Maritcha S. Walshe
Funeral services for Maritcha S. Walshe, 80, of Fairfield will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Interment will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Walshe died April 17, 1999, in Fairfield after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 26, 1919, in Crete, she lived in Fairfield for 22 years. She was educated in Paris and came over to the United States after World War II in 1946. She was a housewife for 53 years.
Mrs. Walshe loved tending her roses and caring for animals.
Mrs. Walshe is survived by her daughter, Laurie Anne; son and daughter-in-law, John and Elizabeth of Citrus Heights; brother, Stefano Soultanopoulos of France; grandchildren, John II of Reno, Tyler and Eric of Redding; and her dear friends, Linda Hernandez and Robert Barnett.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
Howard Joseph Ward
A memorial service for Howard Joseph Ward, 66, of Fairfield will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert L. Clay of Assembly of God Church will officiate. Disposition will be private.
Born Jan. 21, 1933, in Brickley, Ark., Mr. Ward died April 16, 1999, in an automobile accident.
Mr. Ward served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked in New York as a sheriff's deputy for 10 years before training in Georgia to become a federal police officer for the U.S. Treasury Department. He served in this agency for 20 years before retiring in 1996. He then worked as a federal correctional officer for the past four months.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Xiubo of Fairfield; daughters, Gloria and Mary Ward and Cheryl Lazaro, all of New York, Juliette Ward of Connecticut, Lydia Williams of Georgia; son, Paul of Connecticut; sisters, Marie Brown of Chicago, Nell Rodgers of Milwaukee; 14 grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Antonio Luis Nunes
Visitation for Antonio Luis Nunes, 66, of Dixon, will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home Chapel in Fairfield.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Bryan-Braker Chapel.
There will be a 10 a.m. funeral service Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate.
Mr. Nunes will be entombed at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.
Born June 15, 1932, in the Azores, Mr. Nunes died April 23, 1999, at his home in Dixon.
He lived in Dixon for the past 26 years.
He partook in Portuguese festivals. He worked for 12 years as a dairyman. He also worked at the University of California, Davis, as a custodian for 17 years. He retired from UC Davis in 1994.
He is survived by his wife, Maria of Dixon; daughter, Mary Erickson of Clovis; son, David of Dixon; brothers, Manuel of Turlock and John of the Azores; and four grandchildren.
Charles 'Wes' Simmons
Charles W. "Wes" Simmons, Sr., who along with his former wife, Lois, co-founded WesLos RV Center in Vacaville in 1969 and owned it until 1977, died at his Reno home April 25, 1999, after a long illness.
Mr. Simmons was 70 years old.
Solano County supervisor and former Vacaville Mayor Bill Carroll remembers Mr. Simmons as a personable man and someone who was very involved in the community.
Carroll added that Mr. Simmons and Lois "raised some great kids," who have been successful in their own lives.
Mr. Simmons' son, Rusty, who runs a real-estate business in Vacaville, remembers his father as someone who had a great sense of humor, loved to travel and loved music.
"He even sang in a local barbershop quartet," Rusty Simmons said.
Born Oct. 4, 1928, in Grass Creek, Ind., Mr. Simmons attended Manchester College in Indiana, where he minored in music.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1951. During his 20-year career in the Air Force, Mr. Simmons logged 8,000 hours flying time as a pilot. He was qualified to fly 17 different models of aircraft, including helicopters.
He was the chief pilot for the United Air Forces in Europe and was responsible for aircrew training and flight management for U.S. embassies from Ankara, Turkey to New Delhi, India.
His work included scheduling and piloting flights for ambassadors, NATO officials and other VIPs. He also served with U.S. air evacuation units and air rescue helicopters in the Arctic. He received the Air Force's recognition for maintenance of superior aircrew performance and accident-free safety record for flying under extremely adverse conditions.
Mr. Simmons moved to Vacaville in 1967 after he was assigned to Travis Air Force Base.
He co-founded WesLos RV Center two years later, along with his first wife, Lois, who continues to live in Vacaville.
He sold WesLos in 1977 and later moved to Sacramento.
In 1993 he moved from Sacramento to Reno, along with his wife, Audrey.
While in Reno, Mr. Simmons worked as a real-estate investor and consultant, providing his services in a number of areas, including national seminar training programs.
He also loved racquetball.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held in Mr. Simmons' honor in Reno on May 16, following a regular worship service at the Reno Unity Church.
The Revs. Robin Abel and Rachel Hepburn of the Reno Unity Church will preside.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey of Reno; sons, Charles of San Diego, Michael of San Francisco and Rusty of Vacaville; daughters, Estella of New York City and Sue of Seattle; and mother, Vera McGruder of Chicago.

Richard 'Rik' Lee Graham
A funeral service for Richard "Rik" Lee Graham, 35, of Fairfield will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield.
The Rev. Mike McCamey of First Baptist Church in Fairfield will officiate.
Burial will follow at Rockville Cemetery, 4219 Suisun Valley Road in Suisun.
Born July 19, 1963, at Travis Air Force Base, Mr. Graham died April 25, 1999, in Napa in a motorcycle accident.
He lived in Fairfield for 32 years. He worked as a manager at Downtown Joe's in Napa for the past five years. He loved to ride motorcycles and belonged to the motorcycle club "Riders from Hell."
He also enjoyed making beer at home and was a good father.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard, in December 1998.
He is survived by his fiance, Leeann Grice of Fairfield; sons, Tyler and Zachery of Fairfield; mother, Patricia Graham; brothers, William and Donald of Fairfield; grandparents, Mary and Flave Stimpson of Michigan; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
Marissa Lizarda Monroy
A Mass of Christian Burial for Marissa Lizarda Monroy, 36, of San Francisco will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Inurnment will be private at Suisun-Fairfield cemetery.
Born Jan. 8, 1963, in Manila, Philippines, Ms. Monroy died April 23, 1999, in Fairfield.
A resident of San Francisco for 17 years, she previously lived in Suisun City. She graduated from Armijo High School in 1981, and was studying to be a teacher because she loved children. She had attended the University of San Francisco and was attending San Francisco State University at the time of her death. She had previously worked as an operations manager for Cechettini & Associates for 12 years. She loved children, her dog, Kiko, and traveling.
Ms. Monroy is survived by her mother, Iluminada of Suisun City; sisters, Ginah of Suisun City and Evangeline of Los Angeles; brother, Delfin of Fort Campbell, Ky.; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Delfin.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Paul Anthony Hardy
Memorial services for Dr. Paul Anthony Hardy, 58, of Fairfield will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Fairfield Church of Christ. Inurnment will be private at Fairmont Memorial Park. Pastor Herman Peterson Jr. of Stewart Tabernacle A.M.E. Zion Church in Fresno will officiate.
Born Jan. 6, 1941, in Lecompte, La., Dr. Hardy died April 26, 1999, in Fairfield.
Dr. Hardy received his associate's degree from Los Angeles City College in 1970, and then received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Loyola Marymount in 1973. He received his master's degree in 1975 and doctoral degree from the University of California, Davis, in 1981.
From 1980 to 1992, he taught at American River College, UC Davis, Solano Community College, Chapman University, L.A. City College and the Solano County Probation Department. From 1992 until his death, he worked at SCC, teaching psychology and African-American history.
Dr. Hardy was an avid reader who enjoyed camping and gardening. His main interest was the academic advancement of African-American students.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah of Fairfield; daughters, Megan of Fairfield, Celeste of Fairfield, Robin of Los Angeles; parents, Joseph and Leola of Los Angeles; sisters, Shirley of Los Angeles, Anita Hardy-Shaw of Vallejo; brother, Henry of Los Angeles; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Leah V. Larner
Funeral services for Leah V. Larner, 94, of Santa Rosa, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Spring Lake Village in Santa Rosa. Interment will be private.
Born Sept. 2, 1904, in London, Mrs. Larner died April 26, 1999, in Santa Rosa.
Mrs. Larner was a homemaker, wife and mother. She was a member of Dominican Sisters Auxiliary of Mission San Jose. She loved making pottery and weaving.
She is survived by her son, Robert of Dixon; daughters, Barbara Larner of Los Angeles and Leah Hawkley of Napa; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and a son, Richard Jr.

Leroy J. Brinsfield
Memorial services for Leroy J. Brinsfield, 54, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon.

Born Feb. 14, 1945, in Vacaville, Mr. Brinsfield died April 23, 1999, in Stockton.
A lifelong resident of Vacaville, he was a carpenter and worked for years in construction.
He was a member of the Carpenter's Union. He loved working with wood and leather and he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Brinsfield is survived by his son, Jason Morgan of Winters; sisters, Joyce Anders of Vacaville, Delores Hanson of Sacramento, and Bernice Barnes of Vacaville; brothers, Donald of Berry Creek and Orvil of Bryte; longtime girlfriend, Carolyn Miles of Vacaville; stepdaughter, Carmen Purves of Vacaville; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Lee Roy.
