Josephine Martinez

A Mass of Christian Burial for Josephine Martinez, 95, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville.

The Rev. Benedict DeLeon will officiate. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette.

Mrs. Martinez died Jan. 21, 1999, in the Vacaville Convalescent Hospital following a short illness.

Born Sept. 15, 1903, in Clayton, N.M., Mrs. Martinez worked for International Printing Inc. as a shipping clerk for 20 years. She lived in Vacaville for the past two and a half years.

She was survived by children, Rosalie Marsh of Vacaville, Jim and Maxine Nettles of New Orleans, La., and Louis and Carolyn of Pleasant Hill; sister-in-law, Charlotte Chavez of Castro Valley; brothers-in-law, John of New Mexico and Dave of Oregon; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Louis.

Henry 'Hank' Espinosa

Funeral services for Henry 'Hank' Espinosa, 63, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Thursday in McCune Garden Chapel. Interment will be private.

Mr. Espinosa died suddenly Jan. 25, 1999.

Born March 27, 1935, in Vacaville, he resided in Fairfield. He was owner of Espinosa Construction for 30 years and was known for custom residences, commercial buildings and restaurants. He was a member of the Vacaville Museum.

Mr. Espinosa is survived by his wife of 25 years, Monica of Fairfield; son, Dennis of  Washington; sisters, Carmen Cybrowski of Vacaville, Dolores Cerrone of Fairfield and Mary Risso of Vacaville; brother, Lawrence (Babe) Garcia of West Sacramento; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Ottlinger.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in McCune Garden Chapel.

Manuel S. Garcia

Graveside services for Manuel S. Garcia, 81, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Francisco Baraja of the Assembly of God will officiate.

Mr. Garcia died Jan. 23, 1999, at home after an illness.

Born Sept. 4, 1917, in Kingsville,  Texas, he moved to the area 27 years ago. We worked in maintenance with the city of Vacaville. He was a member of the Assembly of God and loved his family dearly.

Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife, Socorro of Vacaville; daughters, Lina Hernandez of Fremont, Elizabeth McDaniel of Hayward and Patricia of Vacaville; sons, Benjamin of Union City and Arthur and Anthony of Vacaville; brother, Tom of Los Angeles; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Nancy Jean Murphy

Mass of Christian Burial for Nancy Jean Murphy, 46, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Travis Air Force Base's Chapel Center.

The Rev. Weber of Travis will officiate. Burial will be in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Murphy died Jan. 22, 1999, at her residence after a long illness.

Born May 14, 1952, in Omaha, Neb., she moved to the area eight years ago. She was employed at Travis for the past eight years.

Mrs. Murphy was active in Vacaville Little League and was an avid supporter of Vanden High Athletics.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by her husband, Dennis K. of Vacaville; sons, Sean and Ryan, both of Vacaville; parents, Frank and Elenore Cyronek of Las Vegas; brothers, Tommy Cyronek of Las Vegas and Frank Cyronek Jr. of Tucson, Ariz.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.

James Michael Carey

Funeral services for James Michael Carey, 54, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church.

The Rev. Herman Leong will officiate. Interment will be private in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Vallejo.

Mr. Carey died Jan. 23, 1999, in Kaiser Hospital.

Born April 29, 1944, in Oakland, he'd resided in Vacaville since 1979. After serving honorably in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, he joined the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department and served there for 30 years, most recently as a deputy sheriff/sergeant major. He worked in patrol, iInvestigations, custody alternative and detention. He was a member of the Contra Costa County Deputy Sheriff's Association and the Vacaville Moose Lodge No. 1967.

Mr. Carey was an avid sports fan and participant. He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, racquetball and golf. He also enjoyed camping and traveling in his recreational vehicle, fishing and cruising. He was a mentor to many young people who continued to be his "kids" throughout his life.

Mr. Carey is survived by his wife, Pam of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mike Fuller of Mount Ranch; son, Bill Green of Vacaville; sisters, Martha Piper of Roseburg, Ore., and Gail Maffei of Penn Valley; and three grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Kaiser Hospice Program, c/o of Kaiser Hospital, 975 Sereno Dr., Vallejo, 94590 or the Make A Wish Foundation, 785 Market St., San Francisco, 94013.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Christopher Cassidy Jr.

Memorial services for Christopher Cassidy Jr., 23, of Dixon will be 1 p.m. today at First Christian Church of Suisun.

The Rev. Randall Roach of First Christian Church will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Cassidy died in an automobile accident Jan. 23, 1999, in Dixon.

Born Dec. 10, 1975, at Vandenberg Air Force Base, he had lived in the Vacaville and Fairfield areas for 15 years. He was a cook for five years, including a short time at Harris Ranch Restaurant in Coalinga.

Mr. Cassidy is survived by his fiancee, Sarah Weeks of Dixon; parents, Sandra Beeby of Coalinga and Christopher Sr. of Chico; maternal grandmother, Marjorie Newell of Coalinga; paternal grandparents, Nancy and Bernard of Santa Maria; sister, Michelle of Sacramento; brothers, Ryan of Coalinga and Kane of Cohassett; and his fiancee's parents, Gerald and Cindy Weeks of Dixon.

Arrangements are by Fairfield Funeral Home.

Frank D. Ellyson

Funeral services for Frank D. Ellyson, 69, of Fairfield will be 3 p.m. Friday in Nazarene Church in Vacaville.

Michael Morrison of Nazarene Church will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Ellyson died Jan. 25, 1999, in Fairfield after a 19-year battle with cancer.

Born Feb. 20, 1929, in Parrish, Ala., he lived in Fairfield for 36 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam. He retired as crew chief from the U.S. Air Force. He was a milkman for Red Top Dairy, a truck driver for Sheldon Oil of Suisun and a truck driver for Truck-A-Way of Vacaville. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and Clan Chattan of the U.S.

Mr. Ellyson is survived by his wife, Tina of Fairfield; children, Annette of Vacaville, Sean of Lafayette, Alicia Trisler of Lodi and Johanna Murphy of Peabody, Mass.; grandchildren, Wallace and Amber Aweau, Crystal Sondreal, Victoria and Rachael Horton, Patsy Trisler and Clayton; great-grandchild, Brooklyn Sondreal; sisters, Margurite Studdard and Ruth Sherer, both of Alabama, Billie Turner of Indiana and Tommye  Johnson of Kentucky.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Vaca Hills Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association or Cancer Society.

Jack M. Jacobs

Memorial services for the Rev. Jack M. Jacobs, 74, of Vallejo will be 7 p.m. Friday in Skyview Funeral Chapel.

The Rev. Thomas Zerse will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Jacobs died Jan. 23, 1999, at his home after a long illness.

Born March 21, 1924, in Harvey, Ill., he lived in Vallejo for 28 years. He served in the U.S. Army, Air Force and World War II. He was an auto service manager for Triangle Dodge for 55 years. He was a member of Oak Forest Lodge No. 832 F&AMp;AM Oak Forest, Ill., Universal Brotherhood Movement, Inc.

Mr. Jacobs is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce of Vallejo; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and William Andrew of Vacaville; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Brandon of Vallejo; sister and brother-in-law Rose Mary and Charles Kickert of South Holland, Ill.; grandchildren, Rebecca of Vallejo and Alexandra Brandon of Vallejo. He was preceded in death by his son, William Jacobs in 1988.

Contributions can be made to Kaiser Hospice, 975 Sereno Dr., Vallejo, 94589.

Mary A. Keener

Funeral services for Mary A. Keener, 85, of Dixon will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Milton Carpenter Home. Burial will be at Silveyville Cemetery.

Mrs. Keener died Jan. 24, 1999.

Born March 17, 1913, in Kansas, she lived in Dixon for 56 years. She was a pastry baker at The Milk Farm from 1949 to 1960. She was involved in the Aurora Rebekah Lodge, Dixon United Methodist Church, Dixon Women's Improvement Club, Meals on Wheels, Telecare, and numerous community activities.

Mrs. Keener was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed outdoor activities, camping and fishing.

Mrs. Keener is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Letha and James Bounds of Dixon; daughter, Dorothy Gibson of Fallon, Nev.; sisters, Cora Welch of Kansas and Florence David of Wyoming; grandchildren, Beverly and J.B. Tamplen, Barbara and Gary Moore, James and Sally Bounds Jr., Robert and Barbara Clouse, J.R. and Joanie Gibson, Guy and Dawn Gibson, Pam Forest and Susan Thompson; great-grandchildren, Terri and Mike Peters, Jeffery Tamplen, Gary and Misty Moore, James III and Jason Bounds, Vanessa Parrish, Cody, Casey and Travis Gibson and Andrew DeLaney; great-great-grandchildren, Quinsea, Michael and Baylie Peters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Thompson; son, Forest Ray Thompson; sisters, Viola and Mildred; brothers, Bud and Cy; grandson, William Clouse III; and great-great-granddaughter, Kelsea Peters.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 tonight in Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to a charity of their choice.

Dolores 'Dodie' Lucas

A Mass of Christian Burial for Dolores "Dodie" Lucas, 66, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

The Rev. Kevin McBrien will preside. Entombment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lucas died Jan. 25, 1999, in her home after a long illness.

Born Jan. 21, 1933, in San Rafael, she lived in Fairfield for 28 years. She was a former resident of Novato and attended school and grew up there. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of YLI Ladies group of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Carmelites Ministry Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Golden Dome Seniors Fairfield Chapter Our Lady.

Mrs. Lucas is survived by husband of 43 years, Robert of Fairfield; daughters, Kim Kempster of Redding, Sheri Duenas of Vacaville, Lynn Metcalf of Fairfield and Katie Tong of Suisun; son, Robert II of Suisun; sister, Katherine Wynne of Beaverton, Ore.; brothers, Edward DeMaestri of Fairfax and Daniel DeMaestri of Denver,  Colo.; and 15 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Christen Marie Silvia

A private memorial service was held on Jan. 2 for Christen Marie Silvia of Vacaville.

The Rev. Oliver Jay Abrams, Christen's great-grandfather, performed the service. No formal services will be held.

Christen died at birth on Dec. 28, 1998, at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo.

Christen is survived by her parents, Brian and Rebecca of Vacaville; sisters, Melissa of Vacaville and Brianna of Idaho; grandmother, Wendy of Vacaville; grandfather, Leonard Jr. of Tustin; grandparents, Larry and Jeannie Dowden of Vacaville; grandfather, Paul Abrams of Vacaville; great-grandparents, Marie Carroll of Folsom, Norman Carroll of Sacramento, Florence of Massachusetts, Leonard Sr., of Massachusetts, the Rev. Jay and Betty Abrams of Paradise and Anita Edwards of Napa; great-great grandparents, Eva of Massachusetts and Nofrio and Marie Noto of Massachusetts; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Edith C. Stockbridge

Memorial services for Edith C. Stockbridge, 95, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Jehovah's Kingdom Hall. Inurnment will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Livermore.

Mrs. Stockbridge died Jan. 23, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center.

Born Nov. 12, 1903, in Redford, Mich., she resided in Fairfield for 24 years. She was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Jehovah's Kingdom Hall.

Mrs. Stockbridge is survived by her sons, Reginald and Kenneth of Fairfield and Wesley and Donovan of Florida; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Fairfield Funeral Home.

Floyd Dwayne Stowers

Memorial services for Floyd Dwayne Stowers, 47, of Santa Rosa will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at McCune Garden Chapel. Inurnment will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born May 16, 1951, in Woodland, Mr. Stowers died Jan. 21, 1999, at Redwood House in Santa Rosa.

He lived in Vacaville for 18 years, and was a resident of Vallejo and Santa Rosa for the remainder of his life. He enjoyed riding his bicycle from Vallejo to Vacaville and sometimes to Woodland to visit family.

He is survived by his twin brother, Lloyd Wayne of Vacaville; sisters, Betty Jean of Fairfield, Frances Ann of Red Bluff, Dora Marie Caballero of Red Bluff; two uncles; three nieces; five nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick in 1984 and his mother, Velda in 1996.
