Avneet Kaur Khehra

Funeral services for Avneet Kaur Khehra, 3 months, of Fairfield, will be noon Wednesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Sharanjit Singh and Dilbagh Singh will officiate. Inurnment will be private in Kirat Pur, Punjab, India.

The infant died Jan. 29, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a sudden illness.

Born Oct. 30, 1998, in Fairfield, she resided in Fairfield.

she is survived by her parents, Kulprit and Balwinder of Fairfield; paternal grandparents, Rajinder and Shaminder of Fairfield and maternal grandparents, Pritam and Kuldip Dhanoa of India.

Albert C. Carrington

A funeral Mass for longtime Vacaville and Solano County resident and farmer Albert C. Carrington, 68, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville.

The Rev. Benedict DeLeon of St. Mary's Catholic Church will preside.

Born July 31, 1930, in Elmira, Carrington died suddenly at VacaValley Hospital Jan. 31, 1999.

Mr. Carrington grew up in Vacaville and owned agricultural properties throughout the region. He farmed here for 50 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed antique cars. He also was a member of the California Sheriff's Association, California Farm Bureau, the volunteer fire department of Elmira and the local, state and national Cattlemens Association, and Sheep and Wool Growers Association.

Mr. Carrington was known as an unofficial historian of the county and Northern California and would entertain a listener with the history of area farms.

Mr. Carrington is survived by his wife, Julia of Vacaville; a daughter, Star Moore of Vacaville; two stepdaughters, Jade Pfeiffer of Florida and Marylyne Granger of Placerville; sister, Millie Mae Maines of Vacaville; brother, Dale Azevedo of Vacaville; two grandchildren, Gary and Chance Moore, both of Vacaville; three great-grandchildren; and one niece, Robin Ives of Vacaville.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.

Nellie Cheechov

Funeral services for Nellie Cheechov, 94, of Vacaville will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

Burial will follow in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Cheechov died Feb. 1, 1999, in Vacaville after a short illness.

Born Dec. 25, 1904, in Kars, Russia, she lived in Vacaville for 74 years.

Mrs. Cheechov is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Pearl and Martin Rohrke of Sacramento, and Shirley and Bill Ramanoff of Bakersfield; sons and daughter-in-law, John J. and Millie of Vacaville, and Jack of Vacaville; two brothers; three sisters, 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James and two sons, James Jr. and George.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Elizabeth Newcomb Colvin

Graveside services for Elizabeth Newcomb Colvin, 86, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Colvin died Jan. 30, 1999, in Dallas, Ore.

Born Aug. 25, 1912, in Marion, Ky., she lived in Kentucky until 1960 when she moved to Vacaville. She worked as a dietitian in a nursing home while she lived in California. In 1989, she moved to Oregon. She married Herbert W. Colvin on Oct. 17, 1930, in Indiana. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vacaville.

Mrs. Colvin is survived by her sons, Don of Bieber, Glenn of Meridian, Miss., David of Bethany, Mo.; daughters, Gloria Lamkin of Louisville, Ky., Miki Miller of Folsom, Sandi Bittel of Perrydale, Ore., and Trish Kile of Franktown,  Colo.; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971.

Arrangements are by Dallas Mortuary Chapel, Dallas, Ore.

John Robert Crone

Funeral services for John Robert Crone, 80, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Pastor Glen Green of Church of God will preside. Interment will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mr. Crone died Jan. 31, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born Sept. 1, 1918, in Allen,  Texas, he lived in Fairfield for 31 years. He worked as a laborer in construction for 31 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Laborers Union, Vallejo Local No. 326.

Mr. Crone is survived by his wife, Gerthie L. of Fairfield; sons, Allen Ray of Fairfield and Dennis of Virginia; sister, Louise Wallis of San Ardo; brother, Raymond Clarence of  Oklahoma; grandchildren, Laurie Samuels of Fairfield, Sandy Law of Suisun, Marty Law of Richmond, Shane of Vacaville and Jason of Virginia; and great-grandchildren, Chris and Jordan Samuels of Fairfield, Ashley and Whitney Logan of Suisun, Alyssa Law of Richmond, Barbara and Clarissa of Sonora and Ryan of Suisun.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 today in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Dorothy Irene Nelson

A memorial service for Dorothy Irene Nelson, 71, of Nice will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Lucerne Senior Center in Lucerne.

Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Nelson died Jan. 28, 1999, at David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base.

Born Aug. 31, 1927, in Britton, S.D., she lived in Fairfield for 11 years before moving to Nice in 1982. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband of 52 years, Denis of Nice; daughter, Sherry Ackerman of Suisun; sons, Rusty of Mount Laurel, N.J., and Mark of Fairfield; granddaughters, Laura Ackerman and Mary Hale, both of Oceanside; grandsons, Brian of Mount Laurel, N.J., Ross Ackerman of Suisun, and Nathan Hale Jr. of Oceanside; great-granddaughter, Kimberly Juino of Suisun; sisters, Karen Lout and Shirley Bean, both of Aberdeen, S.D., and Mary Heiser of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and brothers, William and Gary Severson of Aberdeen and Robert Severson of Alabama. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fairfield Funeral Home.

Ronald Neal Riffle

There will be no services for Ronald Neal Riffle, 66, of Suisun at his request. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Riffle died Jan. 30, 1999, in Fairfield, after a short illness.

Born Aug. 3, 1932, in McKeesport, Pa., he resided in Suisun for six years. He worked in construction in various locations. He last worked as maintenance manager for property managers I.R.M. Corp. He was a devoted husband who loved his family and cared for them. He was a member of the Local 22, Carpenters Union, San Francisco.

Mr. Riffle is survived by his wife, Margene R. of Suisun; daughters, Kimberly Altemueller of Suisun and Linda of Sacramento; father-in-law, Andrews C. Phipps of Sacramento; brothers, Roger of  Washington state and Tad of Houston,  Texas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Vermadine  Jones Beach

Memorial services and inurnment for Vermadine  Jones Beach, 79, of Suisun will be private at the request of the family.

Mrs. Beach died Feb. 3, 1999, in Davis after a long illness.

Born Dec. 14, 1919, in Kinston, N.C., she moved to the area 25 years ago. She worked as a vocational nurse at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Martinez for 10 years. She was a member of Free Will Baptist Church in Kinston, N.C.

Mrs. Vermadine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Frankie and Jerry Vaughn of Suisun; sons, Julian of Suisun and Dusty of Cordelia; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Charles William Matthey

Services for Charles William Matthey, 84, of Walnut Creek will be 11:30 a.m. today at Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset View Cemetery.

Born Feb. 14, 1914, in Oakland, Mr. Matthey died Feb. 2, 1999, in Walnut Creek.

A native of Oakland, he lived in Walnut Creek for 53 years. He attended California State University, San Jose, and was a personnel manager at American Home Foods. He was also affiliated with Gyro International in Oakland, and was on the board of directors of Food Processing Industry of California. He was a member of Lions Club in Walnut Creek and liked fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his sons, Bill of San Ramon, Warren of Omaha, Neb., Blake of Vacaville, and Steve of Concord; sister, Jane Fike of Pleasant Hill; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death in 1983 by his wife, Jean Audry.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel.

Mildred I. Munoz

Graveside services for Mildred I. Munoz, 90, of Vacaville will be private in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Munoz died Feb. 3, 1999, in VacaValley Hospital after a long illness.

Born June 13, 1908, in Kirksville, Mo., she moved to the area 24 years ago. She was a homemaker for 40 years.

Mrs. Munoz is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, John and Bev Bowles of  Texas City,  Texas; nieces and husbands, Bonnie and Buck Wing of Vacaville, Linda and Joe Neitzel of Suisun; nephews and wives, Steve and Jill Summers of Mammoth, Ore., and Larry Joe and Susie Bowles of Concord, Ohio; 10 great-nieces and nephews; 17 great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother, Jim Bowles in 1959.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Mary Virginia Hapgood

A Mass of Christian burial for Mary Virginia Hapgood, 76, of Sacramento will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sacramento.

The Rev. John Keane will officiate. Entombment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Born Feb. 6, 1922, in Tunica, Miss., Mrs. Hapgood died Feb. 4, 1999, in Sacramento.

She worked for Holy Spirit Catholic Church and school as a secretary for more than 25 years and recently celebrated 55 years of marriage to her husband.

Mrs. Hapgood is survived by her husband, William of Sacramento; son, Jim of Sacramento; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Richard Espicha of Hayward; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Ridgely Folk of Summit, N.J.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hugh and Marguerite  Taylor of Sacramento, James and Peg  Taylor of Palo Alto, Paul and Janet  Taylor of Newcastle; granddaughter, Michelle Hapgood of Sacramento; and grandsons, Brett and Todd Espicha of Hayward.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Church, 660 Florin Road in Sacramento, with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Roberta Lea Weimar

At her request, there will be no funeral services for Roberta Lea Weimar, 52, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private also.

Mrs. Weimar died Feb. 3, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a long illness.

Born Oct. 15, 1946, in Lincoln, Neb., she lived in Vacaville for a few months. She worked as a night auditor for Villa Hotel for 30 years.

Mrs. Weimar is survived by her daughter, Patricia Anderson of Fairfield; son, William of Fairfield; mother, Ruby Ellis of Omaha, Neb.; sisters, Christine McCormack of Vacaville, and Glenda Hrdy and Jackie Flemming of Nebraska; brothers, Norman, Kevin, Michael, John and Patrick McCormack, all of Nebraska; and grandchildren, Serena Proctor and Sage Anderson, both of Fairfield, and Joey of Livermore.

Arrangements are by Fairfield Funeral Home.

Mae Rita Wolfskill

A Mass for Mae Rita Wolfskill, 70, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Michael Downey will preside. Interment will be at Rockville Cemetery.

Mrs. Wolfskill died Feb. 4, 1999, at North Bay Medical Center following a short illness.

Born June 16, 1928, in Fairfield, she had owned and operated Wolfskill Ranches with her husband, Joseph C. Wolfskill, since 1948. Joseph Wolfskill preceded her in death in 1992. His great-great grand-uncle settled much of the land north of Vacaville.

The Wolfskills were one of the first families to raise fruit and grapes in Solano County after getting a land grant in the early 1840s. Brothers William and John Wolfskill were the "first Yankee settlers" in the county, according to author Frank L. Keegan in his book "Solano, An Illustrated History."

The pair received a 1,700-acre land grant in Solano in 1841 along both sides of Putah Creek in Yolo and Solano counties.

Mrs. Wolfskill had worked with the Solano County assessors/recorders office for 25 years, retiring in 1988.

She was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West and the Ladies of the Elks, BPOE, Vallejo Lodge No. 559.

Mrs. Wolfskill is survived by her daughter, Renee of Suisun; son, Brad of Gordon Valley; sister, June Tomasini of Fairfield; sister-in-law, Dolores Russell of Gordon Valley; granddaughter, Jenea Calbert of Suisun; and a grandson, Bradley of Winters.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday and visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
