John 'Taco' Savala
Visitation for John "Taco" Savala, 50, of Dixon will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow at the Silveyville Cemetery.
Born April 15, 1948, in Sacramento, Mr. Savala died March 20, 1999, in Sacramento after a long illness.
He worked for Pacific Gas and Electric Co. for 24 years. He belonged to the Grafton Lodge No. 141 of Knights Landing and the F&AMp;AM, also of Knights Landing.
He was an avid Raiders fan. He also rode and restored Harley-Davidson motorcycles and collected sports memorabilia.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Marcy of Dixon; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Steve Quinn of Las Vegas; daughter, Kim of Dixon; grandchildren, Emily Ruth and Thomas John Densel Quinn of Las Vegas; father, Trini of Sacramento; brother, Tony of Las Vegas; sisters, Carmen Falero and Helen Perez of Sacramento; and many nieces and nephews.

Karel H. Armstorff
A Mass will be held for Karel H. Armstorff, 65, of Vallejo at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Catherine's Catholic Church. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery.
Mr. Armstorff died March 20, 1999, in Kaiser Hospital, Vallejo after a long illness.
Born Feb. 18, 1934, in Jakarta, Indonesia, he lived in Vallejo for 39 years and came to the United States in 1959. He worked as an aircraft painter at Alameda Naval Air Station for 22 years, retiring in 1986. He also served in the Dutch Army. He was a member of St. Catherine's Church, served as district commisioner for Boy Scouts of America from 1970-1974, and was active in his children's baseball and softball leagues.
Mr. Armstorff enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, cooking and sports. Soccer was his passion.
Mr. Armstorff is survived by his wife, Willy of Vallejo; daughters and sons-in-law, Eveline and Rob Barnard of Benicia, Jane and Jon Frost of Santa Rosa, Louise and Tim Tyrrell of Vacaville; daughter, Cynthia of Vallejo; sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Denise of Vallejo and Roland and Cherie of Burbank; sisters, Yvonne Marconi of Germany and Thelma vanOpheusden of the Netherlands; brothers, Frederick and Emile, both of the Netherlands; and 10 grandchildren.

Rogelio M. Asercion
Mass of Christian Burial for Rogelio M. Asercion, 68, of Fairfield will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.
The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Entombment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park with full military honors.
Mr. Asercion died March 21, 1999, in Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo after a long illness.
Born Sept. 20, 1930, in General Trias, Cavite, Philippine Islands, he lived in Fairfield for 20 years. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years, and the U.S. Air Force for 17 years. He retired in 1973 as a chief master sergeant. He received his master's degree in public administration from Golden Gate University. He worked as an administrator for East Bay Municipal Utility District for nine years. He also worked for San Mateo County and Solano County as an administrator in personnel. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Filipino Veterans Association, and Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Mr. Asercion is survived by his wife, Leonor of Fairfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Carlos Ignacio of Pittsburg, Marcia and Gregory Moore of Davis, and Lisa and Don Vu of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Kyong-Hui of Travis Air Force Base; sisters, Nannie Ignacio of Hayward and Lita Magsaysay of San Francisco; brothers, Elpidio of Virginia Beach, Va., and Rodolfo of Vacaville; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with a vigil at 7 p.m. Sunday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
Albert Leo Gruber
Graveside services for Albert Leo Gruber, 83, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Mr. Gruber died March 22, 1999, in Sacramento after a long illness.
Born April 11, 1915, in Iowa, he moved to the area 31 years ago. He worked with Southern Pacific Railroad as a railroad switchman for 30 years. He was a member of Holy Spirit Church in Fairfield.
Mr. Gruber is survived by his daughters, Cindy Burnett of Vacaville and Patricia Mills of Citrus Heights; son, Troy Bonie of Tucson, Ariz.; sister, Loretta DeLaBrosse of Carroll, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan in 1994.

Hilda Maudell Fisher
A private graveside service for Hilda Maudell Fisher, 78, of Fairfield will be Friday in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Fisher died March 23, 1999, in Sierra Solano Convalescent Hospital in Fairfield after a long illness.
Born July 2, 1920, in Adel, Ga., she lived in Fairfield for 31 years. She worked as a nursing assistant for Dr. Roy Clark for 15 years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose in Fairfield.
Mrs. Fisher is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ella LaVerne and Elmar William of Fairfield; son, James R. Fender of Greenville, S.C.; brothers, the Rev. Boyd Reed and Frank Reed, both of Adel; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Peter James Hillock
Funeral services for Peter James Hillock, 78, of Fairfield will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Chaplain Capt. Crews will officiate. Private entombment with full military honors will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.
Mr. Hillock died March 15, 1999, in Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo after an illness.
Born Sept. 29, 1920, in Buffalo, N.Y., he lived in Fairfield for 19 years. He served as a master sergeant in the Marine Corps. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a pilot serving 31 years. After retiring he worked as a peace officer at Mare Island. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Solano County Peace Officers Association.
Mr. Hillock is survived by his wife, Shizu of Fairfield; daughters, Ruth Ann McCraken of Carmichael and Roseanna Ogle of Greenwood, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Peter J. and Martha Orndorff of Woodbridge, Va.

Joseph Anthony Moraga
Funeral services for Joseph Anthony Moraga, infant, of Suisun will be held 2 p.m. Friday in Fairmont Memorial Park Chapel.

Joseph died at birth on March 20, 1999 in Sacramento.
Joseph is survived by his parents, Anthony and Keyna of Suisun; grandparents, Kathy and Gaby Moraga of Suisun, Peggy and Al Lagardo of Vacaville; sister, Victoria of Suisun; aunt, Lia of Suisun; uncles Joe Lagardo of Sacramento and David of Florida.

Morris E. Knickerbocker
Funeral services for Morris E. Knickerbocker, 51, of Suisun will be 11 a.m. Friday in Temple Baptist Church.
Pastor Robert Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
Mr. Knickerbocker died March 23, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a long illness.
Born June 22, 1947, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., he lived in Suisun for 12 years. He worked as green chain operator in a sawmill for 15 years. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Fairfield.
Mr. Knickerbocker is survived by his wife, Rita of Suisun; stepdaughters, Deborah Hooks, Anne Mincey, Alta Cooper, Margaret Payne and Ellen Waters, all of Fairfield; stepsons, Walter of New York, Ernest and Richard Waters of Massachusetts; mother, Ruby of New York; sister, Linda of New York; stepsister, Rose Marie Smith of New York; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Fairfield Funeral Home.

Florence Alvarez Marfil
A Catholic Prayer Service for Florence Alvarez Marfil, 82, of Vacaville will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Vaca Hills Chapel.
The Rev. Benedict DeLeon of St. Mary's Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Mrs. Marfil died March 22, 1999, in her home after a long illness.
Born Nov. 13, 1916, in Spain, she moved to the area 64 years ago. In 1936 she married De Marfil, a native of Vacaville. She worked as a lab technician for Basic Vegetable for 31 years, retiring 19 years ago. She was active in the women of the Vacaville Moose Club of 1967. She went through the office chairs and was a junior graduate regent of the Vacaville Chapter.
Mrs. Marfil is survived by her daughter, Florence of Vacaville; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Barbara of Vacaville; seven grandchildren, Joyce Love of Ukiah, Bill Michels of Sacramento, Kelly Capehart of Chowchilla, Fred Michels of Tacoma, Wash., Debbie Ravira of Huston, Del., Kim and Maria, both of Vacaville; and 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today in Vaca Hills Chapel.
Linda L. Pallares
Funeral services for Linda L. Pallares, 61, of Fairfield will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Interment will be at Rockville Cemetery. The Rev. Frank Ward of Castlewood Baptist Church in Vallejo will officiate.
Born July 29, 1937, in Harrisburg, Ill., Mrs. Pallares died March 22, 1999, in her home.
A resident of Fairfield for 23 years, Mrs. Pallares worked as a services operator for C.M.T. Federal Credit Union in Fairfield and was also the senior escrow officer at Stewart Title Co. and various other title companies in Contra Costa County and Fairfield. Before moving to Fairfield, she lived in Pinole for 33 years.
Mrs. Pallares is survived by her husband, Joseph of Fairfield; daughter, Laura Dixon of Esparto; sons, Brian of San Diego and Christopher of Benicia; sister, Pearl Cass of Pinole; brothers, Donald Basham of Corona and Jack Basham of Temple City; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. tonight at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
Charles "Jack" Dempsey Floyd
Charles "Jack" Dempsey Floyd, longtime Vacaville resident and only child of the notorious bank robber "Pretty Boy" Floyd - the FBI's public enemy No. 1 until he was gunned down in 1934 - died Tuesday after a long illness at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo. He was 74.
Born Dec. 29, 1924, in Bald Hill, Okla., to Rubye Hardgraves and Charles Arthur Floyd, Mr. Jack Floyd lived in Vacaville for 26 years and had a wide range of occupations, from ice carrier to casino owner and manager.
"He had many wonderful memories of his dad," said Patricia Floyd, Mr. Floyd's wife.
"Pretty Boy" Floyd was slain by law enforcement officers after a string of robberies and killings throughout the Midwest when his son was 10 years old.
When Mr. Floyd was 9 years old, he traveled the country with his mother to promote a movie called, "Crime Doesn't Pay."
One time, the robber offered his son a bag of change taken from a bank if the boy could carry it. He could.
"After that, Jack was popular because he would buy ice creams for the other boys," said Patricia Floyd.
"My father was a wonderful father to his family and he never did anything to bring us shame," said his son, David. "He was a loyal son to his father even though my grandfather went the wrong way. He always liked to talk about his father and was proud of his father's heart."
Funeral services for Mr. Floyd will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Vaca Hills Chapel. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1945.
Mr. Floyd enjoyed fishing, taking walks and playing with his grandchildren.
Mr. Floyd is survived by his wife, Patricia of Vacaville; daughters, Sheri of Seattle and Kimberly Humphreys of Carson City; sons, David of Vallejo and Richard B. Humphreys of Oakland; grandchildren, Morgan, Cole, Robbie, Jacksun, Yuki, Tajal'e and Bion Humphreys, and Leroy and Ted Sieng. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in Vaca Hills Chapel.
