Clarice N. Abrie
Graveside services for Clarice N. Abrie, 72, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Monday at Sunset View Mortuary, 101 Colusa Ave., El Cerrito.
Born Dec. 20, 1926, in Oakland, Mrs. Abrie died Jan. 20, 1999, in Vacaville.
A homemaker, Mrs. Abrie was a member of the 10/10 Lodge of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, George; daughters, Sharon Hawk of San Leandro, Nancy Richards of Antioch and Debbie Shepheard of Stockton; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Sunset View Mortuary.
Noble Stanley Woodside
Memorial services for Noble Stanley Woodside, 87, of Fairfield will be 3 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfield.

Born Dec. 9, 1911, in Bakersfield, Mr. Woodside died Jan. 17, 1999, in Fairfield.
A native Californian, Mr. Woodside lived in Fairfield for the past 20 years. As a young man, he worked as a derrick man in the oil fields of Southern California. In his later years, he lived and worked as a maintenance worker at Parkway Plaza in Fairfield. He loved to hunt, fish and go camping, as well as gardening.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Len Wink of Suisun City; son and daughter-in-law, N. Michael and Marion Woodside of Vacaville; sister, Zola Schallock of Bakersfield; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mary Ava King
Funeral services for Mary Ava King, 66, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
Stan Sanderson will officiate. Interment will be at Rockville Cemetery, 4219 Suisun Valley Road.
Born July 18, 1932, in Karlan, Ky., Mrs. King died Jan. 19, 1999, in Vallejo.
A homemaker, Mrs. King lived in Vallejo from 1952 to 1954, and was a member of Moose Lodge No. 861. She recently celebrated 47 years of marriage to Dayl . She was a loving wife and grandmother.
Mrs. King is survived by her husband, Dayl of Fairfield; daughter, Robin Pettay of Kansas; son, Michael of Fairfield; sister, Florence Watson of Idaho; mother, Rachael Noe of Kentucky; and two grandchildren.
Josephine Martinez
A mass of Christian burial for Josephine Martinez, 95, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville.

in Lafayette.
Born Sept. 15, 1903, in Clayton, N.M., Mrs. Martinez died Jan. 21, 1999, in Vacaville.
A resident of Vacaville for two years, she worked for International Printing Inc. as a shipping clerk for 20 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosalie Marsh of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Jim and Maxine Nettles of New Orleans; son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Carolyn of Pleasant Hill; sister-in-law, Charlotte Chavez of Castro Valley; brothers-in-law, John Martinez of New Mexico and Dave Martinez of Oregon; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Louis.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
Ileta M. Salzbrenner
No services will be held for Ileta M. Salzbrenner, 89, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.
Born Jan. 27, 1910, in Swanton, Neb., Mrs. Salzbrenner died Jan. 21, 1999, in Vacaville.
Mrs. Salzbrenner worked for AT&T for more than 30 years, starting as an operator and then becoming an overseas operator. She was promoted to assistant supervisor, where she trained overseas operators. She retired in the early 1970s. Mrs. Salzbrenner also lived in Santa Rosa for 23 years and Oakland for 16 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Turner of Vacaville; son, Louie of Santa Rosa; sisters, Pearl Hodges and Ella Bales of LaJunta, Colo.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie, in 1995.

She worked at David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base and at the Pentagon. She received the highest honor awarded to a civilian by the Navy for meritorious service. She worked as a secretary for St. Anthony's Church in Chesapeake Beach, Md.
Ms. Arehart-Zuidema is survived by her sons, Stephen of Massachusetts and Michael of Virginia; daughters, Kathleen of Walnut Creek and Jeannie Passmore of Vacaville; sisters, Carole Cook, Joyce Wynn and Frances Smith; brother, Neil Arehart; grandchildren, Mandy, Stephanie, Sarah, Ian Zuidema, and Brian and Kevin Passmore.

Mr. Forehand served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946, and was then a captain with the Richmond Fire Department for 31 years before retiring in 1977.
He was a member of the Fairmede Neighbor Alliance Church in Richmond and the Richmond Fire Department Local No. 188. He was an Oakland A's fan and enjoyed camping, fishing and volunteering with his wife at the Richmond Rescue Mission.
He is survived by his daughter, Nell R. Smith of El Cerrito; son, Bill of Oregon; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Rose Mary of Vacaville; granddaughters, Meghan and Lorin, both of Vacaville; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell, in 1995.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Wilson & Kratzer Chapel of the Mission Bell in San Pablo.

Born June 9, 1924, in Washington, D.C., he had lived in Vacaville for the past 25 years.
Mr. Getreu served in the Army for 25 years, retiring as a command sergeant major. After leaving the Army, he worked for the Woodland Unified School District as a maintenance supervisor for more than 16 years.
He was a member of Rakasan's, an Army paratrooper organization, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling.
Mr. Getreu is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Vacaville; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Linda of Newark, Daniel and Patty of Modesto, Jessie and Barbara Cappel of Vacaville, Robert and Sonja Cappel of Placerville, George and Linda Cappel of Vacaville, and Ricky and Del Cappel of Spokane; daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Tim London of Michigan, Dolores and Kenny Roberson of Sparks, Nev., and Mary and Mike Cartas of Suisun; sisters, Helen Higgins of Alabama and Marge O'Connor of Oklahoma; 22 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Born Dec. 22, 1923, in Oroville, he lived 12 years in Vacaville and more than 30 years in Napa County. He served in World War II USNABPD special forces, Lion Six, U.S. Navy, receiving an honorable medical discharge in September 1944 after returning from North Africa.
He retired after many years in the electrical contracting business in St. Helena.
Most of his retirement years were spent as a medic with the volunteer fire department in El Dorado County, Cancer Hospice Society and teaching for the American Red Cross, where he encouraged patients by sharing knowledge that he had gained from being an ostomate for more than 46 years.
He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, United Ostomy Association, serving as both a supporter and a member of the Solano County chapter.
Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ethel; daughter, Carol Sullivan; grandson, Michael Suffia and his wife, Lana; granddaughter, Kimberly Donaldson; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Krystal and Korina Suffia, Zachary and Jacob Donaldson, all of Vacaville; brother, Denzel McDaniel and his wife, Zelma, of Placerville; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Richard Pierce Funeral Service, 1660 Silverado Trail, Napa. Cremation will follow with placement at Tulocay Cemetery.

Dr. Vernon A. Dutra
Funeral services for Dr. Vernon A. Dutra, 80, of Dixon will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Peters Catholic Church in Dixon.
The Rev. Maurice O'Brien will officiate.
Dr. Dutra died Jan. 23, 1999, at his home after a long illness.
Born March 7, 1918, in Sacramento, he was a graduate of the Dixon school system and later graduated from the Columbia College of Chiropractic in 1940. He retired from chiropractic in 1986 after 46 years of practice.
Dr. Dutra, a very active sportsman, was a life member of the North American Hunting Club, National Rifle Association and Harley Owners Group. As a commodore of the Dixon Boat Club, he was appointed the group's first member for life.
Dr. Dutra was a member of the National Chiropractic Association and a charter member of the American Chiropractic Association. He served on the North Bay Society as president for two years, as well as the Solano County grand jury and two years on the Solano County Aviation Board. He retired from the Solano County Sheriff's Department Air Squadron after 25 years, including two as commander, and also was a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Dr. Dutra is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie of Dixon; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Jenny of Napa and Robert and Dawna of Yuba City; grandchildren, Amelia and Anthony of Napa, David, Mark, Eric and Sarah of Yuba City, and Larry Gregory of Sacramento; and great-grandson, Cody Gregory of Sacramento.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

Clara Nelson Hummel
Funeral services for Clara Nelson Hummel, 88, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McCune Garden Chapel. Burial will be in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Mrs. Hummel died Jan. 23, 1999, in San Francisco.
Born July 23, 1910, in Vacaville, Mrs. Hummel lived here for 70 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Vacaville, Saturday Club, NARF and the Native Daughters of Vacaville.
Mrs. Hummel is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Bob Cotter of Petaluma; grandchildren, Jeffrey Crist of Rohnert Park, and Stuart and his wife, Jenifer Crist of Santa Rosa; stepgrandchildren, Kevin, Paul and Jamie Cotter of Petaluma; and great-grandchildren, Ryan and Nicol Crist of Rohnert Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, and her dear friend William Mick.
A visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Louis Clifford Jacobi
Funeral services for Louis Clifford Jacobi, 66, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Masonic Temple in Fairfield.
He will be buried in the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery, where he will be accorded full military honors in a graveside service.
Mr. Jacobi died Jan. 23, 1999, in the Vacaville Convalescent Hospital after a long illness.
Born May 18, 1932, in St. Louis, he served in the Navy as a chief medical corpsman for 24 years, retiring in 1974. From 1978 to 1988, he worked as a teacher at the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo. He played golf with SIRS and the Greentree Leisure Town Men's Group.
A resident of Vacaville for 14 years, he was a member of the Suisun Lodge No. 55, F&AMp;AM; Scottish Rite, Sacramento; Royal Arch Mason Chapter 43; Cryptic Mason, Council No. 29; Knights Templar Commandery No. 38; Shriner-Ben Ali Temple, Sacramento; Montezuma Shrine Club; Ben Ali Past Masters Unit; and SIRS No. 106.
He is survived by his wife, Claire of Vacaville; children, David and wife Marsha of St. Louis and Dana of Vacaville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and John Calcaterra of St. Louis and Gail and Les Schormann of St. Peters, Mo.; brother and sister-in-law, Conrad and Deane of St. Louis; and three grandchildren.

Marguerite Mary Johnson
A memorial service for Marguerite Mary Johnson, 77, of Fairfield will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ in Fairfield.

Mrs. Johnson died Jan. 22, 1999, in Vallejo's Kaiser Permanente Hospital after a short illness.
Born March 6, 1921, in Doniphan, Mo., she worked for the Travis Unified School District for 20 years as a food service manager.
A Fairfield resident for 45 years, she also volunteered at Kaiser Hospital and the clinic in Fairfield and held memberships in the Pacific Telephone Pioneer Club and Wednesday Club.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Leon Creager of Fairfield and Pamela and Jerry Shepard of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Glenda of Fairfield; brother, Mark Pace of Springfield, Mo.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James O., who died in 1990.
