Betty Ruth Beckham

Funeral services for Betty Ruth Beckham, 70, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. W.A. Burkey of the First Baptist Church-Fairfield will officiate. Burial will be in the Rockville Cemetery in Suisun City.

Mrs. Beckham died Aug. 21, 1998, at the Sunrise-La Mariposa Care Center following a short illness.

Born July 9, 1928, in Fort Worth,  Texas, she lived in Concord for a quarter-century before moving to Fairfield 21 years ago. Mrs. Beckham had been a sewing and tailoring teacher for Mount Diablo Adult Education Services and had an advanced degree in apparel design.

A gifted homemaker with a love for sewing and cooking, Mrs. Beckham also had a skill for custom upholstery and crafted handmade rugs. The longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Fairfield was an avid gardener - especially with roses - and loved music.

She is survived by her husband, Elreath Beckham of Fairfield; daughters, Diana Sue Beckham of Pleasanton and Melinda Kaye Beckham-Sunnarborg of Livermore; sisters, Mona Margaret Smith of Norman, Okla., and Jorena Faye Rachaels of Plano,  Texas; and brother, Eugene Wicker of McKinney,  Texas.

Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Mary Vera Lynch

Funeral services for Mary Vera Lynch, 81, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mrs. Lynch died Aug. 22, 1998, at North Bay Medical Center after a long illness.

Born Oct. 8, 1916, in Montana, Mrs. Lynch was a homemaker and enjoyed flowers and gardening while living in Fairfield for the past 60 years.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Darrell Anderson of Fairfield; and sisters, Georgia LeGare of Pacific Grove and Polly Hartley of Hermiston, Ore.

A private interment ceremony will be held at the Fairfield-Suisun Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1312 Maryland St. in Fairfield.

Arsenia C. Herrera

A Mass of Christian Burial for Arsenia C. Herrera, 80, of Suisun will be 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

A rosary will be recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Mrs. Herrera died Aug. 23, 1998, at Sunrise La Mariposa after a short illness.

Born Oct. 16, 1917, in the Philippines, she moved to Suisun 18 years ago. She was a homemaker who devoted her entire life to her family.

Mrs. Herrera is survived by her husband, Potenciano Herrera of Suisun; son, Warlito and daughter in-law, Evelyn of Suisun; son, Medardo "Evoy" and daughter in-law, Ligaya of Suisun; daughters and sons-in-law, Solema and Ernesto Montanez, Nenita and Danily Celarbo, Rosalinda and Rasie Suyat, all of Suisun; sister, Conchita Deguzman of the Philippines; brother, Benito and sister in-law, Paz Casimero of the Philippines and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

David Archer

A funeral Mass for former Vacaville school Trustee David Archer, 60, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville.

Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Oct. 11, 1937, in Oakland, Mr. Archer died Aug. 23, 1998, in John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek after a short illness.

Mr. Archer grew up in Berkeley and served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1959. He was an associate distribution engineer for Pacific Gas & Electric Co. for 28 years.

In 1981, he was voted honorary assistant football coach by the freshman football coaching staff at Will C. Wood.

He was appointed to the Vacaville Unified School District Board of Education in December 1984 and served nearly nine years on the school board before stepping down in 1993.

He spent much of his retirement at his family's home in Lake Tahoe. For the past year, he lived in Pacheco.

Mr. Archer is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dolores; sons, Andy of Bay Point and Matt of Antioch; sister, Nancy Reid of Groton, Conn.; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Oak Park Hills Chapel in Walnut Creek.

Eldon Bennett

Graveside services for Eldon Bennett, 74, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born in Iowa in 1923, Mr. Bennett died after a long illness in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Reno, Nev.

Mr. Bennett was raised in Vallejo and graduated from Vallejo High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II. He then attended the University of California, Los Angeles, and played basketball for the school's team.

After college, Mr. Bennett worked as a high school physical education and mathematics teacher. Retired in Sparks, Nev. He was an avid golfer and loved to read.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his brother, Donald of Shelton, Wash.; his sister and brother-in-law, Evelynne and Allan Tiffany of Vacaville; two nephews; and two nieces.

Arrangements are handled by McCune Garden Chapel.

John 'Jack' Brown

No formal funeral services are scheduled for John "Jack" Brown, 54, of Vacaville.

Mr. Brown died Aug. 23, 1998, at NorthBay Medical Center after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. Burial will be at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.

Born May 3, 1944, in Redondo Beach, Mr. Brown was raised there and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1966. He then worked as a service manager for automobile dealerships in Southern California before moving to Vacaville in 1982.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Madeline Brown; and son, Scott Brown, both of Vacaville.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Northern California Chapter; 520 Third St., Suite 104; Oakland, 94607.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Isabella Tamara Leskauskas

No funeral service is planned for newborn Isabella Tamara Leskauskas, who was born and died Aug. 21, 1998, in Fairfield.

She was the first daughter of Michael and Tina Leskauskas.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brothers, Alex and Austin of Vacaville; maternal grandmother, Judith McPike of Vacaville; paternal grandparents, Ed and Frances of Vacaville; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel.

Donna J. Samuels

Cryptside services for Donna J. Samuels, 80, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.

The Rev. Stan Sanderson will preside.

Born Aug. 25, 1917, in Illinois, Mrs. Samuels died Aug. 22, 1998, at Sunrise La Mariposa after a long illness. She lived in Fairfield for 45 years.

Mrs. Samuels worked as a secretary in civil service for 50 years.

She is survived by her sisters, Tesse Dick of Stockton and Pauline LeCrone of Decatur, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Henry Sanchez

At his request, no funeral services are planned for Henry Sanchez, 75. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Sanchez died Aug. 22, 1998, in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born Jan. 2, 1923, in Cabazon, he moved to Fairfield 37 years ago. He worked for the U.S. Air Force for 25 years and retired as a master sergeant. He served in World War II in the Pacific and he participated in the Berlin Airlift. He also served in Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. Sanchez worked as manager of Silverado Furniture Store in Fairfield and in Napa.

He was a member of the Suisun Valley Lions Club for more than 20 years and served as the club's president for a time. He was a lifetime member of the Lions Eye Foundation. Mr. Sanchez loved to bowl and travel.

Mr. Sanchez is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maria Sanchez of Fairfield; sisters, Maggie Miranda of Banning, Francis Walker of Montclair and Irene Swalley of Overton, Nev.; brothers, John of Hemet, Louis of Cherry Valley and Manuel of Beaumont; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frances G. Strauman

No funeral services are scheduled for Frances G. Strauman, 87, of Vacaville, who died Aug. 22, 1998, in Vallejo after a brief illness.

She will be buried in Rockville Cemetery.

Born May 5, 1911, in Fairfield, Mrs. Strauman lived the past 63 years in Vacaville. A homemaker for 66 years, she loved to read and tend her garden.

Mrs. Strauman is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Ken Leiberman of Ithaca, N.Y., and Yvonna and Don Powell of Vacaville; sisters, Marie Adams of Sonoma and Ina Claire Escano and Dorothy Gojkovich, both of Vacaville; brother, Bud Freitas of Fairfield; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mary V. Campbell

Graveside services for Mary V. Campbell, 81, of Vacaville will be at Demopolis Memorial Cemetery in Demopolis, Ala.

Born Dec. 22, 1916, in Alabama, Mrs. Campbell died Aug. 25, 1998, at NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.

She was a homemaker and a member of AARP. She lived in Vacaville for five years.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Susan of Vacaville; granddaughter, Christina Pruitt of Virginia Beach, Va.; and grandsons, Andrew and Michael Campbell of Vacaville.

Arrangements are by Fairfield Funeral Home.

Jose Martinez Campos

Graveside services for Jose Martinez Campos, 70, of Winters will be 10 a.m. today at Winters Cemetery.

Born April 17, 1928, in Almeria, Spain, Mr. Campos died Aug. 23, 1998, in his Winters home.

Mr. Campos lived in Winters for 44 years. He worked for 27 years at Basic Vegetable Products in Vacaville. He was a member of IBERICO de Espana.

Mr. Campos was an avid gardener and was noted for his tomatoes. He also enjoyed bicycling, riding his bicycle about 10 miles a day. He also enjoyed camping and dancing.

Mr. Campos is survived by his wife, Mary of Winters; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Robin of Winters; son, John of San Francisco; daughter, Isabel and her fiance, Scott Kusumoto of Mammoth Lakes; grandchildren, Joey, Daniel, Cody and Anna, all of Winters; sisters, Maria and Anita of Spain; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Lynn and brother, Antonio.

Visitation was held Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Arrangements are handled by Smith's Colonial Chapel in Winters.

Mary S. Haberman

Funeral services for Mary S. Haberman, 74, of Fairfield will be 5 p.m. Monday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

Family members will officiate. Burial will be in Skyview Memorial Lawn in Vallejo.

Born Nov. 21, 1923, in  Jackson Parish, La., Mrs. Haberman died Aug. 24, 1998, at home after a long illness.

She lived in Fairfield for 45 years and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Haberman is survived by her daughter, Joanne Parke of Fairfield; sons, Charles and Lynn, both of Fairfield; six brothers; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

Barbara Jean 'Bobbie' Smith

Funeral services for Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Smith, 71, of Fairfield will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Church of Christ in Fairfield.

The Rev. Stan Sanderson will officiate. Burial will be in Rockville Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith died Aug. 23, 1998, at Mount Diablo Hospital in Concord following a brief illness.

Born Oct. 25, 1926, in Westwood, Mrs. Smith moved to Fairfield 46 years ago. A homemaker until her youngest daughter began high school, Mrs. Smith went to work for the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District in the food services department of Fairfield High School. She retired in 1987 after 10 years.

Mrs. Smith, who enjoyed making crafts at home, was a member of the Church of Christ and was very active in the World Bible School as a worker and teacher.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Shirley H. Smith of Fairfield; daughters, Sue Maier of Los Alamos, N.M., Deborah Kincaid of Sacramento and Renee Kersting of Fairfield; son, Richard Darrell Smith of Kennewick, Wash.; mother, Flora De Long of Napa; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
