Joseph Benedict Murray

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Benedict Murray, 74, of Suisun will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

A rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m. today at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Mr. Murray died March 28, 1999, in Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo after a long illness.

Born March 21, 1925, in Mount Melleck, Ireland, he moved to Suisun in 1995. Before that, he lived in Shingletown for two years and in Pacifica for 15 years. He worked for 21 years as an engineer for the city of San Francisco in the Department of Sanitation.

Mr. Murray is survived by his wife, Nancy in Suisun; sons, Dominick of Viola and John of Shingletown; daughter, Mary Martinez of Suisun; brother, Dominick of Bundoran, Ireland; and 13 grandchildren.

Elmer Kingsley Valentine

Private services and burial will be held for Elmer Kingsley Valentine, 78, of Northboro, Mass., at the Howard Street Cemetery in Northboro.

Mr. Valentine died March 27, 1999, after a long illness.

Born Nov. 24, 1920, in Northboro, he attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and later went on to finish his education at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, where he received his master's in animal husbandry.

Mr. Valentine taught vocational agriculture at Vacaville High School, and later at King City High School in Salinas. He also worked as a substitute teacher at various schools in Salinas.

He served in World War II in Africa and Europe. He helped set flags out at Salinas Memorial Park on Veterans and Memorial Day. He was active in youth activities, such as Future Farmers of America and Boy Scouts Troop 232.

Mr. Valentine is survived by his wife, Robin; sons, Elmer Ward of Salinas and Michael Gordon of Moscow, Russia; daughter, Carol Ellen Nichols and two grandchildren in Canyon Country.

Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Calvin Coolidge Lee

Funeral services for Calvin Coolidge Lee, 47, of Suisun will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Shiloh Baptist Church.

Pastor Jonthan Wilson will officiate. Interment will be in Rockville Cemetery.

Mr. Lee died March 28, 1999, in Suisun after a long illness.

Born July 3, 1951, in Mississippi, he lived in Suisun for five years. He worked as an interior/exterior finisher for Fiberboard Corp. in the construction field. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, Vacaville.

Mr. Lee enjoyed working on restoring automobiles into working condition.

Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, April of Suisun; daughters, Jacqueline Brown, Freda and Matricha, all of Greenville, Miss., Kelley Knight of Louisville, Ky., Temeka of Suisun, and Iyeshia Valentine of Suisun; sons, Derrick and Quinton, both of Detroit, Mich., Calvin of Chicago, Ill, Adrian Brown of Greenville and Calvin of Suisun; brother, Sim Jr. of Greenville; aunt, Ruby of Vicksburgh, Miss.; eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society-Fairfield Branch, 1652 W.  Texas St., Suite 110, Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Richard Hodges Curl

Funeral services for Richard Hodges Curl, 77, of Suisun will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Frances Morrow will officiate. Disposition will be in Riverside National Cemetery.

Mr. Curl died March 29, 1999, at Travis Air Force Base after a sudden illness.

Born Jan. 19, 1922, in Brewton, Ga., he lived in Suisun for 2 1/2 years. He was a former resident of Riverside. He served in the U.S. Army for 26 years, during World War II, Korea, the Berlin Crusade and Vietnam. He did a lot of volunteer work for Father Flanagan Boys Center.

Mr. Curl is survived by his daughters, Nancy  Jackson of Suisun and Rebekah Killoran of Wisconsin; sons, Joseph of Suisun and Steven of Riverside; brother, Herman of Savannah, Ga.; sister, Evelyn Cochran of Savannah; 14 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Sixto Granillo

A Catholic Prayer Service for Sixto Granillo, 74, of Dixon will be held 10 a.m. Friday in Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

The Rev. Maurice O'Brien of St. Peter's Catholic Church will preside. Interment will be in Silveyville Cemetery.

Mr. Granillo died March 30, 1999, in Sacramento after a long illness.

Born March 25, 1925, in Chihuahua, Mexico, he lived in Dixon for 32 years.

Mr. Granillo is survived by his sons, Arthur of Sacramento, Danny and Alex of Dixon, William and Calvin of California; daughters, Lupe Karambelas of Illinois and Stella Delvillar of Sacramento; special friend, Helen Vasquez; 29 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today in Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

Alfredo Torio Soriano

A Mass of Christian Burial for Alfredo Torio Soriano, 73, of Suisun will be 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mr. Soriano died March 29, 1999, in Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Vallejo, after a short illness.

Born Oct. 17, 1925, in Canaoalan, Pangasinan, Philippine Islands, he lived in Suisun for 30 years. He was born and educated in the Philippines. He served in the Philippine Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He came to the United States in 1968. He worked for Rough Rider for eight years, and as a presser for Koret of California in Napa for 16 years. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Mr. Soriano enjoyed yardwork and gardening.

Mr. Soriano is survived by his wife, Gaudencia of Suisun; daughters, Alicia, Leticia and Berlina, all of Suisun; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Aida, Arsenio and Marilou of Suisun and Alexander and Editha of Fairfield; sister, Esperanza Alcantara of the Philippines; nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday with a vigil at 7 p.m. in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Gladys Yates Turner

Memorial services for Gladys Yates Turner, 85, of Vacaville will be 1:30 p.m. in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Minister Ralph Brockway will preside. Inurnment will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Turner died March 26, 1999, in Vacaville after a long illness.

Born Oct. 4, 1913, in Hattieville, Ark., she lived in Vacaville for 62 years. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Mrs. Turner is survived by her daughter, Betty Jean Callison of Vacaville; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy R. and Lauretta Yates of Missouri; daughter and son-in-law, Winona M. and Thomas  Jones of Summerset; son, Bill Yates of Vacaville; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Vera Williams

Memorial services for Vera Williams, 84, of Fairfield will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Rob Gambel will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Williams died March 30, 1999, in her home after a long illness.

Born March 4, 1915, in Quitman, La., she lived in Fairfield for 24 years. She was a homemaker for 67 years.

Mrs. Williams enjoyed sewing, cooking and fishing.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband of 67 years, Eve Williams; daughters, Poneva  Jackson and Geneva Shorts of Fairfield and Christine Domino of New London,  Texas; sons, E.W. and Fred of Fairfield and James of Suisun; brother, Toney Knox of Altadena; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in Bryan-Braker Funeral.

Charles Melvin Gordon

A memorial service for Charles Melvin Gordon, 51, of Suisun will be 7:30 tonight in Isleton Kingdom Hall. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Gordon died March 26, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born June 18, 1947, in Giles County, Ind., he lived in Suisun for five years. He resided in Salinas for 10 years prior to moving to Suisun.

He was employed by Lantis Corp., Dover Elevators and Montgomery Elevators for 13 years, retiring in 1991. He attended the Jehovah's Christian Congregation in Louisville, Ky., and the Isleton Congregation in Isleton.

Mr. Gordon loved horses and attending horse shows.

Mr. Gordon is survived by his sister, Joyce Crenshaw of Louisville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The wake will be from noon to 2 p.m. today in Fairmont Memorial Chapel.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Carleen Linnea Little

Memorial services for Carleen Linnea Little, 41, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. today in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Little died March 31, 1999, in Fairfield after a brief illness.

Born Sept. 14, 1957, in Inglewood, she lived in Fairfield for 17 years. She was a former resident of San Fernando Valley. She was a homemaker for 20 years.

Mrs. Little enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, the outdoors, and was a loving mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Little is survived by her husband, Richard of Fairfield; daughter, Sarah of Fairfield; son, Darren Marsicola of Canyon Lake; mother, Lillian Burgess of Canyon Lake; father, Ricahrd Pence of Paradise; stepbrothers, Rick Pence of Yosemite and Ronnie Pence of England; grandchild, Victor Mullings of Fairfield; special friend, Steven Cole of Fairfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Angelina Marie Scharff

Private family services for Angelina Marie Scharff, 88, of Vacaville at her request. Burial will be private in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Scharff died April 1, 1999, in Winsor House Convalescent Hospital after a long illness.

Born Oct. 22, 1910, in Hayward, she moved to the area 15 years ago. She was a homemaker for 55 years.

Mrs. Scharff is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Roy Vaughn of Vacaville; and son, Norman Gonsalves of Los Angeles.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Gladys Yates Turner
