William W. Spires

No funeral services were held for William W. Spires, 84, of Vacaville, who died Dec. 12, 1998, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Sacramento of heart failure.

Mr. Spires was cremated Dec. 18 at the Memory Chapel in Placerville.

Born July 25, 1914, in Chico, he was a grandson of an early settler of Glenn County. Mr. Spires worked as a mechanic and clerk for 25 years at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento before retiring in 1976 to Placerville.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Betty, of Placerville; his adopted son and daughter-in-law, Bret and Tammy Spires and their daughter Megan of Sacramento; daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Lee Renninger of Vacaville; brother, Donald of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Margaret Smith of Sacramento; three granddaughters in Vacaville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Spires was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude; daughter Sandra; and sisters Billie Gobel and Babe Tedrick.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Diana Carol Britt

Funeral services for Diana Carol Britt, 52, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Mrs. Britt died Dec. 26, 1998, in Vacaville after a short illness. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born April 15, 1946, in Vallejo, she moved to the area in 1978. She was a registered nurse for 19 years.

Mrs. Britt is survived by her husband, Ray William Britt of Vacaville; mother, Sara Haines of Fairfield; sister, Linda Summers of San Diego; son, Jeremy Youngberg of Vacaville and grandson, Jeremiah Youngberg of Vacaville.

Visitation is Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Vaca Hills Chapel.

Patrick Joseph Connolly

A Mass of Christian Burial for Patrick Joseph Connolly, 75, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly will officiate. Burial will follow at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

A rosary will be recited today at 7 p.m. at the McCune Garden Chapel. Friends are invited to pay their respects at the chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Mr. Connolly died Dec. 27, 1998, in Fairfield after a brief illness.

Born Dec. 28, 1922, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he moved to Vacaville in 1987. After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Connolly attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and then worked for the state of California as the commissioner of the Department of Savings and Loans.

He was a member of the Vacaville SIRS, the Leisure Town Men's Club and the Leisure Town Men's Golf Club. He enjoyed reading, traveling, golf and visiting his grandchildren. He also did volunteer work with AARP, preparing taxes for senior citizens.

Mr. Connolly is survived by his wife, Monetta of Vacaville; sons, Robert of Fairfield and James of Santa Rosa; daughter, Patricia Tamborski of Antioch; sister, Mary Cua of Pittsburgh; brother, Sylvester of Long Beach; five grandchildren, four nephews and three nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 290 Fruitvale Road, Vacaville 95688, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Jack G. Dewsen Sr.

Memorial services with military honors for Jack G. Dewsen Sr., 73, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

F & AM of Suisun Lodge No. 55 will officiate. A private burial will be in Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.

Mr. Dewsen died Dec. 28, 1998, at NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.

Born March 29, 1925, in Ridley Park, Pa., he moved to Fairfield in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later joined the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1950 until 1968. He was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Mr. Dewsen also worked as a veteran service officer for Solano County for 17 years until his retirement.

Mr. Dewsen was a member of the Freemasons, Suisun Lodge No. 55, the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2333 Fairfield-Suisun. He was also a member and former chairman of Solano County Veterans Employment Community since 1980.

He is survived by his sons, Deo of Grass Valley and Jack Jr. of Watsonville; stepson, Colin Van Loon of Kansas City; daughter, Tara Wight of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

Constance Ruth Harless

Funeral services for Constance "Connie" Ruth Harless, 34, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Church in Pinole. Disposition will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in San Pablo. A fellowship will follow the burial.

Born March 24, 1964, in San Francisco, Ms. Harless died Dec. 18, 1998, in Yolo County after a traffic accident.

A secretary with United Airlines for five years, she was a Vacaville resident for 10 years. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her 9-year-old son. She also spent her spare time volunteering at Alamo Elementary School in the classrooms and at fund-raisers.

She is survived by her son, Ryan Lee Harless of Vacaville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steven Lee and Carol Harless of Vacaville and Timothy Bernard and Kathy Harless of Pleasant Hill; parents, Bernard and Ruth Harless of Pinole; nieces and nephews, Craig, Chris, Carrie, Lenea, Joey, Wayne and Sean; cousins, Gary, Linda, Danny, Mary, Janie, Carol, Mikey, Joe, Steven, Mike, Jim; and her roommate, CariSoriano of Vacaville.

William F. Heise Sr.

Funeral services for William Frederick Heise Sr., 83, of Sacramento will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Terzich & Wilson Funeral Home.

Burial will be in San Joaquin National Cemetery.

Mr. Heise died Dec. 27, 1998, in Kaiser Hospital in Sacramento.

Born April 3, 1915, in Nponset, Ill., he lived in Vacaville for 36 years. He worked as a correctional counselor for the Department of Corrections for 27 years and was ordained as an elder in the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Heise was a World War II and Korean War veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. He was named a Good Samaritan of Vacaville and was involved in the Little League of Columbia. He was also a coach in the American Legion of Vacaville.

Mr. Heise is survived by his wife, Elaine of Sacramento; sons, William of Sonora, Robert of Copperopolis and Benjamin of Angels Camp; daughter, Belle Anne Woodworth of Sacramento; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Loreto Olivares

Funeral services for Loreto Olivares, 49, of Woodland will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Dixon.

The Rev. Maurice O'Brien will officiate. Burial will be in Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Olivares died Dec. 24, 1998, in his home in Woodland after a long illness.

Born July 12, 1949, in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico, Mr. Olivares moved to Woodland three years ago. Before that, he lived in Dixon. He worked for the past eight years at the Cable Car Wash.

Mr. Olivares is survived by his wife, Maria of Woodland; children, Atanacia Olivares and Lupe Garcia of Woodland and Fernando of Dixon.

Phyllis E. Wheeler

Funeral services for Phyllis E. Wheeler, 69, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Stan Sanderson will officiate. A private burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery in Vallejo.

Mrs. Wheeler died Dec. 26, 1998, at her residence in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born March 31, 1929, in Mansfield, Mo., she moved to Vallejo in 1949 and later to Fairfield. Mrs. Wheeler worked for the Travis Unified School District as a school secretary until she retired in 1990 after 26 years of service.

She is survived by her husband, E.D. "Bud" Wheeler of Fairfield; son, Dennie of Coos Bay, Ore.; sister and brother in-law, Barbara and Raymond Moody of El Cajon; granddaughter, Sandra Girard of Everett and three great-grandchildren.

Frank Addiego

Funeral services for Frank Addiego, 93, of El Cerrito will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Jerome's Church in El Cerrito. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in San Pablo.

Born Feb. 28, 1905, in Verbicaro, Italy, Mr. Addiego died Dec. 29, 1998, in El Cerrito.

Mr. Addiego served in the Italian National Army during World War II, and moved to El Cerrito in 1955 where he worked as a groundskeeper at Mira Vista Country Club.

He is survived by his sons, Guido of Vacaville, Salvatore and Guisepe of El Cerrito and Mario of Redding; daughters, Gracia Dito of El Cerrito and Maria Ciarabellini of El Sobrante; 12 grandchildren, including Susanna, Sandra Over and Frank of Vacaville; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis-Olson Mortuary Inc.

James William Froude

A memorial service for James William Froude, 79, of Vacaville will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Epiphany Episcopal Church. The Rev. Steven Leonetti will officiate. Interment will be private.

Born Oct. 23, 1919, in Jersey City, N.J., Mr. Froude died Dec. 30, 1998, at David Grant Medical Center.

Mr. Froude served for 25 years in the Air Force as a fighter pilot. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He attained the rank of major.

After retirement, he worked as a civilian pilot with many charter airlines. He loved flying and was active at the Travis Air Force Base Aviation Museum as a volunteer.

Mr. Froude was active in the Retired Officers' Association and was a Mason and member of the Scottish Rite Temple. He graduated from Dartmouth College and received a master's degree in sociology from the University of New Hampshire.

He was an active member of Epiphany Episcopal Church, where he served as a lecturer. He lived in Vacaville for two years after living in San Bruno for 15 years. He also lived in the Philippines for nine years.

Mr. Froude is survived by his wife of 31 years, Teresa of Vacaville; sons, Thomas of Winchester, Mass., Jeffrey of Lawton, Okla., Joseph of San Francisco, Jonathan of Sacramento; daughters, Patricia Snyder of Danville, Jacqueline Corwin of Oakland and Johanna of Vacaville; sister, Louise Voegeli of Crescent City; 15 grandchildren and many relatives who live in the Philippines.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Ruth Bradanini, 290 Fruitvale Ave., Vacaville, 95688.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Kei S. Gibson

A memorial service for Kei S. Gibson, 71, of Vacaville will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at her home. Interment will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Dec. 25, 1926, in Japan, Mrs. Gibson died Dec. 22, 1998, in Vacaville.

A Vacaville resident for 39 years, she was a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of the San Jose Makuya Church, and she enjoyed going on walks, reading and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, in 1967.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402.
