Joffrette 'Jo' Carter

A Catholic Memorial Mass for Joffrette "Jo" Carter, 80, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. A reception will be held at the church immediately after the service.

Mrs. Carter died March 30, 1999, in her home.

Born July 17, 1918, in San Antonio, she lived in Vacaville for 38 years. She was a longtime member of the Vaca Valley Garden Club, the St. Mary's Women's Club, the Saturday Club and the Retired Officers Wives Club at Travis Air Force Base.

Mrs. Carter was an avid gardener who enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Carter is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannyne and Jerry Gorley of Vacaville and Denise and Daniel Skinner of Valencia; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Paula of Spartanburg, S.C., and Carl and Pat of Santa Maria; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lt. Col. Charles Carter.

A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday in St. Mary's Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to NorthBay Hospice, St. Jude's Foundation or to a favorite charity.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Concetta L. Kent

There will be no services for Concetta L. Kent, 82, of Vacaville. Burial will be private in Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.

Mrs. Kent died March 31, 1999, in Vacaville after a lengthy illness.

Born April 2, 1916, in San Jose, she lived in Vacaville for four years. She was a homemaker, wife and mother for 40 years. She was a past member of the British American Club.

Mrs. Kent liked to read, sew, quilt and cook. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe and Hawaii.

Mrs. Kent is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Robert Stein of Vacaville; sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory and Susan of Redwood City and Kevin and Barbara of Mill Valley; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sister, Virginia Von Hein of Dunsmuir; and brothers, Russell and Ronald Lopiccolo of San Jose and Carmello Lopiccolo of Carson City, Nev. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, in 1975.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the hospice Home Health Plus, 1200 Concord Ave., Suite 150, Concord, 94520.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Louis V. Roberson

Funeral services for Louis V. Roberson, 77, of Suisun will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Mount Calvary Baptist Church.

The Rev. Dr. Claybon Lea Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rockville Cemetery.

Mr. Roberson died March 31, 1999, in Vacaville Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center after a short illness.

Born Sept. 21, 1921, in Rayville, La., he lived in Suisun for 19 years. He worked as a plumber and pipefitter for more than 30 years and worked for the Todd Shipyard and the San Francisco Housing Authority. He was a member of the Plumber's Union and Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Vacaville.

Mr. Roberson enjoyed fishing and traveling.

Mr. Roberson is survived by his wife, Ollie V. of Suisun; daughter, Mary Locke of Southfield, Mich.; son, William E. of Vallejo; daughter-in-law, Lucretia of Vallejo; stepmother, Alice T. of Monroe, La.; two grandsons, three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Pearl Elizabeth Virgil

Graveside services for Pearl Elizabeth Virgil, 85, of Concord will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sunrise Cemetery in Fortuna.

A memorial service is set for noon at Faith Center Foursquare Church in Eureka. Pastor Dave Hanson will officiate.

Mrs. Virgil died April 1, 1999, in Valley Manor Convalescent Center in Concord after a long illness.

Born June 28, 1913, she retired from nursing in the late 1960s after completing 30 years of service. She then converted her doll hobby into a doll business, first in Redding and then Ferndale. She was affectionately known as "Perleeta" in the doll business.

She was a loving, generous person, always sharing her dolls and hugs with others. Most important to her was her faith in Christ. She was a member of the Quota Club and also the Christian Women's Group of both Concord and Eureka.

Mrs. Virgil is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janna and Russell Clifford of Concord; and grandson, Michael Clifford of Blue Lake.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Samaritan's Purse.

Arrangements are by Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Walter C. Young

No formal services for Walter C. Young, 72, of Fairfield are planned at this time. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Young died March 27, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a long illness.

Born March 31, 1926, in Indianapolis, he lived in Fairfield for 37 years. He served with the Navy during World War II and was a survivor of battles at Iwo Jima. His ship's flag from LST 779 was flown over Mount Suribachi.

He retired from the Air Force in 1971 as an E7 at Travis Air Force Base. He was a past commander of VFW 2333, District 16, Fairfield-Suisun. He was an 18-year member of FVFW. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 861 and The Campers Club.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife of 55 years, Edna Fae of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Kaylin of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of donor's choice.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Marilyn Arnold Adams

An open house reception will be held for Marilyn Arnold Adams, 72, of Fairfield by her children at her home from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Adams died March 29, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born April 15, 1926, in Jardin, Mont., she lived in Fairfield for 18 years. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Montana in 1949 and a master's in business education from San Francisco State University in 1981. In the 1950s, she was an administrative secretary for the Los Angeles Regional Office of the National Park Service, where she met her husband.

She lived in many national parks over the years. She most recently taught business education curriculum for the Suisun Adult School for 10 years before retiring in 1988. She also assisted in the care and rehabilitation of wild animals for the Suisun Wildlife Center and the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council from 1986-1995.

As a young woman, she lived and worked on a ranch. She enjoyed flying small aircraft. Her memberships included The Republican Women of Northern California, Fairfield Women in Action, National Wildlife Federation, California Retired Teachers Association, The Wednesday Club, Kappa Alpha Theta and World Wildlife Fund.

Mrs. Adams was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and wife who appreciated the outdoors and loved animals of all kinds. She enjoyed her life, her family and friends.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her daughters, Carol of Fairfield and Julie of Walnut Creek; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Gretchen of Loveland,  Colo.; brother, Kenneth Carr of Hot Springs, Ark.; and grandchildren, Nicole and Anna of Loveland,  Colo. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1997.

Memorial contributions should be made in care of Marilyn A. Adams to either the Suisun Marsh Natural History Association, 1171 Kellogg St., Suisun, 94585 or UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, Business Office, Annex Room 110, Davis, 95616.

Dorothy E. Altieri

Funeral services for Dorothy E. Altieri, 87, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in McCune Garden Chapel.

The Rev. Jescie France of NorthBay Hospice will preside. Interment will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Altieri died April 1, 1999, in Vacaville after an illness.

Born Aug. 25, 1911, in Philadelphia, she lived in Vacaville for 36 years. She worked as a riveter in the naval shipyard during World War II and traveled as a Bible saleswoman for more than 20 years. She was a homemaker for the past 34 years.

Mrs. Altieri loved her farm, arts, crafts and shopping. She never met a stranger and always had a smile for everyone.

Mrs. Altieri is survived by her husband of 34 years, Salvadore; son, Raymond Beerhalter of Grapevine,  Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy L. and Bill Hill of Vacaville; grandchildren, Lynn Richards of Tacoma, Wash., Debra Whedbee of Marshfield, Mo., and Robert Nagel Jr. of Ava, Mo.; eight great-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in McCune Garden Chapel.

Frances Danielson-Swasey

Private family services for Frances "Irene" Danielson-Swasey, 78, of Vacaville will be held. Private family burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Danielson-Swasey died March 31, 1999, in Dixon after a sudden illness.

Born Feb. 23, 1921, in Vacaville, she was a lifelong resident of Vacaville and Dixon. She was a homemaker, wife and mother for 51 years. She was a member of the Dixon Womens Improvement Club, Daughters of the Nile, and the Order of Eastern Star Davis Chapter No. 199. She also belonged to the Thursday Night Bridge Club.

Mrs. Danielson-Swasey enjoyed gardening and dining out.

Mrs. Danielson-Swasey is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene Swasey and Roger McKechnie of Highland; daughter, Diane Swasey of Woodland; grandchildren, Stacey Crumrine and G. Scott Crumrine of Woodland and Joe and Jon McKechnie of Highland.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the University of California, Davis, Department of Opthamology, General Eye Research, 4860 Y St., Suite 2400, Sacramento, 95817; Attn: Diane Weeks.

Lynn C. Robinson

Funeral services for Lynn C. Robinson, 53, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

The Rev. Randal Bailey of the Church of God will officiate.

Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Dec. 14, 1945, in  Oklahoma City, Okla., he died April 2, 1999, in Vacaville after a short illness.

He lived in Vacaville 15 years and worked for Kragen Auto Parts as a receiving clerk for three years.

He was a member of the Boyd Street Church of God.

Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Grace; daughters, Ronda of El Sobrante and Cindi Paulk of Winters; mother, Betty; brothers, Thomas of Sacramento and Richard of Laytonville; two grandchildren, Melanie Paulk of Winters and Angelina Lopez of Winters.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Angie.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today in the chapel.

A memorial contribution may be made to Kaiser Hospice, c/o Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, 975 Sereno Drive, Vallejo, 94589.

Joseph Maxie Tucker Jr.

Funeral services for Joseph Maxie Tucker Jr., 63, of Suisun City will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in True Love Baptist Church, Fairfield.

The Rev. James Ray will officiate.

Inurnment will be private.

Born Feb. 3, 1936, in San Diego, he died April 1, 1999, in the veterans' facility in Martinez.

Mr. Tucker lived in Suisun City for five years.

He graduated from LaJolla High School and attended junior college in San Diego.

At age 18, he joined the Army in Los Angeles and attended cooking school in Santa Rosa, where he became a baker and a chief cook.

He served in the Merchant Marine for 27 years and retired in 1995 because of poor health.

He was a member of True Love Baptist Church.

Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Joseph Jr. and Wallace, both of Stockton, Herbert  Johnson of Suisun and Mark Burgeness of Fresno; daughters, Brenda Bohannon and Veronica Underwood of Oakland, Tina  Johnson of Fairfield and Theresa Barlow of Stockton; brothers, Edmund of San Diego and Theodore "Freddie" of Denver; sisters, Patricia Gibson of Apple Valley and Marie of Daly City; 17 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Wednesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
