Harry N. Leach

Funeral services for Harry N. Leach, 87, of Vacaville will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Benedict DeLeon of St. Mary's will officiate. Interment will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Dec. 19, 1911, in Los Angeles, Mr. Leach died May 4, 1999, in Reno.

A Vacaville and Solano County resident for more than 51 years, Mr. Leach was a staunch supporter of Vacaville and shopping locally. He worked for 12 years as the manager of the Sprouse Rietz store in Vacaville and at the same time owned and farmed his own ranch in Vacaville for more than 50 years.

Mr. Leach was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Vacaville, the Vacaville Moose Lodge and E. Clampis Vitas. He was an original member of the "911" club. Mr. Leach loved dancing and was quite an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as farming.

Mr. Leach is survived by his daughters, Beverly Copren of Sattley and Sandy Sjostrand of Clovis; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Vacaville Senior Center, the American Lung Association or the charity of the donor's choice.

Vera Mae Baumann

Services for Vera Mae Baumann, 75, of Vallejo will be 11 a.m. today at Colonial Chapels in Vallejo.

Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery. The Rev. Stanly Cornils and Women of the Moose will officiate.

Born Oct. 24, 1923, in Belleville, Ill., Mrs. Baumann died May 3, 1999, at home.

A Vallejo resident for 52 years, Mrs. Bauman worked for Kmart, retiring in 1989 as a customer service specialist. She also worked at J.J. Newberry and Smiling Sam Drug Store.

She also worked as a volunteer in the gift shop at Florence Douglas Senior Center.

Mrs. Baumann is survived by her son, Bill (Ruthi) of Vacaville; and grandchildren, Chad, Brandon, Dustin and Lexi.

She was preceded in death in 1994 by her husband, William Sr.

Dale R. Spracklen

Funeral services for Dale R. Spracklen, 78, of Vacaville will be at 10 a.m. Monday at McCune Garden Chapel. Burial will follow at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born March 10, 1921, in Tower Hill, Ill., Mr. Spracklen died May 5, 1999, in Winters.

A longtime resident of Vacaville, he worked for Hastings Island in Rio Vista for 15 years and also worked for J&J Auto for 10 years. He was also a member of Veterans Association of San Jose.

He is survived by his daughters, E. Lois Mackie of San Jose, Peggy Ann Dahringer of Illinois; son, Ray of Winters; brother, Wilmer of Pekin, Ill.; sister, Opel of Pekin; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O.Box 844 Santa Rosa, 95402.

Peggy Agnes Blank

Committal services for Peggy Agnes Blank, 83, of Fairfield will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rockville Cemetery. The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela of Holy Spirit Catholic Church will officiate.

Born July 3, 1915, in California, Mrs. Blank died May 4, 1999, in Fairfield.

A devoted wife and homemaker for 61 years, Mrs. Blank lived in Fairfield for 38 years.

Mrs. Blank is survived by her sons, Robert Fleming of Fairfield, Donald Fleming of Torrance, and Dennis Blank of Orlando; and nine grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, Northern California Unit, P.O. Box 21-4477, Sacramento, 95821-0477.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Theresa Rose 'Tess' Cancilla

Private graveside services for Theresa Rose "Tess" Cancilla, 84, of Vacaville will be held at Mount Olivet Memorial Park. The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly of St. Joseph's Catholic Church will officiate.

Born Aug. 26, 1914, in San Francisco, Mrs. Cancilla died May 6, 1999, in Vacaville.

Mrs. Cancilla was born and raised in San Francisco. She moved to Vacaville five years ago and was a member of the California Club in San Francisco and a longtime member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in San Francisco.

Mrs. Cancilla is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Phylis and Philip Martinelli of Alamo, Beverly and Charles Lamoree of Vacaville; grandchildren, Vincent Martinelli of Spain, Nicole Martinelli of Italy, Davis and Sarah Lamoree, both of Vacaville; great-grandson, Victor Martinelli of Spain; nieces, Marlene and her husband, Dominic Spinetta of San Rafael, Virginia and her husband, David Teagarden of Piedmont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and grandson, Paul Martinelli.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday with a rosary at 7 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel.

Michi Pierre

Funeral services for Michi Pierre, 70, of Fairfield will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private.

Born Oct. 15, 1928, in Sendai, Japan, Mrs. Pierre died May 6, 1999, at home.

A resident of Fairfield for 23 years, she formerly lived in Vallejo from 1963 to 1968 and in Novato from 1968 to 1976. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Pierre is survived by her husband, Bernard of Fairfield; daughter, Ruri of Whittier; sisters-in-law, Mary Williams of  Louisiana, Lucy Pierre of  Louisiana; sisters and brothers-in-law, Loretta and Samuel DuCre of  Louisiana, Theresa and Hilton Guxman of  Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Jesse Pierre.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Juanell Sherrod

No formal services for Juanell Sherrod, 73, of Fairfield will be held. Inurnment will be private.

Born Feb. 22, 1926, in Lone Wolf, Iowa, Mrs. Sherrod died May 7, 1999, at NorthBay Medical Center.

A resident of Solano County for 24 years, she loved needlepoint and many crafts. She was a loving wife of 42 years, a mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Sherrod is survived by her husband, Jeredy "Kim" of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Kitty Gable of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Ron Lindsey of San Antonio, Jan and Hemant Lall of Tarzana; sister, Sue Payne of Dallas; brother, Ralph Morgan of Phoenix; and grandchildren, Michelle Jockers and Kathy Russell, both of Houston, Jessica and Justin Lall, both of Tarzana.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Leslie John Ware

No services will be held for Leslie John Ware, 76, of Vacaville at the request of the family.

Born April 25, 1923, in Rush, Ark., Mr. Ware died April 30, 1999, in Fairfield.

A prior resident of San Jose, Mr. Ware joined the Army during World War II and served in Europe and was in the Battle of the Bulge. For 45 years, he was self-employed as an electrical contractor.

Mr. Ware is survived by his wife, S. Marie of Vacaville; sons, Nickey of Visalia and Donald of Las Vegas; daughter, Reonne Haslett of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and John Kitchen of San Diego; sisters, Neville Davenport of San Jose and Lillian Leslie of San Jose; brother, Ronnie of Vacaville; grandchildren, Tammy Ware of Visalia, Riley Haslett of Vacaville; and great-grandchild,  Taylor Wilson of Discovery Bay.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Nolder.

Orietta Hope Martin

Funeral services for Orietta Hope Martin, 87, of Vacaville will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Vaca Hills Chapel. Chaplain Keith Knauf will officiate. Burial will be private at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Sept. 28, 1911, in Broderick, Mrs. Martin died May 6, 1999, in Winsor House Convalescent Hospital.

Mrs. Martin moved to the area 26 years ago and was a registered nurse for Dr. Schopps for 30 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was very active in Leisure Town activities and enjoyed crafts.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her sisters, Isabel Farrens of Sacramento, and Ardella Tucker of Dunsmuir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Martin in 1992; sister, Launa Kern; and brother, Harry Williams.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Leisure Town Memorial Fund or the donor's favorite charity.

Clarence Campos

Funeral services for Clarence Campos, 90, of Winters will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Smith's Colonial Chapel in Winters. Burial will follow at Winters Cemetery.

Mr. Campos died May 7, 1999, at his home in Winters.

Born March 24, 1909, in Marchal DeLubrin, Spain, his life work was farming, specifically walnuts and almonds. He was a member of Club Iberico De Espana and California Farmer.

Mr. Campos was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen, and sister, Jeanette Hayes. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Art Humphrey of Vacaville; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Darlene of Winters; brother, Eleuterio of Spain; sisters, Pearl McCullough of Ramona, Irene Ramos of Davis and Juanita of Winters; grandchildren, Archie of Vacaville and Larry of Winters; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at Smith's Colonial Chapel in Winters.

Claude W. Duncan

Funeral services for Claude W. Duncan, 80, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Vacaville, 1st Ward.

Ron Clark will officiate. Burial will be Thursday at the Winton Cemetery in Winton.

Mr. Duncan died May 7, 1999, at VacaValley Hospital after a brief illness.

Born Sept. 13, 1918, in Westline, Mo., he lived in Vacaville for 45 years. He was well-known for his good-natured teasing of friends. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and gardening.

He worked for 24 years for the Vacaville Building Materials Co. of Vacaville. He was a member of the Teamsters in Vallejo and the Operating Engineers Local No. 3 of Vacaville.

Mr. Duncan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beulah of Vacaville; daughter, Alice Carlson of Vacaville; brother, Norvel of Salem, Ore.; sisters, Eva Lovelace of Colterville and Jenny Harris of Torrence; grandsons, Jeffrey and Kevin Carlson of Vacaville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his daughter Doris Adel Duncan.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in McCune Garden Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Diabetes Association of Solano County, 817 Missouri St., No. 4, Fairfield, 94533.

Mary Van Vranken

Funeral services for Mary Van Vranken, 88, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Vacaville Christian Church.

The Rev. Su Schlagel will officiate. Burial will follow at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Van Vranken died of natural causes on May 6, 1999, in her Marshall Road home.

Born to John and August Backus on June 28, 1910, in Seabrook,  Texas, Mrs. Van Vranken moved to California 78 years ago.

She lived in Solano County for 41 years. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a homemaker, avid gardener and reader and a friend to many. She was also a Diamond Jubilee member of the Vacaville Christian Church.

Mrs. Van Vranken is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Wilma Holden; daughters, Judith Barton and Sandra Jones, both of Vacaville, and Earla Stevens of Phoenix; stepson, James of Healdsburg; stepdaughters, Geraldine of Hilmar and Barbara Holland of North Highlands; 27 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, and a stepdaughter, Mary Ann Lambert.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel.
