James Wesley Mullings

Graveside services were held for James Wesley Mullings, 66, of Vacaville on Thursday in Silveyville Cemetery. Pastor Wes Nordman of Dixon Community Church officiated.

Mr. Mullings died Feb. 8, 1999, in Dixon after an industrial accident.

Born Oct. 10, 1932, in Gurdon, Ark., he lived in Solano County for more than 35 years. He served in the Navy and had worked as a plant manager for Tremont Supply Inc. in Dixon.

Mr. Mullings was an avid fisherman, enjoyed the rodeo and loved watching old westerns on TV.

Mr. Mullings is survived by his son, Michael of Lompoc; daughters, Debra of Idaho and Vieanna of Little Rock, Ark.; father, Samuel of Quincy; sisters, Bertha, Marie Mathis and Doris Poore, all of Quincy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, in 1997 and two sons, Jesse Ray and Samuel Marcus.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the AIDS Foundation, P.O. Box 426182, San Francisco, 94142-6182 in memory of Jesse Mullings, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements were by Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

Vicenta Sanchez Rosario

Mass of Christian Burial for Vicenta Sanchez Rosario, 74, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Spirit Church.

The Rev. Michael Downey of Holy Spirit Church will officiate. Interment will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Rosario died Feb. 9, 1999, in Vaca Valley Hospital after a long illness.

Born Oct. 7, 1924, in San Carlos C.D. Pangasinan, Philippine Islands, she lived in Fairfield for 19 years. She worked as an elementary school teacher from 1953 to 1978. She became school principal in 1979 and retired as elementary school supervisor in 1985.

She taught in the Philippine Islands. She was a member of Fil/American Pioneer's Club, Daughters of Isabela (PI), Holy Spirit Church, Santo Nino De Cebu Society of Vacaville, Fairfield, Suisun Vicinity Inc., San Carenians Association (San Francisco), and the Charismatic Group of Holy Spirit Church.

Mrs. Rosario received her master's in guidance and counseling in 1977 in the Philippine Islands. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano and folk dancing.

Mrs. Rosario is survived by her husband, Domingo B. of Fairfield; daughters, Daisy R. Espinoza of Rome, Carol S. of Suisun, Purita A. and son-in-law, Rudy Garcia of Fairfield; son, Wilfredo S. and daughter-in-law Helen of Fairfield; sister, Josefina S. Garcia of Los Angeles; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and many friends and relatives in Vallejo.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home and 5 to 9 p.m. Monday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church with a vigil at 7 p.m.

Otis Beshears

A private family service for Otis Beshears, 81, of Tahlequah, Okla., will be in Shady Point, Okla., with special friend, the Rev. Wayne Hall.

Mr. Beshears died Feb. 8, 1999, in Tahlequah after a long illness.

Born Jan. 21, 1918, in Lone, Ark., he moved to Tahlequah this past year after living in Vacaville. Mr. Beshears was an ordained minister in the Assembly of God Church. He worked for 20 years as a security guard with Chevron Oil in Richmond, retiring in 1974.

Mr. Beshears loved gardening, walking and fishing.

Mr. Beshears is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois of Tahlequah; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Richard Carr of Park Hill, Okla.; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Judy of Morgan Hill; brother, Elmer of Greenwood, Ark.; sisters, Edith Hogue of San Pedro, Margaret Bush of Barling, Ark., and Marcille Clopton of Locust Grove, Okla.; grandchildren, Scott Carr of Vacaville, Dan of Chico, Shauna Carr of Tahlequah and Hillary and husband Rich Engh of San Jose; numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trinity Hospice, 1202 W. Fourth St., Tahlequah, Okla., 74464. Phone (918) 456-6851 or (800) 597-2102.

Marvel 'Marie' O'Grady

Memorial services for Marvel 'Marie' O'Grady, 79, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Nadeau Family Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. O'Grady died Feb. 10, 1999, in a local hospital after a short illness.

Born in Vallejo she was a lifetime resident of California. Her late father, Clyde Correll, worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard during World War I. A devoted mother, she had three children, 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A homemaker, she doted on her grandchildren and especially liked working with them on crafts projects. She also enjoyed bingo.

Mrs. O'Grady is survived by her children, Don and Gene Hall of Vacaville, Marlene Burke of Pollock Pines, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Edward August Schemke

A Mass of the Resurrection for Edward August Schemke, 86, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Father Benedict DeLeon of St. Mary's Catholic Church will preside. Interment will follow in Rockville Cemetery.

Mr. Schemke died Feb. 11, 1999, in VacaValley Hospital after a long illness.

Born Dec. 25, 1912 in Chicago, he resided in Vacaville. He worked as a Claims Manager for Kemper Insurance Co. for 43 years. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Loyal Order of the Moose of Vacaville and Chicago, headed Junior Achievement and for five years worked on projects with youth.

Mr. Schemke is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie C.; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. James Schemke of Green Valley; sister, Anna Kunzelman of Chicago; grandson, Donovan of Santa Barbara; granddaughter, Jennifer of Chicago.

Friends may call from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Furnn Velma Micheli

A mass of Christian burial for Furnn Velma Micheli, 88, of Vacaville will be at noon Wednesday.

The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly of St. Joseph's Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Coalinga.

Born Aug. 1, 1910, in Coalinga, Mrs. Micheli died Feb. 12, 1999, in Vacaville.

A resident of Vacaville for the past 15 years, she descended from the Akers pioneer family, settling in Coalinga in the early 1900s. She drove cattle, rode horseback to school and took milk in a buckboard 14 miles into town. She was a seamstress and a homemaker for 70 years.

Mrs. Micheli is survived by her daughter, Rosemary K. Fox of Vacaville; sister-in-law, Mary Akers of Hamilton City; grandchildren and their spouses, Lori and Chris Fox-Rigney, Bill and Amy Joyce, Michael Joyce, Jean Marie and Wayne Conrad, all of Vacaville; and eight great-grandchildren, all of Vacaville.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Arthur, and her daughter, Maxine Joyce.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Vaca Hills Chapel, with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Rufo Araos del Campo

Funeral services for Rufo Araos del Campo, 86, of Suisun City will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela of the church will officiate.

Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery with full military honors.

Born Sept. 25, 1912, in Pozorrubio, Pangasinian, in the Philippine Islands, he died Feb. 12, 1999, in David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base after a long illness.

Mr. Del Campo lived in Suisun 15 years and served in the Army from 1941-1968 as a veteran of World War II, Korea and the Vietnam War. He retired from the Army in 1968 as a sergeant first class.

He received an associate's degree from Monterey Peninsula College and was an operating room technician.

He was a member of the First Filipino U.S. Infantry Regiment Association and Fairfield's Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

He enjoyed fishing and tennis.

Mr. Del Campo is survived by his wife, Corazon (Mary); daughters, Bonnie Rondez of Fairfield and Cecilia and Jeana both of Martinez; son, Rufo Jr. of Suisun CIty; sister, Lolita de Vera of the Philippines; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

A memorial contribution may be made to the Alzheimer's Aid Society of Northern California, P.O. Box 1824, Sacramento, 95812.

Beulah M. Lengquist

A Catholic prayer service for Beulah M. Lengquist, 88, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Sebastian Meyer from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church will officiate. Disposition will be private in Suisun Fairfield Cemetery.

Ms. Lengquist died Feb. 14, 1999, in her home after a long illness.

Born Sept. 16, 1910, in Joplin, Miss., she lived in Fairfield for 46 years. She worked as a practical nurse for 10 years and served in the United States Army Medical Corps from 1944 to 1946. She worked in civil service at Travis Air Force Base as a payroll audit clerk for 23 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Fairfield Lapidary Society. She was a past member of the Fairfield-Suisun Senior Center.

Ms. Lengquist is survived by her sisters, Margary Edwards of Metolius, Ore., Eveline Deresinski of Clarks Summit, Pa., Geneva Weiss of Blanca,  Colo. and Valerie Eggert of Grove, Okla.; brother, Byron of Fairland, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

William H. Matthews

Funeral services with full military honors for William H. Matthews, 65, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Friday at Travis Air Force Base Chapel 1.

Archpriest Michael Regan of St. Michael Orthodox Church will officiate. Interment will be private at the National Cemetery in Riverside.

Mr. Matthews died Feb. 10, 1999, in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born April 27, 1933, in Fentress, Va., he lived in Fairfield for four years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1970. He rose from the grade of private to major, serving as a pilot. He flew B-52, B-47 and F-100 aircraft. During his career, he logged more than 24,000 hours and was a command pilot. He served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and the Air Force Association.

Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife, Frances of Fairfield; son, Jeffery of El Toro; daughter-in-law, Mary Jayne; daughter, Jennifer Matthews of Rancho Cordova; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. and a Panikhida Service at 7 p.m. Thursday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Edward Pfahl

Private memorial services will be held for Edward Pfahl, 67, of Fairfield. Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Born April 19, 1931, in North Dakota, he died Feb. 12, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a long illness.

He lived in Fairfield 42 years and served in the Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 1968 at Travis Air Force Base.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and owned and operated Pfahl Construction in Fairfield for 10 years, retiring in 1978.

He also worked for Fairfield Unified School District as a maintenance supervisor for eight years prior to retiring in 1994.

Mr. Pfahl is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Jeri Lynn Bristol of Suisun City, Suzanne Wilson, Nanette and Kathleen, all of San Diego, and Deborah of Oceanside; sons, Jay and Jeff Dahl of Fairfield and John Dahl of Vacaville; brothers, John of Buckley, Wash., and Rueben of Goodrick, N.D.; sisters, Matilda Wilkins of Zepherhill, Fla., Frieda Barbaria and Laverle Nichols, both of Lakeland, Fla., Elsa Horstad of Bismark, N.D., and Viola Essig of Shevlin, Minn.; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial contribution may be made to a favorite charity.

Theresa Russell

Funeral services for Theresa Russell, 85, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Thursday in McCune Garden Chapel.

Jim Daniels of Disabled American Veterans will preside. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery following her services.

Mrs. Russell died Feb. 15, 1999, in her home after a sudden illness.

Born July 9, 1913, in New York City, she resided in Vacaville and Solano County for 41 years. She served in the Woman's Army Corps, and worked for more than 20 years with the civil service as a cost accountant. She was past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, past member of the Vacaville Moose Lodge, a member of NAARFE, American Legion and treasurer of DAV.

Mrs. Russell enjoyed her home and watching TV.

Mrs. Russell is survived by her daughters, Jill Atkins of Reno, Suzy Collins of Wickenburg, Ariz.; son, Jack Langworthy of Boston, Mass.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday in McCune Garden Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Veterans Building Fund, 549 Merchant St., Vacaville, 95688.
