Francis C. Reyes

A Mass of the resurrection for Francis C. "Zak" Reyes, 51, of Fairfield, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fairfield.

Interment will follow at Rockville Cemetery. Pastor Sebastian Meyer will officiate.

Born Oct. 10, 1946, in Vallejo, Mr. Reyes died Sept. 18, 1998, at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base.

A resident of Fairfield and Solano County all of his life, Mr. Reyes was employed by Caltrans, where he was a toll sergeant.

He is survived by his wife, Jannice of Fairfield; daughters, Jennifer and Sarah of Fairfield; brothers, John of Vallejo, Tanner of Buena Park, Leo of El Dorado Hills and Albert of Vallejo; sisters, Faye, Ramona, Norma Leon and Anthonette Borges all of Vallejo, Esther Green of Panama City, Fla., and Lily Sanchez of Pinole; father- and mother-in-law, Elmer and Bernice DeMartile of Cordelia; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Susan DeMartile of Fairfield, Brian and Kathy DeMartile of Benicia, and Tim and Marcey DeMartile of Cordelia.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home in Vacaville.

Christine Sybyst

A memorial service for Christine Sybyst, 34, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

A private inurnment will follow.

Born April 17, 1964, at Tachikawa Air Force Base in Japan, Ms. Sybyst died Sept. 17, 1998 at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield.

A longtime resident of Fairfield, Ms. Sybyst graduated from Fairfield High School in 1982. She worked for Valley Waste Management in Walnut Creek for 10 years until 1997 and then for Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek in sales and marketing for the past year.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather Townsend of Suisun City; her parents, Kenneth and Marie of Fairfield; her sister and brother-in-law Kathleen and Terry Gillenwater of Suisun City; and her nephews, Terry and Beau Gillenwater of Suisun City.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402.

Sherry Lynn Williams

Memorial services for Sherry Lynn Williams, 46, of South Lake Tahoe will be 2 p.m. today at Vaca Hills Chapel in Vacaville.

There will be a memorial in South Lake Tahoe at a later date. Inurnment will be private.

The Rev. Milton Steck of Trinity Baptist Church will officiate.

Born Dec. 18, 1951, at Travis Air Force Base, she died Sept. 17, 1998, in South Lake Tahoe.

She managed the Marie Callender's Restaurant in South Lake Tahoe and resided in that city for the past 10 years.

Ms. Williams had a love of reading and enjoyed spending time with her grandson and nephews.

She is survived by her parents, Mellie and Curtis Williams; sister, Patricia; brother, Scott; daughter and son-in-law, Kendra and Brian Just; and grandson, Chase Alexander Simmons.

Survivors also include her nephews, Kyle Curtis Ash and Joseph Scott Williams; aunts and uncles, Isabel and Joseph Munoz, and John and Rose Lopez; longtime companion, Mike Skubick; and numerous cousins.

Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Harold T. Anderson

Memorial services for Harold T. Anderson, 81, of Vacaville will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at McCune Garden Chapel.

The Rev. Leo Nelson will officiate.

Mr. Anderson will be buried alongside his wife at the National Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Born Dec. 5, 1916, in Chase, Kan., Mr. Anderson died Sept. 17, 1998, at his Vacaville home after a sudden illness.

He was a U.S. Air Force pilot for 20 years. He later worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as a flight procedures instructor for 16 years.

He was a member of the American Legion of Vacaville, the American Association of Retired Persons and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

He enjoyed flying, working on his computer, model airplanes and wood carving.

He is survived by his son, Mark of  Oklahoma City; daughter, Lisa Klein of New York; sons, Remy Archuletta of Hawaii and Jaime Archuletta of Nevada; grandsons, Charlie Archuletta of Nevada and Jacob Klein of New York; brothers, Karl of Colorado and Clair of  Oklahoma; a nephew and three nieces.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of Ruth Bradanini, 290 Fruitvale, Vacaville 95688.

Carl Frederick Hanson

Memorial services for Carl Frederick Hanson, 67, of Fairfield will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the family residence.

Inurnment will be private.

Born Dec. 8, 1930, in Balsam Lake, Wis., Mr. Hanson died Sept. 16, 1998, at Travis Air Force Base after a long illness.

He lived in Fairfield for 25 years. He retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force after 25 years of service. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars while in the Air Force and was in charge of radio maintenance.

He loved reading and trips to Bodega Bay.

He is survived by his wife, Angela of Fairfield; daughter, Mary Goodwin of Tampa, Fla.; sons, David of southern California, Michael of Spokane, Wash., and James; sisters, Jean Fletcher of Missouri and Edna Laman of Bowling Green, Ky.; sister and brother-in-law Nellie and John Gustafson of Spokane; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Susanne of Gilroy and Cliff and Ruth of Minnesota; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dorothy J. Hunkins

Interment will be private for Dorothy J. Hunkins, 82, of Vacaville.

There will be no funeral services.

Born July 11, 1916, in Rochester, N.Y., Mrs. Hunkins died Sept. 17, 1998, in Vacaville.

She was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Jan of Vacaville; grandchildren, Sean and Kelsey of Vacaville; nieces, Dorothy Sheilds of Rio Nido, Patricia Sheilds of Walnut Creek and Sheila Clark of Laramie, Wyo.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Aid Society, P.O. Box 1824, Sacramento 95812.

James Jiongo

A memorial service for James Jiongo, 65, of Vacaville will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at McCune Garden Chapel.

The Rev. Milton Steck of Trinity Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be private.

Mr. Jiongo died Sept. 19, 1998, at VacaValley Hospital after a brief illness.

Born Nov. 28, 1932, in Ramsey, Mich., he moved to Vacaville 35 years ago.

He served as a load master in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years and worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for 12 years.

An avid reader and traveler, Mr. Jiongo journeyed across the United States several times.

Survivors include his wife, Gisela; daughters, Petra Gibson of Newport News, Va., and Evelyn Cunningham of Vallejo; sons, Eugene of Solano County and Michael of Portland, Ore.; brother, Edward of Houston,  Texas; sister, Janet Tusa of Minnesota; nine grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402.

Alberto C. Concepcion

Funeral services for Alberto C. Concepcion, 75, of Fairfield will be held in Manila, the Philippines.

Born Aug. 7, 1923, in the Philippines, Mr. Concepcion died Sept. 20, 1998, at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base.

Mr. Concepcion was employed with Bonifaction Motor Co. as a mechanic for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Leonila of Fairfield; children, Isabelita Fajardo, Rosalia Albarez, Rodolfo, Rhodora Envegelista and Roberto, all of the Philippines, and Rosella Arnedo of Fairfield; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Ruth A. Manasseri

A memorial service for Ruth A. Manasseri, 73, of Suisun City will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Fairfield Christian Reformed Church. The Rev. David Zandstra will officiate. Inurnment will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Nazareth, Pa.

Born Feb. 28, 1925, in Nazareth, Mrs. Manasseri died Sept. 17, 1998, at Mount Diablo Medical Center in Concord.

A resident of Suisun City for the past 18 years, she graduated from Nazareth High School in 1943 and St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Bethlehem, Pa., in 1946. She worked as a registered nurse at Easton Hospital in  Pennsylvania. She retired from Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco.

Mrs. Manasseri was a member of the Fairfield Christian Reformed Church, the secretary of the Senior Citizens Club of Fairfield and a member of the Lions Club of Suisun City. She loved animals and supported many humane and wildlife organizations.

She is survived by her brother, Charles A. Werner of Nazareth, Pa.; stepson, Benny of Pen Argyl, Pa.; stepdaughters, Nancy and Diane of North Carolina; aunt, Beatrice Gordon of Orefield, Pa.; one nephew, two great-nieces; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many close friends in the Suisun City and Fairfield areas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benny and her stepson, Charles.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Joan L. VanAssen

A Catholic Prayer Service for Joan L. VanAssen, 61, of Fairfield will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela of Holy Spirit Catholic Church will officiate. Inurnment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born Sept. 13, 1937, in Boston, Mrs. VanAssen died Sept. 19, 1998, at Sunrise Health Care.

A resident of Fairfield for four years, she was a label inspector for F.P. West Print. She was also a former resident of Boston for 30 years and San Bruno for 13 years.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she loved shopping with her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Henry of Fairfield; daughters, Anne Marie Pacheco of Fairfield and JoAnne Marston of Chantilly, Va.; sons, Michael of Sacramento, James of Everett, Mass., and Edward Lebrocquy of Suisun City; sister, Sandy McLoud of New Hampshire; brother, Charles Varney of  Texas; and nine grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1652 W.  Texas St. No. 10, Fairfield 94533.

James C. Contreras

A Catholic Prayer Service for James C. Contreras, 80, of Vacaville will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at McCune Garden Chapel. The Rev. Benedict DeLeon of St. Mary's Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born June 19, 1918, in San Francisco, Mr. Contreras died Sept. 22, 1998, in Vacaville.

A resident of Vacaville for nine years, Mr. Contreras was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. After four years in the military, he went to work for Parisian Bakery as a route salesman and retired after 22 years with the company. He was an avid reader, loved playing golf and was very proficient in the martial arts, namely kung fu and tai chi.

He is survived by his wife, Lucia of Vacaville; son, Jose Nives of San Leandro; sisters, Carmen Leiva of Mariposa, Delores Reese of South San Francisco; brothers, Gabriel of Vacaville, Leonard of Anderson, Joseph of Vacaville, John of South San Francisco and Anthony of Woodland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to VacaValley Hospital c/o NorthBay Healthcare Foundation, 1200 B. Gale Wilson Blvd. Fairfield 94533.

Michael Lloyd Edwards Sr.

Funeral services for Michael Lloyd Edwards Sr., 47, of Suisun City will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Fairfield-Suisun Cemetery. Interment will follow.

Born Aug. 27, 1951, in San Rafael, Mr. Edwards died Sept. 19, 1998, in Fairfield.

Mr. Edwards served in the Army from 1970 to 1972. He worked as an independent carpenter at various locations in the past 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Jane of Suisun City; daughters, Toshiko of Sacramento and Amy of Suisun City; son, Michael Lloyd of Suisun City; stepsons, Wayne Goddard of Modesto and William Watkins of Suisun City; stepdaughter, Michelle Hanson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; parents, Richard of Belmont and Betty of Carson City; brothers, James of Carson City, Nev., Russell of Truckee, Greg of Belmont and Jeff of Incline Village, Nev.; sisters, Gaile Hamlin and Shirley Stodeck, both of Carson City and Jo Hughes of Talhlequah, Okla.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 .m. Friday at Fairmont Memorial Park Chapel.

Michael Allen Maatta

A memorial service for Michael Allen Maatta, 50, of Fairfield will be held on Oct. 17 at St. Frances Lutheran Church in San Francisco. Inurnment will be at Cyprus Lawn Cemetery in Colma.

Born Oct. 23, 1947, in San Francisco, Mr. Maatta died Sept. 21, 1998, in Fairfield.

A resident of Fairfield for 14 years, he served in the Air Force for four years, from 1966 to 1970. Mr. Maatta worked as an inventory supervisor for Valley Inventory Services in Fairfield for the past 12 years.

He is survived by his mother, Viola of San Francisco; sister, Judith Bailey of Fairfield; and daughter, Michelle of California.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Sue Torres

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sue Torres will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Dixon. Interment will be at Silveyville Cemetery.

Born Oct. 25, 1953, in Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Torres died Sept. 22, 1998, in Dixon.

A resident of Dixon for 20 years, she worked for the A Street Deli for four years and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Larry of Dixon; daughters, Jessica of Chico and Dawnielle of Dixon; mother, Dorothy  Johnson of Hayward; sisters, Linda Lamendola and Patti Worley, both of Livermore, Christine Ferraris of Vacaville and Lori Bettencourt of Boone, Iowa; cousin, Jeannette Hall of Ripon; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon with a rosary at 7 p.m.
