Pearl Garrett

Memorial services for Pearl Garrett, 79, of Suisun will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairfield Funeral Home.

Pastor Chuck McKinney of First Christian Church of Suisun will officiate. Mrs. Garrett's ashes will be scattered at sea.

Mrs. Garrett died Jan. 23, 1999, in the SunRise LaMariposa facility after a short illness.

Born June 3, 1919, in Vicksburg, Miss., she resided in Suisun for six years. She retired as a maid for U.C. San Francisco Hospital after 15 years.

Mrs. Garrett is survived by her daughter, Brenda Williams of Suisun; grandson, Donnell; one great-great-grandchild; several cousins, nieces and nephews, all of San Francisco.

Raul Lopez

A Mass of Christian Burial and Prayer Service for Raul Lopez, 62, of Fairfield is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Private inurnment will take place at the Suisun Fairfield Cemetery.

Mr. Lopez died Jan. 24, 1999, at NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.

Born April 11, 1936, in Juarez, Mexico, and raised in El Paso,  Texas, he lived in Fairfield for 40 years. He worked as an orchard ranch foreman for 29 years.

Mr. Lopez is survived by his sisters and brother-in-laws, Minnie V. and Phil Mannetti and Carol and Charlie Reed, all of Fairfield; cousin, Juan Cisneros of Suisun; nieces, Teresa D. Mannetti and Lana M. Vargas, both of Fairfield, and Christina R. Rae of Illinois; and additional aunts and cousins.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Edna B. Franklin Myers

No services are scheduled for Edna B. Franklin Myers, 68, of Vacaville, at her request.

Mrs. Myers died Jan. 18, 1999, in Concord after a long illness.

Born Aug. 19, 1930, in Canton, Ohio, she moved to the area in 1940. She graduated from Vacaville High School in 1947.

She worked at Edwards Air Force Base and Travis Air Force Base in the finance department and at Basic Vegetable in the accounts payable department.

Mrs. Myers loved to play pool at the Vacaville Moose Lodge, play cards, shop and watch television. She also loved having her family and friends visit with her.

Mrs. Myers is survived by her granddaughter and caretaker, Andrea Hilas of Concord; son, Blake Chapman of Sausalito; son and daughter-in-law, Laurence and Kelly Littleton of Santa Rosa; daughter and son-in-law, Terri and John Bedson; sister, Arlene Dodson of Vacaville; grandchildren, Aaron, Jared and Chelsey Littleton of Vacaville and Neal and Jeff Chapman of Vacaville; nephew, John Dodson and wife Carol of Vacaville; grandnephew, John W. Dodson of San Diego and grandniece, Kari Diener and her husband Bill of Lower Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde L. Myers; father and mother, Luke and Christina Franklin; and brother, Benjamin Franklin.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vacaville Moose Lodge.

Norman W. Smeenk

Funeral services for Norman William Smeenk, 60, of Green Valley will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Stan Sanderson of Church of Christ will officiate. Interment with full military honors will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Golden Gate National Cemetery, 1300 Sneath Lane in San Bruno.

Born Aug. 27, 1938, in Cheyenne, Wyo., Mr. Smeenk died Jan. 23, 1999, at home.

A resident of Green Valley for 11 years, Mr. Smeenk attended the University of California, Berkeley. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration with honors at Golden Gate University. He served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1986 and retired as a lieutenant colonel. While in the Air Force, he worked as a navigator, flight officer and staff officer. From 1986 to 1998, he worked as the project manager for Smeenk Construction in Santa Cruz. From 1994 to 1997 he worked as a real estate appraiser for Frank May Company. Mr. Smeenk enjoyed skiing, racquetball, nature, camping and mountain climbing.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela of Green Valley; daughter, Lisa of Berkeley; son, John of San Francisco; father, William of Stoneyford; sister and brother-in-law, Meridith and Gary Neiman of Winterhaven, Fla.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Sharon of Aptos and Harry and Mary of Santa Cruz; aunts, Alice Hixenbaugh of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Christine MacLeod of Walnut Creek; uncle, Henry of Cheyenne, Wyo.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American cancer Society, 1652 W.  Texas St. in Fairfield, 94533.

James P. Archer

Memorial services for James P. Archer, 72, of Rancho Cordova will be 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Rancho Cordova.

Mr. Archer died Jan. 28, 1999, in Rancho Cordova.

Born July 2, 1926, in Bergenfield, N.J., he resided in Rancho Cordova for three years and was a Fairfield resident for 29 years. He was a World War II veteran of the Seabees, and worked as an aircraft mechanic for 39 years.

Mr. Archer enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

Mr. Archer is survived by his wife, Mickey; sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Jacqueline of Anchorage, Alaska, and Kenneth and Barbara of Fairfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Gregg of Montgomery, Minn., and Mary and Frank of Colorado Springs,  Colo.; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Foster of Arlington, Va.; and brothers, Nelson of Florida and Jackie of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Marie; daughters, Anna and Kathy; a son, James P. Jr.

Arrangements are by East Lawn Rancho Cordova Chapel.

Ralph Fontain Middleton

Funeral services for Ralph Fontain Middleton, 66, of Fairfield will be 1:30 p.m. today in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Mike Stonestreet and the Rev. Bill Burkey will preside. Interment will be in Rockville Cemetery.

Mr. Middleton died Jan. 27, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center.

Born April 1, 1932, in Lake Village, Ark., he resided in Fairfield for 34 years. He worked for Pacific Mechanics and was in construction for 42 years. He was a former resident of Vallejo before moving to Fairfield. He was a member of the Local 549 Boilermakers Union; Masonic Lodge of Pittsburg; and Calvary Baptist Church.

Mr. Middleton is survived by his wife, Ruby "Lee" of Fairfield; daughter, Tina of Fairfield; sons, Mark Montgomery and Michael Ralph, both of Fairfield; sister, Etta Mercer of Bastrop, La.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol Newkirk Howell

A memorial service for Carol Newkirk Howell, 88, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. today in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Vic Jenkins of Unity Church of the Valley will officiate. Inurnment will be private in the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Howell died Jan. 27, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a long illness.

Born May 24, 1910, in Clinton, Okla., she lived in Fairfield for 45 years. She worked for more than 10 years as the director of garden display for the Solano County Fair. She was a member of the Geranium City Garden Club of Fairfield and Shibui Arrangers Guild of Fairfield. She was an accredited floral judge. She volunteered regularly at the Fairfield Senior Center and gift shop.

Mrs. Howell enjoyed traveling and flower and garden arranging. She enjoyed participating in Senior Center activities.

Mrs. Howell is survived by her son, Wallace of Midland,  Texas; cousins, Betty Overton of Virginia and Peggy Hale of  Oklahoma; and many loving friends in the area. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Trux" Gilbert Pierre, in 1981.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association of Contra Costa and Solano counties, 105 Astrid Drive, Pleasant Hill 95402.

Henri B. Wallace

A memorial Mass was held for Henri B. Wallace, 79, of Fairfield on Jan. 15 at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Inurnment was private.

Mr. Wallace died Dec. 23, 1998, in Sunrise Health Center after a long illness.

Born April 30, 1919, in Ontario, Canada, he lived in Fairfield for three years. He previously lived in Daly City for two years.

Mr. Wallace is survived by his wife, Isabelle Alonso of Fairfield; seven children, all of Canada; three sisters; and two brothers.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Sampson Lee

Funeral services for Sampson Lee, 39, of Fairfield will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Martin Bergstrom will officiate. Interment will be at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa.

Born Dec. 6, 1959, in San Francisco, Mr. Lee died Jan. 25, 1999, in Fairfield.

A resident of Fairfield for 10 years, Mr. Lee graduated from University of California, Berkeley, and worked as an accountant for several companies - the last one being Whole Earth Networks. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, he was a "computer nut" and enjoyed the present era of computers.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia of Fairfield; daughter, Alicia of Fairfield; son, Anthony of Fairfield; sisters, Karen Szeto and Nora Lee, both of San Francisco; mother, S. Lee of San Francisco; father, Richard Lee of San Francisco.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2075 Dover Ave.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, Fairfield Branch, 1652 W.  Texas St., Suite 110, Fairfield 94533.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Noelleen Joy Gonzales

A memorial Mass for Noelleen Joy Gonzales, 52, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate.

There will be a private interment at the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery in Fairfield.

Born Dec. 24, 1946, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Miss Gonzales died at her Santa Monica home Jan. 18, 1999, after a long illness.

She moved to Fairfield in 1946.

She graduated from Armijo High School in 1964 and from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1969 with a degree in English.

She worked as a human resources manager at UCLA for the past 29 years.

She is survived by her parents, Raymond and Myra of Fairfield; sisters, Myra Ann of San Diego and Lisa of Davis; brothers, Raymond of Hadlock, Wash., Michael of Mountain View and Patrick of Albany, Wis.; godparents, Louise and Joseph Alameda of Sacramento; friends, Greg and Bonnie Huseby of Tarzana; five uncles, an aunt, seven nephews, and three nieces.

Eva M. Dickinson

Funeral services for Eva M. Dickinson, 87, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

A.E. Simms of Benicia Church of Christ and Don Alexander of Sacramento Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Brilliant Memorial Gardens, in Alabama.

Mrs. Dickinson died Feb. 1, 1999, in Kaiser Hospital, Vallejo after a short illness.

Born Dec. 1, 1911, in Marion, Ala., she lived in Fairfield for 47 years. She worked as a psychiatric technician at Napa State Hospital for five years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Benicia and the Fairfield Senior Citizens Club.

Mrs. Dickinson loved gardening and metal detecting.

Mrs. Dickinson is survived by her daughter, Fleeta Mattson of Vallejo; sons, Rhettus and Woodie, both of Fairfield, and Hugh of Auburn; 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

Jessie 'Jerry' Hargraves

A memorial service for Jessie "Jerry" Hargraves, 76, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Masonic Lodge, 897 Cotting Lane, Vacaville.

Services will be conducted by members of The Order of the Eastern Star, Vacaville Lodge. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Hargraves died Jan. 30, 1999, at her home after a lengthy illness.

Born Oct. 4, 1922, in Caldonia, Ill., she lived in Vacaville and Solano County for 28 years. She was a homemaker and mother for 44 years. She was a member of the Vacaville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Vacaville Garden Club. She was a past member of the Saturday Club. She was instrumental in the foundation of the Vacaville Art Gallery and was very community-minded. She ran the Cancer Dressing Station; and, while her husband was in the Air Force, she headed up the Special Services for dependents.

Mrs. Hargraves is survived by her husband, Thomas of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Doug Brinkmeier of Half Moon Bay; sister, Toni Baldwin of Homedale, Idaho; granddaughters, Alyssa and Liana Brinkmeier of Half Moon Bay and nieces, nephews and cousins in Idaho and South Dakota.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Shriners Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, 95817.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.
