Guy Joseph Nadeau

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated for Guy Joseph Nadeau, 75, of Fairfield 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

The Rev. Louie Valenzuela will preside. Interment will follow in the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery, Catholic section.

Mr. Nadeau died July 28, 1998, in Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Vallejo after a short illness.

Born July 2, 1923, in West Enfield, Maine, he resided in Fairfield the past 42 years. He had a full military career in the United States Army for 22 years, retiring in 1968 with the rank of E-9, command sergeant major. He then worked for a brief time for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and then was employed by the State of California, Department of Corrections, California Medical Facility for 19 years, retiring in 1988.

Mr. Nadeau is survived by his wife, Lou Ann of Fairfield; daughters, Cherylle Anne of Portland, Ore., and Michelle Light of Abilene,  Texas; sons and daughter-in-laws, David and Gloria of Sandy, Utah, Steven and Deborah of Vacaville and Ronald and Stacey of Lodi; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Randy Ladd of Vacaville; stepson, Alexander Kamakeeaina of Fairfield; sister, Delma Blaylock of Henderson, Nev.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fairfield. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church Building Fund, 1050 North  Texas St., Fairfield 94533.

Arrangements are by Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Sharyl June 'Pipkin' Prouse

A memorial service for Sharyl June "Pipkin" Prouse, 58, of Edgewood, Wash., will be at 11 a.m. Monday at McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville. Inurnment will be private in  Washington.

Mrs. Prouse died July 28, 1998, at Stanford University Hospital after a sudden illness.

Born on March 22, 1940, in Upland, she lived in Vacaville from 1955 until moving to Edgewood 26 years ago. After graduating from Vacaville High School, she was a homemaker for 38 years. She married Capt. Bruce Prouse in 1959 and traveled to many places during Capt. Prouse's Air Force career before retiring to Edgewood, Wash. Sharyl's parents have been residents of Vacaville since 1955. Sharyl and Bruce have retained the many associations of their friends in Vacaville.

She enjoyed her family, reading, golfing and traveling.

Mrs. Prouse is survived by her husband, Bruce of Edgewood, Wash.; son, Steven of Milton, Wash.; daughter, Kitty of Edgewood, Wash.; mother and father, Kitty and Jack Pipkin of Vacaville; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Patricia Pipkin of Dixon; brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Gay Pipkin of Yuba City; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Larry Heber of Vacaville; grandchildren, Tyler Parsons of Edgewood, Wash.; Chase Prouse and Caitlin Prouse both of Milton, Wash.; numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel, Vacaville.

David Hartwell Reese

A memorial service for David Hartwell Reese, 65, of Arroyo Grande will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel in Walnut Creek.

Mr. Reese died July 27, 1998, at his home.

Born Dec. 3, 1932, in Woodland, he lived in San Luis Obispo County for 28 years. At one point a firefighter in Vacaville, he began working with his father in the farming business in Woodland.

He became later a lineman at Pacific Gas & Electric Co., where he worked from 1955 to 1968. He then went to work as a business representative for Local Union, 1245 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, which covers PG&E's Coast Valleys and Los Padres divisions.

He was later promoted to assistant business manager of the union, a post he held until December of 1997.

Mr. Reese served his community by serving as a volunteer firefighter for the cities of Woodland and Vacaville.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping, especially at San Antonio Lake.

Mr. Reese is survived by his son, Christopher Reese of Martinez; daughters, Marsha Reese of Pleasant Hill, Kathryn Broumas of Turlock, Susan Reese and Karen Bruno of Concord, Anne-Marie Soulsburg of Hayward, Elizabeth Seely of Stockton; grandsons, Ryan, Jack Daniel, Dominic, Vincent, and Arman; sisters, Virginia Tadlock and Marjorie Danborn; nieces, nephews and sons-in-law.

Memorial contributions can be sent to American Parkinsons Disease Control, 4010 Marina Blvd., Suite 224, San Diego 92117.

Darrell 'Chuck' A. Wellman

No formal services will be held for Darrell "Chuck" A. Wellman, 71, of Fairfield, who died July 28, 1998, in Fairfield.

Burial will be private.

Born Dec. 12, 1926, Mr. Wellman lived in Rio Vista for the past six years.

He served in the United States Air Force and Navy, retiring after 20 years as a petty officer, first class.

A life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mr. Wellman worked as a quality control flight test inspector for Lear Fan in Reno, Nev., for five years, at Rockwell Inc. for five years and at Lockheed Aircraft for eight years.

He is survived by his wife, Jean.

Virginia Arlene Lowery

Memorial services for Virginia Arlene Lowery, 64, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Vaca Hills Chapel, 524 Elmira Road.

Inurnment will be private.

Born Feb. 16, 1934, in Portland, Ore., Mrs. Lowery died July 28, 1998, in her home.

A resident of the area for 41 years, she was an accountant at Travis Air Force Base for 40 years.

She loved crafts, gardening, computers and her children.

Mrs. Lowery is survived by her sons, Clifton Eldon of Galt and Bryan Erwin of  Washington state; daughters, Diane Annette of Vacaville and Robin Lynn of Colorado; brother, Tom Shaver of Oregon; sisters, Susan Milne and Marsha Rezanina, both of Oregon; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Fredrick H. Beaird

Private funeral services will be held for Fredrick H. Beaird, 62, of Vacaville.

Born Feb. 2, 1936, in Keokuk, Iowa, Mr. Beaird died at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield after a long illness. He moved to the area in 1972.

Mr. Beaird was retired from the California Department of Corrections. He was an avid fisherman.

Mr. Beaird is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Kenneth of San Jose and Daniel of Chicago.; stepsons, Leo Spell of Vacaville and Gerald Spell of Fairfield; and stepdaughter, Denella Leins of Fairfield.

Arrangements are by the Neptune Society of Northern California.

Jose Castro Rojas

A Catholic Prayer Service for Jose Castro Rojas, 76, of Vacaville will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Winters, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m.

The Rev. Joe Ternullo of St. Anthony Church will preside. Burial will be at the Pigo Cemetery in Guam.

Born Oct. 29, 1921, in Guam, Mr. Rojas died July 29, 1998, at the Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa. He moved to the area two years ago.

Mr. Rojas was a bus driver for the government of Guam for 10 years.

Mr. Rojas is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Francisco S.N. and Brigitte of Germany, Gerald S.N. and Josephine Taitano of Halan Pago, Guam, Peter S.N. and Carmen Camacho of Fairfield, Anthony S.N. of Vacaville, Raymond S.N. and Rosa-Lina Sanchez of Arrigada, Guam, and Thomas S.N. and Stacey Baker of Winters; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresita Heston of Saipan, Margarita and Carwin Hugh Brice II of Winters, Lourdes and Felix Palomo of Toto, Guam, Rosa and Frank Lucero of Winters, and Rosa S.N. of Vacaville; brother, Enrique Castro of Vallejo; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maria Guerrero of Sacramento, Ana and Fred Carbullido of Sacramento, and Lourdes Santos of Benicia; 31 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Atoigue and Nieves Castro; wife, Isabel San Nicolas; son, David S.N.; son-in-law, Jose Guerrero; daughter, Rosa Sanchez; and son-in-law, Samuel R. Santos.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Antonio Mario Borelli

A funeral Mass for Antonio Mario Borelli, 90, of Fairfield, will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate.

Burial will be in the Italian Cemetery in Colma.

Born Feb. 23, 1908, in Italy, he died Aug. 2, 1998, after a short illness.

He lived in Fairfield 48 years.

He had served in the Italian military prior to moving to the United States in 1930.

Mr. Borelli was a lifelong tailor and had owned Tony's Men's Store in Stockton. Later, he had the tailor shop at Travis Air Force Base for 25 years before he opened Tony's Tailor Shop in Fairfield.

He was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church where he had life membership in Knights of Columbus. He also was a life member of the Elks Lodge.

Mr. Borelli is survived by his wife, Josephine "Jo"; brother, Ralph of Roseville; six nephews, three nieces and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nella in 1943.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Wednesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Rosary will be 6 p.m. in the funeral home, recited by Chaplain Gretchen Shilts.

A memorial contribution may be made to the American Heart Association or the donor's favorite charity.

Lester 'Curly' Boles

A memorial service for Lester "Curly" Boles, 83, of Vacaville will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

The Rev. Leroy Nelson will preside. Burial will be private.

Born April 15, 1915, in Santa Rosa, Mr. Boles died Aug. 3, 1998, at his Vacaville home after a brief illness. He was a Solano County resident for 56 years and was affectionately known as "Grandpa."

Mr. Boles worked for Basic Vegetable for 43 years and was responsible for a lot of the innovations in research and development at the company.

He was also an avid ham radio operator and his call sign was WB6JRJ.

Mr. Boles is survived by his wife, Bernice of Vacaville; sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon and Brenda of Sacramento and Rodney and Marty of Vacaville; brother, Leland of Vacaville; five grandchildren; and a nephew.

Maria Anastazia Papin

A Mass of Christian Burial for Maria Anastazia Papin, 73, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will preside.

Inurnment will be private at the Saltese Cemetery at Spokane, Wash.

Born April 10, 1925, in Samborn, Poland, Mrs. Papin died Aug. 3, 1998, at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield after a short illness.

She lived in Fairfield for 38 years.

Mrs. Papin was a survivor of a concentration camp during World War II. After liberation from the camp, she became an American Red Cross volunteer. She also worked as a health care nurse's aide.

She later worked for American Home Foods in Vacaville for 20 years.

Mrs. Papin was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield and the American Red Cross. She enjoyed gardening, bingo, baking and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Papin is survived by her husband, Fred of Fairfield; daughter, Anna Lindgren of Dallas,  Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom Arnold of Fairfield, Bryan and Marjorie Henningfeld of Fairfield and Rick and Sharon Arnold of Fairfield; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy Lee Flook

Private graveside services were held at Rockville Cemetery in Suisun Valley for Dorothy Lee Flook, 77, of Fairfield. The Rev. Larry Velardo of Rockville Presbyterian Fellowship presided.

Born Oct. 29, 1920, in Del Rey, Mrs. Flook died July 22, 1998, at her home after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

She lived and worked as a registered nurse in Fairfield for more than 45 years. She attended St. Francis Nursing School in San Francisco on a full academic scholarship and received her degree in 1942. In 1953, her husband, Jack, was assigned to Travis Air Force Base and she began working at the old Fairfield Hospital on Empire Street and eventually became head nurse.

In 1961-62, Mrs. Flook was the supervising nurse during the transition from Fairfield Hospital to Intercommunity Hospital - now NorthBay Medical Center - and was Intercommunity's first head nurse, a position she filled though officially refused because of her husband's impending military transfer.

After her husband's reassignment to Travis in 1965, she began working with Dr. Allen Green at Fairfield Clinic, an association that lasted 17 years.

Upon retirement in 1982, Mrs. Flook began what she called her "serious" pursuits; golf, bowling, camping, fishing and hunting. She often said, "I don't know how I ever found time to work all those years."

She is survived by her son, George of Suisun Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Calvin Shin of Fairfield; brothers, James Patton of Sacramento and Wilburn Patton of Atwater; sister, Marybess Moncavage of Scottsdale, Ariz., and seven grandchildren.

Charles O'Hara

A memorial service for Charles V. O'Hara, 76, of Vacaville will be held at a later date. Burial will be private.

Born April 26, 1922, in Pasadena, Mr. O'Hara died Aug. 4, 1998, after a short illness. He lived in Vacaville for many years.

Mr. O'Hara founded and owned O'Hara Precision Metal Products of San Francisco for 36 years. He was a supporter and member of many oceanic and animal organizations. He enjoyed traveling, sailing and loved the ocean.

Mr. O'Hara is survived by his wife, Irene of Vacaville; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Robin Ives of Vacaville; daughters, Sande Mulqueen of Vacaville and Kathy of  Washington, D.C.; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Bill Allen of Vacaville and Debbie and Doug Schultz of Oregon; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael, in 1996.
