Helen J. Taylor
Funeral services for Helen J. Taylor, 50, of Fairfield, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Baptist Church, 185 Chandler St. in Vacaville.
The Rev. Jonathan Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Rockville Cemetery.
Mrs. Taylor died April 16, 1999, after a long illness at her home in Fairfield.
Born April 6, 1949, in Starkville, Miss., she worked as an administrative assistant at the student aid accounting department at the University of California, Davis, for 10 years before retiring in 1998.
Previously, she was an employee at Hewlett-Packard in Palo Alto for 18 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Katrina and Marcie Taylor of Fairfield; son, Eric E. Norwood of Glendale; sisters, Flora Eubanks and Perlean Fox of Fairfield, Melzena Morris of Illinois and Rosie Reevas of Starkville, Miss.; brothers, Robert, J.T. and Elmer Norwood; and parents, Isadora Norwood and Charlie Tabb of Starkville.
Leona Estelle Caldwell
Funeral services for Leona Estelle Caldwell, 70, of Sacramento will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Cathedral in Sacramento.
The Rev. Winnie Gaines will preside. Inurnment will be at Trinity Cathedral.
Mrs. Caldwell died April 16, 1999, in Vacaville.
Born June 25, 1928, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, she lived in Sacramento for 42 years. She worked for 24 years at the Department of Motor Vehicles. She was a member of the Cursillo in Sacramento, a member of Trinity Cathedral.
Mrs. Caldwell enjoyed traveling and being with friends and family.
Mrs. Caldwell is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Stacy and Troy Burke of Vacaville, Janice and Bruce Gidlund of Castro Valley, Diane and Terry Chapman of Sacramento; seven grandchildren; brother, Ralph Bunker of British Columbia; and sister, Margaret Patterson of Calgary, Canada.
Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.
Leo Letcher Cash
There will be no services for Leo Letcher Cash, 74, of Vacaville at his request. Interment will be private.
Mr. Cash died April 18, 1999, at home after a long illness.
Born Nov. 14, 1924, in Aqua, Va., he lived in Vacaville and Fairfield for 45 years. He had been employed for 35 years as a yardmaster with Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Cash is survived by his daughter, Shirley of South Carolina; son, Robert of South Carolina; brother, Robert of Maryland; sister, Barbara Syphers of Hotwood, Pa.; sister-in-law, Elizabeth of Oxford, Pa.; companion, Betty A. Lea of Vacaville.

Wilfred E. Fitzgerald
Mass of Christian Burial for Wilfred E. Fitzgerald, 84, of Vacaville will be held at 10 a.m. today in St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Mr. Fitzgerald died April 17, 1999, in Vacaville Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
Born Aug. 15, 1914, in Breakfast Hill, N.H., he lived in Vacaville for nine years. He worked for American Can Company for 32 years as a mechanic. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.
Mr. Fitzgerald enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling and shooting for awards.
Mr. Fitzgerald is survived by his wife, Zelda of Vacaville; brother, Theodore of N.H.; two nieces and one nephew.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.

John W. Lambert
Funeral services for John W. Lambert, 67, of Fairfield will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fairfield Funeral Home, 1750 Pennsylvania Ave.
Burial will follow at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
Mr. Lambert died April 18, 1999, at his Fairfield home after a long illness.
Born Oct. 9, 1931, in Fairfield, he worked on the Benicia Martinez Bridge as a toll taker for the California Department of Transportation for 34 years.
He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in World War II, traveled extensively and enjoyed photography.
Mr. Lambert is survived by his sister, Lorraine Elton of Fairfield.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Fairfield Funeral Home.
Gerald Herbert Merrifield
Funeral services for Gerald Herbert Merrifield, 91, of Vacaville will be held at 1 p.m. today in Vaca Hills Chapel.
The Rev. Vic Jenkins of Unity Church of the Valley will officiate. Interment will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Mr. Merrifield died April 16, 1999, peacefully in Vacaville.
Born Aug. 7, 1907, in Grand Forks, N.D., he lived in Vacaville for the past two years. He moved to Vacaville from Anaheim to the home of his daughter, Judy Jordan. He worked on the family farm until he was 19, at which time he, his mother, stepfather, three brothers and one sister traveled to California via Texas and Washington state, in home-built "motor homes," structures built on the back of Model T trucks. The family settled in Southern California and he lived there until his move to Vacaville. He worked as a supervisor for Firestone Tire and Rubber for 35 years.
Mr. Merrifield did extensive traveling during his retirement years. He was was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening and playing pool.
Mr. Merrifield is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothea "Teddy" of Vacaville; brothers, Leonard of Laguna Niguel and John Crean of Newport Beach; daughters, Linda Henderson of Hacienda Heights and Judy Jordan of Vacaville; grandchildren, Marcy Mackes, Mike Maxwell and Steve Maxwell, all of Vacaville and Ellen Bonneau of Brea; great-grandchildren, Teri, Jason, Chris, Gerald and Thomas Maxwell and Mattie Mackes all of Vacaville, Ryan, Kristopher, and Kylie Bonneau of Brea. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Randy Henderson; brother, Kenneth and sister, Mary Christofferson.
Earlie Mae Gray Russell
Funeral services for Earlie Mae Gray Russell, 79, of Vacaville will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Shiloh Baptist Church.

Mrs. Russell died April 17, 1999, in Vaca Valley Hospital.
Born Nov. 3, 1919, in Lampasas, Texas, she lived in Vacaville since 1979. She attended and graduated from school in Lampasas. She was united in marriage to Elroy Russell on Dec. 20, 1937. She was a member of Alice Chapel M.E. Church in Lampasas, Texas and after moving to Tucson, Ariz. was a member of Prince Chapel AME Church. She was very active with the Greater Tucson Senior Center, where she held various offices. After moving to Vacaville she became active with the Vacaville Senior Center. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church, where she was given the title of mother of the church.
Mrs. Russell enjoyed working word search puzzles and country and gospel music.
Mrs. Russell is survived by her daughter, Joyce Russell Gordon; son, Roy Nathaniel; one son-in-law; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elroy and son Earl Wayne.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight in McCune Garden Chapel.
Cecile 'Me-Me' Showalter
Memorial services for Cecile "Me-Me" Showalter, 90, of Vacaville will be at 10 a.m. today at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St.
The Rev. John Duncan of Grace Episcopal Church in Fairfield will officiate.
A private inurnment will be held in Suisun's Rockville Cemetery.
Mrs. Showalter died on April 17, 1999, in Vallejo after a short illness.
Born Oct. 19, 1908, in Streater, Ill., she lived in Vacaville for the last 21 years, residing in Green Valley from 1963 to 1977.
She owned and operated Showalters Motors with her husband, Lyle, for more than 25 years until 1977, when she briefly worked as an accounts-payable clerk for the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District.
She was active in Green Valley Country Club Women's Golf Division, serving as president at one time. She was also active in the Green Tree Women's Golf Group. She remained active with the organization until her 90th birthday. She was also once a member of Kiwanis Women's Group.
Mrs. Showalter is survived by her daughter, Shirley Richards of Green Valley; granddaughter, Lyla Masterson of Vacaville; grandson, Curt Richards of Plano, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Jenise and Kyle Masterson of Vacaville and Stephen and Scott Richards of Plano.
Rose Harvey Balades
Funeral services for Rose Harvey Balades, 68, of Fairfield will be Noon today at First United Pentecostal Church.
Pastor David Alvarez of First United Pentecostal Church will officiate. Entombment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.
Mrs. Balades died April 19, 1999, in Sutter Solano Hospital in Vallejo after a short illness.
Born March 1, 1931, in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She lived in Fairfield for one year. She worked with Del Monte Cannery in Oakland for several years. She was a homemaker who was loved by her family. She lived in Benicia for five years and Oakland from 1972 to 1985.
Mrs. Balades is survived by her daughter, Raquel Vasquez of Cadereyta, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; sons, Arthur Harvey of Fairfield, Carlos Harvey of Hayward and Fabrian Balades of Benicia; brothers, William Harvey of Pacifica and Crispin Harvey of Oakland; ten grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon today in the First United Pentecostal Church.

Aleen M. Burton
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Aleen M. Burton, 85, of Vacaville at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
The Rev. Benedict DeLeon will preside. Interment will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Mrs. Burton died April 19, 1999, in her home after a brief illness.
Born Sept. 4, 1913, in Vacaville, she lived in Vacaville and Solano County her entire life. She was a homemaker for more than 40 years. She was a member of the "Sherry" Club of Vacaville.
Mrs. Burton enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, especially to Alaska and Hawaii. She was an avid Giants fan and enjoyed watching golf on TV.
Mrs. Burton is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Betty Thorington of Marinwood; four nieces, two nephews and many loving friends in Vacaville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today with a rosary at 7 p.m. in McCune Garden Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to North Bay Hospice, 1800 Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield, 94533-9980.
Deborah Mary Follmer
No services will be held for Deborah Mary Follmer, 80, of Vacaville. A private interment will be held at San Joaquin National Cemetery
in Gustine.
Born Oct. 13, 1918, in Cincinnati, Mrs. Follmer died April 18, 1999, in Vacaville.
Mrs. Follmer traveled extensively throughout the United States and the Pacific with her husband while he was serving in the Air Force. She was a homemaker and part-time secretary for the Vacaville school district. A Vacaville resident since 1958, she was known for her humor and compassion, her creativity and her ability to listen and sew.
She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. William Follmer of Vacaville; daughters, Barbara Stanten of Moraga, Sharon Carrol of Chico; two grandchildren, Michael Carroll of Chico and Tamara Stanten of Moraga; brothers, Ralph Long of Florida and Stan Long of Ohio.
Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.
