Iceophine Roberta Goepfert

Services for Iceophine Roberta Goepfert, 83, of Sacramento will be 11 a.m. Friday in Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

The Rev. Maurice O'Brien of St. Peters Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Silveyville Cemetery.

Mrs. Goepfert died March 8, 1999, in Sacramento after an illness.

Born May 15, 1916, in Dixon, she lived in Sacramento since 1957. She was a nursing instructor at Sacramento City College for 25 years until her retirement. She graduated from Dixon schools, French Hospital of Nursing in San Francisco, and San Francisco State University. She was director of nurses at Hahnemann Hospital in San Francisco. She was a member of the California Teachers Association and CRTA. She was involved in charities such as WEAVE and The South Sacramento Inner Wheel.

Mrs. Goepfert enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing bridge with her friends, being with her family and was a devoted aunt.

Mrs. Goepfert is survived by her husband, Sidney of Sacramento; sister, Mary Zacharias of Dixon; sister-in-law, Marjorie Dannenberg of Dixon; nieces, Denise Morris, Marie Smith, Karen Carter and Sheri Dannenberg, all of Dixon, Dale Entezari of Citrus Heights, Dianne Smith of Sacramento and Christine Kroll of Florida; nephews, Mike Dannenberg of Napa and Ron Zacharias of Santa Barbara; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bud Dannenberg and sister, Althea Smith.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

Ann Fujiko Takeda

Private family services will be held for Ann Fujiko Takeda, 64, of Sacramento in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Inurnment will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Ms. Takeda died March 4, 1999, at her brother's residence in West Sacramento after a long illness.

Born Jan. 8, 1935, in Vacaville, she moved to Sacramento 36 years ago. She was a registered nurse at University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento for 36 years. She was a member of the Registered Nurses Association and graduated from Vacaville High School in 1953.

Ms. Takeda is survived by her brothers, Yuki and Akira, both of Vacaville, Tomo of West Sacramento and Warre of Sherman Oaks; sisters, Tomiko Matsushita of Vacaville, Mitsage Takeda and Kazuge Wai, both of Sacramento, and Michiyo Sasano of San Mateo. Memorial contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society.

Julia Young

Funeral services for Julia Young, 73, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Friday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Pastor Keith Knauf will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Young died March 7, 1999, in VacaValley Hospital after a short illness.

Born Aug. 25, 1925, in Berkeley, she moved to the area 31 years ago. She was a homemaker for 15 years.

Mrs. Young enjoyed knitting, crocheting, Rice Krispie treats and talking.

Mrs. Young is survived by her son, Christopher Berardi of Woodland; daughter, Kimberly Berardi of Woodland; brothers, Stephen and Walter Chan, both of San Francisco; sister, Sylvia Lum of Fresno and sister-in-law, Alice Chan of San Jose; grandson, Anthony Berardi of Woodland.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Frank Roderick Lawrence

Funeral services for Frank Roderick Lawrence, 70, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Disposition will be private.

Mr. Lawrence died March 8, 1999, in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born Feb. 24, 1929, in Hoquiam, Wash., he lived in Fairfield for 44 years. After graduating from Hoquiam High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps for two years. He graduated from the University of Oregon and later obtained a master's degree in speech therapy from San Francisco State University and a doctoral degree in education from Nova University. He worked for the Solano County Office of Education for 35 years as a speech pathologist and coordinator of special education. He retired in 1993.

Mr. Lawrence enjoyed his favorite sports teams and was an outstanding athlete in his youth. He also loved fishing and was especially fond of traveling with his wife and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Anne of Fairfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Robyn and Ted Ginty of Australia, Moira and Stephen Bentley of Chico; son and daughter-in-law, James and Monica of Switzerland; brother and sister-in-law, Frederick and Charlotte of Seaview, Wash.; seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hanna Boys Center, P.O. Box 100, Sonoma, 95476.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Erma Arriaga

Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Erma Arriaga, 48, of Fairfield at 10:30 a.m. today in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Entombment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mrs. Arriaga died March 9, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born June 3, 1951, in La Mesa,  Texas, she resided in Fairfield for 22 years. She was working as a housekeeper for Paradise Valley Estates in Fairfield.

Mrs. Arriaga was known to her family as a happy person and a good cook.

Mrs. Arriaga is survived by her daughter, Nora Rangel of Fairfield; son, Ali Rahman of Fairfield; mother, Odilia Varela of Fairfield; father, Conrad Martinez of Bakersfield; sisters, Juanita Zuniga of San Jose, and Yolanda Hernandez, Odilia Hernandez and Sylvia Garcia, all of Fairfield; brothers, Conrad Martinez of San Jose, Paul Martinez of Fairfield and Oscar Martinez of Sacramento; grandchildren, Carlos Valbuena, Josephine Rangel, Hector Rangel Jr., Jessica Rangel, Ali Rahman Jr., and Reanna Rahman, all of Fairfield.

Visitation will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. today in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Maria Mayoral

Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Maria Mayoral, 48, of Dixon at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peters Catholic Church.

The Rev. Maurice O'Brien will officiate. Interment will be in Silveyville Cemetery.

Mrs. Mayoral died March 11, 1999, in her home after a long illness.

Born May 3, 1950, in Sinaloa, Mexico, she lived in Dixon for 30 years. She worked as a beautician in Davis for 23 years.

Mrs. Mayoral is survived by her husband, Hector of Dixon; daughter, Jessica of Dixon; parents, Armando and Consuelo Lizarraga of Dixon; brothers and sisters, Paul Lizarraga, Juanita Luna, Tavo Lizarraga, Pattie Lizarraga, Armando Lizarraga Jr., and Joe Lizarraga, all of Dixon, Sam Espinoza of Davis and Sergio Lizarraga of Vacaville; goddaughter, Maya Renay; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday with rosary at 6 p.m. at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made to Kaiser Hospice, 975 Sereno Drive, Vallejo.

William Benjamin Knapp

Memorial services for William Benjamin Knapp, 74, of Vacaville will be 3 p.m. Monday at Trinity Baptist Church.

Pastor Milton Speck of Trinity Baptist Church will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born July 15, 1924, in Peoria, Ill., Mr. Knapp died March 12, 1999, in Vacaville.

A resident of Vacaville for 21 years, Mr. Knapp worked for Safeway for 15 years and for American Home Foods for 10 years before retiring. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a great lover of nature.

He is survived by his wife, Nell of Vacaville; stepson, Dirk Cheemar of Florida; daughters, Cheris Hoffman of Hanna City, Ill., Jean Daniel of Fairfield, and Carol Meek of Pollock Pines; sister, Martha Jordon of St. David, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, 401 W. Monte Vista Ave.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.

Helen E. O'Connor

Memorial services for Helen E. O'Connor, 86, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. today in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cordelia Ward.

Bishop Henry  Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mrs. O'Connor died Feb. 28, 1999, in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born Oct. 6, 1912, in Ness City, Kan., she lived in Fairfield for 22 years. Her prior residences were Martinez and San Jose. She was a homemaker for 67 years. She was a member of the Fairfield Senior Center and did lapidary work in Fairfield.

Mrs. O'Connor enjoyed the outdoors.

Mrs. O'Connor is survived by her daughter, Carol Rhoades of Ukiah; sons and daughters-in-law, Vernon and Wallis of Fairfield, Robert and Louissa of San Jose; son, Ronald of Hayward; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Fernando Cesar Bega

Funeral services for Fernando Cesar Bega, 21, of Fairfield will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

The Rev. Stan Sanderson will officiate. Disposition will be private at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born Aug. 26, 1977, in Fairfield, Mr. Bega died March 11, 1999, as the result of a motorcycle accident in Fairfield.

Mr. Bega graduated from Fairfield High School in 1995 and worked for Wal-Mart. He loved motorcycles and his dog, Coco. He liked working in the yard and with bonsai trees, and enjoyed rap music.

He is survived by his mother, Becky of Fairfield; father, Emilio of Mexico; son, Robert Lucky of Fairfield; sister, Ellen of Fairfield; grandparents, Ernest and Darlene Drake of Fairfield, Jose and Dominga Bega of Mexico; aunts and uncles, Kathy and Robert Lambrecht of Sandy, Utah, Scott and Angie Drake of Ogden, Utah; uncle, Lorenzo Bega of Napa; cousins, Jason and Sean Lambrecht of Sandy, Utah, Ryan and Connor Drake of Ogden, Utah; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Mexico and Oregon.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Ramona V. Granado

A Mass of Christian burial for Ramona V. Granado, 70, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Interment will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Aug. 4, 1928, in Whitman, Neb., Mrs. Granado died March 12, 1999, in Vacaville.

A resident of Vacaville since 1936, Mrs. Granado sold Avon products, provided home childcare and was a certified nurse's assistant.

She was a member of Women of the Moose and a member of the Certified Nurses Association. She enjoyed being with her family and entertaining, and was a loving wife and mother.

Mrs. Granado is survived by her husband of 52 years, Mike of Vacaville; daughter, Christina Saole of Las Vegas; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Jerry Barr of Vacaville; son, Mike of Vacaville; sisters, Alberta Espinosa of Vacaville and Josie Maldonado of Fairfield; brothers, John and Bernie Vasquez of Vacaville; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McCune Garden Chapel, with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m.

Beyla Nakhlis

Funeral services for Beyla Nakhlis, 71, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Rabbi Jim Heilborn of B'nai Israel Congregation in Vallejo will officiate. Burial will follow at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Sept. 20, 1927, in Ukraine, Mrs. Nakhlis died March 12, 1999, in Fairfield.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Vinnitsa Bank in Ukraine.

Mrs. Nakhlis is survived by her husband, Aleksandr Feldman of Fairfield; brother-in-law, Uzef Nakhlis of Chicago; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Rita and Michael Burstein of Fairfield; and grandchildren, Paul and Vickie Burstein of Fairfield.

Marian J. Braun

Funeral services for Marian J. Braun, 78, of Vacaville will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly will preside. Interment will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Miss Braun died March 11, 1999, in Vacaville after a long illness.

Born May 20, 1920, in Chicago, Ill., she lived in Vacaville for 31 years. She was a retired schoolteacher for the Vacaville Unified School District and dealt in collectibles and antiques. She was a member of California Retired Teachers Association.

Miss Braun is survived by her sisters, Kate Winkle of Vacaville and Ann Linde of Knoxville, La.; nieces, Beth Winkle Hamilton of Raleigh, N.C., and Leonora Salet of Vacaville; nephews, Stephen Winkle of Daly City, Ben of Germany, Mark and Steven, both of Topeka, Kan., Terry of Manhattan, Kan., John of Colorado Springs and Peter Linde of South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter D. Braun.
