Lou Villalpando

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lou "The Barber" Villalpando of Davis will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church in Davis. Burial at the Davis Cemetery will follow.

A Rosary will be recited today at 7 p.m.

Mr. Villalpando, a longtime barber in Dixon, died May 5, 1999, at his home in Davis.

A veteran of the Navy who fought in World War II, Mr. Villalpando was a member of the American Legion in Dixon and a former member of the Lions Club.

Mr. Villalpando is survived by his wife of 47 years, Imelda; daughter, Beverly S. Brown of Dixon; sisters, Jessie Mercado, Victoria Cervantes and Mary Gonzales, and brothers, Porfidio, Reyes and Jesus, all of Southern California.

Orzilah Frances Barty

At her request, no funeral services will be held for Orzilah Frances Barty, 92, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Barty died May 5, 1999, in Vacaville at Winsor House Convalescent Hospital.

Born July 5, 1906, in Winters, she lived there until she married Anthony M. Barty and moved to the family ranch in English Hills, where they lived until 1937 when their property fell victim to the Depression.

The family moved to Vacaville, where Mrs. Barty worked as a waitress at the Nut Tree Restaurant in its early years. She also worked for many years at the Vacaville Post Office, retiring in 1954 to take care of her grandchildren.

She served as a hostess at the Harbison House in the early 1980s. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and gardening.

Mrs. Barty is survived by her daughter-in-law, June Barty; grandchildren, Kevin Barty and Trish Vieira; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Vance and Jacob Barty, and Gina, Jessie and Dawn Vieira; niece, Lurline Stith, all of Vacaville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony M., and son, Donell A.

The family requests that contributions be made in Mrs. Barty's memory to their favorite charities or to Winsor House Convalescent Hospital.

Phil C. Bojarski

A private graveside service for Phil C. Bojarksi, 90, will be Wednesday at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Sacramento. Burial will be in the same cemetery.

Mr. Bojarski died May 7, 1999, in Fairfield after a brief illness.

Born Aug. 23, 1908, in Poland, he lived and worked in Northern California for 65 years. He served in the Pacific theater during World War II during his service in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 until 1945. He was a bricklayer for 45 years and later worked as a building inspector.

Mr. Bojarski loved to fish and read. He was a loving grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dorothy; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Stan Walker of Clay Center, Kan.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Ellen G. Campbell

No funeral services will be held for Ellen G. Campbell, 73, of Vacaville.

Mrs. Campbell died May 4, 1999, in Vacaville. She was born in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada.

She was a grocery clerk who lived in Vacaville for the past eight years after living in the San Francisco Bay area, the Sierras, Hawaii, Alaska, the Yukon Territory and British Columbia, where her husband worked for Pan American Airways.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by her husband, George Campbell; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Robert Winslow of Redwood City and Mary Ellen and Chris Kraft of Vacaville; grandchildren, Trebor and Trenton Winslow and Kristi, Kimberly and Karolyn Kraft.

John Elbert Pettengill

Funeral services for John Elbert Pettengill, 68, of Magalia, have been held in Magalia Community Church.

Burial was planned for Clearfield Cemetery, Clearfield, Iowa.

Born in 1931 in Zearing, Iowa, Mr. Pettengill died in his home April 28, 1999.

He served in the Army Air Corps and continued his military service in the Air Force, retiring after 23 years as a flight engineer.

Later, he was a jet engine mechanic at Travis Air Force Base. Also, he worked as an electrconics technician with Magnavox and then a control room operator with UNICAL and Exxon Oil companies.

He enjoyed making latch hook rugs, working on puzzles, genealogy and electrical and mechanical projects, plus fishing and boating.

Mr. Pettengill is survived by his wife, Fern; sons, John of Fairfield and Michael of Vacaville; daughters, Debbra Puente of Fairfield, Barbara Mabee of Showlow, Ariz., and Ginger Howse of Canada; brothers, Robert of Placerville, Edward of Phoenix, Ariz., David of Mesa, Ariz., Julian of Raleigh, N.C., and Frank of Troutdale, Ore., and 11 grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Bidwell Chapel in Chico.

Kenneth 'Bud' Rains

Funeral services for Kenneth "Bud" Rains, 85, of Vacaville, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Vacaville's McCune Garden Chapel.

Ted Parks of Vacaville Church of Christ will officiate.

Born Sept. 28, 1913, in Arkansas, he died May 6, 1999, in Vacaville after a long illness.

He worked 21 years as a custodian for Alamo Elementary School in Vacaville.

He lived in Vacaville 46 years and enjoyed gardening.

Mr. Rains is survived by his wife, Ivy; sons, Ray of Milpitas and Kenneth Jr. of Vacaville; daughters, Lillian Baggett of Rohnert Park and Ilene Faber of Vacaville; sisters, Fredale Samford, Narce Carns and Ann Cantrell, both of Arkansas; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today in the chapel.

Robert E. Lee Thomas

A memorial service will be held for Robert E. Lee Thomas, 74, of Vacaville at noon Sunday in the Fairfield Moose Lodge.

Inurnment will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Sylvan Cemetery in Citrus Heights.

Born June 8, 1924, in  Oklahoma, he died May 3, 1999, in VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville, after a long illness.

He worked 20 years as a bartender for Vaca Bowl in Vacaville and was a member of the Fairfield Moose Lodge. He enjoyed trips to Reno.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his son, Michael of Anaheim; daughters, Terry of Anaheim and Judy Burgar of Sacramento; sons, Billy Pottratz of Vacaville and Evon Pattratz of Reno; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A memorial contribution may be made to the Diabetes Society of Solano County, 817 Missouri St., No. 4, Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are being handled by McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

Howard 'Henry' Owen Aldridge

Funeral services with military honors for Howard "Henry" Owen Aldridge, 67, of Fairfield will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Pastor Stan Sanderson of Church of Christ will preside.

Entombment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park, 1901 Union Ave. in Fairfield.

Mr. Aldridge died May 8, 1999, at NorthBay Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Born May 16, 1931, in Jasper, Ala., he had lived in Fairfield for 30 years.

Mr. Aldridge received his bachelor's degree in economics/business administration from Chapman University. He received his master's degree in finance and management from the Southern Illinois University. He served in the United States Air Force for 28 years from 1950 to 1978 and worked in personnel as personnel director. He retired from the military in 1978 as a chief master sargeant.

From 1978 to 1983, he worked as a lending officer for Lloyd's Bank California, Vaca Valley Bank and WestAmerica Bank. From 1984 to 1986, he worked for Great Western Savings and Loan as a real estate loan officer. From 1987 to 1989, he was a loan officer for Sacramento Savings and Loan. From 1989 until his death, he owned H.O. Aldriege Consulting.

Mr. Aldridge enjoyed reading and computers. He was a past member of the Military Affairs Committee, Chamber of Commerce, and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Suisun. He was a member of the International Association of Financial Planning, and held a lifetime community college instructor credential in banking and finance as well as business and industrial management.

He is survived by his wife, Norma of Fairfield; a brother and sister-in-law, J.D. and Joyce Aldridge of Alabama; special friends, Michael, Tonia, Trista and Heather Nimmo of Vacaville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W.  Texas St. in Fairfield.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa, 94523 or to the charity of one's choice.

Sidney Arnold Simonson

Memorial services for Sidney Arnold Simonson, 82, of Vacaville will be held at a later date in Vaca Hills Chapel under the auspices of the Oakland Sequoia Lodge No. 349 F&A. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Simonson died May 8, 1999, at his home following a long illness. Born Nov. 27, 1916, in Nebraska, he had moved to the area six years ago.

He was a vice principal of Oakland Unified School District for 23 years and a member of the Shriners of Oakland. He enjoyed gold panning, gardening and fishing.

Mr. Simonson is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Vacaville; daughter, Cindy Dunn of Vacaville; and grandchildren, Heather, Brandon and Jeremy Dunn, all of Vacaville.

Aida L. Esquerdo

Inurnment will be private for Aida L. Esquerdo, 63, of Fairfield who died May 5, 1999, at NorthBay Medical Center following a long illness.

Born July 5, 1935, in Puerto Rico, she had lived in Fairfield for 20 years.

She was a bookkeeper for  Taylor & Ng for 40 years before retiring.

Mrs. Esquerdo is survived by her daughter, Brunilda Rodriguez of Fairfield; two sons, Juan of Newark and Pedro of Puerto Rico; a sister, Blanca Esquerdo of Puerto Rico; a brother, Carlos of Puerto Rico; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Northern California, 856 Stanton Road, Burlingame, 95010.

Arrangements are by Fairfield Funeral Home.

Gwendolyn A. Heaney

A private inurnment will be held for Gwendolyn A. Heaney, 79, of Vacaville who died May 5, 1999, in Vacaville following a brief illness.

Born in Denver,  Colo. on Jan. 28, 1920, she had lived in Vacaville for the past 32 years.

Mrs. Heaney was a homemaker for the past 50 years and is survived by her many friends. She enjoyed crocheting and her animals.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Guide Dogs for the Blind, P.O. Box 151200, San Rafael, 94915-1200.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Alton Burnett Case

No formal services will be held for Alton Burnett Case, 82, of Rio Vista. Disposition will be private.

Born April 5, 1917, in Etna, Mr. Case died May 11, 1999, in Fairfield.

A resident of Rio Vista for 54 years, Mr. Case served in the Navy and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He worked for the state as a drawbridge operator. He loved fishing and hunting and was a loving husband and father.

Mr. Case is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn of Rio Vista; daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Phillip Buttolph of Arcata, Kimberly and Larry Chan of San Diego; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Lois Case of Sacramento, Lewis and Marian Case of Fair Oaks; and sister-in-law, Darlene Case of Yuba City.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold in 1998.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Arthritis Foundation of Northern California, 203 Willow St., Suite 201, San Francisco, 94109.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Winfield Jacob Kaufmann

No local services will be held for Winfield Jacob Kaufmann, 96, of Vacaville. Burial will be in Santa Barbara Cemetery.

Born March 6, 1903, in Seattle, Mr. Kaufmann died May 11, 1999, in Vacaville.

A resident of Vacaville for the last five years, Mr. Kaufmann was the owner and operator of Wilgro Seed and Garden Supply in Seattle for more than 30 years.

Mr. Kaufmann is survived by his daughter, Brandi Holstein of Vacaville; son, William of Oakland; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nadeau Family Funeral Home.
