband.

She is survived by her daughter, Katherine T. Corbett of Harrisonburg, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Roi Nelson of Stillwater, Okla.; son and daughter-in-law, Graham and Silvia of Vacaville; grandsons, Matthew and Adam Fluegel; granddaughters, Kelly Corbett, Tamra Corbett and her fiance Chris York, Sheena, and Samantha; sisters, Charlotte Henderson Digiacomo of Quincy, Mass., and Kledus George of Plymouth, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Lindsey Funeral Home.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the RMH Hospice.

Louise Archer

Graveside services for Louise Archer, 87, of Nevada will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Burial will follow.

Mrs. Archer died May 9, 1998, in McGailia after a short illness.

Born Aug. 17, 1911, in Nevada, she moved to the area 80 years ago. She worked in sales for jewelry and shoe stores and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Archer is survived by her sister-in-law, Phylis McCalib of Vacaville; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Monte, in 1994.

Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Morris J. Brown

A private funeral service and interment were held for Morris J. Brown, 82, of Fairfield.

Born Jan. 4, 1916, in  Texas, Mr. Brown died July 6, 1998, at home.

He moved to Fairfield 52 years ago.

He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1947. He then served in the United States Air Force reserve for 26 years and retired as a chief master sergeant.

He worked at Travis Air Force Base as a supervising aircraft mechanic for 30 years.

He loved camping, fishing and golfing.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Catherine, in January.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Karin and David Young of Sacramento; granddaughter, Angela Collins of Elk Grove; grandson, Andrew Young of Sacramento; and brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Bonnie of  Whitewright,  Texas.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1312 Maryland St., Fairfield.

Antonette R. Garcia

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the McCune Garden Chapel for Antonette R. Garcia, 87, of Vacaville.

The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly of St. Joseph's Catholic Church will preside.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McCune Garden Chapel. Interment will be in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Oct. 31, 1910, in Hawaii, Ms. Garcia died July 11, 1998, in Vacaville after a long illness.

She lived in Vacaville for 67 years.

She worked at Basic Vegetable for 28 years.

She was a member of the Basic Founders Club and a past member of the Senior Citizens Club of Vacaville.

She enjoyed cooking and her family and friends.

Ms. Garcia was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1958.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Melody of Vacaville; daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Howard Stapp of Rancho Cordova and Elaine and Jerry Hall of Vacaville; sister, Ella Lopez of Hayward; brother, Mike Rivera of Sacramento; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and numerous nephews and nieces.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402.

John F. Helm

Funeral services for John F. Helm, 74, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Pastor Gary Walker of Valley Church will preside. Interment will be at Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette.

Mr. Helm died July 10, 1998, at his home in Vacaville after a long illness.

Born June 2, 1924, in Gary, Ind., he lived in Vacaville for nine years. He worked for Graybar Electric Company for 32 years before retiring in 1979. Prior to retirement he was a warehouse supervisor in Detroit, New York City, Oakland and Portland. Since retiring from Graybar, he owned and operated a Madame Alexander Doll Dealership with his wife. He was a past member of the New York Masons.

Mr. Helm will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather-to-be.

Mr. Helm is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy of Vacaville, daughters and son-in-laws, Pam and Richard Busby of Vacaville, Jackie and Len Godfrey of Oregon; brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Doris of Michigan; grandchildren, Julianne and husband Ray Lowe of Vacaville, Tony Busby of Vacaville, Grant and Kurtis Godfrey of Oregon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce and sisters, Ellen and Grace.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kaiser Hospital, Attn: Hospice, 975 Sereno Drive, Vallejo 94589.

Wanda Lipski

Graveside services for Wanda Lipski, 89, of Vacaville will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.

The Rev. Patrick Coyne of San Francisco will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.

Mrs. Lipski died July 12, 1998, in her home after a long illness.

Born Oct. 8, 1908, in Poland, she moved to the area 12 years ago. She was a homemaker for 60 years.

Mrs. Lipski was an artist who loved painting, gardening and reading.

Mrs. Lipski is survived by her daughter, Anne Quinn of Vacaville; one grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Vaca Hills Chapel with the Rev. Vincent O'Reilly presiding.
